Rappahannock Oyster Bar at Row DTLA is your go-to spot for fresh Chesapeake Bay oysters, lobster rolls, and a vibe that makes you feel a world away from LA.
"Rappahonnock is a fantastic oyster and seafood bar in the Row DTLA development. The massive complex, which used to be the old American Apparel factory, has more outdoor space than it knows what to do with. This all-day restaurant has the best location in the whole place - it’s right at the main entrance, with an unobstructed view of a giant tree that looks like it came from the set of Avatar. We love the lobster rolls, the crispy oyster tacos topped with remoulade and vinegar-y slaw, and the raw oysters, which are flown in daily." - brant cox
"Rappahannock is an ideal lunch option because eating oysters in the middle of the day while the sun is out is our preferred state of human existence. It’s located at Row DTLA (a.k.a. the warehouses where the old American Apparel factories used to be), and sitting on the patio feels like you’re weekend-ing in a historic town on the East Coast. The oysters are flown in fresh every day from Virginia and they taste like it, but concentrate on their trout dip, lobster roll, and oyster po’boy as well. " - nikko duren, brant cox, sylvio martins
"The East Coast oyster spot has recently reopened their fantastic outdoor space at The RowDTLA with plenty of Valentine’s Day specials as well. They include whole filet mignon and lobster surf and turf for $38, seared scallops for $36, chocolate-covered strawberries for $10, and plenty of other dishes that’ll help set the mood. Available for outdoor dining and takeout." - brant cox
"Close your eyes at Rappahannock Oyster Bar, and you can practically hear the boats and birds of the Chesapeake Bay. They’ve got a great patio at the Row in DTLA that’s shaded by a huge tree, making it the ideal place to eat the absolutely fantastic Virginia oysters grown at the restaurant’s own farm east of Richmond. They have three different kinds–our favorites are the Rochambeau, which are a bit sweet, but still have the brininess associated with East Coast oysters. Their kimchi mignonette is one of our favorites in the city, too." - nikko duren
"This seafood spot at the Row in Downtown LA is a great place for a last-minute casual brunch outside. Despite having one of the best patios in DTLA, things stay pretty calm here (maybe because Smorgasburg next door is getting so much attention). That just means more lobster Benedict or shrimp and grits for you. And oysters - which, like the wine you’re going to be drinking, are appropriate for any meal, if you really believe." - brant cox, brett keating
