The 13 Best Restaurants & Bars In Idyllwild - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Originally an at-home (er, at-cabin?) pop-up, Raven Inn has now gone legit with a shop just north of downtown. We recommend showing up early (they open at 9am) as the owners only make a few batches per day of their warm, pillowy bagels, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. We love the rosemary sea salt flavor, but always ask what the weekend special is—it’s usually the best one of the day. And then plan to roam around and do some shopping: there’s a small attached market filled with various jams, spreads, and snacks." - brant cox

Bagels aren’t the best I’ve ever had but their sandwich menu is great and reasonably priced compared to a lot of bagel shops these days. The presentation and quality of ingredients, especially the lox bagel, was beautiful. The shop is small, but they have lots of outdoor seating and service was quick. Extra points for having non-dairy cream cheese! (the coffee pictured is not theirs, but they do serve it as well)

Google
There's a lot of potential and I've seen it continue to grow with menu options but it's still lacking some structure. Id appreciate a functional plate rather than cute baskets that the bagel is stuffed in. Most recent visit I was given the wrong sandwich only after a bit of arguing though. A barista gave a free drink as a bit of good will. The place is the only of its kind so it'll really have the niche down soon. Absolutely gonna conquer the Instagram aesthetic stop as well. Personally that brings a crowd I don't prefer to be surrounded by. Might give another shot with a different sandwich and take it to go and enjoy down at the park.

Wow, we were seriously impressed with this bagel shop! We stopped by after a long hike and it totally hit the spot. My boyfriend got the Cali Bagel with added sprouts on a cacio e pepe bagel—topped with flaky sea salt, olive oil drizzle, and fresh avocado. It was incredible. I ordered the half veggie-style on a rosemary bagel and added turkey—also amazing. We also grabbed an iced vanilla latte, which was one of the best I’ve had. At first, I thought the price (just under $50 for 3 items) was a little steep, but the quality completely justified it. After our first bites, we both said these were hands down the best bagels we've ever had. Can’t wait to come back and we’re recommending it to all our friends visiting Idyllwild!

Bagels are yummy and big! Great coffee. Plenty of seating outside. Parking limited. So worth the drive!

UPDATE: be aware there charge additional $1 if you want to change regular cheese to vegan cheese, which btw was not a case before when I ordered a Veggie bagel. The guy told me, it’s the same price since it’s not adds on but the cheese is already included there (which makes total sense). While right this moment, a woman told me “it was always this way” and tried to point it in the menu, but there’s no such thing in the menu like adds on $1 vegan cheese. So she lied. Twice. Very unpleasant experience. When you in Idyllwild, you MUST visit Raven Hill Bagels! I’ve got Veggie Bagel (rosemary one) with vegan cream cheese, and it was amazing! Fresh, crispy, nutritious & delicious! They have many other options, different bagels, and different sandwiches. Great selection of groceries as well! Highly recommend!

Google
Best bagels we’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked. Rosemary and salt was our favorite. Get there early as they had sold out by 9:45am on our first visit.

Google
Great breakfast bagels, good variety of bagels and their coffee defiantly hit the spot. Staff were super nice and friendly as well! Will defiantly come back :)

Google
Wonderful bagels and coffee! Loved the everything bagel with the scallion cream cheese (pictured), as well as the rosemary salt bagel with the hot honey and cream cheese. Lots of outdoor seating.

Yelp
Full warning: we came at 10 on a Friday and they were sold out so make sure to come early! They said 8:30am is a good time. We got the last of two bialy's. Hands down such a great bagel. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Bummed out we went after most were sold out so have to return. The service was fast and friendly. Cute place to meet up with friends and have a coffee or bagel. There's seating outside with only a few places to sit inside. PS it's also a mini general store. We walked so can't comment on parking.

Yelp
This is a cute little bagel shop in town if you're looking for a quick breakfast you can take on the go. We ordered one rosemary and sea salt, and one onion bagel, toasted with cream cheese, to eat right away, and then one jalapeno cheddar and one garlic bagel packaged for later. You can buy single-serving cream cheeses in the refrigerated case next to the register. These were some of the best bagels I've tried, and the two we had the next morning were just as good as the ones we ate right away, without even toasting.

Yelp
Delicious fresh bagels! You can choose your bagel and toppings, or a pre selected menu. There is plenty of outdoor seating and it is a super cute spot.

Yelp
Maybe the best bagel I've had, cute lil shop, friendly young lady , cool little things u can buy too

Yelp
Finding bagels of this caliber is a rarity in California, let alone a vacation destination like Idyllwild. They are dense and chewy and fresh-as-i'll-get-out, flavors are inspired (though the good ones sell out early). I loved the Turkish delight latte, what an idea and a big success. However, I think the pricing is pretty seriously insane for bagels. It's steep and gouged even beyond what is characteristic for the IDY village - we spent $42 for two bagel sandwiches and one latte. Like, huh? Still, we'll go back, but we'll just get bagels and schmear to keep it less expensive.

Yelp
I'm impressed! The kitchen is finally finished and they are working on rolling out prepared bagel dishes. They currently have a lox bagel and quite a few schmears. I heard a turkey sandwich is coming this weekend! I tried the LOX BAGEL (half) and wow - I can't say I've ever had a more refreshing bagel than this. A generous glob of cream cheese, soft and easily-biteable lox, juicy sweet tomatoes that would be delicious on their own, just enough capers and a smattering of dill, smooth olive oil, and a friendly lemon on the side. Each element on its own is a treat, but together! The composition! So good! I only wish there was more lemon. Some lemon chunks or a lemon olive oil would really bring it together. Prices remind me of LA. Got the half bagel for $9, and even thought it was half a bagel, the portion was perfect and it filled me up. Whole bagel (open face) is $15 and it's a lot of food. LA prices but you get what you pay for. Absolutely adorable shop and delicious bagels! I will be coming back again and again.

Yelp
Called "Raven Hill Bagels"... only one type of bagel, only pain cream cheese, and it was cold when I got it... toasted, but somehow cold. Oh, and it was like $7+tax+tip... would not recommend... how do people maintain businesses like this?

Jin K.

Yelp
The staff was really friendly and my girlfriend really loved the bagels. Place has bunch of outdoor seating area and it also has a really cozy small book store next door to visit which was also nice. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Came here on the way out from a trip down in idyl-wild and oh how I wish I lived near by so I could eat her all the time! I live in Fontana and my fiancé and I got breakfast here on the way home and WOW was it amazing. The food was amazing the coffee was delicious and the costumer service was amazing the workers were so kind and engaging. The ambiance was also so homey and lovely. I can see why this place has 5 stars.

Yelp
Stayed in Idyllwild for the weekend and absolutely loved these bagels! Found myself thinking of them all day long... the rosemary and seasalt bagel is absolutely delicious! As its December, they have a holiday speciality menu for drinks, the Dirty Eggnog is also so good! The service is good and the people are nice. Its a cute place!

Yelp
What a gem (and super cute place) Raven Hill Bagels is! I recently moved to the area (just one town over) and Idyllwild is the closest town where I have access to groceries. It's proved to be a bit challenging with finding high-quality ingredients that I've been used to getting with ease at shops down the mountain. I didn't realize, until I stepped in and gave it a gander, that it was also a small market with an incredible selection of curated items ranging from spices, to cheeses, and even za'atar and tahini which I honestly wasn't expecting to see in town! Looks like I've found my spot for the next time I'm on the hunt for unique ingredients. I opted to buy two bagels - one poppy seed and one everything - and a small packet of cream cheese during my visit. The prices were very reasonable for these high quality and fresh bagels! The staff were kind, welcoming, and open to answering questions I had. What a perfect day it was to sit outside and eat on the beautiful patio! This is definitely a place I look forward to visiting again and trying both the challah and the special bagels they make on Fridays. An absolute 10/10 in my book! I highly recommend Raven Hill Bagels to both locals and visitors alike - you won't be disappointed. Cheers and happy shopping/eating!

Yelp
The food, service and ambience were perfect! It was a lovely day walking to Raven, we all got bagel breakfast sandwiches. I got the lox and LOOOVED IT! The others all for the Beca (one with avocado) and they all loved it as well. The seasonal peppermint & eggnog lattes were super delish. Also, the Arnold palmers were yummy. The patio is beautiful and wraps around, bigger than it looks and the cute bookstore speakeasy is an added, lovely bones. Highly recommend! Stay lovely, cozy and smiling Raven.

Yelp
The quality of bagel sandwiches here is amazing. I have so far tried the roast beef and bec (bacon, egg, cheese), and both were great. Their lattes are also very good. Very cute shop, and lots of outdoor seating. The employees are also very friendly, and helped recommend food and drink options.

Yelp
Wow! Came to Raven Hill Bagels this weekend and let me tell it was amazing. We had the lox and bagel and Cali sandwich both super fresh and delicious. The bagels were so yummy and love they put seasoning on both sides of the everything bagel. It was so good we came back again next day sand got the lox and bagel again and moon over hammy I think it's called. They sell gourmet snacks too and staff were very friendly. I want to come back and try the Dr. Pepper coffee drink they have. I highly recommend you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I have been here 3-4 times and tried multiple of their bagels. All great (very big!). My favorite of this place is that they carry special cream cheese (high quality with no other bad added ingredients) and European style butter! I have not tried their coffee and other things on the menu but I would love to some day! The outdoor area is nice to sit at! Very peaceful. The staff is friendly. I almost always buy something there whenever I visit Idyllwild.

Alisa W.

Yelp
Amazing place for coffee and bagel and a beautiful ambiance! Service is great too..............

Yelp
This place just keeps getting better... go! This former New Yorker can attest the bagels are amazing! The super nice owners and staff value farm-to-table quality ingredients, freshness and service. They now have bagel sandwiches, coffees and lots of gourmet goodies in their market. Menu is growing all the time and you can eat on the deck among the trees. Best new addition to Idy -- go!

Janelle J.

Yelp
I love the bagels, the lox, the coffee, the people, the music. Great bagel shop. Go early as they can run out of popular bagels.
google avatar

Max A.

Yelp
This place is so cute and the owners are lovely. As a local, we really want to support you but your bagels have no flavor. Please consider adding more salt to the dough. Thanks for your consideration.

T.C. N.

Yelp
Best bagels the family has eaten! I recommend the beca. Can't wait to have it again next time we're in town.

Adrienne J.

Yelp
Way more than just bagels, which are delicious by the way, but they're baked goods are exceptional. The black-and-white cookies are spot on! Originally from New York, I have not found anything yet to be as authentic! Thank you

Js C.

Yelp
Aaaaaamazing bagels!! We opted for the BECA (bacon, egg, cheese and avocado) on a jalapeño cheese bagel. I'm so glad we decided to share. Very generous size! The combo was perfect!! We finished it off with a giant slice of key lime pie which was equally amazing. The Arnold Palmer and cold brew coffee were refreshing! They offer a variety of bagels and beverages and they have a small selection of high end artisan style take home food items. The owners are super welcoming and friendly!! Thanks again for an amazing breakfast!!

Samantha M.

Yelp
Delicious! The staff were friendly and service was quick. I ordered the Cinnamon Sugar bagel with cream cheese and hot honey, my daughter had the Rosemary bagel with scallion cream cheese. Both were good. The texture was great! There was a good balance between chewy and airy. The portion size is good for the price as well. No seating inside, but there are some tables outside that you can eat at.
google avatar

Mary G.

Yelp
Sooo very good! Had the cinnamon bagel. Has been our favorite since they opened. Glad to see they are made there now. Coffee is also very good. The BIGGEST AND BEST surprise Challah cinnamon raisin roll muffin thing (husband couldn't remember). Oh my gosh!!! We split it. Next time (tomorrow) I want my own! Go now get one. You'll be happy you did.
google avatar

Tara G.

Yelp
Cute spot! More of a grab and go spot but great choice of bagels and other goodies. Not much of a coffee selection yet. Loved my rosemary and sea salt bagel.

D V.

Yelp
The best chewy bagels I have had! So delicious! Great market for meats, cheeses, pastas and sauces too. Lots of yummy bagel sandwiches on the menu now too!
google avatar

Kate G.

Yelp
I'm obsessed! This little bagel shop is so worth going to! I got the sea salt thyme bagel and it was so so good. The inside is really cute and they have a little market stocked with local and global grocery items. Definitely check out this gem!
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
Best bagels around!! The owner is wonderful, great customer service, and the store is curated very well. Great seating areas and interior vibe.

Vidal A.

Yelp
Fresh, delicious bagels! Had the lox and jalapeno cheddar with plain cream cheese. BTW, the cream cheese is perfect! Can't wait to try their sandwhiches next time.
google avatar

Jack S.

Yelp
Their bagels might be the best in SoCal. Perfect. I love this place and Idy is so lucky they are there. If you are a visitor its the only solid place for coffee and bagels which are made fresh every day. They don't have donuts or questionable pastries - just goodness.
google avatar

Alyssa L.

Yelp
Wow. I had a great experience this morning, rosemary sea salt bagel and I'm not a bagel person. But it was to die for! I went in twice since I was indecisive the first time I perused in, feeling overexcited about being in this small town with so many cute and appetizing options ... but I'm so glad I turned back around. Both the staff I met at my two visits were warm and welcoming and gave me tips on how to maximize enjoyment in this darling town. Thank you!
google avatar

Matthew D.

Yelp
The bagels are absolutely fantastic! Gracious hospitality and charming atmosphere! Worth the visit and buy!

Danielle S.

Yelp
These bagels are SO fresh and good. Stopped by after checking out of our Airbnb up the street and it was the perfect Idyllwild send-off. The rosemary one was really yummy -- perfect crunch to it... definitely would recommend! I'm from the east coast, so I know a good bagel and these measured up. They are grab and go for now, and it looks like a coffee bar is in the works. No worries, though -- there's a coffee shop right across the street that was perfect for the time-being. Can't wait to stop back on our next trip.

Jody M.

Yelp
What a lovely find! The best bagels we have ever eaten. Kristen was so friendly and helpful! We have a new favorite place for a light breakfast!

Samantha C.

Yelp
Fantastic bagels! Cute new little market and very welcoming. We grabbed a half dozen: plain, cinnamon sugar, pepper Jack and rosemary. They were all delicious and filling. The dough! We will definitely be back and can't wait to see how this business grows.

Dawn F.

Yelp
Yummy! I wish they had gluten free! So good I have broken my 10 year no gluten streak at least 3 times! Too good!

Sean D.

Yelp
Delicious bagels. My wife and I especially liked the rosemary and salt bagel. Don't have fresh roasted coffee yet I believe just Nespresso pods currently), but they are still in the process of opening their kitchen.

Benjamin C.

Yelp
Their bagels are soft and don't have much of a crust to them. They're overpriced at $18 for a half-dozen. Excessive packaging is negative environmentally.
