RavioXO

"In the words of chef Dabiz Muñoz, RavioXO is "the luxury of eating time", a perfect metaphor to express his informal, handcrafted cuisine, which is fully centred on the world of pasta. Here, all the dough, fillings and sauces are individually made using the very best ingredients. In this extensive restaurant, located next to El Corte Inglés’ gourmet dining space on the Paseo de la Castellana, the stylish decor is inspired by Lázaro Rosa-Violán, providing the backdrop for chef Balo Ortiz, who follows the culinary guidelines set out by award-winning Madrid chef Dabiz Muñoz in every dish. RavioXO’s exclusively à la carte cuisine features options that always include some type of pasta, ranging from the superb and innovative dumplings to some of DiverXO’s most celebrated signature dishes." - Michelin Inspector

RavioXO — Restaurant Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"It is Dabiz Muñoz’s newest restaurant, his third in Madrid and an exciting way for those who cannot score a table at his three-Michelin star restaurant DiverXO to get a taste of his food. In here, doughs are the main attraction. Think of pasta and steam but get rid of any preconception you might have of this word to understand the 14 dishes that compose the menu at RavioXO: creations that, at some point, where once members of the culinary offer at DiverXO. Such as the dumpling filled with rabbit pepitoria stew, yellow ají, Chinese spices and carrot textures; or a new version of Muñoz’s Hong Kong interpretation of a Madrilenian stew, with ropa vieja, fried chickpeas, ham broth and black garlic aioli, with a brined cold ravioli filled with quail, sea urchin and jalapeno gazpacho. Juicy bites meant to impress, surprise and keep Muñoz at the top of his game." - Paula Móvil

Superb fusion cooking from Jedi Master Dabiz Muñoz. Bummer note: First they said the caviar was from local Rio Frío, when asked again - they said Iran and when we asked to see the tin , we couldn’t see it was from China

The drinks and food were super creative and tasty. I think it’s a bit pricy for what you get but it’s a fun place to try out at least once!

I went here last week for a tasting menu (150€ pp) and I have a few thoughts about this restaurant, although overall it was a acceptable experience. For the price point of this tasting menu, I expected there to be some kind of suggested wine pairing but there wasn’t - and considering how large the wine list is, and how busy the sommelier was, unless you know what wines you like, it became overwhelming. It was also hard to get the attention of anyone unless they were coming out with a dish for us, which became a waiting game and a bit annoying at times. Service: Everyone we spoke to was very kind and very knowledgeable - in terms of hospitality, this place gets full marks for the atmosphere and experience everyone was trying to maintain, which I appreciated. However, the service of the food was a bit disappointing, again considering the price point of the tasting menu. It felt a bit disorganized - we got the same dish twice by accident, and in one instance the dish toppled over en route to our table (it was a stacked pork belly and dumpling dish) and was quickly brought back to the kitchen to fix before it was given to us again. Again, it felt a bit sloppy even though I didn’t notice the restaurant being particularly busy that evening. Food: The food was overall fine - there were some great moments where a fusion of western and eastern flavors came together wonderfully and in very clever ways. The first 3 plates that came out were definitely some of the most interesting and flavorful of the entire tasting menu. I think my favorite plates were the mortadella-stuffed tortellini soup that also gave the warmth of a hot and sour soup, but also the soft mochi filled with a Thai-like red curry. However, each subsequent dish in this 10-course meal was increasingly rich and indulgent without any opportunities for a refresher (something light and acidic ). This made me enjoy the later dishes less and less because it became a bit too decadent. In addition, a lot of the dishes were in some form of a dumpling which felt a bit too easy and boring, as many of the dishes shared a textural similarity and it became a bit uninteresting flavor-wise as well. As for the desserts, the shaved ice was the type of refreshing break I really needed after a series of really heavy bites, but the churros with ginger/chocolate sauce was my least favorite of the entire tasting menu. The ginger and chocolate flavor did not work as well as they hoped - neither was fragrant enough and as a result the overall flavor felt neither here nor there (however, this was also influenced by the fact that I was overwhelmed from having too much successive rich dishes in a row). Again, considering the price point of this tasting menu I would have expected to enjoy more of the dishes offered and the sequence of how they were presented to us, but unfortunately it didn’t quite reach that level of satisfaction for me. Overall, I’m glad I came to try it, but next time I may just order a la carte and pick the dishes I liked. The wine and cocktails were fabulous though.

I rarely write negative reviews however for a Michelin restaurant I was not amazed by the food, while the portions are Michelin size, the taste is off, seems like too many ingredients are mixed together creating a feeling of being lost and not understanding what I’m eating. The shrimp was actually the only plate I really enjoyed. Everything else was kind of below expectations and downright personally didn’t taste too good. Especially the Ramen, being Italian I kind of felt insulted by the way the pasta was cooked. If it’s Ramen, don’t replace it with burnt spaghetti, please

Food is good. Not exceptional. I was expecting exceptional. But I’m not going to go back. Service was average. Pouring water for part of the group but not all, strange. The waiter was told one member of the group didn’t speak Spanish, but she still spoke in Spanish to explain the food. Recommending a fish dish to my wife which came with a sauce made from qual … very confusing. Lastly not warning us the kitchen was going to close when we were discussing ordering more food - upsetting.

Food really was outstanding. Each course was an explosion of flavors. Managed to get a last minute reservation for lunch and it was so worth it. They suggest to order 8-9 dishes but that’s too much, just stick to 6.

The food was fantastic, but I couldn’t get over the fact that they charged us €3.50 per glass of water. They poured the water from a jug, and didn’t tell us there was a charge (it seemed like they were pouring free tap water). They also refilled our glasses without us asking, which was another €3.50 per glass. So in the end we paid €14 for water without being told. I don’t mind paying for things when I know the cost, but this felt deceptive and dishonest. Go for the food, but just know in advance that the water is €3.50 per pour and maybe order a fun drink instead.

Amazing place in terms of food, 5/5 stars. Service was good but could be better for price you pay. Ambience is cool, hip and eclectic, just what you expect from this place - but it's not fine dining like you might be used to. It's like eating in a hip bar.
