It was the first time coming in here. I was having dinner with my daughter. The edamame was amazing, The sushi that we ordered was good. The teriyaki chicken was a little bit too tough and another thing I did not care about was. They put my salad on the same plate with the teriyaki chicken and steamed rice. With the salad dressing, the salad was making the rice and the teriyaki chicken too soggy. Next time I come here I will tell them to put the salad in a separate salad plate. The food is good. Don't get me wrong. I just do not like salad with salad dressing next to my rice and teriyaki chicken making it soggy. I will come back again. Maybe next time we'll come back for lunch.

Google
Place has the best sushi in Modesto. Fresh food, quick service, and beautiful decorations. My only negative complaint is how loud it gets from the echo in the building. Other than that this place is 5 stars.

We sat at the bar. It's amazing to see the artistic impressions these sushi chefs create. I didn't know which roll to choose so we asked for a recommendation. The chef asked what I liked and made this personally, for me 🥹. The added fried jalapenos on the side were an amazing addition!!...🍣👨🏾‍🍳 Thank you for your creativity

Google
Their sushi is good, and their beef is great. The staff isn't overly pretentious/snobby, like many of the upscale places downtown. They have their customers for a reason. They only do reservations Monday-Thursday, but since it is downtown, you can walk around the corner to grab a drink while you're waiting for your table.

We walked in and the place looked packed, with no reservation we thought we were out of luck, but the place is bigger than I thought and we were seated right away. Raw Sushi is a great place for sushi and hot entrees. We loved everything we had and will be back. The service was just wonderful. Our server was so kind and spent time explaining the menu to us. We wanted to try quite a few things and did. Our food was brought pretty fast, but we were never rushed. All of it was grand. The place is so cute and super clean. They take really good care of it. We parked on the street with no problem. We had the Nigira and Roll combination and it was super. It had 5 pieces and we had a great California roll with it. We also had fried oyster and loved that as well. All so very fresh. We tried several of their house rolls; BTS, salmon and tuna steak and found them super yummy. The snow crab California rolls were among our favorite ones. You get a decent amount of crab. We also had entrees of sesame chicken and grilled salmon. Now, these were the best of the night for us. The salmon was perfect as was the chicken. The prices are fair for all you get and we just really had a great time.

We had been looking forward to splurging at Raw for a while. Arrived and immediately sat down. Ordered and was not disappointed at all. Portions, freshness, and flavors were all on point. We over ordered and over ate! The miso was the only item I would not have to have again. It wasn't bad, but for the price, it wasn't something I needed, especially when most Japanese restaurants throw it in for free. Our waiter was attentive and kept our beverages full.

Raw Sushi is hands down the best sushi spot in town! The food is always fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The cocktails are just as impressive — creative, balanced, and crafted with care. The overall vibe is modern, energetic, and welcoming — perfect for a night out. What truly elevated our experience was the exceptional service we received at the bar area — specifically from Matt. He’s not only a talented sushi chef and server, but also incredibly friendly, attentive, and quick to help. Even though we weren’t seated at a traditional table, the level of service he provided went above and beyond what you’d typically expect — and that speaks volumes. At one point, I asked if a certain roll was fried. He said it wasn’t — but immediately offered to fry it for me if that’s what I preferred. That kind of thoughtfulness and flexibility is rare and really made an impression. Matt checked in just the right amount, ensured everything was spot on, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. We’ll absolutely be requesting Matt next time we visit — and Raw Sushi, if you’re listening: this guy is a gem. Give him a raise!

Yelp
I can't believe it's taken me this long to write this review. There are not enough letters and words to describe Raw. I'm from LA and I can embarrassingly say I've tried the most bougie sushi there and NONE OF THEM compare to Raw. Everytime I have sushi in LA now, I always say, "this was not as good as Raw." Firstly, Bea, Angelo, and Vo are our favorites. We love seeing them, talking to them, and just having a good time with them. When they aren't there, it makes me sad. The other bartenders and chefs are also amazing too! Everyone is always on point and so friendly. Secondly, the atmosphere can be sexy and casual at the same time. We've gone there dressed up for date night and chill for a quick dinner. It's always clean and spacious. Cocktails are all delicious. Not overly sweet. They have an amazing variety of everything. We love their sake selection, liquor choices, and wines. Never any complaints with beverages. End your meal with an espresso martini bc they don't have dessert here. The martini is the best way to end your meal for a sweet-fix. Food is PHENOMENAL. I can't even suggest anything bc it's all delicious. But some of my go-to dishes are the garlic spicy edamame, fried oysters, uni (to die for), Dante's Inferno (have Vo lather it with buldak sauce), lomi lomi, yellowtail hand roll, oyster shooters, and if you want something cooked, the salmon teriyaki is pretty good! All their sashimi is so fresh. You can't go wrong with a platter of the chef's choice. We always make sure to come here when I'm back in town. I love it. See you guys again. Get those tequila shots chilled for us, Angelo. ;)

Yelp
Back in Modesto for the summer visiting some friends and family. Had to return to Raw, it's one of the better sushi places in Modesto! Get the garlic edamame and I like the Dante's inferno roll. Previous times I've also had the bacon wrapped asparagus which is yummy. Great quality, worth the price, best quality sushi in Modesto and wonderful atmosphere

Eva C.

Yelp
I got the fried Philadelphia roll and it looked like this. Very disappointing. The garlic edamame was really good though.

Yelp
If you want to take your significant other out for a nice intimate dinner, this is not the place. Heard that this place had great food so I wanted to take my wife out for a nice dinner date. Even though the waitlist was about an hour we decided to wait. It was obvious how loud this place was as soon as we walked in. We were seated next to a table of 8 individuals. Immediately after being seated it was apparent that this table were be extra loud and belligerent, specifically one of the guys. We politely asked the waiter if we could be moved to a table away from this party. Even another table next to us asked to be moved. The waiter was able to move the table of 4 sitting next to us to another table but informed us that he was not able to find a table for us. By the time our food came out we were so fed up with this large party next to us being so loud and obnoxious, that we just told the waiter to box our food up. I'd rather just enjoy my food in the comfort of my home. We couldn't enjoy ourselves. Just observing other tables around this loud table it was apparent that we weren't the only ones displeased with how loud they were being. I wish the management had a little more control of their establishment when it comes to situations like this. Food was ok, not good enough to put up with the environment you are trying to enjoy it in.

Yelp
Sooo goood! We went to Raw for a work lunch meeting around 11:30am-12pm and were seated immediately. Our server was very attentive and kind. Our appetizers were brought out really quickly and the restaurant started to fill up fast, as it's located downtown. Popular place to have lunch in the area. I think it's definitely a cute location for a date night, great ambiance and good bar selection too! Overall as a group we rate it a 4.5.

Jesse G.

Yelp
My husband i enjoy coming here for date night. We need to come before since it gets a bit too loud and wait time gets out of hand. Food is good and of course my favorite thing order is their spicy edamame! It's always a must!

Yelp
Came here for lunch after work. I ordered the gin drink, I believe called the Spritz. It was strong! I ordered the California Roll and the crunchy rainbow roll. Both were yummy and filling. We loved eating here. Can't wait to try more rolls next time. P.S. the Japanese version of pot stickers were good.

Yelp
Had lunch here today finally. What a great place. We arrived around noon and were greeted and seated immediately. It wasn't packed but it was lively and filling up for the lunch time rush. We tried the garlic edimame and i highly recommend it. I've never seen this somewhere but they were delicious and lots of them as well. For the main roll i got the spicy dragon and hamachi ngiri. Both were fantastic. Wife got a spicy tuna handroll which was packed full of tuna. She enjoyed her meal as well. I think her roll was named tataki something. The service was also great. I didnt get their name (sorry) but we never needed anything and she checked in on us mulitple times. Price was a little high but i feel it is more than fair for quality of food and service. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Celebrating a birthday in the 209, Raw Sushi seems to be a spot that a lot of locals frequent, and I get why, the food is solid! We came on a weekend, and the wait time was around 45 minutes for dinner. If you are able to snag a reservation, it's definitely worth it because this place gets packed. With the wait, we started with some drinks at the bar. Modelos are like $6.50 and cocktails are around $15-20. The jalapeno margarita isn't overly spicy but they are strong. Opt for a salt or tajin rim for some extra flavor. Once we sat down, we ordered the spicy edamame for the table to share. And I don't know what they put in that sauce, but damn, I crave these edamame all the time. Good balance of spicy and creamy, 1000% recommend. For dinner my SO and I split a chicken katsu plate and their dante's inferno roll. The chicken katsu was good, although I wish they offered a pork tonkatsu instead. The plate comes with a generous side salad and rice. The dantes inferno roll was just as good as last time. The crispy fried jalapenos are a nice touch. It's one of those rolls that we order every time we visit. If you look at the pricing, it seems kinda steep for the 209, but I think the portion sizes more than make up for it. The portions are huge and most things are enough for two meals for smaller appetites. This is one of those spots that I wouldn't hesitate visiting or recommending if you find yourself in the area.

Yelp
Arrived around 630 and it was busy! Busy but we only waited like 15 min or less? Server was attentive, she was very nice. Food was amazing and I love how they put all your rolls in one big plate aha.

Alex C.

Yelp
Service is very slow, waited more that 20 minutes to get our drinks and waitress barely cared for any of the tables in my area.

Yelp
Pretty good sushi, a bit pricey. Fun vibe. Service is good. Gets busy, you may want reservations!

Yelp
We have eaten at raw a few times over the years. Each time, we were left flat by the experience. The food is decent, the atmosphere is fine - the service, however, leaves you with the impression that you are fortunate to be there. This isn't isolated, we have literally felt this way every time. Invariably, a year or two go by and we decide 'maybe it was just us' and give it another try, only to be disappointed. This time around, we didn't get a chance to let the food offset the experience. We made a reservation at opening for (what we thought) was Saturday - we arrived to find out that they don't do weekend reservations - even though the site we used didn't make this clear (not Yelp), it just defaulted to Monday. The hostess handled the issue like it was common and was 'fake apologetic'. She said there was a minimum of a 45 minute wait. Now....that is fine, but I counted no less than 6 tables set and open throughout the space - perhaps light staff... whatever. We asked if we could eat at the bar, as there were 5+ seats available. She said sure and we walked over to discover reserved signs on all 5 spots - and a grinning sushi chef repeating the word sorry (no explanation). We went down the road. So here is the thing - you can choose to not offer reservations on certain nights - be clear about it - don't blame it on Yelp. However, if you claim no reservations - you should probably take the reserved signs off the bar - while it is your option to do a 'cool kids club' - or whatever the rationale is for such nonsense - you will certainly do more damage to potential regular customers. This is Modesto, not the bay. You certainly won't have an issue with us or our family - that little voice about service we have heard for years is now locked in

Yelp
Raw Sushi is the best sushi spot in town -- fresh food, amazing cocktails, and a great vibe. What really made our visit unforgettable was the exceptional service we got at the bar from Matt. He was friendly, fast, and incredibly attentive. When I asked if a roll was fried, he said no -- but offered to fry it for me! That kind of service, especially at the bar vs. a seated table, is next-level. We'll definitely ask for Matt again next time. He deserves a raise!

Yelp
Came on a Saturday night with 2 girlfriends. I would suggest reservations because we had a 45 minute wait. They did let us order drinks from the bar and wait outside with them. I tried the mango sunrise, which was delicious! Once sat, we had the spicy garlic edamame and calamari. Both were super delicious. The edamame sauce was so garlicky and creamy. The calamari was perfectly crisp and tender. For my roll, I tried the BTS. This roll was fried smoked salmon and cream cheese, topped with tuna, Hamachi, salmon, tomatoes, red onions and tobiko. I've never had fresh tomato on a sushi roll before. My friends got the scs (tempura asparagus and spicy tuna with spicy scallops, spicy tuna, avocado, spring mix and tobiko) and the Dante's inferno (shrimp tempura and avocado with sesame seared tuna, fresh salmon, fried jalapeños and tobiko) I tried all of them and thought they were all really good. We also got a bottle of lychee sake. This sake is dangerous because it's so light and goes down easy. You get a nice lychee flavor.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night. It was definitely busy. We waited for close to an hour. But the service was great and we were able to get drinks at the bar while we waited! The conversations were good and the drink was flowing So at some point I realized this is like a sister restaurant to the one in Elk Grove! Anyways food is amazing. Vibes is amazing. It's smaller on the inside but still plenty of seating and tons of Saki options of course. Highly recommend

Yelp
Raw sushi has delicious food . The ambience is really nice and it's always clean. But I find it really expensive. But the people are friendly, customers service is always the best .

Yelp
Randomly in Modesto for work and started to crave sushi. I must say, this place exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for the evening. I dined alone so I was able to just sit and unwind. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the rainbow rolls. The rainbow rolls were a visual delight, showcasing a beautiful array of colors and fresh ingredients. Each bite was a perfect blend of flavors and textures, with the fish being incredibly fresh and the rice perfectly seasoned. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall fantastic dining experience. I highly recommend checking this place out for their outstanding rainbow rolls. It's a place where you can truly appreciate the art of sushi and enjoy a memorable meal. If I'm ever in Modesto again I'm definitely coming back.

Yelp
The food and the atmosphere were both really good. I liked the pickled wasabi our waiter recommended, delicious. We got the rainbow roll and the spicy tuna roll and they were both high quality, we also liked the miso soup and the veggie tempura. I would recommend making a reservation or getting your name on the wait-list a while before you want food, the wait for us was around an hour at 6:15.

Cristina M.

Yelp
Made a reservation for 5:15pm and got here at 4:50pm and there was already a line forming when they open at 5pm. Great, fast service. Appetizers came out fast. Rolls were delicious. The restaurant filled up within 1 hour and the ambiance was amazing . Make a reservation if you don't want to wait!

Sue S.

Yelp
One of the best sushi spots I've tried in Modesto! I recommend sitting at the bar with Bee! Not only does she know her drinks she knows what to recommend on the menu too. But on the end she really is the best mixologist in town. Phu is the sushi chef and his creations do not have words. Amazing is to low to describe him.

Laura H.

Yelp
Best sushi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Raw is always best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at my mans face cheesy as ever

Yelp
Great food! Great environment & service. Been here numerous times & enjoy it every single time

Yelp
Food was delicious! although, will not be returning and recommend everyone to steer away from this site. It is an uncomfortable setting as we can hear what I believe to be the headchef degrading his employees in the kitchen. It is unprofessional and quite immature and he ruined the experience for my family. Please do not go here and spend your money at businesses who preach kindness within their meals!
google avatar

Yelp
Easy to make a reservation was my first favorite part of my evening at Raw Sushi Bistro. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated right away. The drink menu was appealing and the mixed drink I indulged in was crafted well. The rolls we ordered were fresh and tasty! It was refreshing and the atmosphere was welcoming. Will be coming back!

Kellie M.

Yelp
We had been looking forward to dining at Raw for months. Since we live out of town, we planned our visit around a show at the Gallo Center, securing a sitter and calling the night before at 8:40 PM to make a reservation for 5:45 PM the next day. When we arrived, the hostess couldn't find our reservation and initially just said, "Yeah, there's no reservation here, so..." with no apology or effort to resolve the issue. After a few minutes, she finally added, "I believe you, it's just that no one wrote it down." Her tone was casual, as if this was a common issue, and she showed zero initiative to check if a table might be opening up sooner. Instead, she just told us we'd have to wait about 45 minutes, making it clear we likely wouldn't be able to eat there before our 7 PM show. Frustrated, we left and went to Churchkey, where we had an amazing experience. A little effort or empathy from the staff at Raw could have softened the blow, but the indifference made it worse. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

Yelp
Great place for sushi. Love the atmosphere . I strongly recommend this place. Bartenders are skilled as well. You won't regret your visit

Yelp
My family and I had dinner at Raw in late November to celebrate my sons birthday. I'll start off with the complaint since that is really what's prompting me to write the review. We were seated at a table near the bar. During dinner we noticed a couple that was seated at the bar was accompanied by their dog, which looked to be a Yorkie (or similar). Not sure if it was a puppy or just a small breed but nonetheless a dog at the sushi bar, directly in front of the people making sushi. I have nothing against dogs, I am a dog parent. I am however against people that bring their non service dogs into restaurants and grocery stores, you know, places that serve or sell food. I'm also against establishments that allow it, and Raw appears to allow it. Since these guys were at the bar in front of the employees. It wasn't like the dog was on the floor it was in the lap of one of the guys and on the counter in front of them. I'm not sure if they were regulars but none of the employees batted an eye about it. I was "this close" to asking for the manager or whoever was in charge at the time BUT I didn't want to make a scene, I'll just "choose" to not come back. I get it, it wasn't a hairy slobbering large breed dog. I'd imagine the health code would discriminate on the breed. The positives were the food was good, the portion sizes for the entrees was ample. The Ambiance was nice although a little loud maybe because of the spacious building.

Yelp
The best spicy edamame around! It's one of my favorite places to eat and drink in Modesto. The service is excellent and the ambience is perfect. It's always busy, but I don't mind waiting.
google avatar

Melissa D.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this place. First of all, it's too dark. I get it. They want you to know that you're in a fancy place. But it felt pretentious for lunch. My salad, California Roll, and Crunchy Roll were good but forgettable. There wasn't enough crunch in the Crunchy Roll. The little bit of crunch felt stale. They are overpriced, but it's expected in this area. Our server seemed nervous or uncomfortable. We're friendly ladies; not sure why he was so tense. I loved the company (my BFF). :-) Her chicken was pretty good.
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
You'll never be disappointed in this restaurant! Yes you may have a wait time because they are just that good and busy! The food is always 10/10.
google avatar

Mari C.

Yelp
We celebrated my friend's birthday here. I think this place is known more for being trendy than their their food. Their food is good but not waiting an hour to get a table good. If you are not one of the first few parties seated then you end up waiting 45-60 for a table. Their drinks are also good but a bit pricey. It's definitely a good place to hang out with friends.
google avatar

J'Ceelinn S.

Yelp
We came here with a party of 8 & sat immediately with our reservation (which I highly suggest making one). Once sat we had some trouble with the servers trying to figure out who got the table, so we had to order drinks and apps twice which was kinda annoying. Apps and drinks came out quick, the garlic edamame was delicious, yellowtail razor was AMAZING. Jalapeño margarita I would highly recommend. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because, it took a while for our server to come back to get our order for our rolls, apps were already finished when she came back. Once we had our rolls we had no space on the table because she didn't pre-bus the table so we got up and found the busser to clear our own table to make space. Not a big deal but not ideal while we're trying to enjoy ourself.

Yelp
TLDR: fish was good, service was questionable Tried to order the Chirashi, but the waitress says she really likes the Sashimi Mix. Ok great. I try to ask why and what's the difference between the two. But in a series of back and forth I get unintelligible vague answers. I simply ask if there's a difference in quality or variety, with not much luck. Whatever let's do the Sashimi. I have a direct view of the sushi bar. Out of 4 guys behind the bar, 3 of them are staring at the only drunk fool at the bar ramble away, with the 4th guy finally making my ticket. (I know it's my order b/c the guy brings the plate to the pass area and the waitress hands it to me). The restaurant is quarter-full with apparently no other sushi orders and it takes 10 minutes to cut the sashimi (4 kinds; 13 pcs), pretty slow all things considered, but no deal breaker. When the sashimi arrives, I ask her what fish it is, since after the first exchange I'm curious what I'm given. And I'm met with a "salmon (clearly), and I think blue fin tuna annddd I *think* another tuna". Ok I guess most people rarely care to ask. BTW both tunas looked and tasted pretty much the same. Also "fun" was a different waiter hollering across the whole restaurant at another waiter "Serge" right behind and over me. Haha, thanks for including me in your chat homies. Mind you most of this happened when the restaurant owner/manager and his gf and baby were at the sushi bar. So clearly this wasn't atypical behavior. Call me anal or pretentious if you want, but these are the facts. Simple missteps that just distract. Everything just gave me a Super casual "whatever" feel, not "nice sushi bar" vibe.

Yelp
I visited my friend Turlock, this is his favorite sushi place in town so he took me here couple of weeks and I like it so we came back here last night Friday night, it was packed with many people waiting so we were gonna leave but the owner recognized my friend and he came to us and told us we would be able to sit in any min but there were couple of seats at the bar so we sat immediately. Last time we were here, the owner was there too. We started with my friend's favorite salmon ceviche again I'd never tried salmon ceviche before this place but this is delicious, and I got my favorite yellowtail jalapeño, and my favorite nigiri sweet shrimp with heads, I got my friend hooked on it and he loves it and he also eats the whole head like me. And we got a couple rolls and I loved fried jalapeño that came the roll, those were so good better than French fries! I also like the fact that they have all the good sake and Japanese whisky I like and my favorite Azul tequila. This is a really good sushi place in the valley, I also like the atmosphere, and I will come back again for sure next time I visit my friend in Turlock...

Yelp
The food here is good. The only issue I have is the staff is very rude. There was someone working the bar with red hair with a really bad attitude. She was not welcoming or inviting. She didn't smile at customers.
google avatar

Roni C.

Yelp
This has become our favorite spot for lunch during week days and sometimes weekends. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very attentive. Love their food and the quality is excellent. Even their portions are fair compared to other sushi joints around town who cannot even meet Raw Sushi's standards. Overall, love the ambiance of this place, food, and service. They also have a beautiful bar which is a perfect place to have a drink and have a quick bite to eat. My only suggestions is to be prepared to wait on weekends and night dining. They are very busy during those times so don't just drop in expecting to get a table right away.

Yelp
Nico is the best server hands-down! He returned my wallets and leftover after I was half to my car in the parking lot

Yelp
I had made reservations on January 2025, for my birthday dinner which was on April 1, 2025 for 7:30PM for a party of fifteen. I even called last week to confirm my reservation. I had got there at 7PM my sister and her mom were already there by 6:30PM. When I came in at 7PM I had my son, my daughter their partners and my partner with me, so in total, there was 8 of us in the restaurant 9 with my dad waiting in the car, meaning that's more than 1/2 of us there in the restaurant. The host stated we will get your table ready for you. Which by the way, I didn't get the host name, but she was amazing. Upon arrival the restaurant was not busy at all in fact, that that's probably the emptiest I've ever seen the restaurant. Well we were not seated until about 8:15PM and the restaurant closed at 9PM. Shelby, our waitress that sat us and served us was extremely rude, she told me well half of your party is not here and that's why we weren't seated and I stated there has been eight of us since 7PM. Shelby was just so rude like I did something wrong, she was never apologetic and gave us dirty looks as she setup the table and as we ate while she waited at the bar for us to be done with more dirty looks and whispering things to her coworkers, as she waited for us to be done to get her tip. We felt rushed and not once did she ask if we like refills on our drinks either. I am not the only one who noticed the dirty looks my son, and his girlfriend noticed as well and it made us feel very very uncomfortable, which is very unprofessional. Our bill was a total of $354.72 if Shelby had been nice and professional, I would have left her a nice tip but because she wasn't I just left her the gratuity. I myself, work in a restaurant and I am the general manager there and I would never in a million years have treated my guest the way we were treated by Shelby. Shelby was frustrated with us because we asked her a few times when would we be seated and she stated I can't kick customers out, which I understand that but from my experience, if you reserve a table especially three months in advance, you should have a table ready on time. It was very unprofessional of them like I said, and this isn't the first time this happened to us. This happened to us the day after Christmas as well my brother had made reservations and we didn't get seated until almost an hour and 20 minutes later. I understand businesses get busy like I said I am a general manager myself at a restaurant, but if you guys cannot have reservations ready for your guests then maybe you shouldn't have reservations or you need to plan ahead because clearly this was not planned out. This just really put a damper on my birthday dinner and ruined my birthday for me. My daughter's boyfriend had to leave early without eating because he had to work at 4AM. Like I said, the waitress was very unprofessional no matter how unprofessional she was, I was very professional very polite because I treat people how I want to be treated. This server definitely needs to be talked to and to be managed correctly because of her poor customer service and rudeness my family and I will not be returning to this restaurant and that's a bummer because I really like this restaurant and love the food. I am not one to leave reviews, but because of this incident, it left me no choice. The reason why I did give it a one star is because the food is great and so is the atmosphere besides Shelby being rude and unprofessional. Raw please talk to this employee, so you don't lose other customers. I did ask for the manager/owner but was told he was not in at the time.

Yelp
Never wrote a review before but the disrespect and racism I just experienced is beyond disrespectful. Just walked out right now. The server was so so rude. It was clear from the start she was being racist. We had a reservation and were running late I called ahead of time to let them know. We walked in and told me "oh you're the one who called." I asked her how long it would take she said she doesn't know just once a table opens. When I saw a table open I told her and she said well there's someone waiting which wasn't true. Then I went up to her telling her we have been waiting and things just escalated from there she was being so rude rolling her eyes and started cussing at me and my friends. We just walked out at that point but I will never go back. If being late was the issue she should have told me once I called, even then if when I walked in she could've just said you guys are too late. Would give 0 if I could. The people I spoke to are Jackie and Brianna can't speak on Brianna because she came in later but she sided with Jackie and was also rude but Jackie was clearly racist.

Yelp
And once again, the food, the service impeccable, the ambience phenomenal, I'm not sure if it was the manager or the owner. When they first opened we came in roughly about 8 PM. He came to us, personally, offered sake, come and join him.... Our pics of sushi and rose were top shelf. I'll leave those out just to tickle your curiosity, but their service and food was excellent. We recommend going there for special nights or just any night. We will not be let down, let me say the food is exquisite. It's the way sushi and any of its menu taste like it's that much more.

Yelp
Very nice setting but very loud. Food was very good. The garlic edamame was very tasty, sashimi was great and all the rolls were good. Service was probably the only downside but the server tried. Overall a good restaurant.

Yelp
In Modesto there are very few options for really good sushi and cocktails. Raw definitely has both! We ordered a Lychee Martini, Sidecar and a old fashion. All were great! The rolls were amazing but we especially loved the Neff Roll and the Dante Roll. The ambiance is great for a date night, in our case a double date! They had a beautiful Christmas tree as you walk in making it feel very festive. Tips: There is almost always a wait check in and grab drinks at the bar before dinner. You'll be seated before you know it. The wait is well worth it.

Yelp
Great environment, wonderful staff and very good prices! The food was delicious (I had a tuna roll, and the teriyaki chicken app) my friend had the salmon plate and we both left more than happy. Definitely recommend.
