The East Bay Gets Hella Hella Bagels With the Opening of ... Hella Bagels in Albany | Eater SF

"Opening in St. Helena on Tuesday, March 5, I saw chef Rachel Williams bring Texas-style breakfast tacos from a farmer’s-market booth into a permanent restaurant. Expect tacos named after women in history and Williams’ family — for example, the Biddy, made with brisket, cucumber dill slaw, pomegranate seeds, and cotija on a flour tortilla — plus Saturday brunch items like chilaquiles and plans to add dinner service down the line." - Dianne de Guzman

The Real Deal is Ray Ray’s Tacos which brings some favors, fun food names, and fun atmosphere to boot… Let’s kick it off with the service that starts with ordering at the register then move to open seating indoor or outdoor and then the food is delivered to your table. Overall staff was good at getting the food out and knowledgeable about the menus about options. Moving swiftly to the atmosphere that is basic, could use some more decor to bring a memorable experience in the indoor dining. Nice job of maximizing the outdoor space and big bench style seating indoor. Now to the main Event: da Food! Let’s start with the chip and guacamole dip which was fresh with good balance of ingredients, good portion for the small size dip 9/10. The next two tacos are called the Victoria with steak and chicken which is an option for all tacos to swap the meat choice and the tortilla type. Important note the flour tortilla was homemade. The Victoria steak taco has really fresh ingredients, amazing flour tortilla but the steak flavor was lacking big time 6.5/10. The Victoria chicken was really delicious, chicken had got flavor sauce it was cooked in with fresh ingredients 8/10. The Angelina taco was really good with a ton favor, juicy, fresh ingredients, amazing flour tortilla solid 9/10. The Claudette taco which had flavored sauce shrimp was just ok 6/10. Overall pretty good lunch stop but could use a little more work of these taco, cheers!

Google
Amazing tacos, the Debbie breakfast with shredded brisket is life changing. Staff is always great and the owner is always willing to give good ideas. Heard her direct folks ti the Station for great coffee while their tacos were made. Phenomenal service

Google
My favorite place in St. Helena for a casual bite! I love the breakfast tacos (especially the Mildred) anytime of day and the special taco of the month is always a hit. Lots of vegetarian options. Wonderful, friendly service, especially owner Rachel. I'm so grateful to have Ray Ray's in town!

Eileen R.

Google
Delightful local business with a very personal, neighborhood vibe, warmth serving fabulous innovative tacos at affordable prices. The breakfast tacos lure me back to St. Helena on a regular basis and the other offerings never fail to delight. So glad Ray Ray's is here!!

Google
Warm, inviting, and welcoming atmosphere. On main Street in Napa valley. Everything is made fresh every day. You can taste and appreciate the freshness! Very reasonably priced. It's definitely worth the visit. Ower is on location and is welcoming to guests.

Google
So tasty! Highly recommend the Victoria and the Rosalie. Absolutely delicious! Don’t miss out on the awesome guacamole and great salsa as well. Has a variety of foods for vegetarian and vegan folks. 10/10 would recommend!

Sampada P.

Google
Delicious tacos at reasonable prices. Lots of options for drinks. They can make any taco vegetarian by subbing vegetarian beans for the meat (NOT all taco places will do this🤷🏻‍♀️). The flavors and ingredients are innovative- never had a kumquat as a taco topping.

Google
My go-to spot for a healthy, delicious take on salads, tacos and Ray-Ray's seasonal specials. From the origins of her taco booth at the Farmer's Market, the restaurant is a great addition to the core of St. Helena for us locals -- and a "can't miss" for those rolling through town. Get a taco kit to take home if you can't linger for a meal and chat with Rachel and her caring staff. True woman-owned, community-supporting start-up. Great cookies, too!

Yelp
Woman owned business! Rachel a.k.a. Ray Ray opened her restaurant after acquiring a local following at the Farmers Market. She is the chef and the waitress, busser and everything else! Family helps out when short staffed, and you can find her husband Josh behind the register! The menu includes all day breakfast tacos, churro pancakes, the ever popular chilaquiles, specialty tacos, salads and more. Many vegetarian & vegan choices! Everything is fresh! Named after women family members and legendary women who made history! MUST ORDER: chips and guacamole!! Best EVER. Prove me wrong. We had the quesobirria tacos and a fresh and light taco salad. Beans were not heavy, but smooth and simple. The rice tasted like authentic Mexican made rice. Lots of food! The tables have historical fun facts. Self serve water and salsa bar. Clean, open and big tables. 100% recommend! Meet the family, support local and fill your belly! Buy a hat!

Yelp
Doing a dog sit in Oakville and knew we had to revisit Ray Ray's! Lucky us, Rachel was there today. We had: Lady Bird Salad, Florence taco (vegetarian), Biddy taco and 3 Amigas dips and chips. We have enough leftovers for another meal. As always, the flavors are fantastic and the portions plentiful.

Yelp
Loved this spot! So cute! We were here maybe a year ago and saw that they had just opened. We wanted to go but didn't get a chance to make it work. Stopped by for quick lunch on Thursday around noon. So many great options! Breakfast taco menu is available all day. I was tempted by them but we ended up getting the quesabirria tacos instead. 3 tacos that had perfectly melted cheese with well seasoned brisket. The vegan refried beans were delicious - what's the secret to making it vegan and so yummy??? The side rice was good too. Our friends had some tacos and drinks. They loved it too! Super clean bathroom. Self service salsa and water. Loved all of it and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We had the opportunity to have breakfast tacos from Ray Ray's at the Napa Farmers Market. They were a good start to the day but that orange sauce! Wow! Hot tasty and just a must.
google avatar

Yelp
Great staff and friendly! I ordered one taco, the brisket with cucumber slaw and pomegranate seeds. I really liked the soft shell and how they grilled it. Hit the spot during the in-between afternoon hours. The venue is cafeteria style but very clean and spacious. Right on the main road. Affordable! Ideal place to stop if you like tacos and need to grab a quick bite. They had vegetarian options.

Yelp
After a long journey from Virginia, my fiancé and I were happy to make it to St. Helena. We were looking for a quick dinner option that wouldn't break the bank and Ray Ray's Tacos was the spot for us. You order up front at the counter and then they bring the food to your table. On our visit, I ordered the Florence taco and the Angelina taco. The carnitas in the Angelina was really nice. I also adored all the veggies and how they were cooked in the Florence. My fiancé got the Carnitas Tacos (which was the priciest thing on the menu for $20). They were pretty good. I kept stealing the guac it came with. This is a really cute and charming restaurant. I loved all the seating options available both inside and outside. We chose to sit outside. I loved all the people watching. Things close early here, so it was nice to find this taco spot in time. They had one single gender neutral restroom here. It's a great stop for a quick, casual, and affordable place to eat.

Yelp
We were visiting on a vacation to go see wineries and my husband found this gem! Of course we love tacos, but this place hit the spot! You don't always want something super heavy and this place had all the flavors and everything tasted fresh. The green salsa was my fave! Mamas: YES! They have a changing table for changing the baby. Great work @Ray Ray! Get a few tacos, chips & guac an and drink and your tummy will thank you. Prices were reasonable and we were able to find a parking spot pretty close on the street around the corner. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but I chose the window seating so we could look outside. I wish they had this place near my home, it was delicious!

Yelp
3.5 stars I am not going to lie, I wanted to like it more than I did. First off, I do applaud them for creating inventive tacos with unusual ingredients. I went with the suggestion of the guy behind the counter and ordered the carnitas with pickled kumquats and the brisket with the dill cucumbers. I thought the flavors were unique and on point, but texturally, I found them to be boring and kind of dry. I thought the carnitas would have been ten times better if they crisped them up on the griddle. The brisket taco I felt was more successful, but, again, I got a little bored with it half way through. Also, at $7-9 per taco, that shit better be bangin' (I dock points for lack of value.....sorry, I'm totally that bitch).

Yelp
Order: Biddy, Angelina, Penny's queso, and large chips. At first glance, I was surprised that the total came to $32. It felt a bit steep, especially with one taco priced at over $8. The **Biddy** was good. I really enjoyed the fresh vegetables, and the shredded brisket with pomegranate on top added a refreshing twist. The **Angelina**, however, stole the show. The carnitas were cooked to perfection, and the flavors came together beautifully. Their hottest salsa was a pleasant surprise--both incredibly spicy and packed with flavor. It elevated everything I paired it with. As for the chips and queso, they were outstanding. I added a bit of the hot salsa to the queso for an extra kick, and it was perfect. Not a single bite was left behind. **Tacos:** 8.1 **Chips and Queso:** 8 Overall, while the price is on the higher side, the quality makes it worth it. I'd definitely go out of my way to eat here again!

Yelp
I came up to St Helena this morning to just explore, when I noticed this place and a sign that said breakfast tacos! Now, one thing about me, I discovered breakfast tacos a few years back, while in Austin, and have feverishly searched for them in the Bay with zero luck. So, obviously I had to pop in! I ordered the Dolores with brisket, and my only regret is that it was so filling that I could only eat the one! It was so filling and absolutely delicious! My only suggestion would be if the cheese were melty, but that's me nitpicking! I can't wait to come back! Also, worth a mention that the lady at the register was very sweet and helpful in walking me through the various salsas.
google avatar

Mandy L.

Yelp
Fabulous flavor, inventive options such as roasted carrot tacos and pickled kumquats! Who knew I needed both in my life up to this point? Super affordable, delicious flavor, easy to find and sit. Communal tables, so sharing is caring. They had me at queso! Anywhere that wants to add queso to their menu is typically my kinda place! The texture wasn't textbook smooth but we devoured it anyway, flavor was delicious. It was excellent to add to my tacos along with the 4 salsas they make in house. The tomatillo one was my favorite. Overall, I can't wait to go back and try more options. So many choices!

Yelp
4.5 Super visit. Quick service. Simple ambiance. Tried a variety of tacos. All weee super tasty. Well prepared and simple but tasty! I had the Camilla and it was filled with scrambled eggs and a couple of slices of avocado. The other tacos were excellent too. I think this is a 5 star spot...soon at new location I highly recommend this place!
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
First time I've been to the place. They seem to do a lot of carry out food. Plenty of eating space to sit down and relax. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. Nice variety of items to choose from even if you're vegetarian. What we got was fresh crisp just exactly where we were looking for.

Larry P.

Yelp
Super friendly owner, we got there minutes before happy hour. She recommended we wait for the few minutes to get any discounts. The street tacos sounded great, but my wife and I opted for the Maui bowl and quesobirra tacos. Absolutely delicious and we highly recommend. They had Shinerbock beer, which is my favorite. This beer is from Texas, and I asked how was a Texas beer introduced to Napa? Long story, but in the end the owners husband was from Houston, so here we are. A great, casual "cafe style" taco place with excellent authentically prepared meals. Highly recommend.

Rick B.

Yelp
Wow. That was delicious. Stopped in for a quick bite. Blew our expectations away. The BIDDY taco was the single best thing I have eaten in months. Savory, good texture, little pops of pomegranate.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Nothing fancy unless perfection is fancy. Ray Ray's is flat out delicious. And the people are so kind and really helpful with insights and recommendations. If you're looking for breakfast tacos, look no further. No disrespect to Texas breakfast tacos, but this blows them away. The dining room is simple and clean and there are a couple of small tables on the sidewalk as well. In addition to the tacos, they have a few simple sides, soft drinks, beer and wine. Ray Ray's is the deal.
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
Now that Ray Ray's has a brick and mortar location in downtown St Helena, and is open 5 days a week for breakfast and lunch (even early dinner pickup on Thurs-Sat) we finally had an opportunity to head in and chow down. We headed in for early breakfast and were joined by friends, totaling a party of 6. The special that day was Churro Pancakes... So, we had to order normal breakfast tacos and split the special :) The place is simple, clean and neat with seating on indoor picnic tables (a couple of small tables are streetside). Coffee is fresh and strong, plenty of drink, options displayed on the counter, including the fabulous Pott Wines. Our tacos were fresh and delicious and the pancakes should be illegal! Service was fast and friendly. Great little breakfast or lunch spot!
google avatar

Gary T.

Yelp
This is a really great eatery! The menu is sophisticated but simple and the flavor profiles are literally out of this world! They have a variety of Taco options, considered breakfast packers, tacos butter and then some larger plates and bowls after 4:00. Spice in the last of you and had a variety of options. Chips and guacamole are amazing and so far I've had the Angelina, the Biddy, and Rosalie From delicious shrimp to the amazingly cooked pork and beef... You honestly cannot go wrong!
google avatar

Gary J.

Yelp
The tacos are really creative, delicious too The signature dish is the Carnitas Nachos Smothered in crispy Carnitas flavored perfectly, on top of melted white cheese and chips topped with ample guacamole, pickled onion... DELICIOUS
google avatar

JR C.

Yelp
A bit tucked away on Main is a surprisingly good taco shop. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the store is clean and up beat. Definitely worth stopping by.
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
High quality ingredients, great tasting tacos! They're a bit bigger than street tacos so two may be filling. Highly recommend the breakfast tacos (serves all day!) with either the medium or hot sauce. The hot sauce has actual flavor, not just heat to be hot.
google avatar

Tanya T.

Yelp
Delicious food and most of it happens to be gluten free! Great service and quality. The owner was there and explained all the options.

Edward S.

Yelp
Food is incredible and made with the best ingredients. Service and flavors are unique and thought out. Awesome!
google avatar

Dave P.

Yelp
Simply the best tacos we have ever had. In addition, the guacamole, beans and chips were fantastic. You can tell all of the ingredients are of the highest quality and the owner is a trained high-level chef. Eat here - you will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
Amazing tastes, so fresh and unique. I'm glad I let my senses take me here. I had the Angelina taco which is a keeps some of the traditional shredded pork citrus flavors you'd expect in an oversized street taco but Ray Ray's Tacos elevates it with heightened flavor profile. Next I tried their homemade coffee cake and yum , plus freshly brewed coffee. Win!
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
Love Ray Rays! And now open most days for dinner. Can't wait. Everything is delicious and freshly made. Best breakfast tacos we have ever had. And don't ignore the queso.
google avatar

Camille F.

Yelp
Loved Ray Ray's! The chilaquiles were fantastic! The salsa's were delicious! The owner took care of us and she was fantastic!
google avatar

Robert V.

Yelp
I'm so excited to support a place that truly wants you to enjoy your experience. The wife and I stopped by to get tacos to-go. The breakfast tacos (served all day) are especially delicious. We grabbed 5 tacos to share with grandma in the morning. Wish and hope you can expand to Solano County (maybe Vacaville would be great). Love your tacos and we tell all our friends that they need to stop by your yummy place. Thank you so much. Sometimes, simple is all the blessings we need.
google avatar

Lana W.

Yelp
The food here is excellent. Had the Rosalie Mahi mahi coffee , cake, and chips w/ salsa. The taco was amazing!! Fresh , flavorful and delicious! The chips and salsa is a must try!! The owner Ray Ray was there, and very friendly...a must visit if you're in St Helena!
google avatar

Laura K.

Yelp
Nice minimalistic ambiance, food looked good. Guacamole and chips were excellent. We both had the shrimp tacos. Tried to call to let them know we both ended up with stomach pains and gas, and needed to go to the bathroom within an hour of eating but no phone number to be found! Would have preferred to talk to someone than leave this review!
google avatar

Keith Y.

Yelp
Super tasty and friendly staff, the pink sign stood out, glad we stopped. The break, egg, and poblano breakfast burrito was so good.

Jessica L.

Yelp
So tasty!! And quick, check out breakfast & dinner!!! Love the salsa options too!! Owner was there and chatty. Actually affordable in st. Helena
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
I've been a fan of Ray Ray's from the farmers market days and am so glad I can get my fix more frequently! I always have the vegan fried black beans, Jealous & Crazy salsa verde and their flour tortillas in my house. The Penny's Queso is absolute crack (!!!) while the Ms. Kitty is my fav brekkie taco and the Angelina is my non-brekkie pick. The nachos are delicious too! The space in an historic building is welcoming and cozy and now that the weather is warming up they've got some outdoor spots to enjoy too. A great, more affordable addition to St. Helena for locals and tourists alike.
google avatar

Crystal C.

Yelp
Found this cool eatery while walking around town for the afternoon. The person at the counter was friendly and helpful explaining portion sizes and choices. Food was delicious. Very pleased to have found this place!

Atticus F.

Yelp
The food was so-so..... Not a lot of bang for your buck... I had to go to Sunshine and eat because the 2 tacos I ordered didn't fill me up.... Service again was so-so..... It was trying to be very simple, but being simple it was less memorable..... Ambiance.... Benches... Didn't care to sit with other strangers while eating...
google avatar

Bob C.

Yelp
Lets be clear these are not "just" Tacos. This is Tex Mex. If you haven't tried this place out you are missing out.
google avatar

Cory C.

Yelp
Service was great and tortillas remind me of tastes from San Antonio! Coming back again

Christopher S.

Yelp
Food was tasty and unique! Rachel was super welcoming and the service was top notch! The nachos and Biddy taco were Superb! Will be back!

Marcia v.

Yelp
Wonderful tacos, will be back! Easy to fine and park behind is the easiest. There were 0 of us and we had a blast.

Amanda S.

Yelp
Delicious fish taco...fresh and tasty. Very friendly and efficient service. Totally recommend

Yelp
Awesome. We are from Texas, we know breakfast tacos. Ray Rays are authentic, and delicious. They prepare everything fresh and they a loaded with egg etc. My favorite is the "Debbie". Their various sauces are great toppings. Today is free coffee day. Wow

A C.

Yelp
Saw the great reviews then decided to give it a try. We arrived around 11am. Ray's was empty but we went to the counter and ordered (1) Eva's Summer Salad with fajita Chicken, avocado, nuts, watermelon radishes with a delicious light & tasty dressing, (2) yummy two tacos (breakfast & mahi), and (3) a refreshing Blood Orange Cali Squeeze beer that was shared. Lovely space in a row of shops. Outdoor seating, window seats and inside tables. Our order was promptly delivered. Friendly staff!

Jefe S.

Yelp
Ray Ray's really knows how to serve up some great food! The breakfast tacos are amazing--so flavorful! And the chilaquiles? Easily the best I've had (sorry, Mom!). The service has that friendly, local vibe that makes you feel right at home, and the laid-back ambiance just adds to the experience. It's quickly become my favorite spot in town, and I highly recommend giving it a try if you're looking for something delicious.
google avatar

Jaime B.

Yelp
Wow!! Shrimp tacos were so great! I have celiacs and the owner assured me there were gluten free.. so good can't wait to go back! No reaction delicious.. husband had the brisket and loved them as well!!
google avatar

Andi B.

Yelp
The eggs are amazing! Nice relaxed atmosphere. I didn't have my glasses so the owner ordered for me one brisket one poblano taco. A must hit in Saint Helena.
google avatar

Jesse Ryan B.

Yelp
Great staff, clean location. Great interesting tacos, nachos and a good selection of tasty salsas. We will be back!

Brenda H.

Yelp
Ray Ray's is a must for breakfast, lunch & now open for dinner. Super fresh tacos, delicious & pretty! Yes, pretty, these tacos are gorgeous! Very casual, owner, Rachel creates amazing food, Rachel & staff are welcoming & fun!

Scott R.

Yelp
First time ordering at Ray Ray's in St. Helena. A lot of good community buzz around upscale mexican street food, even though there are plenty of excellent alternatives in the neighborhood. While the food quality was very good, the size of the tacos for the price charged really disappointed me. I understand that cost of rent, escalating labor costs and certainly higher quality ingredient costs all effect pricing but candidly, to spend $7-$8 per taco is a little on the absurd side given the finished product. Now if the flavors on the palette were a "wow, forget the price and portion, these are simply sublime", the pricing could be overlooked. But sadly, these were just very good. Large order of chips and guac for $12 was closer to being more reasonable priced but quality was just "meh". Staff at the counter were super friendly and hospitable. Branding of the concept is smart and contemporary. Nice selection of interesting, pre-portioned salsas at the pick up area.

David R.

Yelp
Great selections, friendly service. Really appreciate this new addition to the St Helena restaurant scene! Will visit many more times.
