My parents have been singing the praises of Ray's for years. I never made the trek over while living in LA, and honestly, as a pescatarian I wasn't that sad about missing out on a meaty walk-up diner on the other side of town. After my dad raved about the breakfasts on my last visit I finally relented. My mom broke character and ordered the breakfast burrito (2 scrambled eggs, shredded jack, and cheddar and mozzarella cheese, hash browns, onions, peppers, tomato, choice of bacon, sausage or ham wrapped in flour tortilla. Served with house spicy chipotle salsa) which was beastly. We were expecting from the description that there would shredded rather than large chunks of potato in it, which made it clunky to eat. I had been considering getting one as well (sans meat) but felt even happier with my breakfast quesadilla (shredded Jack, mozzarella and cheddar, spicy chipotle mayo, 2 eggs). It was also massive and very delicious. Both were accompanied by a hot and flavorful salsa and even hotter grilled pepper. My dad always gets the Tuna Melt Supreme which had to be the biggest sandwich I've ever seen. Easy and popular retro take-away joint with some counter seating. Service was friendly and quick. Accepts cards but bring cash to tip. They deserve it!
