Best Wineries Near D.C., According to Eater Editors | Eater DC

"Stepping foot onto this revered Virginia winery located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains comes with a price tag. Bordeaux-styled RdV, which just rebranded as Lost Mountain Vineyards this spring, offers Estate Experiences ($120-$140 per person) that include an intimate, guided tour through the luxe cellars, culminating in a wine tasting paired with charcuterie and cheese. The winery produces two award-winning reds that top D.C. restaurants fight over year after year: a cabernet sauvignon and blend of cabernet, cabernet franc, and merlot." - Tierney Plumb

"RdV Vineyards, now known as Lost Mountain, is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The vineyard produces a flagship blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, and was acquired by Eutopia Estates. It is known for its rocky terrain which contributes to the wine's character." - Wanda Mann

Try Virginia’s Exclusive Members-Only Wines at These Top Restaurants

"Celebrating red Bordeaux-style blends, RdV Vineyards—within the Middleburg AVA (American Viticultural Area) about an hour drive west of downtown Washington, DC—is the work of New Jersey-born, Swiss-raised former marine Rutger de Vink. The vineyard—which produced its first vintage in 2008, releasing wine three years later—makes two prime expressions sold at lofty prices: the signature, age-worthy Lost Mountain vinified predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon with a bit of Merlot costs $225; while its more approachable sibling Rendezvous runs $100, a Merlot-forward blend with Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon. A third, entry-level expression made from a mix of the four varietals is named Friends and Family and sells for $50—only to the DC market and members." - Kat Odell
