Read Shop Review - Vinings - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"If you spend way too much time on BookTok, let us introduce you to Read Shop in Vinings. Sadly, the coffee itself isn’t worthy of its own novel. But the number of bookstores with in-house cafes has dwindled dangerously close to zero so this feels like a rare find even if they only sell coffee table gems and NYT bestsellers. The glass shelves hanging from the ceiling in the center of the room filled with books are straight out of our Dream House Pinterest board (we don’t really have that but after seeing the shelves IRL we’re thinking we should). We’ll gladly sit beneath it to peruse a new book with a caffeinated bev and relive the (almost) bygone bookshop era. photo credit: Mhandy Gerard" - Juli Horsford

Good coffee and nice staff. I will say this is more like a stop in and grab your coffee and go. It’s not really a cozy vibe coffee shop. They did add some additional seating upstairs and a few people were reading when I went. The book selection is severely lacking imo. It’s basically all coffee table books. Good if you want to stop in and grab a gift pretty much. Not really the cozy bookstore/coffee shop I was hoping for.

A little gem on Henderson. Gorgeous, unique coffee table books, awesome popcorn (try Poppy Handcrafted dark chocolate raspberry) and fabulous coffee. So happy can get the same brand in Dallas that I enjoy when in Seaside! They also have pastries to enjoy with your coffee.

Great new independent coffee shop/book store in the Knox Henderson neighborhood. Excellent quality latte, friendly staff, beautiful decor. I echo what others have said about the distinct lack of seating, which tbh, makes no sense. Upstairs, there are stand up ledges which are a waste of space. The shop has plenty of square footage to add some comfy chairs and a cafe table or two. I like loitering over a great book and coffee, but here it seems like I’m supposed to buy and leave quickly. Hopefully they listen to the feedback and adjust accordingly.

Went for the books, stayed for the coffee! Nice selection and variety of drinks, had many stickers and cute things for your pups(: Only took off one star since the seating was limited and the book selection is limited with some books being overpriced. Would definitely go again to keep trying the rest of the menu, but enjoyed the atmosphere that was calm and cozy.

Beautiful new coffee shop in the Knox/Henderson area of Dallas! They have great options for coffee and matcha! The service was great too. It is more of a book store than a library, so don’t expect to find a cozy place to read. There is very limited seating, at the moment, but it looks like they will add some patio furniture soon. The second floor features mostly coffee table books (photography, recipes, etc). There’s also a children’s section, but I don’t recommend indoctrinating your child with this selection of books (see photos) Overall, I would say it’s a fun landmark for a quick outing, but not a coffee shop I would stay for an extended period of time or visit often.

Google
Read Shop in Dallas, TX, offers a cozy blend of bookstore and coffee shop vibes. Their unique book selection is perfect for book lovers looking for something special, and the coffee is top-notch. It’s a great spot to relax, browse, and enjoy a cup while diving into a good read. Definitely worth a visit!

We are excited to welcome Read Shop to our neighborhood and the community at large! What a gem of a place—everything looks and feels just right in this place that is certain to become a popular hangout. Friendly and engaging service from the coffee bar staff, and a wide variety of beautiful books to peruse (and buy!) while sipping the coffee. There is something for everyone in the assortment of this very thoughtfully merchandised shop. We especially love the charming plush toys from Jellycat. So glad that we can just walk across the street from our house to this cool new place!

Google
Cute modern style book shop. Knick-knacks & home goods on display tables. Majority of books seem to be nice table top display books; architecture, local artists, cooking/baking, photography, fashion, travel, history/educational, etc. which i personally love to look at and partake in— Wouldn’t come here expecting a library; I read an early review mentioning the book selection was lacking (lol). The place is larger than i expected with multiple lit up rooms, and an upstairs- which i didn’t get to, yet. I ordered the summer blackberry lemonade while stopping in during my walk around the neighborhood, it was yummy- a lil over priced for the size, but i feel that is expected with the boutique-style food & beverage shops in Dallas. Won’t stop me from going back again, especially since I work on the street and have been waiting for a bevy place to walk to that ISN’T a bar, sit down restaurant, or 7/11 . I do wish there was other juice and maybe even smoothie options, considering this is Texas (hot as __🥵), and there was only one juice (non-caffeinated?) option.

Yelp
Cutest bookshop ever. A nice addition to lower Greenville for sure! I got an iced chai with oatmilk and it was so refreshing since it was pretty hot out. We came in the afternoon so all the pastries were sold out. Great selection of books! Only issue is not much seating. We parked ourselves in the window sill as my daughter needed to work on her homework. Look forward to how this bookshop will develop!

Yelp
This place is super cute! Lots of fun knick knacks to look at. I got a chocolate muffin towards the end of the day and it was delicious and 50% off! Not sure if that is a normal end of the day discount they do but it was a happy surprise for me!

Yelp
First timer: Probably the cutest coffee shop I've been to in DFW area. It has quite a bit of merchandise (candles, books, stickers, etc.) however it wasn't overwhelming seeing as it was extremely neat, organized, and allowed plenty of room to still move around. Staff is all friendly (there were only two present when I entered). Upstairs displayed art and more decor. The iced latte I ordered was good and strong. There are dairy alternatives however they weren't displayed on the menu, and they were sold out of a few things when I popped in. All in all. Great vibe.

Yelp
The cutest little book shop with great tasting coffee. The barista was super nice and helpful. I had the Iced Cinnamon roll oat latte for $6.50.

Yelp
Looking at the reviews, I think I went to a different place. All these 4 and 5 star reviews, and I honestly don't see it. Only one review mirrored what I felt when going in. First things first, it is a very cute place. Aesthetically pleasing, well organized/clean, and friendly staff. But that's about all it has going for it. The drinks we got were mediocre at best. There's a huge display for what I'm assuming should be holding some kind of food/pastries but it sat empty on a Saturday afternoon. For a store called the READ shop, there's actually no place to sit and READ. The two windows on the first floor have a ledge that you can sit on, and upstairs there a couch for 2, and another little sitting area, again for 2. They have a handful of high-top bars that you can put your drink on and flip through a book but that about it. They have a decent kids book area upstairs but no place for said kids to actually sit/interact. Majority of the other books are coffee table books, or some sort of picture book. The way that it's advertised on social media makes it seem like something it's not. This is no book lover's friend, this is not hangout friendly, it's fairly useless unless you want to pop in for a drink and look at picture books while standing. If you want some place to catch up with a friend, so even to simply sit and read while drinking your coffee, you're better off at a Starbucks or local coffee house. All the social medial posts and high rated reviews are deceiving, in my opinion.

Yelp
My coffee was really good, and this shop has some really cute items for sale! There's some seating downstairs, upstairs is all standing table benches

Yelp
Although the curated book selection may be worth a visit, I do not recommend the coffee shop. My dirty chai was watery and bitter with little chai flavor, and my pastry was both tasteless and stale.

Yelp
What an awesome book and coffee shop! Amazing curation of fascinating books and creative gifts. Coffee was outstanding - the best pumpkin spice latte in Dallas.

Ben E.

Yelp
Perfect addition to the neighborhood. Great concept with amazing coffee table books and gifts. Excellent coffee is just a bonus.

Thomas S.

Yelp
Great shop!! So many unique books, I loved the matcha here. Such a fun concept. Only critique I wish there were more chairs rather than bar tops.

Bryan P.

Yelp
Update: they added a bar stool, nice. Looking forward to the rest of them to come. Books have seemed to change a bit. But still happy to come back as they add and change things up.

Yelp
Such a cute shop and the coffee is so good! Cant wait for them to get actual seating so I can work from there

Jade Q.

Yelp
The cutest gift store! They have the best selection of coffee table books, cookbooks, cards, candles, etc. Will be getting a ton of Xmas presents here. The coffee is also delicious. This is just a great cute little store that's been added to the neighborhood.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
The coffee is really good! It's a two story book shop but lacks heavily on the books. It's purely coffee table books that you wouldn't even spend a quick glance on. No genre options. I would recommend only for the coffee and photo ops. Book lovers would NOT like the selection.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. I love coffee and books so it seemed like the perfect fit. The first problem is when I went, they didn't have a working bathroom. I asked where the nearest bathroom was and she told me a 2 minute drive down to 7-11. After finding time to park in that area, to have to leave and go to the bathroom at 7-11 and then come back to find parking again, no thanks. I wasn't even aware you could be open for business without a working bathroom, apparently so. The other thing to note is this is a coffee table aka picture bookstore. There isn't any fiction and almost everything is heavy on pictures/ art so the books itself don't add to the "read" portion of the store. What also doesn't help is that there are exactly two places to sit in the entire place. A couch and a love seat. And if someone/ a couple is sitting in them, well you have to stand. They have counters to place coffee/ books, but without a comfy place to read, this isn't a "reading" place. It's an aesthetically pleasing store where you can purchase coffee and a coffee table book, but then you must leave because you likely don't have a place to sit and you will eventually want to go to the bathroom from said coffee and will have to drive down to 7-11. My two cents: invest in more seating. Seating for the counters upstairs, small, comfy reading chairs a few places, maybe a bean bag chair for the kids? And please, for the love of all things, get a working bathroom. I just hope we went too early and everyone else has a different experience than we did.

Yelp
New favorite neighborhood coffee shop! Crave it everyday now and love all the beautiful books. The hazelnut syrup is the best!

Grady S.

Yelp
Cool place . Really hope it makes it. Very cool books for sale. Great coffee bar. Would like to see more stock and more places to sit

Yelp
Absolutely adorable building with a pleasant and accomodating staff. These baristas know their trade; their espresso was very well dialed in!
