West Seattle’s Realfine Coffee Now Has a Capitol Hill Location - Eater Seattle

"West Seattle caffeinator Realfine Coffee doubled in size on Friday morning, opening up a second location in Capitol Hill, according to Capitol Hill Seattle. It moves in on Pine Street at Boylston — a space that has previously been relatively dedicated to coffee, with Portland’s Stumptown Coffee giving up on the location almost a year ago. Fittingly for the company, which has been a donor to pro-LGBTQ organizations in the past, it’s also right in time for Pride this weekend. As with the original West Seattle Realfine, the Capitol Hill edition will serve brews from Seattle roaster Herkimer Coffee, croissants, and other pastries, in a concrete-floored space lined with stool seating on one side, and a banquette on the other. This is the first ever expansion for Realfine: owner Julie Mierzwiak first opened the cafe’s doors on Fauntleroy Way SW nearly three years ago, in late 2015." - Tim Forster

Hands down, the best Cortado in town - competing level execution. The baristas know what they’re doing — every pour is spot on, every single time. The place feels like a big coffee-loving family. Regulars are always hanging out, including the baristas when they’re off work, which tells you everything you need to know about the vibe. Good energy, lots of smiles, and the kind of place where you walk in and immediately feel like you belong. Honestly, if I could move in, I probably would.

Google
So great this place is open until 6pm! Came in around 5:30 for the most delicious almond milk matcha I’ve ever had. My partner got a small coffee which was perfectly brewed and hot even at this time of night. I really appreciated being able to bring my dog inside because he has never been tied up outside. Overall, highly recommend !

Google
Realfine is one of the best coffee shops in Seattle hands down. There’s a warm, inviting vibe that’s more than just nice lighting and comfy seating. It’s the baristas who remember your order and greet you by name. I usually come in a rush, irritated and cranky, and I’ll walk up to the counter and my mood will immediately shift. If you’re lucky enough to get Ash as your barista, just know you’re in for a real treat. They go out of their way every time to ask how I’m doing, or make sure I make it to work on time haha. The coffee is consistently smooth, perfectly made, and quick. I often stop in when I’m in a rush and I have never had to wait more than a few minutes. Ambient, comforting, lively but not distracting. The warm lighting and abundant seat selection makes it better than most coffee shops out there. While other shops are obsessed with being bright, aesthetic and bustling, Realfine remains humble and pure. And the music is always so good. I’m often pulling out shazam to slyly add a new song to my library. But if you ask, they’ll tell you, even recommend shows that are coming up. I’ve gone to a few shows now that I learned about just from being at this place.

Google
Consistently amazing coffee! Recently been trying their almond milk matcha latte. Previously also have tried their cortado. Friendly staff and great place to relax with a book and a cup of coffee on weekends!

Google
coffee is decent, it’s more about community and relationships made by baristas and people in the coffee shop. good place to do some laptop work/read/journal.

Google
Enjoyed the tasty cold brew and quick service at Realfine. More comfortable chairs / seating would have been nice, but the setup was decent overall.

Google
I went here for the first time today and had such a lovely experience! The baristas are very knowledgable and friendly, and the coffee was delicious. Thank you Ash and Alyssa, your service was fantastic! I will be back frequently.

Google
Real Fine is my go to coffee ☕️ spot in Seattle. Both the drip coffee and the espresso are great. Best latte I’ve ever had. (Most other places, their lattes are too “milky”.) The RF employees are really nice too. Check this place out kidz!

Yelp
Best coffee on the hill, maybe in all of Seattle ?? everyone who works here is sweet and great at their job! They're friendly even when there's a line out the door. My only complaint is that the coffee is so good I can't go anywhere else lol
google avatar

Karina C.

Yelp
I got the Hazelnut Iced latte with whole milk and the espresso still shines through a latte! Cozy cafe with plenty of wall bar stools and a couple tables. Friendly staff and not too crowded on a weekday afternoon.

Yelp
Went here for a quick coffee in the middle of my work day at around 11 I got an iced white mocha and there and there was no one else in line, lots of other people in the shops and hanging and working tho. The service was really nice and overall it's a nice shop, I'd go back. Iced white mocha - 6.5/10

Yelp
I don't want to be too harsh so I'll keep it simple. The London fog was no good and the matcha was bitter. Not a place I would go again. Also a bit smelly in there. Like slap you in the face armpit fog.

Yelp
Service was good with the barista providing some recommendations. The inside is pretty small with only a few spaces to sit and hang out. There are a few plugs and the WiFi is stable (password on top of mini fridge). The chai was good as well and I loved the little "wall" of dog Polaroids on the fridge near the drink pick up.

Yelp
Small coffee shop with a cute aesthetic. Not too much seating, so as the day went on, some people had trouble finding a place to sit. The biggest issue was that the door doesn't close all the way, which made it really cold. Plus, since the shop is so small, anyone opening the door causes the whole shop to change temperatures. On this winter day, even wearing a large puffer jacket, we had to cut our work session early to find a warmer alternative. The coffee itself was good! I got an almond flavored latte with oat milk. They had an interesting selection of syrups - not a lot of the ones I'm used to seeing, and some fruit-related ones I haven't seen anywhere else. Since Seattle has so much high quality coffee at roughly the same price point, the main distinguishing factor for me is the ambiance. The door situation unfortunately was a dealbreaker, especially on the frigid day I went. However, if you only plan to grab a coffee to-go and want to try new syrup flavors, this would be a great spot!

Yelp
This is my new favorite coffee place in Seattle. Very few coffee places have stuck in my memory recently except for this one. The atmosphere is really cute, with great window seats that have draping plants and well designed. It was a rainy day and there was something about sitting in that window area that felt really homey. I asked for a glass for my coldbrew and since they usually do cups, they gave me a glass that was a bit smaller and just told me to come get a refill whenever. Not only that but they were very nice and made some good conversations while waiting. The coffee itself was really good as well. The coldbrew had hints of chocolate and was really smooth. It was pretty strong so after my second one I was wired which was not the best idea since we got there around 5pm. That was the other thing too is that they are open pretty late for a coffee shop. Overall a phenomenal coffee shop that you should check out.

Yelp
I usually have mochas from another indie a block away, however, I noticed Realfine Coffee diagonal from where my car was parked on E Pine (3/25/23). I stopped in during the final hour of service. Nice chill atmosphere. Nice interior decor. There's counter, window/sidewalk view, table interior seating, as well as, limited outdoor sidewalk seating. Welcoming counter staff. My 12oz mocha was on point for presentation, taste, and temperature - which was greatly appreciated. I just hung out at the counter facing the feature wall. Decent music. Folks seated indoors, like me, but observed a steady stream of takeout beverage orders. I enjoyed my first visit, definitely recommended!

Yelp
I love this coffee shop! Delicious coffee, cute ambiance, people working on laptops minding their own business! Lots of seating options! Definitely check this out when you come to Seattle! Welcoming staff & fast turn around for drinks! I highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
The people working were super kind. Made the coffee super fast and it was delicious. I'd go here over Starbucks any day. The atmosphere is also nice, clean, and calm in here. Definitely would return again.

Yelp
Nice little spot for coffee. If my memory serves me right, this spot replaced the old spot stump town coffee. The new owner (or the baristas) has pretty good music taste. The Wi-Fi isn't that good tho. But yea, enjoy your coffee here. People are nice.

R. R.

Yelp
Service was horrendous. The cashier couldn't even bother to say hello or good morning and then just tossed my food that I ordered at me. So rude. Absolutely terrible garbage humans working behind the counter at this location. How horribly rude. The young blonde haired guy with the glasses needs some course work and training on how to treat people. Never going back!
google avatar

Lizette R.

Yelp
Great neighborhood coffee shop! We stayed in the area and loved having Realfine so close to us!

Yelp
This coffee shop was surprising good! I happened to park right in front of this store. After shopping around, I came back and got a hot machiato to go and it was sooooooo good! You can tell from the first sip that it's quality coffee! I will definitely come back to this cute little shop for more drinks. The staff is also very nice and efficient. Some people do come in and study/work on their computers here. Check this place out if you're nearby! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
When you have some of the best coffee choices in a 5 block radius, smaller local names can be forgotten. When I first moved to Seattle I was naturally drawn to big names or the ritzy Sbux reserve, but after daily sampling I have found Realfine coffee to be one of the most underrated coffee shops in the area and our personal fav. They just nail my fav drink, which is an oat milk latte. Been looking forward to their coffee every day now. Hope you feel the same way!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this coffee shop, especially that it's super close to my place! It's been one of my go-to places for coffee lately. I usually order a regular latte and add a bit of simple syrup for a touch of sweetness and it's perfect. I really like how the lattes here still have a nice strong coffee taste, and not too milky like some places make it. I have also tried their chocolate croissant and banana bread - both delicious! They also have a nice decor with a really cute mini plant wall. It's not a huge space but there's usually some seating when I come. This place is also dog friendly! Will definitely keep coming back!
google avatar

Clare P.

Yelp
Super good drip coffee! Found this place because I was just in the area and craving a hot cup of coffee and this place turned out to be perfect. The staff was super kind and polite and my coffee was delicious. Would definitely frequent this place if I wasn't just in seattle on vacation!
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
One of my very favorite coffee shops. The coffee is excellent and the people are always so warm and friendly! The owner Julie is often there and creates such a welcoming feeling to the shop. Love.

Yelp
My partner is getting a haircut next door so I dropped in for a iced americano. The storefront is very clean and the covid-19 safety rules are in place to keep both customers and staff safe. My 2 stars are for safety and staff performance- very professional and friendly workers and the store is adorable. The coffee was awful tho :( shots in the iced americano were burnt pretty badly- not sure if it's the beans themselves, equipment needed cleaned, water was not filtered or user error while preparing it... whatever the cause it was very gross. I drink iced americano as my go to beverage and this is way off base. (I even make my own at home- and it's pretty bad when my home brew Franken-coffee turns out better than a cafes). I might try this place again if I'm doing a latte or something with cream and sugar. ‍
google avatar

Shirin B.

Yelp
This cute coffee shop has very smooth coffee! I ordered the Hazelnut latte with hemp milk and it was made perfectly! Definitely check this coffee shop out if you're near cal Anderson park!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute place The coffee is great And really cute little area though Sadly it is under quarantine

Bill H.

Yelp
Don't go to the Starbucks Roastery around the corner. Realfine's coffee is just as good. This is now my go to coffee place in Capitol Hill. The staff is also very friendly.
google avatar

Susanna M.

Yelp
Currently there is no indoor seating, I'm adding due to pandemic protocol. Overall, the coffee and tea is good but I wouldn't say the baked goods are my favorite. I tried 4 different ones over the course of two days. In my opinion most people would enjoy the banana bread and the almond croissant. I personally found the latter too sweet while the banana bread was pretty good but I felt like it was a tad drier than I would like. The savory items I tried weren't bad but nothing to write home about. The service is really good though (albiet slow as there's usually only one barista who is also the cashier) and I'd recommend this place if you'd like to grab a nice latte or London Fog.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this coffee shop. The service here was amazing. They have a good drink selection, a really yummy assortment of pastries, and for a smaller location, a plentiful amount of seating with charging outlets. It wasn't super busy when I went so there was no trouble finding a spot to sit. It's a good spot to get some work done or just hang out or visit with friends.
google avatar

Diego S.

Yelp
This is a nice little coffee shop with excellent service. The times I've been here I have gotten the hazelnut and vanilla lattes. Unlike other places, the coffee taste is a lot stronger and less milky, which in my opinion is great since sometimes too much milk makes me feel bloated. The place is nice and hip to get some work done with not too much ambient noise. However, if you're trying to meet up with a large group this probably isn't the place for that.
google avatar

Daniel Z.

Yelp
They are a small coffee shop in cap Hill. I went here with a friend and we just enjoyed a nice chat. The baristas were very nice and I'd definitely come back!

Parnian V.

Yelp
Just as good as I remembered them, and the lovely baristas are always sweet. Got my favorite drip on Dr. Christine's tab this morning and it made my Friday, life is too short to not enjoy the simple things.
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
The coffee tastes great with fast service. Its a hidden, close-by spot right near I live so I started going here for a quick coffee and would definitely recommend! The inside has a beautiful wood furnishing with a lot of plants and other decorations. I like that it is smaller and homey inside but there are enough places to sit and read! This place just makes sense

Yelp
Quality, craft and service. Sounds like a car commercial but it's coffee. I came in to meet my partner and didn't realize it's right in the hub of pike and pine. This cute little coffee shop is decorated with wood and brassy gold containers to pathos and succulents. It's surprisingly comfortable and the vibe is very chill. I was already pretty caffinated when I got there so I ordered a chai. I'm pretty particular about the flavor of chai, I like it on the spicier side vs. The sweet side. The person that made my drink was very knowledgeable about their chai and that they are on the hunt for the perfect chai with beautiful ingredients. I very much enjoyed the latte. The best part of it was the perfect foam that was atop my soy chai latte. I definitely will come back to try their espresso. They also have a cold case and pastries as well. I didn't get the chance to see if they had anything that was vegan. As I was enjoying my beverage, I couldn't help but listen to the person talk about the quality of the pulled espresso shots, the timing, the flavor and the grind. Being a coffee snob, I knew quality and craft was upmost important to her. As we left she said bye and welcomed us back. So like I said earlier, quality, craft and service, it's why I will be back!
google avatar

Wynonna S.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops in Seattle! The baristas are really kind and their espresso shots are multidimensional in flavor. I'd visit everyday if I could.

Jim J.

Yelp
I was in Seattle for a 4-day stay last month and went to several coffee shops in the downtown area during my time there, and Realfine Coffee stood out among the others. I ordered a mocha and the coffee flavor comes through very nicely - it is not completely covered up by the other ingredients. I've found this characteristic is fairly rare, and a sign of an excellent barista.
google avatar

Tehya W.

Yelp
Great coffee, even better service. The redhead barista is my favorite, the sweetest! I think his name is Derrick and he always brightens my morning with his smile and delicious lattes.
google avatar

Manuel G.

Yelp
This drip coffee is amazing. I didn't even want to add half and half to it. Cute spot with a great staff.
google avatar

Banango F.

Yelp
First thing I love their staff with the friendly vibes their coffee is amazing!! Also their carry a very yummy pastry:) I always get the cappuccino but also they have a really good chai
google avatar

Drew B.

Yelp
So stoked you're here. I love this shop in West Seattle and now love the one on The Hill. The reason I love it so much is of course because of the coffee but almost equally important the feeling, you know the 'vibe'. Seriously if you sit in either of these places for any amount of time you'll see folks coming in and out with huge smiles. People love it here, the customers and the staff. That's right coffee staff that are kind, nice, happy.... It's rad to be here. I love it. I love it BIG. Thanks Julie for putting your heart and soul into this. It shows and I for one love it.
google avatar

Kelly P.

Yelp
Such a great little find! Much more quaint than what I'm used to in Capitol Hill. Two different customers walked in and the barista had their regular orders ready. She was just as friendly towards me, and asked me how my day was going. I ordered a hazelnut latte and it was fantastic - a perfect combo of hazelnut sweetness while still keeping the smooth coffee taste. The full flavor list includes hazelnut, caramel, vanilla and sugar free vanilla. Their playlist was also on point. Kind of a rainy Saturday afternoon type vibe. Fitting for Seattle :-)
google avatar

Adiba N.

Yelp
I wanted to order a macchiato which the server didn't understand. Then wanted to order an expresso in the dark. They could make it! However, it was not tasty or fresh. The coffee had a strong citrusy smell! They have a nice organized sitting area so good coffee would be great to have there!
google avatar

Julius B.

Yelp
Cute, small, local coffee shop in Cap Hill with very friendly workers. Asked for a decaf and they were more than happy to accommodate considering they don't have decaf drip. Good looking treats to eat and the vegan burritos would highly recommend. It lives up to the name

Madison L.

Yelp
Just one thing... there's no menu. I thought I would just come in and look at the menu and decide what I wanted, butttt there was no menu! So I panicked and went with a drip coffee. WHY IS THERE NO MENU?! I'm sure you could order what you want and if they don't have it they will tell you, or ask if they have a menu, the lady was super nice, but I didn't do that. I guess just heads up about that. Sooooo the drip coffee is good! Smooth, and goes down nice and easy. I like the vibe of the inside. Quiet. Casual, low music, good place to study and get work done. There's only a few tables and the rest is bar seating.
google avatar

Sunny H.

Yelp
Yass-- I go here all the time - good coffee, nice wall decors, Wifi + Bathroom available... The only downside is it's kind of small. You can't bring like 10 people and expect to sit together... But there are plenty of seats to meet up with someone or get some work done. :)
google avatar

Candace A.

Yelp
This has been my go to coffee place on the way to work. I usually just order the latte. Coffee taste great and the barista working the cafe are sweet. They always greet with a smile and ask how my mornings going.
google avatar

Alena S.

Yelp
Best coffee on Capitol Hill (we tried everything) - strong, great flavor and yummy pastries too. The biggest difference is that their staff is super friendly and welcoming. They are dog-friendly and we are quickly becoming regulars there!
google avatar

William A.

Yelp
Amazing drip coffee. I've been sampling all the coffee places in Capitol Hill and this one is definitely toward the top. Very cute atmosphere. You could grab a cup to go or sit and work for a while. Plus the barista seemed to know most of the people who came in, which made it feel real local and friendly
google avatar

Brent K.

Yelp
Great coffee. Cool atmosphere. Super clean and modern and very friendly. A favorite spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for an afternoon americano while is Seattle for the afternoon. Very tasty coffee that was super smooth. Fast and straight forward.

Yelp
My favorite go to coffee place, the coffee is REAL FINE!! Great service with friendly staff, awesome vibes
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee and friendly staff. A great addition to the Capitol Hill coffee scene. House drip had a great smooth flavor and they have a couple of options for every palate.
google avatar

Cheryl P.

Yelp
Tried this place last week. Not impressed! Stark interior. Not cozy. Limited in flavor choices. Coffee was not very hot or tasty. I won't be going back. The only thing good was the piece of squash loaf that I had.
google avatar

Jodie G.

Yelp
GREAT service. Great tunes. Great coffee. (I'm a fan of the dirty chai) Also, I just love this place.
