Where to Drink the Best Wine in Houston | Eater Houston

"With bottle specials offered weekly and frequent tasting events, Reata is a homey place to sip and discover new wine without the pomp and circumstance. The Heights bottle shop features a tasting room, a gallery of crafts and home decor, and plenty of room for live music, wine dinners, and themed food dinners, including burger nights." - Brittany Britto Garley

This place was so cute and cozy! The owners were extremely friendly and inviting. They had a tasting with 4 different wines for $18--well worth the price. I even found a new favorite. The venue is a bit small/seating is limited, but if you go with a small group it's a really good time. I'll definitely be back for another wine tasting!

Everything about this cute gem was perfect! The hospitality, the wine selection, the charcuterie board(s) were perfect! The owners take the time to make u feel at home & help decide what wine & board is best for you! The board was not “basic”, you need to go and sample for yourself, you will not be disappointed!

The perfect place to stop by for a glass of wine (or three). Sandy and Mary are incredibly knowledgeable about different wines, regions, and producers. And if you’re hungry, Mary makes a beautiful and delicious charcuterie board!

Wow wow WOW! We come from Miami and we ended up in this place because of traffic. What an amazing experience. Mary and Sandy are fantastic people the wine chooses were all great, and the charcuterie board was delicious every pairing and everything on the board was to die for. The place was a cute hole in the wall and the environment was so friendly. We will be back and are for sure coming here. Thank for the amazing service and the lovely convo.

Great spot for a smartly curated wine program and a wonderful selection of artisan cheese and charcuterie boards. And live music on the weekends.!! These ladies do it up right!

Lots of great wine and drink options available with amazing service from the owners. They have a tasting menu available if you wanted to try some different options before buying a glass or bottle. They offer some delicious charcuterie boards available for purchase. There's sitting available inside and a few spots outside whenever the weather is nicer. They have random tasting events and other events so make sure to check their calendar. The owners are just the absolute best as well.

This place is special! Very cozy. The service is incredible. I tried a wine I never would have otherwise and it’s my new favorite! The environment also promoted a very good time with really nice conversation. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Lovely hole in the wall wine bar that has an eclectic selection of wine with full bottles to purchase on site with no corkage fee or up charges for drinking on site. Charcuterie plates are available and delicious (see pic). We're regulars (sprung for the membership) and always enjoy our visits. We've had some fabulous wine but all of the vintages pale in comparison to the hospitality of co-owners Mary and Sandy!! Uber knowledgeable about wine and they buy from small upcoming vineyards from across the globe. A must visit if you're a vino fan!!!

Yelp
We happened upon this spot after dinner next door at Baso - we weren't ready to end the night so we popped in to check it out. Such a friendly environment with welcoming owners and patrons. We enjoyed hearing about the wines on offer and how they run their business; tastings, by the glass, by the bottle, etc. Seems they also host some small events here, so it is very much a neighborhood staple of a place. Certainly stop by, check them out, and support local small business next time you are looking for a place that knows their wine!

Yelp
Reata Cellars is my new go to wine bar! Sandy and Mary make everyone feel at home when they walk in the door! My boyfriend and I had planned on coming for just one glass of wine but had so much fun learning about how to taste, the characteristics in the wine, and how wine was made that we stayed for a whole bottle. The atmosphere is amazing- everyone that goes is very nice and social so it makes for a fun, experience that many bars don't have! Also the wine is amazing, Sandy and Mary can help you pick out any bottle based off of tasting notes.

Yelp
Walking into this gem feels like walking into what the "cheers bar" must have felt like. I realize I am dating myself saying this but it was just lovely that everyone in the store seemed to know each other and many knew the owners of the store. Just a friendly atmosphere that made you feel relaxed and at home. Who wouldn't want to visit a place like that? With regard to the wine, it was a hot night out and I didn't particularly know what I wanted to drink. Sandy (one of the owners) worked with me to figure out what I would enjoy. A great spot to drop by for a drink and learn about what kind of wine you might want to try next.

Yelp
Best little spot to learn about wines and enjoy a flight, glass or bottle. No one is a stranger here. Best host/owners in all the Heights!!!

Yelp
Great wine and even better atmosphere! The owners were extremely friendly and very helpful. I was heading out to get pizza for my mom's birthday, and Sandy helped me find two great wines to pair it with. They have a great selection to choose from with a wide variety of prices. There is something for everyone here! I decided to stay for a glass of wine, and I was not disappointed. I loved hearing the stories about different wineries that they purchase the wine from. I look forward to returning and trying more new wines!

Yelp
We came across Reata when we were in Houston for date day. They had a tasting so we went for that. The tasting was great and they even provided snacks, all at no charge. We did buy 3 bottles to take home. That day they were tasting wine from Two Shepherds in Sonoma. If they have any to offer I highly suggest trying any wine from Two Shepherds. Clean wine.

Yelp
Had a chance to swing by and check out this new wine shop in the city. It's a great addition to the wine community. Great selection from all over the world. Woman-owned and they are both knowledgable about their selection. You can grab and go, or stay a while to sip and snack on a board. I like that it's quaint and intimate. I'll def be back for an after dinner drink or one of the special events.

Yelp
This is a great spot to grab a nice bottle of wine that is not found at a store like Kroger, or just hang out and enjoy some great wine and meet great people. Mary and Sandy are super knowledgeable about the wines in stock, and have not made a bad suggestion yet. They have great events at their store to learn more about wines, regions, varieties, and sample some great food pairings. Certainly my go to spot for a glass of wine, or looking for something different.

Yelp
Great place to enjoy a variety of wines and catch up with friends! Enjoyed learning about several wines from the owners.
