Josh was amazing for us! Ask for his green special it’s his own spin off of a tequila based cocktail you won’t regret it! But he served us all weekend! Wish we could stay longer and chat with him some more over drinks but we’ll definitely be back!

Such a nice find! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is amazing, drinks are great and the staff is incredibly nice. There are several games patrons can freely play, and some of them were quite unique. Loved the experience and would definitely recommend! ❤️

Came here on Saturday to eat! Food was great - nice portions and flavor. Brunch is offered on Sundays and soon to be offered on Saturday. Love this spot because of all the games - foosball, connect 4, basketball & much more you can enjoy at this spot. Definitely recommend for the football season for a tailgate!

Honestly, I don’t know why there isn’t a line out the door for this place. We walked in with a very large group and had absolutely no issues with seating or service. Majed was super attentive and made great recommendations on what to order. The whole team here is super efficient and nice. Our group can get LOUD especially when party games are involved and everyone was still ok with us. Bonus was a DJ spinning great music the entire time and this was all before 5pm on Saturday.

During my stay at the Moxy, I came across this lounge. I am so glad I did! Super cute, lots of different board and card games, a basketball court. The food was good, decent price. Drinks were very good! They had DJs on both nights I stayed, it was a nice vibe. The staff were all nice, bartenders lively and fun. The general manager Anthony was welcoming and checking in on everyone to make sure they were enjoying their time, while also keeping things running smoothly. Overall a great spot I would definitely go to again! Everyone was in extremely good spirits ✨ 10/10

Great Review for Wait Staff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an amazing dining experience, thanks to our wonderful server IIinka and our hostess Ari and Elena From the moment we sat down, they were incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional, and lovely as well , They made excellent recommendations, ensured our drinks were always full, and checked in just the right amount without being intrusive. Their warm personality and attention to detail truly elevated our meal. Despite the restaurant being busy, they handled everything with a smile and made us feel valued. It’s rare to find such outstanding service, and I’ll definitely be returning because of it.

Great place, great vibes and I can’t speak highly enough about Josh. Josh went out of his way to make sure we had a good time, I described my perfect cocktail and he made and hand delivered it to me. 10/10, will come again and recommend everyone to come here.

ask for Louis If you need anything from a perfect drink like a margarita that's top notch low price great service with a smile ask for Louis. The only reason I say that or should refer to him because he found my phone and I got an awesome margarita. Do not get me wrong. The whole staff is good. I'm actually on my way over there today. Today is September 22, 2024 If you lose your phone or your wallet, anything I really mean it the whole staff will look for it. They are not thieves. They treat people like family. The food is awesome. If you want to get a pizza get the pizza Bianca, I will add a photo or write another review because they are worth it.

I came to recreation because of an event that was geld in the flex space within recreation! I am so happy the event took place here! Recreation has a really cool vibe - I love the tall ceilings and the floor to ceiling book shelf! The space is very upscale and fun! The music creates a really fun vibe! There are so many great cocktails on the menu. The pisco colada was absolutely delicious. Service was fast and good

This is on the 3rd floor of the Moxy hotel. Came here for a date night and got an app (chicken nachos that were okay) and a few cocktails (espresso martini, old fashioned, cabin in the woods & daddy issues). The cocktails are pretty strong, esp the old fashioned. They also have a bunch of board/card games, shuffleboard, skeeball, basketball court, etc. The service was also great and attentive. Would recommend if you're nearby.

Staying at Moxie! The sliders were amazing, and the drinks were great. The menu isn't extensive, but the food was fantastic! Service was great ! Ambiance was a great fun games !

This place was great! This place had a very fun and upbeat vibe to it, but it was chill at the same time. They had a DJ going 2 out of the 3 nights me and my group were there too so that was a plus. The drinks were good, very reasonably priced -- to top it off, I want to give a shout out to Tyler and Tiara. Man their hospitality and service was just so good, both of them really made our time there worth it that we had to come back 2 more nights after the first time. So if you're in the neighborhood and want a bar to check out with lots to do, this is the spot! Oh they got a small basketball half court too, that was the dopest part Shout out again to Tyler -- give that man a raise!

Recreation is the Moxy's lobby bar. It is a cool spot, and the neon signs, board games, arcade games, and quirky decor create a chill retro vibe. It is a quiet spot during the daytime, but it becomes a party at night during the weekends. I visited Recreation a few times because I was staying at the Moxy. Their menu is not big, but they have a few creative cocktails that pair with different board games or arcade games. I tried one of the cocktails and some of the flatbreads, and they were okay. The staff was nice, but the service was on the slower side. Recreation's standouts are its ambiance and vibe. It is a fun place to hang out with friends or meet new people, but better food and drinks can be found elsewhere. I would go to Recreation again if I was staying at the Moxy, but I would not go out of my way to visit them.

This was the first location I chose to go to in the new year and I was highly disappointed. I went with a group of coworkers for our monthly happy hour and immediately after coming off the elevator the staff member greeted us with a nasty attitude. This is a location my coworkers frequent as it is near our workplace. This is a bar as referenced on their website, so like most bars we walked in without a reservation. Upon entry the place was fairly empty. Aside from our party there were 7 people inside including a child. So again the place was super empty and we had a group of 18-20 and it remained empty for the duration of our stay. At no point were there more than 10 people other than our group in the bar during the time we were there. The waiters gave us conflicting information on where we could order and were rude when we asked for clarity. They pointed at us the entire time we were in the establishment and were speaking about us in earshot of us. The manager realized the poor service and offered complimentary shots as way to make up for the subpar service. Two flatbread pizzas were brought out near the end of our time there, instead of the shots and when the waitress placed the food (the food we dis not order) on the table she said "can you say thank you" . We decided to leave at that point and again due to conflicting information there was another issue. The waitress placed all the items on 3 checks when the manager stated the bills can be spilt up as many times as we'd like. The waitress again told us she wouldn't do it and we have to wait for the manager so she can confirm. Once the manager told her we could split the bill more than 3 ways she refused to come back and split the bill, instead the manager came over to apologize for the continued inconvenience. We ultimately placed all the orders on one card. While we were trying to address the mixup we informed the manager and the waitress that she had a nasty attitude for the entirety of our time. She pretended she didn't know what we were talking about and an argument ensued. We never had an issue before but then again she has never been our waitress. Safe to say we will never be back.

Stayed at the Moxy downtown for a weekend! Recreation is the bar/lounge on the 3rd floor and when I tell y'all the staff took care of me--they took care of ME! Special shout-out to Jorge and Quay behind the bar--y'all are the best! And the manager, Anthony went ABOVE and BEYOND and brought food to my room! Anthony you the real MVP! Great place to come have a drink, meet friends, and get all the good vibes! I'll stay at Moxy again just to visit this bar and hang with the staff! Thanks y'all, you made this Texas girl feel very welcomed!

I supposed to give one star but another bartenders were nice, so one rotten fish will make all bad! I'm not a tourist but I went to Recreation because my cousins who came from Florida picked this place to meet up. Yes! this bar is very touristy place, that is why one of the bartender just work like a brat and didn't care about being nice to customers. Rude and trashy service that what I can describe. Because most customers won't go back and enjoy their vacation for a short period of time. The bar is at 3 level, has cool decoration, like old radio and books, high ceiling, but not good view because the floor is so low and all buildings around are so tall. Moxy's midtown is so much better, if you talk about nice tourist spot.

It has potential to be such a nice place, but they definitely need new management and/or staff to run this place. You can be the most understanding and low maintenance customer and the quality of service is still terrible and the servers are just so rude for no reason. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER BARS IN THE SURROUNDING AREA THAT DESERVES YOUR MONEY, SO DON'T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!!

We came here for a friend's birthday and had an amazing time. Recreation is located on top of the Moxy Hotel in the financial district in NYC. Everything is set up as a giant game room for guests to enjoy. You have video games, skeet ball, board games, and my favorite a basketball court. You can spread out through the area and play games at your leisure. Food and drink prices were typical downtown prices. You can expect to pay around $18 for a cocktail here. It was crowded on a Wednesday afternoon with people finishing up work and hanging out. The group ordered several different options so you can try one of everything. I would come back here again for a group outing or a date. The only con I had was the high prices but other than that this is a great place to hang out.

The bar tenders were very hospitable and made conversation. We stopped in to take a break from walking and hydrate. We were not hotel guests. Happy hour was very affordable. 5$ drafts 8$ well drinks. The music was fun and the decor very light and hip.

came here for nye which was a great time! sadly the games weren't available to play, like the pac-man, basketball, or shuffle board. only one skee ball machine was working. overall it was very spacious and a good time. loved the drinks and the vibes for NYE and the pizza they served while we were here

Went here based on @goodeatsonlynyc's instagram page & I was not impressed. They had two skee ball machines one was out of order, one Pac-Man table for two people, a giant connect four, & a room open to all to play basketball. Once you get up from your table you lose it. Food was overpriced for portion size. I had the lobster roll that was $22 it was good but both pieces could fit in the palm of my hand. My fiancé & I end up leaving without playing any games because of the wait for everything.

Great spot for happy hour/after work drinks! We loved the games and there is always plenty of space so everyone is comfortable. 5 stars in particular for Tyler who was fantastic and really made our night!

The most recent time I came here the waiter didn't offer me the itemized bill until after I paid... where I saw they'd already added auto gratuity. So I double paid tip. I was closing the tab for several people (they just put it on my tab for ease of tracking for the waiter since he said we couldn't have separate tabs.. which is also weird for a bar, but we were sitting at the table, so I didn't argue it). I didn't really have a good mental check point of what the bill should be, so he told me the amount and I paid it. Upon handing him my signed receipt (with gratuity added bc of course I'd tip), he offered me the itemized receipt which he had readily available, it's not like a reprint was needed later. So he just hid it until I was committed to the tip. At which point I realized they'd already included gratuity in my original total. But I'd just handed him my signed receipt with tip... so that was shady. I didn't want to ask for it back because I already felt uncomfortable with the way he was interacting with me while I was paying. Felt creepy and I just wanted to exit. It's a shame because it did like this place before that. It's a nice venue with the games, basketball court, etc. I'd organized a couple events here before but I won't anymore.

If I could give a zero I would, honestly the hospitality is so off here. Came in with some friends to grab a few drinks & we sat at a table waited for about 10 minutes no one came so one of us went to the bar to order. While we're finally enjoying our drinks we ask for water and in disbelief the manager comes over damn near yelling at us asking how are we going to pay in a very nasty tone as if we didn't have money. Mind you we weren't even done ordering drinks but that just made us not want to anymore. And it was around 12:30ish am and they close at 2:30 am so we were confused. The manager went around slamming the connect 4 into the pins & was rude to other customers there to the point everyone by the game section were just looking at each other like what's wrong with this guy? He even tripped on a chair & we told him to just take it easy and relax which he didn't like as he shot us a nasty look and mentioned something about being the manager of the place. Can't believe it I always had such a good time there but I guess it's because that guy wasn't here...customer service & hospitality-100000000.

I came here with co workers to get some work done and the service was absolutely awful. There was a bug in my salad. Then we were told we had to move several times for an event, which is fine, but the staff was very rude about it when we were paying customers. When I went to close out, I was told I had to wait while the bartender served three other people instead. Then he proceeded to say, "it's a bold move to close out when it gets busy." As thought that's my problem, or I need to close out on his terms not mine as the customer. It's a shame because the food and drinks are decent but the staff is so rude.The manager even came up to me asking how I could be served and I said, "i just want to close out," and he also did not help me. He walked away. This place is awful. I don't think I'll go back until I know they have new management and staff has an attitude adjustment.

This bar is a joke amongst actual NYers. It's fine for tourists though. My vodka soda was super weak. Asked to buy an extra shot. That made my drink $43 in total. Bartenders just amateurish and have no clue. Shame too because the games are cool and space is nice. Surprised it's a Moxy. Service is more on par with a Best Western type place

They have a DJ on Friday nights which is nice and it is a cool atmosphere. Great happy hour specials. It gets pricey after happy hour. The food we ordered didn't match the menu descriptions. I ordered the same sandwich twice in the same night and it was prepared vastly different the second time with extra ingredients I didn't order and weren't on the menu. Very strange. We ordered the seasonal flatbread and it also didn't fit the menu description and had tomatoes on it. The food was very salty. Waitress was nice. I would go back.

Pretty good place honestly! Great choice of drinks, and the food was so so good. The margarita pizza was amazing and the burrata on toast was literally one of the best ones I've ever had. Not sure if it was just me, but my drink was pretty strong and I was feeling tipsy before I could even finish it. I also loved the fact that they had a bunch of different games to play! Last, the vibe was AMAZING. Loved the high ceilings, yellow lights, fancy lamps and music! Would recommend this place for sure.

The vibe of this place is immaculate. I absolutely loved the layout of this place and how they've curated it. There's even a hidden basketball court to shoot hoops. Now that's a heck of an experience. The bar is very hip. The bartenders were super busy but very nice to us. The drinks are definitely on the pricey end. We did not eat any food here but the food is also on the expensive side. I also got the feeling that a lot of people at the bar were looking for company and open to meeting people so heads up to those looking to link. This is a great place to come, drink chill, talk, laugh, enjoy the ambience, shoot some hoops, take some pictures and have an awesome time.

Great place!! It's a fun place for a date night. They have games from Nintendo 64, skeeball, checkers, chess, connect four, basketball, fooseball, and etc. They have amazing drinks good food. It's giving a college nostalgic vibe

Service is horrible only one waiter taking orders for 8 tables. When food is brought out its taken to the wrong table. Extremely unorganized and not prepared for the patrons in multitude of a crowd. When making reservations a customer shouldn't have to go to the bar and order drinks. Unacceptable!

I wasn't sure how to review this establishment so I'm just gonna share this experience, when we walk in the hotel host was extremely rude if u want the video i wont mind to share , it was not welcoming or polite just rude , so we went straight to the top floor of the hotel . It is a nice hotel we sat at the bar and ordered off the menu we went for happy hour after museum hopping . I ordered a whiskey sour i had 3 and ect , we did end up drinking and playing a little basketball the mood changed . We got the bill and the bartender said that my drinks was not off the happy hour menu and yes whiskey was on the menu he made it completely different I did not know (he used egg white and I don't eat eggs I'm a pescatarian) keep in mind i asked for whisky and sour mix light ice that's my drink. So the drinks was full price and i left it as that. Would I go bad HELL NO but the aesthetic of this hotel is nice. I will post some pictures soon

Do Better. Horrible attitude. Horrible service. My friend & I came to celebrate our friend on his 1 year anniversary in NYC. Place and decor is really cool spacious open loft hipster look with games, but in NYC FiDi- 3 blocks from WTC. However... remember this is Marriott owned hotel attempting nyc boutique vibes!& failing at basic concept of what it means to run a business. Two bartenders and about 6 bar backs couldn't handle 4 seated & served couples and three people attempting to order. The female bartender in a black rock sweatshirt fastened with safety pins not only has no business in being a bartender as she cannnot manage to make basic overpriced cocktails to tourists, but has zero rapport and no concept of what good or even decent customer service is. There is no doubt in my mind that the staff there regularly phones it in bc they don't care about quality nyc service since it's an overpriced chain hotel bar posing as a wannabe eclectic nyc boutique hotel. I am sure this rude bartender is used to getting away with treating our nyc tourists with zero repurcussions... however I as a Ny'er would not tolerate the lack of service, attention and decorum. DO BETTER, Marriott.

My group and I got there a little later in the night and it was pretty packed. Once we got our seats, we started off with a few shots and we eventually ordered a pitcher of this spicy drink that I cannot even remember the name of. There was a massive Jenga, and a few other games that ended up being fun and I'm not a fan of these games normally. We had a good time. Overall experience was a 10/10.

A cute spot to hang out with your friend or family, I went with my friend, they have a spot to play board game, basketball, ping pong and etc. The drinks and snacks was good

The servers were very kind, the atmosphere was great, but the drinks were absolutely horrible. I would pay that high of a price for a really nice drink, but most of ours tasted like dirty dishwater. They all looked quite nice, but my group found it hard to finish any of our drinks off of their menu, especially at the higher price point!We gave them one more chance by getting a basic lemon drop, but it still was pretty gross, again, like dirty dishwater! My boyfriend and I ordered the same thing, and the two drinks tasted completely different. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, and if the drinks were better I would be coming back, but unfortunately there are much better options in the area.

I was pleasantly surprised by the staff and the food. The bartender and a couple other people hanging around on New Year's Eve afternoon, were all very friendly, outgoing and downright awesome. Our cocktails and our food came out very quickly, and it was all very good. We will go back when we're down in that area again.

Recreation post-pandemic has been under new management with all new cocktails and menu items. It's a great place to have fun with friends and family. Kid-friendly games like pac man and skee-ball as well as a whole half court all within the lounge space. My favorite drink is the 'Nothin but Net' a watermelon cocktail. They also have trivia nights, live music, fantasy nights, and DJs coming in on the weekends. Definitely a hidden gem in the city.

I will start off by saying that I always read reviews whenever travelling for restaurants, hotels, etc however I rarely write reviews unless my experience was so horrible that I want to warn others. I felt that I absolutely had to write this review for Recreation because I honestly was super hesitant to go there after reading some seriously bad reviews. The motivation I had to try it out was for my teenage kids who love basketball and were intrigued by this half court inside the restaurant. So I braced myself and went and had zero expectations .. well boy was I so pleasantly surprised by the whole experience!! First of all I emailed them in advance because I wasn't sure if my teens would be allowed in as I thought it was more of a bar than a restaurant. I received a very professional and helpful email in return explaining that the kids were welcomed and just weren't allowed to sit at the bar (obviously) so that was perfect. We headed there for a late lunch and from the extremely patient hostess to the lovely, polite and professional waitress and the lounge like decor- the ambiance felt extremely comfortable and fun. The food was tasty, fresh and fairly priced and I also found there was a decent selection of what to eat for a bar.. oh and they have a great coffee machine if you love good coffee! The lounge area was so cozy and eating/drinking there while spending time playing board games, skee ball and of course basketball was such an added bonus!!! My kids met other kids and loved their experience there too.. another bonus!.. so yes!.. I would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone, but especially families with kids (tweens/teens) who can spend some time in a cool fun place with their family while in NYC!! I know that we will definitely go back each time we visit!!

The servers here are very nice and friendly. They offer free drinks for reviews as well. It's calm and very lowkey. Definitely recommend coming here if you have the time. Nuzhaat and Nellie are the best bartender dual I've ever seen.

We came into the city for my husbands birthday. Ended up her at the Moxy Hotel downtown. We love our expresso Martinis and had the BEST Expresso Martini we have ever had here!! Made by Nellie our mixologist! Please check this cocktail lounge out! Xoxo

We're staying at the Moxy for a week through the new year and you have go through this restaurant to go to your room. There is a game room with a basketball court on one end and free arcade games with Pac-Man and skew ball on the other. The vibe is very chill. The drinks were made very strong which isn't a bad thing. We ordered a pretty in pink and risky business. My girlfriend has to have them water the drink down it was so strong. And in the risky business you could taste the ginger. It was really strong. To eat we ordered a 4 cheese and bbq flatbread. One is big enough for real people. I liked the four cheese a little better than the bbq. The also gave some cold options but on a cold day you want something warm. Around 5 pm there was a dj playing music. He played some hip hop and r&b. The lights were dimmed and the vibe was super chill. This spot actually surprised me. It was busy, but not overly crowded and indoors so away from the cold. I'd you are looking for a different place to one hang out check out Recreation.

We had such a fabulous time celebrating my friend's birthday at recreation this evening. Majed was a wonderful host and provided excellent service. The place had a nice energetic ambiance with a DJ. I would recommend coming here to celebrate a birthday. The place also has a Photo Booth and nice seating areas.

super cute place with free fun games and game themed cocktails but dont expect bartenders to do their jobs LMAO they're so rude I asked for a cucumber gimlet and the bartender literally acted like I was asking her to lay down her life for me they also have extremely outdated menus and don't know how to make basic drinks we settled for their mediocre margs which barely had any alcohol and when we asked for a salt rim they gave us sugar?!¿ all the bartenders ignored us and we were patiently and very politely waiting - don't know what prompted them to treat us like that

Spending the night at the Moxy. Headed to longe until my room ready. The bartender was super friendly and offered suggestions as to what drinks I should try. He has been attentive But not too obtrusive. The lounge area is clean and set up with private tables or long tables for community sitting. There is an old PacMan game, skew ball and table hockey. The drink: margarita was good, could have been a little spicier for my taste. I ordered size garden salad which was OK at best, I need to know more flavors.

Came here with a beautiful lady. Love the decor, reminds me of my favorite place. Drinks were definitely strong but place shuts down too early. Good thing I pilfered our booze

Came here for a drink and loved the atmosphere. Great for talking but they play fun music too. Draft beers are 9 dollars which is a bit steep but not excessive. I'll be back!

Great food. Loved the avocado toast. Came with a soft boiled egg which I'm glad they took the time to do. It was really filling and had lots of flavor. My SD had the parfait with a muffin. He swallowed it so I'm guessing he liked it. The half of muffin is still there so it wasn't bangin, but still a decent muffin. The chai latte was very good, but I do wish that I got a bigger cup of it for the price. The orange juice was also fresh squeezed so that was a nice surprise. The service is kind of slow. They come when they want at first so make sure to give them the I would like to eat eyes when you first sit down.

Super cute bar to kick back, have a drink and relax. There are free games like skeeball, Pac-Man, and even a mini basketball court to shoot around. The decor is very "instagram worthy."

I went to Recreation after the 4th of July fireworks this year. For such a popular night of the year, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the bar was not incredibly crowded, but had enough people around to give it a nice amount of energy. The space is very well decorated with many interesting artistic details and has a nice modern feel to it as well. It is located a few floors up from the initial reception in the building, with many people staying at the hotel going in and out of the bar, which was distracting but not necessarily a negative. As other reviews have mentioned, the service was slow considering it wasn't overly busy. We ordered two beers, then spent the rest of the time playing all of the different games in the bar. They had a small two-player arcade machine, a shuffle board table, two skee ball machines, and board games. There's also a basketball court but the place began to close before we had a chance to check it out. Overall a fun time!

The Recreation was 1/3 full which was great. My colleagues and I went after work and was able to play all the games there Skee-Ball, Foosball, Connect 4, Pac-man, and shuffleboard. The cocktails were a bit pricey. The fried chicken and waffle bites were yummy! Overall good experience but attentive servers would've made it better since the area is a big open area with not so crowded room.
