"The classic Cantonese restaurant Red 8 inside Boston’s Encore Casino will once again be featuring a Lunar New Year special menu. At $188 per person, you can enjoy a multi-course set menu that includes braised Chinese sea moss with abalone, wok-fried scallops and prawns with XO sauce, and steamed turbot to name a few — which is quite a bargain." - Erika Adams, Valerie Li Stack

I had a very disappointing experience at Red 8 inside Encore Boston Harbor. I was looking forward to a quality Asian dining experience, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. The food was excessively oily and overly spicy, even though I didn’t request spicy dishes. The flavors were heavy and unbalanced, and it left me feeling uncomfortable after the meal. Service was also lacking. The staff didn’t offer any help or suggestions when we asked about the menu, and overall they seemed indifferent and rushed. For a restaurant in a luxury hotel, I expected a much higher level of attention and hospitality. The prices were surprisingly high for what was served — very basic dishes with subpar quality. I wouldn’t mind paying a premium if the food and service matched, but this was not the case. To make matters worse, the actual interior of the restaurant looked nothing like the elegant photos shown on the website. It felt more like a casual eatery than a fine dining spot. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with Red 8. I would not return or recommend it. There are far better dining options both inside and outside the hotel.

Google
This place has amazing food. I was there for Chinese New year with friends. The food was AMAZING. Very authentic. Great service. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Outside they also had had a tea spot and the milk tea was great as well.

Google
This is the BEST Cantonese restaurant outside of Boston! They are a meticulous restaurant with a great emphasis on providing the best attention to detail in their ambiance, plating, and service. I highly recommend their Peking Duck, sweet and sour pork, and those fat and juicy clams in black bean sauce! Definitely a must try! Given that the restaurant is inside Encore Boston Harbor casino, diners under 21 years old go through a different door. Talk to the hostess and they will open the door for them from the hallway.

I have ordered take out before, and this was my first time dining in. ALL staff, not just our waiter, were welcoming and made the dining experience enjoyable. We were greeted with smiles and left with “thank yous.” Customer service is outstanding, and the food is always delicious. Thank you for making dining in so relaxing.

Google
Overall good Chinese food, but not at the high quality. Compare to the food, dishes are bit over pricy (not too much). Service was okay, but not the best. Atmosphere is quite nice and enjoyable for most of the customers. All of the menu we tried was at a good level; not great, nor bad.

Google
this is a chinese restaurant outlet in the Wynn Encore Boston. Surprisingly, the food is not bad. The wonton noodle soup is better than China Town. Fried calamari is also good taste. Recommended

Came here for dinner with a group reserved in a private room. We ordered Peking duck , lobsters , steamed fish , veggies , crabs , oysters, scallops , clams and fried rice . It was nice quiet setting inside the private room and we have our host and servers . Pretty good services but the food was nowhere near Chinatown’s authenticity and flavors. It was pretty basic and more Americanize Chinese food. We enjoyed the company and atmosphere here since that’s the only upside.

Firstly I must say I value (in chronological order) food, service and ambience. Red 8 was a 5 across the board! I planned my mother's 60th Birthday celebration at Red 8, it was a group of 18 guests so booking had to go through Encore. I had the pleasure of working with Cassidy who was responsive, patient and shared great ideas/options to make the event custom to our liking (custom menu, balloons, poster etc). The venue is incredibly beautiful with splashes of gold, red and blue with elevated elegance. Our servers Ricky and Iris were phenomenal. Ricky was incredibly honest, knowledgeable and guided me through the menu throughout the night. Iris was incredibly attentive and ensured all guests were served and taken care of. The events manager and shift manager were so welcoming and friendly. As I mentioned to start, food is usually top for me but after the service we received at RED 8, I don't think I can accept anything less. Highly recommend Red 8 Encore for your next group event.

Yelp
RED 8 is located in the encore Boston Harbor Casino complex. All of the restaurants there exceptional. This one is famous for its Brisket noodle soup. It is HUGE, and can easily feed two. The broth is savory, and very filling, because fat adds flavor. THE DEAL: RED 8 makes some of the best beef collagen noodle soup you've never had

Suha L.

Yelp
Red8 restaurant is located inside Encore, Boston's premier casino! Mind you, the quality of this restaurant makes it stand out on its own. The restaurant is designed so that you can look into the casino and watch people play, while still offering a restaurant feel. We were treated with exemplary service by the staff and were given some of the best dishes! We started off with peking duck, giant grilled oysters, and soft shell crab. the peking duck was some of the best I've had- the skin was perfect, the meat juicy, the wraps a perfect thickness. Oysters were surprisingly huge and flavorful, but was a bit confused about the beans. Soft shell crab was also the best I've ever had. I'm usually not the biggest fan but this was fantastic. The seasonings were perfectly balanced with salt, spice, and umami. The cook/fry was also perfect where the shell still had crisp but also wasn't scratching my throat. For entrees, we had beef tenderloin, honey walnut prawns, pea shoots, and salted fish fried rice. I've never had a Chinese beef dish as high quality as this. Each bite was like a piece of perfectly cooked steak, grilled to medium rare. We barely even had to chew because it was so tender. Honey walnut prawns were crispy and full of meat. The sauce was creamy and a bit acidic for balance. Pea shoots were unassuming but a classic, authentic comfort dish. Lastly, the fried rice. The fish itself was good (and indeed salty like its name) but just a bit unimpressive compared to the other dishes. This was one of the best dining experiences I had in Boston. I just wish it was closer to the city! It's hard to get to without a car but I'm still going back.

Yelp
We went for drinks and apps what we got was great! But the server wasn't very nice. I love that the restaurants in the casino/hotel put your purses on chairs. If you like spice I would get the spicy chili wontons! The ambiance is great it's a fun lounge with casino floor views

Jimmy N.

Yelp
I was so disappointed when I got my Mongolian beef... This was my FAVORITE DISH to get at Red 8. The beef was super tender and flavorful before. The quality of the beef was like steak. If you look back on my recent photos and compare to my recent trip, you can tell the quality fell off. To charge $31 for a dish that looks like it's from a local corner fast food Chinese restaurant is ridiculous. If I could, I would've went back and requested the dish to be remade lol it was that bad. Luckily the general gaos was good. If it's a chef thing, please do us all a favor and let him/her go lol I'm hoping I just went on a bad day... I will come back and hope that it's better.

Yelp
This dish is mostly flour except for a little fat. It is fried and mainly consists of flour. It costs $26.88. In addition, the waiter's service attitude is very bad.

Boming F.

Yelp
Come here if you like worms/tape worms in your food! I found both in my pea leaves with garlic dish. They obviously don't wash the veggies when they are charging $38.88 for it! Disgusting!

Irene F.

Yelp
Completely mediocre, over priced food. Also very loud setting right on the casino floor. I will definitely not be returning.

Mimi C.

Yelp
I haven't been to Red 8 for a while and this weekend made me fall in love with them all over again. The food was amazing. The sweet and sour pork was juicy! It's very hard to make fried meat juicy but they've mastered it. The Peking Duck remains the best in Massachusetts. The clams in black bean sauce were made perfectly. The service is top notch and the ambiance is out-worldly great. Overall, an amazing dining experience.

Hieu T.

Yelp
We were in the casino and hungry so decided to stop for lunch. The place was empty and nice decor but the food was just ok. We had Peking duck, fried rice and Mongolian beef. The portion of Peking duck was tiny and I meant tiny. It was very small, barely for one person. Food was just way overpriced. Service was good. Ana and another waitress were very good. I would skip it next time. Drive another 15 minutes to Chinatown and you will have better food with cheaper price. Overall, not recommended...

Yelp
Red 8 is my favorite restaurant inside of Encore. I highly recommend making a reservation on their website if you decide to come on a weekend. I almost exclusively come here for their Peking Duck, which is unique and hard to find in Boston. It's not served the traditional Chinese way, but has an American fusion twist to it. They also serve a special course menu for Chinese New Year, I highly recommend their Peking Duck tasting for two which comes with six dishes. Of note, it's only available Wednesday to Sunday at certain times. It is a lot of food and you will be full from it and probably have leftovers. The first dish is two pieces of duck wrap that is served ready to eat (traditionally, you would make this yourself). The duck salad is very enjoyable and delicious and comes in an edible bowl. Next are the duck soup and noodles which are also good. My favorite disk is the wok-fried sliced duck since it has the most flavor. The gelato dessert is a great finisher. Go with the mango if you want a lighter dessert or go with the hazelnut for the most sugar. I've also ordered their separate Peking Duck which can come in a half or full portion. This isn't served traditionally either as they don't cut the dish in front of you and just bring the dish out ready to serve with buns and veggies. The Peking Duck doesn't beat China or NYC quality, but it's the best Boston has to offer. It's worth a try if you're never had it before.

Yelp
For the past few months, I've dined here a couple of times. I have tried their Mongolian beef, steamed shrimp & pork shu mai, whole peking duck, sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef, sauteed pea pods, braised tofu, Wagyu beef pot stickers, chicken & salty fish fried rice, Malaysian pineapple shrimp & chicken fried rice. The Mongolian beef was definitely one of my favorite dishes there. The beef was very tender and the dish had the right amount of spice. The shrimp and pork shu mai is definitely a good appetizer. The shu mai were plump and juicy. Although they don't carve the peking duck in front of you, the peking duck is actually really good. I wish they gave us more scallions and cucumbers for the wraps though. The braised tofu, sweet and sour pork, and the chicken and salty fish fried rice were all delicious. On the other hand, the Malaysian pineapple and chicken fried rice was a disappointment. The pineapple chunks were sour and the fried rice was very bland. For drinks, I have tried both the Lucky Envelope and Strawberry Bliss. The Lucky Envelope came with strawberry and lychee puree, mint, lime and soda water. It was pretty good. The Strawberry Bliss was made up of strawberry puree, pomegranate juice, basil and lemon. I didn't really like it. Service is a hit or miss. Sometimes, the waitstaff is very attentive and other times, they are not. Overall, I gave this place a solid four stars.

Robbin S.

Yelp
We had reservations and waited for a table an additional 15 minutes. We had high expectation as we were staying at the Wynn. We were quite disappointed. We split the chicken fried rice and it was so dry and bland with very little chicken. Quite disappointing especially within such a classy place. The noise level was extremely high then became tolerable as people left.

Jeannette S.

Yelp
The food was fresh and delicious. The service was excellent!! The staff was polite, attentive , and went above and beyond to provide a wonderful dinning experience. The ambience was perfect. Our dinning experience at Red 8 was truly exceptional

Taylor L.

Yelp
First shout out to iris our waitress was amazing excellent service food was incredible everything was so tasty and restaurant is gorgeous will definitely come again

Briana L.

Yelp
I came here for one dish only - the Peking duck. It's been hard to find one around Boston so I figured to give this spot a try. An order of a whole Peking duck is $88, which is a little pricey but worth it. It came with wraps and two sauces to dip in. The skin was very crispy and the meat was juicy and flavorful. One thing I didn't like was how they stacked one layer of the duck under the first layer (because the plate was small) and it made the skin of the duck underneath not crispy anymore. They could've used a bigger plate or separate to keep the skin crispy. Otherwise, it was delicious and worth trying if you've never had Peking duck before.

Andrew B.

Yelp
Is the food spectacular, to the point of knocks you off your chair? No. But it is very, very, very good Asian cuisine. We have eaten here several times and everything we have ordered has been excellent. Staff has been attentive. Restaurant has always been clean. Prices are fair for the location. Will happily go again really don't have anything bad to say.

Phoebe T.

Yelp
The duck was really really delicious! I would say it's a must try. The duck skin is crispy but slightly oily, which was awesome! Making it into a roll by adding some veggie and sauce balanced every thing! The wonton was also delicious, but kinda of spicy. Two things we ordered but not in the picture were a friend rice and eggplant. The portion of the the eggplant was big and delicious. However, the fired rice was not good cause it didn't have any Wok Hei, and only had two shrimp, which is really sad. The service was okay over all. It took a very long time until we got the fired rice, but the waiter/waitress kept checking for us. Only I felt they were too busy and took a long time to refill our tea. The restaurant was busy and quite noisy since it's next to the casino. I would say it's not the best Chinese restaurant in town, but it's worth it to come and try the duck!

Chaya B.

Yelp
Been here many times, in fact it's the most reasonable priced restaurant in the casino besides D&D's which doesn't count ( IMO). I wanted my friend to try Chinese Chef with a Michelin Star. We ordered the steamed pot stickers , they were okay. We had two vegan dishes with tofu, Lo mein and a veggie dish with Bok Choi, & hot and sour soup. My friend got this desert. On menu it said hazelnut cake, but it's not what you expect from the title. However it is a show stopper presentation. White chocolate layer, mouse layer, crispy bit layer and chocolate covered toasted hazelnuts. Wait staff always friendly. PS * Reminder to use your accumulated points to help pay your bill.

David H.

Yelp
I was underwhelmed for its famous Peking duck. It was clearly a simple Cantonese cooked duck, which doesn't taste bad but still is a very different cooking style and expected price. The other dishes we ordered were mediocre and the service was slow. I wouldn't come here again.

Ellie M.

Yelp
We stopped by Red 8 for dinner and it did not disappoint. The staff was very quick and nice. The Kobe dumplings were so delicious! They were unlike any dumpling I've had before. For entrees, we ordered the chicken chow mein and general tso and they were both good! Red 8 is certainly a good choice for food at the Encore!

June-Young C.

Yelp
This review is for the Peking duck tasting menu. Make sure you reserve ahead of time and also make sure that day has the option available. They don't make the Peking duck every day. Come hungry! It's actually a lot of food. If you're a Wynn rewards casino member, then make sure you check if you have compdollars to use towards your meal. Definitely a great deal for the amount of food even if you're paying full price. The duck is split up into many courses and don't expect to have a person slice up a whole duck in front of you. Each dish is very flavorful and the duck is very juicy. The salad was actually really cool with a fried wonton chip kind of bowl. Definitely not super traditional, but it was great. Probably the most filling thing on the set menu is the noodles. It's a huge serving size! I wish the ice cream could be ordered separately because it was amazing! Very fresh mango flavor that was both sweet and tart.

David R.

Yelp
This is a great location inside of Encore Boston Harbor. This review is way way over due, as I was in a quandary over my rating. I frequent this location and really enjoy the cuisine. The issue I was having last year was seating and service. I would go and request a table for one or two people and they would tell me the wait was an hour or so???? I found this ridiculous as the place would be half empty. On more than one occasion there were only six tables with guests and they told be half hour to forty-five minutes for a table. This is totally unacceptable. They blamed staffing. This went on for approximately a year. I am glad to say a few months ago this all changed. I believe they replaced the management. I'm very glad the restaurant is now usually fully packed and seems to rub more smoothly. As for the food. As you would expect the prices are a tad higher than normal being located in a resort. However once you are familiar with the menu, it is easy to enjoy a great meal at a decent price. A few of the things that stand out in my eyes are The Taiwanese spicy beef soup, and believe it or not a glass of watermelon juice. The beef is off the hook as are the veggies. Oh and by all means do not miss the Ho Fun noodles when ordering the soup. This is a large in house made fat rice noodle. Another winner especially for a tourist as somebody on vacation is the house rice served in a pineapple, great for the photographers out there. The restaurant is spotless. The current staff are fabulous, polite and trained well. FYI the main entrance is located inside the casino, however children can enjoy the restaurant by entering from a second entrance thru a locked door located in the hotels main hallway by ringing a doorbell. Parking is still free in the underground garage or valet at hotels main entrance. This is a wonderful place to celebrate a birthday or special occasions.

Yelp
I've been dying to try Red 8 for a while now so I finally visited when my parents came to visit Boston this past weekend. We had to wait at the hostess station for a while as there were no one at the front to greet any customer that enters the door. The service was not very good as our server only stopped at our table to take food orders and to drop off our check; we had to get 3 different individuals just to get refills and extra bowls. One of the bussers was actually the most attentive than our actual server as she saw us looking around at the table while our server was either at the server station or chatting away with his other tables except us. The ambiance at the restaurant was very nice though, and the food tasted great. However, I did find it very odd that the entrees don't come with rice (we ordered Kung Pao Chicken) because it is pretty standard to serve white rice with Asian stir fry entrees. The Peking duck was absolutely delicious but the portion is very laughable for it to be $61 (half order); the full portion would be $119. Overall, our experience at Red 8 was not too great. We very likely won't be coming back again.

Heather M.

Yelp
Just ok for me. I have to do gluten free and it seemed like it was doable then my food came out....umm well...yuck. Service was not great for our visit.

Hursuong V.

Yelp
I was pretty amazed that there would be a rather legit Chinese restaurant in this casino that served Peking duck. Overall pretty standard food but overpriced. Definitely very juicy duck though and had enough to serve our group, but not the best I ever had. Clean, nice ambience and super pleased that it is a non-smoking casino. Also, the food came out super quickly.

Bob G.

Yelp
It's very rare that I have a bad dining experience and even rarer that writing about it reminds me never to go back there... ever! So, let's get into it. The Setup: Red 8 is an oriental restaurant located in the Casino floor of the Encore Boston Casino and Resort. It's nicely decorated and both my wife and I have wanted to try it for some time. Last Saturday night, after a trip to the Encore Salon and then down to the Casino for a little fun, we decided about 6:30 that we didn't feel like leaving yet but were hungry. Knowing we were coming back to the gambling floor to continue playing Baccarat, (we both were up from our initial wagering:) a nice meal here seemed in order vs. dealing with it at home later. We were near Fratelli's our usual always great "go to", but also close to Red 8... so... we both said, "Let's give it a try!" It was busy, 15 minute wait, so we hung around the slots and waited for them to page our cellular. Phone rings... in we go! It was very busy and very noisy. Difficult to hear one another across the table. Dinner and specialty drink menus were handed to us. Not your typical fare?? I ordered a Martini and my wife an ice tea. Waiter had difficulty speaking English so an older gentleman came over to explain the menu while we waited for our drinks. Mine arrived. It was only half full!!?? I asked the gentleman "what's up with this?" He explained that they only use a 1 oz shot/pour for all drinks!!! 20 bucks!!! I asked for another oz to at least get close to the rim... "sorry, we can't pour a double!!??" Grrrr. We ordered Dim Sum (appetizers) and the entrees were few and we overheard someone grumbling about their food. They did have a selection "From the Tank" featuring four different live fish including a Bourbot, a fish I've caught in Japan. Sadly, it would have been tempting had they a glass tank visible to the guests, both entertaining and pick your own dinner (I know, I can hear the ladies reading this saying "oh gross" lol) but starting at $62/lb. and not being able to see the tank... they are missing a great lure (pun intended) to try it! We ordered: House rice (best of the bunch) Chicken Wings (they were big, but the coating was not to my liking) and I love chicken wings! Lemon Chicken Wagyu beef potstickers (taste was not extraordinary and they tried to upsell us to beef tenderloins at $65) Crab Rangoon (which we never got) The lemon chicken presented looked sloppy and it was barely warm. Folks next to our table order the same and theirs looked totally different and appealing. My two sips of my drink and it was gone. Ordered another ($20) while was waited for the Crab Rangoon (one of my wife's favorites). No show. When the food was brought out, waiters grabbed our water glasses by the rim, to move them out of the way!!??? (Hello Covid and Flu) and God only knows where their hands have been that night. The service was very poor. We were ignored for the entire time. They forgot the Crab Rangoon, handed me a $149 tab (with the missing item listed) seemed like they were only interested in flipping the table. I mentioned the missing item and how disappointing we were. No reaction!! They adjusted the tab. And, we wanted out of there asap. Should have gone to the Shake Shack and just had a drink and a great burger!! We're never going back. Too bad. You're a captive audience at the Encore so be careful!! Bon Appetite!!

Rosemary S.

Yelp
Don't allow the cover to fool you or miss out. Everything was enjoyed by all. You do not eat meat? There are options for you. You like spicy? Just tell them how spicy. You do not drink alcohol? There are options for you. Hint:Lucky Envelope. We had a wonderful evening with proper attentive service. Have people in the group that are picky? Your waitstaff will provide extra attention. The only hiccup was the espresso. Do not order it. Order a cup of coffee. I think there was a Tablespoon full of espresso in my little tiny cup. It wasn't even half full. See pics. Last but not least you will do a disservice to yourself if you do not have the mango sorbet which is flowing with flavors like mango, lychee, dragonfruit. It was just YUM! Too busy eating to take pics. List of food tried: Shrimp and green papaya salad Crispy shrimp spring roll Steam mushroom and vegetable dumpling Crispy salt & pepper wing Mongolian beef Shrimp pad Thai Lemon chicken Chicken fried rice Chicken & veg chow mein Mocktails and cocktails

Judy M.

Yelp
One of the better restaurants in the casino but not one of the top Chinese restaurants in Boston - in order words, worth your CompDollars but not real dollars. The Peking duck is a must try of course but another star is the crispy pork belly - the skin is super crispy and flavors are good. My favorite dishes, that were really authentic, are the beef chow food (Penang style), schezuan green beans, and pea pod stems. Do not get the mayo shrimp (batter similar to Chinese takeout chicken fingers) and sea bass fillet was dry and flavorless. I would definitely visit again especially when I'm craving Peking duck!

Courtney F.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came by for dinner last week, and were so impressed with the service! Shout out to our server Jane who went over the top to ensure that we had a great experience. She was so sweet and phenomenal at her job. We ordered a (large...) assortment of food from the menu. Being that I am a vegetarian and he is a meat eater, this is the norm for us, but I loved that Red 8 had plenty of things that we both could share. Favorites of mind included the vegetable Hor Fun and the sauteed Chinese broccoli. So good! Make sure to order the matcha ice cream for dessert. It is truly heavenly. We cannot wait to come back again!

Puku K.

Yelp
The service was excellent the staff there was so helpful I like the stool that they give you to put ur bag On the food was so good and they give you excellent suggestions for your allegers

Alyssa C.

Yelp
Amazing amazing service!!! all of the staff was super friendly and helpful and made it a great experience. However in terms of food, definitely not the best chinese food I've had and very pricey as well. GET: - Braised Beef Brisket noodle soup: surprisingly super delicious!! egg noodle was good, beef/tendon was soft and tender, broth was very tasty - Hong Kong Style Crispy Noodles with Seafood: large serving, good flavors, good amount of meat and noodle - Salted Fish and Diced Chicken Fried Rice: solid fried rice - Peking Duck: not the greatest but it hits the spot if you're craving it. It's juicy and recommend it with the crepe AVOID: - Lychee Dumplings: these were dessert and I honestly don't know what they were exactly. it just tasted.. bad. they were like sour/sweet tasting mush. we each had one bite and no one wanted more - Hula Girl Drink: tasted like a cough drop Overall the food had highs and lows, but was overpriced in general. Fantastic service.

Claudia B.

Yelp
Late night dinner while visiting Boston for college tours. This is one of the only restaurants at Encore hotel that lets minors in for dinner. Gregory was our server. Dinner~ Mongolian beef BBQ Pork and rice King Pao shrimp The restaurant is clean and very modern in details . Staff is engaging and pleasant. New menu and drink selections.

Harry L.

Yelp
This is the Asian restaurant located inside the Encore hotel. The used to have great food and good service, especislly the Peking duck, possibly the best in the Boston area. However, recent change of management and chefs really brought this place down. Menu items are now limited and quality of food went downhill as well. Maybe that caused a chain reaction which led to the poor service now since the waitstaffs are not as accommodating.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Red8, located inside the Encore casino, serves classic cantonese dishes and peking duck. I love that they serve the duck w/ sugar dip the crispy skin of the duck in sugar- absolutely delicious Recommend: duck, seafood crispy noodles, steamed sea l bass fillet (not pictured) Food: 4.7/5 Atmosphere: 3.8/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 4/5

Melena S.

Yelp
I came here on a Thursday night and it was nearly empty so we were seated quickly. The menu is small and the prices of the food are e x p e n s i v e. Usually, I have a hard time deciding what to eat from big menus but this menu was so small, I almost didn't know what to eat because there were so little options. We ended up getting crispy pork belly, crispy shrimp, and mixed greens. The mixed greens ended up being bok choy and that's it. They didn't specify hat greens would be in it, it just said Chinese, but I was expecting more than just bok choy. We also got two mocktails and they were good. The service was good but the food was basic.

Tom Y.

Yelp
The food was actually good for a restaurant at a casino, didn't seem like they rushed the food and definitely didn't take a long time for the food to come out. Everything we had ordered was good even the drinks.

Jody T.

Yelp
Love this restaurant ,food is fresh and tasty, service is 5 star and they have a new bar area if you like to just have a cocktail.

Lucy L.

Yelp
Best Beijing roast duck (Peking duck) in Boston. I've literally tried everywhere. Their oxtail soup was really good too. Highly recommend. I did not give 5 stars because overall the Peking duck isn't as good as some places I've been in China. But again this is the best you can find in Boston.

Deja V.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a group reserved in a private room. We ordered Peking duck , lobsters , steamed fish , veggies , crabs , oysters, scallops , clams and fried rice . It was nice quiet setting inside the private room and we have our host and servers . Pretty good services but the food was nowhere near Chinatown's authenticity and flavors. It was pretty basic and more Americanize Chinese food. We enjoyed the company and atmosphere here since that's the only upside.

Yelp
We came to Encore to celebrate a birthday and Red 8 was the perfect place to grab before before a night at the casino! The team was all very nice (and funny!) and we liked that they could accommodate a larger group. The food and service was great. The portions were perfect sizes and many options for all cravings. The drinks were also very delicious! Would come back for sure!

Emily S.

Yelp
If we could give half stars this would be a 3.5/5. The appetizers we got compliments of the chef were delicious. If I could order that off the menu I definitely would. The peking duck was good, but came out lukewarm and we definitely would have preferred it warmer. The mapo tofu had a decent amount of Szechuan spice, but the tofu lacked flavor and was more so just a vessel for the spice. The black pepper beef tenderloin was very tender, but for the portion we received I don't think it was worth the $49. The wok tossed peashoots were delicious and looked very appetizing as they were a very vibrant green. All in all, an okay meal that was not quite worth the price point. The service was amazing though, very attentive to your needs.

Yelp
Food is under average. Stay away from the Peking duck. The skin wasn't separated from the duck the way it should be. It was no different than a regular roasted duck. The fried rice was lackluster as well lacking in any seasoning.

Yelp
This Chinese restaurant inside Encore casino was the cleanest Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. Food was pretty good, but kind of pricey (because in encore). Service was really good and the staff was so nice. We ordered beef wonton mein and beef fun and some stir fried noodles that I dont know what its called in english. 8/10 would recommend.

Yelp
This place only gets 4 stars because of the staff & service, otherwise its a solid 3. I keep coming back here because my parents like it here and its near the casino. I've come often enough over the years to say the following: Staff are always kind, responsive, and prompt. They stand out and they do a great job here. They've cut down pretty significantly on the menu options since they first opened, which is a bummer because the food was actually worth it back then. The food here is generally a miss for the price point, but on random rare occasions the food is actually quite good. I've basically had everything on the menu at least 3 times now and the only thing truly consistent are the now off menu vegetables, yu choy fried rice, the clams and the chow fun. The barbecue options tend to be too oily/greasy and so does the peking duck. The fried dishes tend to be overcooked and dry. The dumplings are very meh. The lobster is usually also overcooked and dry as well... and at that price point, that's pretty bad. As for the americanized dishes... they're overly sweet and its the dominate profile. The noodle dishes are usually OK, but wouldn't necessarily recommend them. All in all, the food is meh, but the service and ambiance are generally great. I've had several occasions here where some of the dishes are actually really well prepared, so thats why I'll leave this place a 4 rather than a 3.

Yelp
If you feel like waiting hours at a table for a drink then RED 8 should be your go to place for service. My friends and I had a reservation on a sat night - but that didn't matter we had to wait almost 30 minutes to be seated. Once seated, an assortment of waiters stopped by our table until we seemed to finally have one. We ordered drinks which seemed to overwhelm the kind but inexperienced waitress. When we had questions on the menu she sort of freaked out and said she needed to get someone.. Then she came back and we ordered apps. 42 mins later ( yes at this point we began timing) still no drinks but the apps and entrees begin arriving. When my friend politely asked about our drinks she was told " we're busy, you'll get them when you get them! That quote sums up the night perfectly. Basically there seems to be no rhyme or reason to their staff, ordering, etc. they just help you when they help you. No one is going to ask if if you'd like a refill on your drink , except water. They have two waitresses running around with water refills every two seconds. As we were there to celebrate a birthday we had asked for a dessert at the end. We had to remind them about it and then they finally brought out a fortune cookie with breyers ice cream on it. Overall food tasted fine but the random times of items arriving with lousy service actually made us laugh. Save your money from Red 8 and put it towards the slots at encore instead.

Yelp
As expected, prices were absolutely ridiculous, so I decided to go with the Oxtail soup to keep it simple. I got the Oxtail soup and took it to my room, first thing I noticed when I took it out of the bag was that I was going to be enjoying seasoned hot water; because there were only two teeny tiny oxtail pieces in there with barely any carrots, onions, or whatever the hell else they said was in there. The broth was mediocre at best and of course I was still hungry 20mins after drinking my dinner. The best part is that I didn't waste $14 on that crap because I ate it for free, but I could've eaten somewhere else because Red 8 is not the spot.

Yelp
Came here at noon when it is significantly less crowded compared to dinner and had a nice meal. I've had Peiking Duck in Beijing and know the real deal and this is authentic (good enough for Boston). I was hoping for traditional Peiking Duck where they bring out the ducks, wraps, veggie and sauce and you wrap it like a burrito but they changed their menu to be a five course meal. If you want the traditional PK Duck, just ask and they will happily oblige. The five course meal was pretty good. The Duck was legit. I also ordered an oxtail soup that's pretty much a Borsch soup and it is so yummy and beef was tender! My toddler LOVED it despite being a picky eater. Service was solid. You just have to wave them down at times. I was chatting with the waitress and I empathize with the hardship of being in the service industry during a pandemic especially without access to vaccine, she admitted a lot of people come dont leave tip at all...that's so shocking. Overall it isn't cheap but for delicacy like PK Duck, it is well worth it.

Yelp
Came here on a first date for Chinese New Year 2022 and ended up raving more about the food than the guy lol Here's why I'd come back... PROS - Food: They double fry the chicken for the general tso's so it comes out extra crispy and the sauce is perfectly balanced in sweetness and spiciness! It comes surrounded by steamed broccoli which you know, is good for your health lol. We also ordered the pork fried rice which was just SOOO yummy, you could really taste the char from the wok (something I absolutely love hehe). My date poured soy sauce all over his rice....first red flag. Lastly, we ordered the half duck which came with the rice "crepes," plum sauce, duck sauce, cucumbers and scallions (you know, all the regular fixings). Unfortunately the fat to meat ratio was a bit off, so I didn't leave satisfied because the duck needed more time to release some of that fat...texture was just too chewy. Sighhhhh...the lychee cocktail was scrumptious (not strong at all so good to open with) and the mai tai was yummy as well (although again, not too high in alcohol). - Ambiance: Cozy yet classy.....you could take a date here or sit down with family and friends to enjoy a meal CONS - Service: So strangely enough, I'm not here to complain about lack of attention or impoliteness.....more so, safety measures that should be taught in basic training. The overall service we received was kind and surprisingly consistent, granted that we went on a busy night (because hello, it's the year of the tiger!) We enjoyed being checked on by several waitresses and even the manager. The problem is that when I had my ID checked, because we were ordering cocktails, our waitress Christine read aloud my birthday AND my last name!! You might be thinking, "So what?" But unfortunately, in this day and age, we've got too many crazies out there and she had shared my personal information to someone I was meeting for the first time. This guy was still a stranger and she neglected to consider that. Anyway, I've never had a server read out my information aloud....the only thing they should ever do is check the year (silently in their heads) and move on! Considering all the horrible things that go on in today's world, you've GOT to take extra security measures as a woman. - Prices: Probably a bit higher than you'd expect...I only noticed this because our waitress Christine kept bringing up the prices lol...and to her I say, "PLEASE realize I'm on a date so that information does not in anyway, interest me....I know how to read AND my date's paying in the end of course." Alas, I was thinking I might come back to try the dim sum but I just got so turned off from doing so in writing this review...

Yelp
This was my second time at this restaurant. We enjoyed our dinner. Food and service were great. Food was kind of pricey, but it's what you would expect at casinos.
