Nestled in the heart of the Bay, this local Black-owned coffee roaster serves up organic brews in a vibrant space with a friendly vibe and unique flavors.
"On a warehouse-lined stretch of Fruitvale sits the headquarters of Red Bay Coffee, Oakland’s black-owned company with a social justice ethos. The space is open, airy, and industrial, with lots of places to sit and work. In the evenings and on weekends, it often transforms into a lively community events space. Go for unique offerings like the charcoal or candied yam lattes." - Dianne de Guzman, Eater Staff
"Black Coffee Tote ($22) Red Bay Coffee is one of our favorite coffee roasters in Oakland. We love everything about them, from their Slow Burn and Carver’s Dream coffee blends to their merch. If you love them too, show it with this Black Coffee tote." - julia chen 1
"One of Red Bay Coffee’s most unique drinks - the vanilla charcoal latte - is a must-order. It’s creamy, slightly sweet, and delicious hot or iced. Their regular iced latte and Vietnamese iced coffee are also excellent if you need a caffeine boost before your third power-walk around the lake. You can walk up to order from their van (usually parked around Lake Merritt), their coffee box on Broadway, or their spacious Fruitvale roastery." - julia chen 1, lani conway
"Oakland-based mobile plant shop Planterday will be popping up outside of Red Bay Coffee’s Fruitvale Public Roastery on Saturday, 8am-12pm. So kick off your Juneteenth festivities with a charcoal latte and some new plants. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation
