I have never felt so disrespected by a restaurant in my life. Tonight, during the Festival of Lights, downtown was incredibly busy. As someone who has had a heart transplant and lives with several chronic conditions, I am highly immunosuppressed and often end up in the hospital each year. We noticed there were several tables outside, so my husband went in to ask if we could order food and sit there. He was told it was fine. While he took our order, my daughter and I tried to find a place to sit outside.
Suddenly, a man came out, yelling at me and insisting that we couldn't sit there. I tried to explain our situation, but he just continued to scream at me, saying it was the same for everyone. I pointed out that it wasn't the same for all customers--if I go inside a crowded restaurant during the holiday season, there's a high chance I could get sick and end up in the hospital. There were literally no customers at the tables outside, but he insisted they were reserved for people who wanted to come out and look.
I reminded him that we were customers trying to order food, but my words fell on deaf ears. I will never return to that restaurant, and I will be sure to share my experience with my friends in the Springs. The yelling was so excessive that it brought me to tears, and we ended up leaving the entire event to go home. Thank you, Red Gravy, for failing to accommodate someone with serious medical conditions and for making me feel like I don't belong in this world.
