I know that negatively reviewing something given to you for free is not the right thing to do. My mother and father didn't raise me in a barn after all. Under normal circumstances, I would never think to denigrate anything "given" to me, no matter how bad it was. But in this case, I will make an exception for the following reasons. First, The Las Vegas Tropicana Hotel never advised me they would charge in addition to an existing hold on my credit card. Isn't that why there's a hold on my credit card, to begin with? The Tropicana charged $200.00 in separate and additional charges for the food given to me for free. I was even under the allotted free amount that they compted me. If I had gone over what was "given," I would completely understand, and they would be free to keep the credit card "hold" money to cover the overage. But to add it to the existing hold is reprehensible, and for someone that may not have a high credit line as I do, it could have a devastating impact. Secondly, with credit card holds, we all know and understand how Las Vegas hotels now operate. And it's not just the Tropicana Hotel; it's pretty much all of them except the classier establishments like the Wynn, Waldorf, Veer, and a few others. Are you kidding me by adding charges to existing charges that many customers may never notice? How low can these hotels now go?
Had The Tropicana not pulled this despicable move by charging my credit card, and no matter how bad Robert Irvine's Public House and Red Lotus Asian Kitchen Restaurant food was, I would never review it negatively. But they did, and I will.
I want my money back for the Pepto Bismol since I didn't pay for the food. I would have demanded my money back and the doctor's charges if I had spent money on the sandwiches, pizza, and salad ordered last night. The two small pizzas tasted like imitation cheese and pepperoni on cardboard. Utterly disgusting, quite frankly. The Rubin sandwich was so salty and dry that I had to down 40 plus ounces of water last night. And the salad was something I could have bought at any Seven Eleven for $5.99, and that would have tasted at least as good as the $30.00 they charged.
The food at the Red Lotus Asian Kitchen Restaurant was (hard to believe) worse than at Robert Irvine's Public House. We had a small bowl of shrimp noodles which was the worst I've ever had, and I've had some awful Chinese noodles in my life. The Mongolian beef (also in a small plastic bowl) was even saltier than the Rubin sandwich. And a few bottles of tea. The Tropicana Hotel charged the outrageous amount of $100.00 for these items. Are you kidding me?
I could go on and upload a few god-awful pictures of the food mentioned above, but I will be merciful, unlike The Tropicana, and not overdo it. Bona petite if you dare.
