Houston’s Best Ube Desserts - Eater Houston

"Red Ribbon Bakery was born from a home baker’s hobby in the Philippines and is now a premier destination for ube desserts across the United States. Houston is home to one of its many locations, allowing locals to order decadences like the ube overload cake, a bright purple chiffon cake layered with ube halaya; an ube coconut roll dusted with coconut flakes; or a cheese-topped ube ensaimada." - Megha McSwain

They have an amazing chocolate classic cake 😋, pretty sure am going to order birthday cakes from Red, the one and only in HOUSTON city! Thanks Mary for your kindness and great assistance 🥰.

Google
I come here mainly for chocolate cakes bcause it is amazing! I recommend the moist choco slice and butter mamon. Another fave are the caramal and mango bars. My only wish is that they sell sans Rival by the slice! Over all very good chocolate cakes! Tastes like home!

Beware with the expiration date,On September 4th 2024 I bought two spanish bread (two days past expiration date)and sliced of ube cake(which was dry taste like old stock).I would rather buy from the other local bakery than wasting my money here.

Google
Excellent bakery for Filipino treats! I love everything I've had from here, especially the ube overload cake! Their service is fast and friendly.

Google
I try not to let other reviews bias my own but yes employees seem cold and distant and prefer to keep talking to a minimum. I am also like that but customer service should not. I knew what I wanted before I walked in and got it. Anyway, everybody should skip the pastries and bread products and pick up a Sans Rival cake. It is the best cake I've ever had and I typically dislike them.

Google
My son needed to pick up some baked goods for some kind of function where his wife worked and he introduced me to this Filipino bakery. He picked up a few dozen plain and mocha mamons. Think of these as a flatter broader cupcake and they taste similar to sponge cake. I got me one of the mocha mamon cupcakes and it was very tasty. They have cakes and empanadas and i may need to further educate myself on Filipino sweets.

Google
PLS DON'T BUY HALO.HALO HERE... INSTEAD OF UBE ICE CREAM ON TOP AS ADVERTISED...THEY PUT A MANGO PORRIDGE LIKE A LEFTOVER MANGO CAKE That's NOT BEEN SOLD. AND TASTE SEEMS OLD LIKE ITS BEEN PRE.PREP A WEEK AGO. THE INGREDIENTS NOT A GOOD SELECTION EITHER. PLS STOP SELLING HALO HALO IF U CANT MAKE IT RIGHT!!

Google
Oh my, red ribbon bake shop. There isn't any Philippino food near our home so when we are close to this place in Houston we stock up on stuff that helps us grow! See the video cuz Jollibee, red ribbon, maxs all right here.

Yelp
I first got introduced to Red Ribbon because I work in a hospital. IYKYK! There is never a party or potluck where we don't have something from Red Ribbon. Red Ribbon Bakeshop is a well known, Filipino bakery chain. This location is located in a shopping strip shared with other Filipino food chains. Since parking is shared with other restaurants, it can get busy at peak times like on weekends. Inside, this place is small. There are a few little tables off to one side, but if a couple of customers come in, you will have people all up in your personal space while trying to eat. Off to the other side you have your dessert display, along with a section of prepackaged baked goods as well. Customer service here on my few visits has always been pretty no nonsense, straight business. Do not expect any pleasantries or suggestions. I'm sure they will answer questions if asked. I have only had sweet items from here. They have different flavored round cakes and rolls. They are mostly of the chocolate and fruity variety. One of the favorites here is the Ube cakes. What is Ube you ask? It is a purple yam that they make lots of desserts out of. I personally prefer it over a traditional sweet potato. I've had the ube cakes, lemon rolls, mango rolls and chocolate rolls. In my opinion, they all have great flavor, but they have always been on the dry side to me. People love it when I bring it to gatherings though. They also have savory items like empanadas, pancit and soups. I have yet to try it, but I hear mixed reviews on them. If you are thirsty, they have different types of lattes and halo-halo. I have purchased some of the pre-packaged baked goods and they pair well with a cup of coffee. Overall, I find myself coming back here because people tend to like it when I bring it to gatherings. It's not to my personal liking so much, but it gets the job done.

Yelp
I went here specifically for empanadas. And as other reviewers stated. The service is just blah. The guy who waited on me definitely didn't want to be there. The empanadas were 4.00 which I think is pricy for the amount of bread to meat in it. The cakes in the display looked pretty good. But they were all petty pricy as well.

Yelp
Located in the heart of the Filipino square on Main, Red Ribbon is likely the most renowned Filipino bakery chain in the world. Being next to NRG stadium and a stone's throw away from the Medical Center makes this a very central location. It also doesn't hurt being next to some other big time names (#1), making the franchise circle complete. Red Ribbon is incredibly small. It's so small that there's no seating and more than four people would make this place feel crowded. There can be a line during the evening hours and it's definitely packed on the weekends. This all feels especially surprising, seeing as they're not even the most hyped Filipino bakery in the lot. (#2) I appreciate the fact that orders can be placed online. The staff isn't exactly diligent about the wait time and they are particularly slow even when there are lines. Parking isn't an issue but it can be on Sundays. I'm usually here for their ube flavored cakes. They make for a nice occasion -based treat and our light and flavor and very pretty in color. I don't love their empanadas or much of their hot foods. Availability is limited so I always try to call ahead of time or place an order online at least a day in advance. Perusing their lineup of pastries is only good for folks on the go. They do accept credit cards. Prices are a little high but not impossible given our current times. Overall, they're a good option for Filipino baked goods and for anyone who loves the Red Ribbon brand. ___________ (#1) Jollibee and Max's. (#2) That would be The Baker's Son by Valero (https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-bakers-son-by-valerios-houston)

Yelp
Came here to buy some halohalo and some desserts. As always, this place is crazy expensive. The halohalo was super disappointing and not even close to what I'm used to. I also ordered a slice of the flan ube cake. The cake part was dry and the flan was stiff and not sweet enough. Slice of cake was $5 and not even worth it. The halohalo was definitely not worth it. The parking lot is huge and shared with other establishments. Staff are friendly. The shop is a bit small, but they have a lot of goodies. Question is, is it any good?

Yelp
If you're looking for a variety of pastries, this is your place. The have sponge cakes, specialty cakes, Ube pastries. You can order online and pick up easily. If I lived closer I will be visiting more often.

Yelp
05/27/23- Saturday We don't have Red Ribbon store in Dallas. After visiting the NASA Space Center, we went to this store. So many customers around within different establishments, it's hard to find a parking spot. We love the Halo Halo...

Yelp
The service is terrible. I have ordered ahead multiple times, and my order was never made on time. I had always had to wait additional 30 to 40 minutes for a prepaid order online. At first I thought it would be a one time thing, but after about 4 times? And when telling management about waiting, it's just a college student doing nothing about the wait time. I asked why an order that was prepaid and placed 3 hours in advance, they don't make until you get there so what is the point of picking a pick up time? They had no answer and no apologies. Thank goodness now there is a baker's son, they will probably shut down red ribbon. Their service is 100% better

Yelp
I grew up on Goldilocks and never stepped foot in a red ribbon bake shop back home but this is the only bake shop around me so I settled for this. I've been here a few times, place is teeny tiny with just one table and two chairs so it gets pretty packed in there. Selections are limited but they will do if you're just looking for basic mamon. I never had any issue with the service, everyone is always nice, friendly and courteous. The halo halo could have more of a finer type of ice but they put enough toppings and the mango ice cream tasted good. The ube overload I got recently was just meh and dry but I've had their cakes before and it was moist and great. Ube Mamon taste just like a regular mamon (sponge cake) and cheesy ensaymada is just plain bread with cheese, not the typical ensaymada. Would I go back? Maybe if I'm around the area..

Yelp
Ive always loved red ribbon until today. Walked in to pick up an online order I made. Ordered the choco mocha crunch and the dude at the counter gave it to us with out the caramel topping and I asked if we could swap it with a different cake. Then he said if you can wait 3 or 4 minutes he could have some out, thinking he would put it on the cake he said no and he would just place it in a baggie. Honestly disappointed and kinda pissed.

Yelp
I ordered a celebration mocha cake, a chocolate mousse cake, and a dozen ensaimada (cheesy) for my mom's birthday party, and ALL THREE were huge hits! I had a coffee and dessert bar set up for her and her friends, which included an assortment of chocolates and cookies in addition to the baked goods from Red Ribbon. Everyone (not just the Filipinos, but everyone) kept asking where I got it all. Even days after the party, people were asking where it came from. We were commenting on how this was the first time every crumb of dessert was GONE. All of it was eaten, and some of us didn't even get to try any :( Next time, I will order more. There will definitely be a next time!

Concordia D.

Yelp
Wondering why can't deliver sans rival? It was on the menu to order but not to deliver... there's no option to order for delivery. And the delivery location is only 25 mins away :(

Yelp
My Tita owns her own Filipino bakery back in NJ, and when coming to Red Ribbon it just makes me feel so nostalgic! I only had their taisan and choco slice, but it was so moist, delicious, & not obnoxiously sweet. My sister had the Ensenada and she thoroughly enjoyed it to the point we ate our dessert in a matter of seconds. Definitely would love to come back when I'm in Houston again.

Yelp
Love the cakes, pandesal, palabok, and mamons, but they need new cakes and pastries. Also, a lot of their entrees on their menu are not available. We love to go here, but we always prepare ourselves to be somewhat disappointed because they might not have what we want; it could be out of stock or discontinued. Great cakes and my kids love their ube and mango cakes, palabok, and pandesal.

Yelp
Red Ribbon is the place if you want to find some good Ensaymadas, something I grew up eating alot. Ensaymada is a soft, sweet dough pastry covered with butter and sugar (somr topped with grated cheese). It brings out the Filipino in me, well cause I am one. This bakeshop carries many variations of Ensaymadas. I highly recommend the Ube and Cheese Ensaymada. They also Mamon. Mamon is basically like a Filipino version of a Pound Cake. I love eating Ensaymada or Mamon with my hot coffee. They go well together for me like Jay Z & Beyonce. Additionally, they also serve Arroz Caldo (Filipino Chicken Rice Porridge). It was so good. And now I've learned that they ship their pastries now. Order online, click and pay and the goods comes to you, nice and fresh. I think I am in great trouble.

Yelp
Tiny little shop adjacent to the Jollibee, but def one of the best Red Ribbons that I've been to. The beef empanadas are piping hot and always feel like they came out fresh of the oven. It's a pretty small place and during Covid only 3 people at a time are allowed in but the empanadas and halo halo are worth the wait. If there's any left, check out the case and make sure to grab some ensaimadas as well, they're nice and cheesy and a pretty healthy size.

Yelp
This is an awesome bakery right next to the original Jolibees, and no trip is complete without stopping here. The butter mamon is a soft sponge cake that's light and melts in your mouth, for the ube fans the ube flavored Mamon is next level. The cakes by the slices will drain any willpower you had left, the mango cake and ube goodness goodness. The star is the Brazo de Mercedes light lemon flavor is great for all occasions, especially for people like myself who will invent a holiday just for a reason to eat. You will not be disappointed here.

Yelp
This place is a great quick-stop for popular Filipino bakery items. They offer cakes (some by the slice), original and flavored mamon, ensatmada, pan de sal... My favorite are the delicious empanadas (Filipino meat pies) served hot & fresh. While Red Ribbon is a franchise/chain, this is the only location in Houston (in the Medical Center, close to NRG). I don't live in the area, but I make an effort to stop by here once in a while. And when I do, I load up with boxes & bags filled with goodies!

Yelp
I went here months ago and never got around to reviewing. It sits in a mall with other Philippino type stores and restaurants..including the infamous Jollibee. I tried a variety of pastries from here but it was so long ago that I no longer recall what exactly I got. But I do remember they were cheap and quite good. Definitely not on the level of some of the bakeries in Bellairr (i.e six ping or parisian) but still very solid. Final grade; B I'd return.

Yelp
I love a good Filipino bakery and what's more....Filipino food in general. A lot of dishes remind me of Caribbean food or at least the same ingredients are used but prepared a little differently. Like the chicken adobo dish we call brown stewed chicken only our is spicier. I digress..... My favorite Filipino baked item is and will always be butter pan de sal. That translates to bread of the salt or salt bread from the Spanish influence on the language. The bread is sweet though. Their butter pan de sal is so good! It is a small butter bun that is slightly sweet topped with butter bread crumbs. If you are starving you can eat it right out of the bag (usually 12 but they sell it 15 per bag but they are smaller than traditional pan de sal) but I promise you that if you pop one or two in the oven and let it be warm in the middle and slightly crusty on top. OMG, so delicious that way! I was raised on this delicious treat and it will always be my fave! They also have a delicious moist chocolate cake that is pretty good.

Yelp
I had no idea where Red Ribbon Bakeshop was until my Filipino foodie friends pointed it out it's at the "Pinoy Corner" as he called this strip mall made of many well-known Filipino restaurants and shops. This tiny shop has tiny footprint with only one tiny table for two to sit. As Sharde A. said everything is dry. I suspect everything came from somewhere else. I happened to like ube - purple sweet potato. So I bought a Ube Mamon (sponge cake). I took a bite and said to myself, "Mmm... (cough cough) this cake tastes so purple." There was no taste but just the color was deep purple. It stained my teeth. So, I would avoid ube anything. I kind of like moist chocolate cake, except a little too small for the price. Empanada was freshly made. I have tried them all. The meats are well minced and mixed with the rest of vegetables. The crust was savory. Just a little pricey: $2.39 (pork), $2.69 (chicken) and $2.99 (beef). I also tried ensaymada. It reminds me of ensamada from my Hawaii days. These are well-balanced sweet buns with fruity sweets inside and sugary coating outside. I would love to try all flavors. They're visually pleasing. I happened to find a seat at the tiny table and ordered Arroz Caldo (rice porridge). I wasn't aware of promotional pricing when I buy a chicken empanada. Thanks to the lovely cashier took her time to adjust the price.

Yelp
I was thinking about buying some " Christmas lunch ' at Jolibee. I saw a Red Ribbon. I changed my plan. I was here on December 23rd, 2020 around 11 am. I ordered Arroz Caldo and Chicken empanada. Both of them were awesome. I loved it! It was a relatively warm day. The Arroz Caldo was too hot for me. The Philippines is well known for The ' Bar-Months' which celebrate Christmas from September to December. Chrismas can make people around the world happy! Me too. It is not snowing in the Philipinnes. But Santa Clause can swim to the islands! LOL. Maligayan Pasko! Merry Chrismas!

Yelp
Red Ribbon is a chained Bakeshop started in Philippine. Ube everything. They also have Philippine Empanada which are very good and feeling. You can't go wrong anything there is all delicious and worth the money.

Yelp
It's sad cause it's an hour drive for me and I ordered the largest size palabok plate and extra sauce on the side. It has never failed that in all locations even the one in San Jose, Ca there's never enough sauce compared to the amount of noodles there is. So, the palabok ends up dry and not tasting anything. So, I ordered extra sauce on the side to compensate for this. The sauce they gave me wasn't even enough for one serving let alone the huge platter I ordered. I hope corporate could see this and reevaluate how much sauce needs to be in each serving. There needs to be enough of it so that when we mix it up most of the noodles should be covered. It was just the top layer and everything else was just plain white noodles. At this point I feel like my money was wasted. My family don't want it cause there's not enough sauce. I was too in a rush to look what they had given me. So please please put enough sauce on your palabok. Other than that I've always loved their mamon in which I bought the variety pack.

Yelp
So it was my first time knew and tried this little and cute bakeshop after a Filipino friend recommended it. I am impressed that they use the purple color from purple yam as an ingredient for most of the cake. I tried Ube mamon, the taste was ok since I expected something more unique and special besides the color (3/5). I also expected something more in my Palabok, it was plain to me somehow. So I think I will try that dish somewhere else to see the difference. (2.5/5) I love their beef empanada, very flavory and fresh, crunchy and soft combine (4.5/5). I will definitely try their chicken and pork ones next time. The Arroz Caldo (rice porridge) is also my favorite. Its taste is great and very comfort. I put some chilli in to make it even greater! (4/5). I'll order it again! Will be back!

Yelp
I frequently visit this bakery every time I crave for their cakes and sweets. And for some reason, every single time, doesn't matter who the teller is, not one of them has the friendly attitude or just a friendly face. Wonder what's up with their culture in this store? Minus one star for that.

Yelp
During the middle of covid I came here to get a cake for my boyfriend's birthday. I pointed to the Mocha Crumble Crunch. The younger girl working the counter goes and gets it from the refrigerator and gets ready to pack it for me. All of a sudden an older lady comes out, looks at the new box and whispers something to her. The girl then puts the new box back in the fridge and goes over to get the cake that you can tell had been sitting out all day. The fridge was even turned off. (It was a few days after Christmas in the late evening so I guess they were getting ready to close.) I'm in disbelief and told them I want the one from the fridge. The older lady then makes up an excuse and tells me the new one won't have the crumbles on top and that I should get the one that's been out. We go back and forth for a few seconds, but in the end I refused and with much attitude she takes it out of the fridge again. I'm sorry but I am paying FULL price for a product you advertised, I shouldn't have been penalized cause I didn't want to buy your older stuff. I know for a fact she was trying to get rid of it just from her demeanor. I would have walked out but I had already paid and it was too late to go anywhere else. Super disappointed if this is how they run their business behind closed doors. I have bought mamon here before and it has gonna bad almost immediately the next day. Which now makes sense. I'm pretty sure they rotate their old stuff to the next day until it is sold in order to not lose any profit. It makes me question what is fresh. I will not be returning to this place.

Richa N.

Yelp
Do not order online food got expired they use a cheap delivery that will arrive 6days later and the food cannot be eaten! Just now I got the package and it was expired yesterday this is a scam.

Yelp
Cake was ok I drove far from home just to go get it for my daughters birthday,it wasn't worth it!

Yelp
I ordered a cake for pick up at 5:45pm and let them know I would be there in an hour or so but they failed to let me know they updated their hours and closed at 7pm now instead of 8pm. (Their hours have not been updated on any other platform) I got there exactly at 7:02pm and the person already locked the door, looked straight at me then proceeded to go to the back and turn off the lights. I understand they are closed but I let them know in advance that I was coming, so I find this to be poor customer service.

Yelp
My husband bought two bags of mamon, one with butter and the other one with cheese. That was last Dec.12,2019. The butter mamon is expiring 13dec. The cheese mamon is expiring 19dec. Husband being a man didn't check to ask for a later exp. date bread. Inside each package has 6 mamon. Couple of butter mamon has MOLD on it. Next time, don't sell anything that's expiring in 24 hours as these are perishable items. Some people may think it's ok. Then sell it at 75 pct discount with full disclosure. I gave two stars because cheese mamon was in perfect condition and it's really good.

Yelp
This bakery is next to Jolibee where they sell empanadas, sponge cake and mousse cakes. Bought an ube mousse cake and ube sponge cake. Had to say the mousse cake tasted too moist as there's some liquid at the bottom of the container. Couldn't really taste ube and the artificial coloring is quite vibrant. Was concerned it would stain my teeth as I had whitening within the week. The sponge cake was ok, kinda dry and lack of favor. Probably won't return.

James C.

Yelp
I go here every time I'm in Houston. Their empanadas are perfect. The sweet goods I'm not such a fan of, but I don't generally like cake overall.

Yelp
Me and my friend stopped by this place after touring the Natural Museum of Natural Science. We both ordered a slice of Ube overload cake and a slice of chocolate indulgence cake. Red Ribbon also serves meals too. I'd like to try their rice porridge, empanadas and the Halo-Halo sometime. The location is NOT the best. They do have a dine in area, but it's so small and cramped inside, it's NOT ideal for big parties. You can't get a slice of ANY cake you want. They only offer a minimum of cake slices and whatever is the "cake slice of the day". Red Ribbon ships out their pastries and cakes across the U.S. Flavors and items differ in other store locations. You can get one of their cakes decorated for special occasions, but they don't deliver, it's only for pickup. The employees had great service, but they could've been more sociable. When I heard there was a bakeshop that actually serves Ube cake, I was so ecstatic! Ube is really popular right now in cake form. I'm an otaku, so since it originated from Asian culture, I wanted to try it so badly. People kept saying Ube cake is wonderful. Since I've already tried Ube in frozen yogurt and in tapioca milk tea, I believed that the cake would be much better. Me and my friend were utterly disappointed. The cake was moist, the Ube flavor came through and the frosting was great, but the texture was like sponge cake and crumbly. We both DON'T like sponge cake. Ube DOESN'T belong in sponge cake! We were expecting great Ube flavor in each bite of a moist, light and fluffy cake. The chocolate indulgence cake was wonderful though. Unlike the Ube cake, this cake WAS moist, light and fluffy. The caramel center wasn't gooey, sticky or overly sweet. It had just the right amount of chocolate in the cake and frosting. I saw so many more cakes I wanted to try. I'd still recommend Red Ribbon Bakeshop to everyone I know.

Yelp
I frequent Red Ribbon for the chicken empanada and mamon. However the sans rival I bought last week Friday, November 20, 2020 was nasty. It was not fresh, it was "gooey" and quality, texture and taste were sub par. Never will I buy the sans rival.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this little gem when eating at Jollibee and I am so happy that I did! Red Ribbon is a Filipino bakery. I LOVE their moist choco slice! Imagine the most moist chocolate cake you have ever eaten with a huge chocolate flavor. They come individually packaged. You can't eat one because you will eat many! So buy the big package that comes with 6-8 slices! It will be the best decision you ever made. They have other baked goods, but the chocolate slice has me hooked that i have not given other goods a try. They also have catering for savory foods and dishes!

Yelp
Good thing they have a delicious ube cake and butter mamons because that's what keeps me coming back. I've been to the Red Ribbon location in NYC multiple times and somehow it is much better. The convenience of having three Filipino places next to each other is a good thing. This bakeshop is so small. There is only one table and three chairs inside and no waste receptacle. The bread is plenty and case is filled with lots of cakes. I remember the mango cake being super fragrant and refreshingly sweet but this time my slice was boring with no actual distinguished mango flavor and the cream was not fresh tasting. On the other hand, the ube cake slice was delicious, boasting notes of yam. The cream was also better on this one. The cashier was nice and service was quick. I'm just sad that there's really no space to sit down and enjoy the goods. The table was also unclean when I found it. If I had ordered the hot food items I would've wanted to taste the best of it immediately instead of driving it all the way back home. Another thing, there were no slices of the mocha or black forest cake in the case, only whole cakes. I don't see it as a slice on the menu or anything (am I missing something)? It would be nice to know if slices for those cakes were also an option...maybe I'll just ask next time. I only wish this place was closer or had more tables so that we can eat then buy the bread to go.

Yelp
My mum had been wanting me to try the Mango Cake for a time now, so on my birthday we headed over to this place. All of her nurse friends had been telling her about how good the cakes at this bakery is. The Mango cake was OK--literally it had the most lightest taste to it. It didn't enough mango in it. Oh and the ube (purple yam) cake didn't even have a taste at all. It was bland. The lady who was the cashier was clueless about everything. She didn't understand English either. She responded with an "I don't know" for every question we asked her regarding the cakes that they had. She had no idea about how the mango cake taste, what the ube cake was, or about how much the cake was. It was really strange..honestly I was thinking "you work here, you are Filipino, and you have no idea about anything. How frustrating!" The bakery is cute with the modern decor and bright colors. (2 stars for the unique Mango cake and a star for the decor.)

Yelp
Finally got to grab some goodies from here as it is also conveniently located next to Jollibee's. I decided to try out the butter mamon (a butter sponge cake) since it was highly recommended. I had initially thought it would be baked fresh and out, but instead, it was already pre-packaged. Grabbed one and while I was standing in line to pay a lady had bought tons of empanadas. Why not, I got one to try also. Then cashier lured me into trying a slice of their best well known dessert in there, the mango cake. I then realized I'm easily suckered into food! To me, the best item surprisingly turned out to be the spicy beef empanada. The crust was kind of sweet (which I like), but it was freshly made and the flavors of the beef and stuffing inside really came together. I would definitely go back and get one again. As for the mango cake, it was $2 a slice (you can also get a bigger whole cake for a party for $20 w/ a 20% discount right now!) They also sell other flavors, such as, ube cake which is a purple yam and black forest cakes. The cake was moist and soft, but it didn't have as much mango inside as I thought it would and had a lot of cream. I actually prefer some of the Asian bakeries w/ more fresh mangoes. The butter mamon had a good soft texture, but it really didn't stick out to me when compared to some other sponge cakes I've had.

Yelp
After eating at Jollibee from next door, we decided to finish off dessert here. We only tried the ube bun with cheese which was delicious. So good that in our first bite, we accidentally ate the wrapper underneat. It still tasted good. The bun is super soft and filled with ube. I wish they had more cake slices to pick from, but there was none. The empanadas which we did not expect to see were the best thing. It was better than the food at jollibee. The chicken and beef were both great choices. This place def saved our Filipino food experience because Jollibee was awful.

Yelp
Their prices rises faster than Trump's Tarrif to China. And it's not 15% but mostly -/+ 30%. The actual roll cakes are 20% smaller than display. Their palabok is guaranteed hot, microwaved in the cheap plastic container. This place is only good for nostalgic feeling for Filipinos. Beside that..if ur looking for best buck for u wallet and ur health conscious , this is not the place to go. Taste are just ok.

Yelp
Better make sure to check their store hours, they change them at a drop of a hat. I would like to buy their goods but because their hours change week to week I don't bother stopping by after work since I come from the medical center.

Yelp
Horrible service! Well more like no service. Got here in the morning and there was no one behind the counter. When the worker from the back cames to the front, she was giving me a attitude like I interrupted her break! No sorry what I get you. She just stared at me when she was the cashier so I grab the bread near to me. Now she tells me I can't grab it, that she will get it. Would have been nice to tell me that first. Will not be back here again!

Yelp
When I think bakery, I think local and fresh-- things that make me drool the moment I open the door and dream of dancing cookies at night. The moment my sister and I walked in, I could tell the little excited kid inside her died a bit (sorry, Connie! D:). The majority of these breads seemed to have been shipped in from somewhere (sealed packages, like the ones around shelf-stable products) and were cold / refrigerated. Don't be fooled by that radioactive purple ube bread; if I closed my eyes, I could barely tell it was purple yam. Nice little mediocre sponge cake though~ ^^' Chicken empanadas are meh, thick floury/doughy shell (but the filling had raisins, yay?). It's an itty bitty store with okay-tasting goodies if you want to stop by, but definitely not worth a special trip! Friendly workers though :D

Yelp
I'm a nurse in the med center and through work have become increasingly familiar with the Filipino culture and foods. My Filipino friends/coworkers introduced me to this bakery and there's no going back now. Friendly professional service, this place looks clean and is very well managed. I am hooked on the mamon cakes!!! For those who don't know a mamon is a Filipino version of sponge cake. Very soft and tasty...my favorite is the butter and mocha flavors!!!

Yelp
After eating at Jolibee I stopped by to check out Red Ribbon. Apparently this is what EVERYONE does as I saw many other Jolibee diners, buying bags of mamons, cakes, and empanadas. I followed suit and bought a slice of Ube Overload, Ube Mamon, Butter Mamon, and a beef empanada to try out. The butter mamon reminded me of a fluffy version of a Sara Lee pound cake, which is nice. Since I'm already an ube fan I enjoyed the cake and mamon much more than any of the other baked goods. Lastly the empanada...aka meaty Pop-Tart . I wasn't feeling it at all. The stuffing is a gravy-like which gave me the feeling of eating canned dog food. All in all it was fun to try out a few of their items especially the ube flavored ones. However if you want an after meal treat, head over to Pugon de Manilla instead.

Yelp
WOW for the moist ube cake. It was so moist and so ube tasting. It wasn't so bad at $25 for the whole cake since it is so hard to find good ube cake. Their mamons were very good also. We wish there was a Red Ribbon in our of town.

Yelp
I stopped in Red Ribbon to check it out. It's located right next to Jollibee. This shopping center has become a little Filipino center. When you walk in you will see racks full of prepackaged breads. People working the counter are nice. Ask them what is popular and they will tell you. I tried the cheese sweet bun in a package. Soft bread and not too sweet. Not sure what I was expecting but cheese didn't really taste like much. Overall, this bakery is not bad. I wouldn't make a special trip for it, but if I'm eating Jollibee and want something sweet afterwards, I'll give them another try.
