We were debating... Red Robin, or Chick-fil-A. We figured RR was the safe choice, but I think we guessed wrong. This was by far the most disappointing experience we've had at any RR.
The biggest letdown for me was my $14 entree, the "Sear-ious Salmon", shown in the photo (this is literally all of the food that was on the plate). The salmon was dry and slightly over-cooked, and not even the lemon wedges could save it. The "steamed" broccoli likely had been steamed at some point in the process, but after sitting under a warmer for 20 minutes, any moisture had evaporated. I tried to revive it with lemon, too; but with limited success.
The menu had listed a third item, some "bruschetta salsa", so I was expecting more on the plate. When I asked about it, they told me the menus were new, and this wasn't available yet. They offered to bring another kind of salsa, but I declined -- I had expected something with the term "bruschetta" in it to include crostini, or some kind of toasted bread, and not just a side of salsa.
My son felt his bacon cheeseburger and fries were up to par with typical RR expectations, but my daughter was disappointed with her crispy chicken sandwich. The patty was pounded so thin that the breading/batter was twice as thick as the meat itself. It was as if they had driven across town to a MacDonald's and brought back a McChicken for us.
Along with the disappointing food, the service was painfully slow. We arrived at 11:40 am, and the dining room was eerily empty; yet it took a full hour before we could get out of there.
Needless to say, we will skip this RR when in Clackamas.
The following pertains to all Red Robin locations: The "Ziosk" tabletop tablets have to be the dumbest idea to ever be introduced to sit-down dining. They take up valuable real estate on the table, and unless you want to pay to play their games, they are completely useless. I was going to try and pay our bill with the one on this visit, but the server said it wasn't working right, so I just handed her my card. I can recall one RR visit where we were actually able to pay using the Ziosk -- and that's out of 10-15 visits since their introduction. I don't know how much RR has invested in these paper-weights, but I think it's time to cut their losses and can them all.
