Google
This place is wonderful. It is the most authentic Cambodian food I’ve found in the U.S. As someone who regularly travels to Cambodia, I love Khmer food and culture. And this place is exactly that, authentic Khmer food and culture. The food is delicious and there is so much variety. I highly highly recommend the beef loc lac, so delicious (maybe even a little more than the ones I’ve had in Phnom Penh). I love Cambodia town and I would say Red Rose is the heart of it. Thank you for the great meal and service.

Google
Red Rose is my favorite Cambodian spot in Lowell. Plenty of authentic Cambodian plates with reasonable prices. Portions are always good and service is quick. The takeout quality is equally as good as the dine-in experience. There’s a parking lot and restaurant accepts card and cash payments. First picture is a small bowl of shrimp and beef kathew (noodle soup) and second picture is a small bowl of beef and meatball kathew (noodle soup). Sriracha and hoisin sauce added to both bowls — condiments are on the table so you can add to your own liking.

I do like the Special Noodle Soup. The small size is plenty for a hungry person. A Special cheers to the waitresses and kitchen for the continuous great work they do to provide great food to us custmers.

Delicious Cambodian cuisine, excellent flavors and portion sizes. Drinks were excellent (try the green bean drink!) and staff were very kind. Can't wait to head back and try more of the menu next time im in Lowell. 😁

I have been trying to get to the Red Rose since it was a James Beard Award semi finalist in 2023 for its Khmer cuisine. I was not disappointed and recommend you try this treasure. The Long family has made their restaurant a center of the Lowell community since they opened in 2012. The food was a revelation We had Spring Roll which was the freshest I have tasted. The chicken pad Thai was also delicious, My son ordered the beef loc lac with fried rice definitely would recommend it as a gentle entry to strangers. Twice cooked beef crispy! I ordered the Phnom Penh Special Noodle Soup. The stock was a rich pork broth with shrimp squid and thinly sliced liver. I have to say I might have not ordered it if I had known. Needless to say I would have been wrong. The liver was gently cooked in the broth and contributed to the whole. I was expecting pho and was wrong again! The Chinese wheat noodles were another pleasant surprise Finally our hot chicken wings arrived. Spicing was the most heat of any of our dishes but just right. Heat with a depth and complexity that was cooled down by the Cambodian coffee. The portions were generous (we all brought home leftover) prices were very reasonable for the care in preparation Definitely worth a visit if you appreciate carefully prepared and spiced food. Staff was extremely solicitous. (Recommending we move to a larger table to share our dishes and heating the chop sticks and silverware in a pitcher of hot water a new experience but one I will have to try at home)

Google
My uncle took us here for breakfast before our flight back home to long beach. Long Beach had the highest population of cambodians outside of cambodian. Lowell being the 2nd highest. We have so many good cambodian restaurants in long Beach. I was skeptical on how good this place would be but it was very delicious. I ordered the special mee katang or special chow fun. My youngest brother got the special lowt cha. My other brother got the phnom Penh noodle soup for him and his son to share. You can see how good it was from my nephews reaction. He wasn't eating well but really enjoyed the noodles. My mee katang was good but not the best I had. I highly recommend this place if you are craving cambodian food.

Google
Best chicken lok lak around! We always get it with the special fried rice and an egg on top. The lemon pepper sauce is also AMAZING. Always hits the spot

Google
Delicious food, very friendly staff! The loc lac and noodles were perfect! Will for sure also be coming back for soup!

Yelp
BOMB. No frills, but they have everything you need. They are allergen-friendly and can modify their soups to not include certain meets/to be vegetarian. The server was patient while I asked my questions and has a good memory because she even brought my friend over a free coke (he's a regular and he normally orders this). The order of chicken wings come with a salt, pepper and lime sauce that goes together perfectly with the chicken. BEST chicken wings I've ever had, hands down and no arguments; they come out piping hot, super crispy and juicy.

Yelp
Hole in the wall Cambodian joint at Palin plaza with a surprisingly large space inside. Very casual, menu can be daunting but they have a picture book for those not familiar; it lets you see what looks good and order that way. There are no prices in the picture book but prices in the menu you can ask for. Service isn't attentive but is not rude either; it just takes a little patience, so relax and enjoy. The food is outstanding. Hot Wings. Gargantuan wings with sturdily crunchy bumpy exteriors, extremely juicy interiors, and a sauce that blends sweet and heat better than any similar Southeast Asian style wing. Superb. Deep Fried Pork Bung with Pickled Mustard Greens: An assortment of flavors and textures, and the fact that its intestines might scare you, but it's delicious. Best shared with two or more just in case. Very appealing sauce hinting at sweet, but with savory underneath. Sourness of the greens cuts the richness of the protein. Spicy Quail and Lemongrass: A slightly-pricier and more-than-slightly-better version of the traditional Cambodian chicken with lemongrass. More crunch, more flavor. Onions and jalapeños complement nicely. Delicious and great with rice. Rice with Pork Chop: This is actually a misnomer, because it comes with TWO kinds of pork chops. On the plate are chopped fried pork chop chunks, some with bone, all crisp and shiny with a slightly sweet glaze (balanced by seasoning and marinade). In a bowl is another pork chop dunked in a fragrant, herby broth. This one is more subtle, with shred-apart delicate tenderness. Supporting both are a chili sauce for dipping and a small bowl of pickled vegetables. Beef Lort: Rice noodles, neither thin nor thick, with a little chewiness, with bean sprouts, protein, and a light sauce thrown in, like a lo mein. Beef Loc Lac: I think of these as Cambodian steak tips. They're marinated and grilled beef chunks with a light, slightly sweet glaze on top, a little smaller and sweeter here than elsewhere. Tasty. Green Papaya Salad: I ordered it spicy (you get a choice). Lots of heat, lots of herbs, nuts on top, and lots of delightful funk from fish sauce and fermented shrimp. Flanked by cabbage and fresh herbs. Papaya Salad should be a part of any Thai or Cambodian meal.

Yelp
My parents favorite place to go for pho. It's good location and food is delicious. Service is good

Sara Jieyi T.

Yelp
A friend of mine who lived in Lowell recommended this place. It was my first time having Cambodian food and what I can say, it was fabulous! Hands down 10/10. The beef Loc Lak was great and I enjoyed the special noodle soup and eating it with the fried dough stick. My family also got sweet and sour soup and fried tilapia with tamarind sauce which were delicious as well. Would highly recommend all these dishes! The employee was friendly and happy to answer questions and provide recommendation. I would have to say the prices are a little more expensive than I thought but would still come back again! Food: 10/10 Service: 9/10 Experience: 9/10 Value: 7/10

Yelp
This place looks dingy, but their food are delicious. We tried couple of things from menu and its a success. The music in the restaurant is pretty loud and because its in their language not only we dont understand it, but its also weird

Candee N.

Yelp
If you find a roach IN your food, do not walk, run away from the restaurant! Not only are there likely hundreds of cockroaches in that kitchen, but the kitchen staff and management is ambivalent about the problem. Go to another restaurant where they pay attention to the food being served.

JamiiXO T.

Yelp
I love everything about this place, the food is always flavorful, I love their avocado smoothie, service is great and ambiance is low key.

Channy V.

Yelp
Food was okay, service was quick and friendly and the dining area and seats spacious.

Marni M.

Yelp
Got take out for the long drive back to the North Shore. By the time I got home I totally forgot about it and ended up eating it the next day which is not as fair of a judgement on the quality of the food. I had a small seafood noodle soup which came out to $13 with tip. There were large pieces of squid, imitation crab meat, and fish cakes with the noodles. I do wish there were more fresh herbs included but luckily I had some fresh scallions in my fridge to make up for it. The broth is much sweeter and garlicy compared to the Vietnamese pho. I'm not sure I can say I was wowed with the food and therefore am uncertain if it is worth the drive for me to come back. But the staff were friendly and it was a large space with some parking available out front. If I find myself in the area, I would certainly try them again.

Yelp
AWESOME AUTHENTIC pho soup & other Vietnamese/Cambodian dishes. I've been dining here for the past 20 years and although the atmosphere may not a " 5-star" setting .....but it' is clean. Food IS as authentic as it can be!!! Staff is friendly and service is FAST!! Being 1/2 Thai -I'm a critic when it comes to Asian cuisine and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy delicious food

Joyce L.

Yelp
Good Cambodian food! Good servings and reasonably priced. Looking for something unique and this restaurant fitted the bill! Will return.

June M.

Yelp
Love love, been eating at this restaurant for 4 years now. The quality is always up there! People are extremely nice. Always feeling happy and full after wards

Benjamin J.

Yelp
SEASONED! First time having Cambodian food, and boy was it AMAZING! Loc Lac with rice and a HUGE side of hot wings. Everything is so well seasoned with new flavors (for me) and cooked to perfection. Loc Lac was slightly crispy and juicy, with a peppery (not spicy) sauce for dipping. Chicken wings were very very crispy and very meaty with a sweet and mildly spicy sauce (think sweet chili sauce, but better). Will be going back next time I'm in town for sure!

Peter P.

Yelp
Pricing and portion sizes at this little eatery are good. The chicken broth soup was sweet and not really to my liking.

Sandra H.

Yelp
First thing you need to know is that there are no prices on the menu. You have to ask the cost of each item by pointing to a photo. Even after getting the cost, we were overcharged. Owner claimed we must have also ordered take out. We did not. Bill was adjusted, but still wrong. Rating is based on food, not service. Good hot wings and spring rolls. Will definitely have waiter write down cost of items next time. This practice leads me to believe prices vary depending on clientele.

Kate D.

Yelp
It was absolutely amazing. We had their Red Rose soup, and we were wanting more because it was sooo delicious! The staff were really attentive and kind.

Andres D.

Yelp
Excellent spot for Cambodian food. From the menu, decor, service, and clientele it is clearly an authentic restaurant. Having little experience with the cuisine I asked the server for recommendations and she pointed me to a fried patty appetizer and a house special noodle soup--both excellent. Highly recommended!

Amy O.

Yelp
This is a good Asian restaurant really good pad Thai and fried rice. Their chicken wings don't have much flavor but their hot wings are good

Danny B.

Yelp
"Baby, if you ever make me really mad, just take me here," my girlfriend said. We made a stop here on the way to Portland, and since then, we've been coming back regularly since I haven't found any other place in New England that satisfies my Hu Tieu cravings. Indeed, the Hu Tieu at this place is magical enough to bring peace to all. So what is Hu Tieu? It's a Vietnamese noodle dish with pork broth. However, some places will offer it in a dry form without broth. For those of you more familiar with pho, pho is normally a beef based broth. With Hu Tieu, you get an assortment of seafood toppings such as shrimp, imitation crab meat, and fish balls in addition to your pork. To get an even better experience, ask for the fried dough since it really compliments this dish well. As far as cleanliness and service, the restaurant is ok. Red Rose, I'll be back when I have my next Hu Tieu craving... or if my girlfriend gets mad at me :)

Richard R.

Yelp
The food is great the service is impeccable oh did I mention the food!!! And the setting is quaint

Lisa M.

Yelp
Every time I came here I am never disappointed. Authentic Cambodian Cuisine. Friendly and clean.

Phary S.

Yelp
Quality of food is still good, but the pricing is crazy' two rice dishes just cost me $35 dollars and it wasn't even seafood or anything special. Ordered a beef lol lac with white rice, and grilled chicken with fried rice. I asked if the soup came with it, that would normally come with it, but the waiter said no. Only if you eat dine in, then you would get it for free. If I wanted the soup it would've been an additional $2 more. Crazy. I really hate that they just don't update their prices on their menu.

Chantee L.

Yelp
I literally grew up on food from Red Rose. My childhood was literally living behind the restaurant and my moms would ask me to pick up food from the back entrance straight from the kitchen. Obviously the owners have changed throughout the years and the dishes are altered by the many changing chefs, but what stays consistent is the location, love, and nostalgic of this place. I don't even live in Lowell anymore but every time I visit the family I always pick up food from here to enjoy with them. The many many years growing up in Lowell wouldn't be so special to me if it wasn't for all of the restaurants and establishments that is now known as Cambodian Town. Red Rose Restaurant is definitely one of the many gems I hold dearest to my heart.

Courtney P.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in lowell! The staff has always been friendly and helpful if you don't know their dish.

Srey K.

Yelp
Man, I have no idea of where to start. The food was fine. Decor was fine too. We ordered fish with ginger sauce. If you look at their menu, nowhere on their menu states that it contains pork. We already told the server that we don't eat pork--yet he failed to notify us that this dish has pork! We asked the lady why does the sauce contain pork and no one notified us. We politely asked if we can get another sauce. She became combative, aggressive and argumentative. She said she will charge us. She even gave us an attitude and said "everywhere will put pork!" No, lady. They don't. In my entire 30 years of life, whether, Cambodian, Thai or Laos, they don't put that in the ginger sauce! By the way, price on the menu isn't what you'll be paying. Blatant FRAUD. First and last time for us.

Tina P.

Yelp
One of the best dish this restaurant offer is friendliness and popular common dish people ordered is mekathung and other stir fry noodle like lort cha. Beef salad with fried rice is recommended; it come with side soup broth.

Drew T.

Yelp
One of the oldest and Most known spots in Cambodia town Lowell.. i recommend anyone coming through to stop by and grab some authentic Khmer food.. please try the noodles especially if you recovering from a special night .

Lyn P.

Yelp
Food are delicious so is the shakes especially the avacado shakes and mee ka thung seafood special service are fast and they amazing job the take out food are normally fast the ambience are okay

Pachith H.

Yelp
Meekathung special with extra noodles all the way! I would say this is my second favorite of all time; I should adventure out and try other things on the menu but it's tough since there isn't one Online during these COVID times. I have going by word of mouth recommendations and beef Loc Lac and Meekathung Special with extra noodles are a once a month meal at our table! Their coconut shakes are bomb too. I hope they have a digital menu soon!

Myan T.

Yelp
If you're searching for authentic Cambodian (Khmer) cuisine, look no further, Lowell is the city to be. We visited Red Rose as our personal fave, Simply Khmer does not operate on nationally recognized holidays. I suppose you can say, they are more Americanized out of the bunch. We arrived shortly after 1pm, with plenty of seating available. Parking was also a breeze. Believe me, the lot can be a nightmare, as it's shared with other businesses in the plaza. The booths, I must mention, quite compact. Although a party of 2 can be seated comfortably, parties of 4 who are robust in size may want to choose the table option... On this encounter, I felt a bit rushed to place my order, nonetheless, service was satisfactory. They do provide two menus, one that contains pictures for reference, the other, a binder of their extensive menu list. A splendid array of food, you'll be pleased! Generally speaking, Lowell establishments have the most unsurpassed menu prices, with Red Rose as no exception. So, I opted for a Large Special Combination Noodle Bowl ($9.50) to share with my god-daughter. It consisted of beef flank, tripe, meatballs, and shrimp. A great bargain, as I did not have to pay extra for meatballs and shrimp. It definitely satisfied my noodle soup craving. My sister decided on the Regular Sized Phnom Penh Noodle ($7.50). If you're not familiar, this is the Cambodian variation of Vietnamese Pho. The major difference is the swap of pork components, with pork neck bone, pork butt, ground pork, and pork liver.. If you're adventurous enough, try it! Its really good! One issue I failed to understand is why basil and/or mints leaves aren't accompanied with bean sprouts. Isn't this standard? We also ordered coffee with condensed milk, which as always, delicious.

Alisha S.

Yelp
First and last time eating here. The beef lok lac was gross. The half of the meat smelt so disgusting I couldn't eat it (I mean why would I when it was rotten). They tried to cover it up by flouring the beef and frying it ???? It was gross. The rice soup was good, but unfortunately not worth going back. They definitely also have a sanitary problem as in the pictures u can see the mouse poop. Gross. Do better.

Victoria S.

Yelp
I asked for "birds nest" special. Meaning with beef, seafood and vegetables. All I got was Chinese broccoli, two small pieces of Vietnamese sausage, two pieces of calamari and one shrimp. Skimpy as hell smh why are all Asian restaurants getting cheap with their meats?

Ennei S.

Yelp
This is my go to spot when I'm back to my hometown. Closest thing to my mom's cooking. Everything on the menu is amazing. Lots of food and drink options. Pricing is reasonable. Quick service. Don't expect appetizers to come before dinner. Just doesn't work that way in an Asian restaurant, ever! Lol Must come if you are in town.

Kim S.

Yelp
We aren't regulars here but we stopped in for a change. I love that there is a menu with just pictures to help you decide on what to order (or useful if you aren't familiar with Khmer dishes) The noodle soup and porridge menu is quite extensive. You can get almost every noodle soup "Rose" style which is similar to "Phnom Penh" style with fish cake, minced pork and boiled liver. Of course, if that's not too your liking, you can stick with the traditional "Special" which comes with beef, meatballs, squid and shrimp. The "large" size stir fried noodle dishes are great to share. Hubby and I got Mee Ka Thung Special and we could have made a meal with just that one dish. Chinese broccoli and beef were plentiful (as most places usually skimp on that). Food was good and service was quick. The only downside is that parking can be tricky sometimes. Also, try to get a table away from the main door as it can get breezy in the colder months. The complimentary hot jasmine tea should warm you up if you don't have any other choice.

Lilang N.

Yelp
Honestly the 3 stars is for food only. If the server wasn't horrible it would have been a 5. The food was very delicious! It was refreshing and worth it. Ofc it can't go anything with pho. Now the server we get. Idk to be honest if it was a restaurant policy cause we got only 1 menu. I don't think he saw me as blind or anything but I was a bit annoyed. After that he totally ignore me. Water, table utensils and even asking me what I want. But at least I still got my food

Gee K.

Yelp
Good food, but very rude staff! We ordered take out for over $200 and they send Pork in our food when we explicitly said "no pork". Called to rectify and they would not refund the $$. Extremely rude and not customer friendly!

Pinong S.

Yelp
The price is so crazy, two dishes of rice food cost me $41, what a fraud! I am so disappointed! I asked about the price because it's way too expensive, and then they say that's correct! I am for sure not going back there

Khunravin H.

Yelp
You get what you pay for here and in my opinion, you get the best out of all of the Cambodian restaurants in Lowell! I am a regular here and the owners and servers treat me well every time. Service: Always great. From the owners to the servers, they always ask if everything is okay with food and service. That is excellent customer service. Atmosphere: Nothing special, but who cares. And there's always some Khmer karaoke playing in the background. Food: The food is great! I usually order a Special Meekathung or a Kathiew Special with some fried dough. Price: The prices are higher than other Cambodian restaurants in Lowell, but it's pretty affordable still and taste great, in my opinion. Like I said, you get what you pay for. Recommendation: Definitely go here if you want to try authentic Cambodian food. There are other Cambodian restaurants in Lowell and they are good, but just not as good as Red Rose. Try the Iced Coffee and shakes, they're so good!!

Denis D.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was below average. Disappointing. So many other better Cambodian restaurants close-by.

Lily T.

Yelp
Beef salad was OK. The Phnom Penh noodle just was not tasty at all - go to Heng Lay for that instead.

Pilaiphon W.

Yelp
Like the food here. We had mango salad with shrimp. Dry noodles, fish authentic Cambodia soup with pumpkin eggplant string beans onion turmeric soup. The tasty food . Parking in front of the restaurant.

Siemcheng N.

Yelp
Bad food quality. The fish was not fresh (the meat fell out). Somlor machu kreoung very oily and salty. Took forever to get our drink but very nice and friendly stuff. Surprisingly the bathroom is clean but the outside is not..

Mylinh S.

Yelp
I kinda like this joint. Perfect for family meals. I love that they give a soup on the side when you order rice dishes. The staffs sweet and helpful. The pricing is average. I'm not a fan of the pho here though. Kinda bland or too salty. But I love the stir fried lemongrass dish. If not I get the beef stew. Or the pork chops. I always get the fried rice with my meat choices. The inside is kinda ehh. Nothing fancy. Parking is a bitch sometimes. You can also park in the back but it's usually packed too.

Diana N.

Yelp
Still one of my favorite restaurants to go to for authentic Khmer food. Since it was cold out I ordered chicken soup with noodles and my friend ordered the birds next with fried noodles and vegetables. Everything comes out quick and fresh!

Luck H.

Yelp
Dirty, cockroach in a tea cup, the bill costs 50% more than posted in the menu. Waitress is rude.

Josephine L.

Yelp
You're in the authentic leagues here. Waitresses who barely speak English, bare minimum decor, religious offerings near the front entrance--yep, this is a little slice of Cambodia. Since we overate at the last Cambodian place, my friends and I decided to get just a couple of big dishes to try. Chicken-fried Lort Noodles - Very tasty, though lort noodles have the disturbing shape of maggots. The accompanying hot sauce was fantastic, but overall, fried noodles (of any shape) don't really do it for me. Rural Sour Soup with Tilapia - No one else was very crazy about this soup/stew, but I. LOVED. IT! Lots of lemongrass, lots of delicious leafy green veggies (I don't know their English name) and a whole tilapia fish cut up and simmered til tender in a clear, tasty slightly sour (from the lemongrass) broth. This is among the top 10 best soups I've ever had and I am a soup FIEND who drinks soup everywhere from every place of every culture! That's how good this soup is. If you're not turned off by whole fish (scales and bones included) being used in your slightly sour soup, GET THIS! I think this place might have been a bit too raw for my friends, but I'd highly recommend it for those who are really, really adventurous.

Peter P.

Yelp
Ok, so this place has been down the street from my house for well over 5 years now - but today was the day I decided to try it. Nothing prompted me to other than the fact that the nearest restaurant was equally far away. Serendipity, if it were. Food My brother and I had pork vermicelli soup and special pad thai. Both were large of course, because we figured we'd go big (and bring it home if we had to). The soup was very flavorful, and you could tell that the broth has been cooking for a while (as it should when it comes to asian cuisine). One thing to note however, is the condiments on the table. They don't use the conventional Sriracha (spicy) and hoisin sauce (sweet) here. So prior to putting it in your soup, you should check to see if it's to your liking. The spicy sauce has a less spicy burn, whereas the hoisin sauce has a garlic/peanut buttery taste/smell to it. I have tried pad thai in many different restaurants around Lowell, and I must say this has got to be one of the best. First off, the portion is huge. I'm talking about feeds-two-people-for-ten-bucks-huge. The flavor is just right where it should be with the slightly sweet taste. The money-maker here though, is the quality in which it was prepared. The pad thai here has a dry-stir-fry style to it. This means that it retains it's softness, but has a slight smoky flavor to it. The noodles are consistent, it isn't too oily nor is it burnt. Many pad thai places just get it all wrong, and it turns out to be some kind of oily fiasco from a chinese buffet. Atmosphere Not much here. You have an L-shaped restaurant with the front for casual dining, and the back for larger groups. There's a TV over the cashier that seems to be put to whatever channel the current guests like. I must note, that in the spring/summer this location is a hot-spot for people who use the park across the street. Every time I drive by, it's consistently packed (maybe that's why I was so hesitant to try it). Staff The staff is very accommodating, especially if you speak Khmer. They'll chat with you while they're doing their work if it's not too busy. However, I am not Khmer so I'm limited to the basics like water and getting the check. Final Thoughts I would definitely like to visit this place again, soon. However, I need to brush up on my Khmer because their menu doesn't have pictures. Definitely a recommended spot during Spring/Summer.

Diane H.

Yelp
My cambodian roommate brought some take out pho back! She said it tastes better at the restaurant fresh...after we ate it. They gave a half of the usual takeout soup holder that other restaurants usually give out.. Too little! It wasn't the most amazing pho ever. it was just plain jane. Maybe I'll give it a second try? But I guess I'll stick to Boston from now on. And a tiny piece of lime. and one meat ball cut in half. Can you say cheap?

Thida P.

Yelp
Tables and chairs definitely need replacing but the food is good. Whenever I go to Boston to visit the family, my parents always take me here from some Phnom Penh Noodle soup. Staff here is pretty friendly and we never have to wait long for our food. Parking kinda sucks as they share a parking lot with other stores but there is also street parking if you're lucky enough to find one.
