Quick and casual dining at Disneyland. This used to be Village Haus, which had a Pinocchio theme. The restaurant was redesigned when the live action Beauty and the Beast film was released.
Located in Fantasyland, Red Rose Taverne serves mostly burgers, potato bites, and flatbreads. In the mornings they have breakfast fare with a bit of French flair: Royal Chiffon Pancake, bacon and crème fraîche egg sandwich with a brioche-style bun, and a breakfast platter served with a petite croissant.
Mobile ordering on the app is easy and intuitive. I like skipping the line and being able to change my pick-up window. But the wait isn't too bad here if you don't.
In the film, Belle is served an elaborate dinner from the enchanted servants at the Beast's castle, with Lumière the candelabra inviting her to "try the grey stuff", a peculiar-colored dessert. It's delicious, supposedly. And if you don't believe him, he says to ask the dishes. You can order the Grey Stuff Gâteau yourself if you're curious, which is a shortbread cookie topped with red velvet cake, edible sugar pearls, and cookies n' cream mousse, with a raspberry center.
Since I visited the park during Halloween, I ordered the seasonal Pumpkin Cheesecake Cold Brew. Interesting fall drink, but didn't have much flavor to it.
The "Grave Stuff" is a bewitched Grey Stuff, which comes with a chocolate cookie, chocolate tombstone decoration, and spooky-colored sprinkles. The moose was okay and the raspberry was very tart. The red velvet cake was the only redeeming aspect. Shortbread cookie was a bit soggy. But it was better than than the Grey Stuff cupcake I tried at Disney World.
The non-holiday menu can be improved, I would like to see more French-style dishes. Cheeseburgers and chicken tenders, is that really the best you can do Disney?
