This was a great place to hang out and get some work done! The coffee was great, the staff was friendly, and they even had gluten free options!!

Love the coffee here! One of the best cups of black coffee you'll ever have. They also have delicious fancier drinks that aren't too sweet. Plus vegan milks. What more could you want?

This cute coffee shop is right down the road from me. I have been coming here for the past 2 years and Keith and Kimi (shop owners and spouses) have always been incredible kind and helpful. Recently I had to get rid of my internet during a housing sale process and have come here often to get work done. They always go above and beyond for me such as searching for a charger that would fit my laptop and letting me borrow it! They have a great selection of food and beverages including vegan options which suit me. Love this place, highly recommend!

Wow! The pastries are off the hook, I just wanted coffee while I wait for a ride. But was kinda hungry and who could pass up the soft fluffy squishy goodness, it was just amazing. Definitely would come here again.

I'm pretty new to the neighborhood and this coffeehouse is an absolute gem. Exceptional staff, great coffee and atmosphere.

Refuge is my go to coffee shop. In my opinion it’s the best coffee in the neighborhood. There’s almost always a table to work at, it’s very roomy in there and they have an awesome play spot for my 1.5yo. (A rare find!) To top it off, everyone working there is always so kind… even when I’m dragging my stroller and high energy dog through the door. Keith and Kimmy (the owners) are some of the nicest people and I have wonderful morning chats with them regularly. I am not a Christian but I feel very welcomed and at home there, regardless of what music happens to be on the speakers. :)

So happy to finally have a coffee shop in my neighborhood! Great prices, nice people, bright and airy. Excellent place to sit with my computer and get some work done, or chill on a couch with a friend.

This is my local coffee shop. I'm so glad they do pour over and with several selection of bean choices. Seems too many places skip pour over bc it takes too long. I'm happy to wait for a quality cup. Great space, comfy seats, nice and quiet, they are very welcoming owners.

The coffee shop was cute inside and had good coffee. I got an iced dirty chai. They offered me two different types of chai to choose from. That was a first for me. Majority of their baked goods were gluten free. The staff was helpful and friendly. It was nice experience.

A- MAZ- ZIIING! Everyone was super personable. I loved the cozy atmosphere, and the ambience is great. I was in need of a morning coffee and was pleasantly surprised by the warmth of this place. Keith was the amazing barista who helped me so ask for him if you come on over. Thank you guys

Service at this coffee shop was excellent! I ordered a pumpkin spice steamer and one of the GEM baked goods - both were sooo delicious! My partner ordered a cold brew and found it to be excellent as well! We took the drinks to go but it was a great ambiance indoors, plenty of people there working from their laptops.

One of my most favorite coffeehouses in Portland. It is all large windowpanes facing outside the village of Lents. This place is very kind with a good heartbeat. Much room inside.

Dropped in for a latte. Very friendly staff, delicious coffee. At the sugar bar, they use liquid. Torani sugar free or simple syrup. Love that cuz it's great for cold drinks too. Had a toasted bagel and cream cheese. Great local art on the walls and a cozy vibe. Music was low key. Not overly loud. They sell whole beans and merch too. Overall, I'd definitely come back.

This is a cool typical Portland coffee shop with friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. There are also plenty of seating options. They have few different flavor options. Parking is easy as there plenty of street parking. Oh, also check out their selection of T-shirts. They feel very nice and are of good quality.

Nice neighborhood coffee shop. Was in the area and needed to work for a few hours. The staff is super super friendly. I don't drink coffee so just got a cinnamon roll which they warmed for me (nice...) As I worked on their speedy WiFi I saw lots of locals come in and the staff would greet them by name. Heard lots of compliments on the coffee drinks.

Super quick service, delicious stuff for a very fair price, and just a great vibe in the shop. I got the cafe mocha and a blueberry danish and will 100% come back if I'm in the area.

I'm very happy they survived the pandemic, Refuge really is the anchor of culture in Lents. It's spacious enough to spread out and has a big enough selection to please everyone -- besides coffee drinks there are a lot of little granola bar-type things, pastries both sweet and savory, some to-go foods and so on, plus beans. They always have interesting local art. They used to do a cool daily music playlist thing where certain days would be jazz, or classic rock, but they don't seem to do it anymore. The baristas make a great cappuccino which I think is a good measure of a coffee shop's worth. They usually have local art on the walls, I believe. Note, I think there is something faintly Christian about the place, or maybe it's just one of the baristas? I'm not totally sure, but you get that vibe sometimes. Sometimes when I walk in they are playing Christian music, which is a little uncomfortable -- I was not raised Christian and find the culture and music very unsettling, even cultish... I try not to linger on those days. Anyway, I'm not sure exactly what's going on there but otherwise everything about Refuge is great.

Super cute coffee house with a great mission. Barista's were super friendly, worked very quickly and cleaned up promptly when a table was cleared. This is a good sized location that offered several tables, seating areas and a couch for intimate conversations. The ambiance was nice as well with good relaxing music selection. The chalk menu was a little difficult to read with the light lettering but their selection was good. Even offering seasonal Eggnog Latte and everyone's favorite PSL. The coffee was fresh and well blended with an adorable presentation. Will be back

I've heard about this place through a friend and conveniently it is located up the street from my house. Can I just tell you, this place is so cute! As soon as I walked in, I felt like I walked onto a set of the show friends. This shop felt so comfortable, homey and overall good energy. The space is perfect for studying and for getting work done. They have tons of tables and chairs. The staff was really friendly and let me tell you, the coffee was on point! I noticed that they had hazenlnut and lavendar, so I asked to put those flavors together into a latte. And omg, I'm sooo coming back. Good feels, good people, and best of all good coffee!

Very homey comfortable place with great drinks, affordable pour-over and a kids area! For pour-over they had like five or six options, including a decaf, dark medium and at least two light roasts. Less than $3 for a pour-over is amazing! An old vinyl stereo my kid loved going up and dancing to, playing classic rock (Fleetwood Mac, etc). Very friendly attentive staff! This place is awesome.

This is a true mom and pop shop, sometimes one of the (owners?) has a baby with them which is so sweet to see. They make great oat lattes and plenty of seating for you to study/work.

So stoked this place has been open throughout the pandemic, whenever they could be! I LOVE the spicy hot chai latte ( you choose between a spicy or sweet chai) and the Ethiopian coffee blend you can buy to use at home. I love having this place in the neighborhood!

I got a doppio and my partner got a triple shot. The coffee was great! We rode bikes to this location and found the staff competent and friendly. Social distancing maintained and no one was in the shop. Paid with a tap payment (tip your baristas!). Easy breezy.

Nice, chill coffee shop. Pretty low-key, friendly staff, and good coffee. I live nearby and this is my go-to spot when I run out of coffee at home.

I have stopped by twice now (admittedly because Bella's has been closed? ) and it's been a pleasant surprise! Definitely has old-school Portland coffee house vibes so don't expect anything crazy and trendy-- although, as someone who wants their own coffee shop one day, this space has SO MUCH potential.) The service has been sweet, I can tell it's a couple that owns it, and from my impressions-- he does most of the barista work. He makes a great cup of coffee!! I was skeptical, but I have been pleased twice now. My only suggestion would be to add more savory choices to the menu! The sweets I've tried are nice but I've been on the hunt for some savory breakfast stuff (hence venturing to Bella's) Refuge has bagels, I'd love if they did bagel breakfast sandwiches.. also suggest taking a window marker to the pastry case and labeling what they have!

I live on the other side of town from Refuge Coffee House. My siblings met there one Saturday morning. Excellent coffee. Great atmosphere. Very friendly and professional staff. This place really is a refuge from the chaos of the outside world. I didn't order any food, but it looked delicious and was made to order fresh, unlike a certain large coffee chain. The for-sale wall art is worth wandering through the space too. I wish this coffee house was located near me, I would definitely use it as my Refuge.

I had the Spice Mocha! It was so almost I had another one! Great service, Bought the Intent Stark Street Blend for later. Owners Keith and Kimmie were very hospitable!

Refuge is my go-to neighborhood coffee spot in Lents. Super friendly customer service, I always enjoy talking coffee with Keith. They feature a variety of interesting pour-over options from quality local roasters; I try something new almost every time I stop by and I've never been disappointed. Good coffee, good prices, and a positive, friendly environment to enjoy.

I just moved into the area, so naturally I had to try the local coffee house. It looks cute on the outside, and even cuter on the inside! Spacious and bright, but also cozy and inviting. The staff are super friendly and passionate about coffee, and the menu has some great speciality items as well as time-honored classics. I love how the interior is broken up into cozy seating areas with couches as well as regular tables, and of course I totally dig the mid-century modern record cabinet and vinyl collection! I'm definitely coming back here to work on my laptop or just to stop by for a pick-me-up. I tried the spiced mocha and it was delicious, I can't wait to try other drinks as well!

Their coffee is okay; I got an iced coffee and it was really intense and tasted a bit like gasoline. The barista was nice, but not wearing a mask. I asked her about it and she said none of the staff wear masks and they don't require customers to wear masks either (no one inside was wearing one). I know things are moving more in this direction, but still seems a bit preemptive to have a shop packed with people and no one wearing masks.

This place has amazing smoothies I always come in for my americanos and every time it comes our delicious. I recommend this place to anyone that enjoys good coffee and smoothies and on top of that the couple that owns the coffee shop are super welcoming and friendly .. love the place ,love the drinks ,love the people there my top favorite coffee shop

I came up in the 90's when coffee shops were at a pinnacle. Stepping in here on a few separate Saturdays has felt like a homecoming. It's comfortable, classy, calm and caffeinated. I'm in an adjacent neighborhood but enjoy the short trek here for a quality spot of coffee and community.

First time here. They served the coffee at a perfect temp and toasted my croissant which was considerate. Sell some really cool merchandise, clothing, and literature. I'd say one of the best coffee shops in Ptown to hang out and study.

Was super excited to have a delicious coffee shop next to my new home . Delicious espresso and very kind staff !

The owners are always there to help out. The coffee is really good and both husband and wife are super friendly. The coffee is made quickly. Their merchandise reads Hope which is so uplifting and great. My daughter bought a sweatshirt. The food looks great, although I haven't gotten to try it yet.

I love this place. It's a quick walk from my house and the environment is clean and friendly. Barista was really helpful when I was trying to decide which coffees to try.

This coffee is amazingly smooth. I typically put a bit of cream in my coffee to cut down on the bitterness. Their pour over did not need any cream or sugar. It was perfect as is. Sooo yummmy. Its been a while since I found a good mom and pop shop coffee place with actual good coffee. I recommend the Cost Rica. The owners are super nice and are fun to chat with too.

Amazing coffee in the non-hipster area of SE Portland. They have the best Iced White Chocolate Mocha. You have to try it! This place is amazing. Highly recommend!

Stopped by based on the good reviews. Service was so friendly. I had a drip coffee and my husband had a cappuccino. Both were fantastic and relatively inexpensive. Had a couple breakfast sandwiches too. Definitely recommend

Great little neighborhood coffee shop with a variety of coffees and pastries. They have outlets and Wi-Fi - the only drawback is parking is a challenge.

Really great addition to the neighborhood! I work from home and I'm always looking for new coffee shops to try out. This one is still pretty quiet, but they serve One Stripe Chai which is one of my faves, decent Wi-Fi, and a cozy atmosphere. Come check them out!

First time visiting today (a Monday). I arrived at around 1:00 and stayed till 3:30 and got some work done. Had a tasty mocha and an americano. My only criticism is they could really step up their pastry game a bit. They had a couple muffins and sad looking bagels. Maybe tap into Bella's down the street and offer pastries from the hood? One other criticism - there was no sugar at the bar. They had a liquid sugar thing but no actual sugar. No sugar for coffee? I asked and they gave me a couple packs, but that should really be stocked. But the coffee was delicious, the baristas friendly, and I was really shocked at the number of people there for a Monday afternoon. There seemed to be great conversations happening everywhere and there was a good mix of people- not something I was expecting on a Monday afternoon. I look forward to returning and watching the shop flourish. Welcome to Lents!

Great, super friendly local coffee shop located off the multi-use path leading to spring water corridor, if you're looking for a coffee break while biking. Some nice outdoor seating and spacious area inside

What a wonderful place. Great coffee, treats, food, and to top it off...you can also get some teas. They have vinyl for a great musical atmosphere as you are enjoying your cup of coffee. The staff is very warm and friendly....just like their drinks. Don't forget to stop by!!!

It's a pretty large cafe, with tables, chairs, as well as nice couches and little niches for small groups to hang out. There's also a small kids' play space. Stopped by here for the firat time around noon in a Wednesday. There were only a few people there so I was helped right away. Got a pour over coffee which was good and they even had heavy cream for me too. I like the decor and the chairs seemed comfortable. I'll definitely return if I need a cup and in the area.

Awesome mid century modern coffee house, with a functional record player operated by the owner, as well as high end coffee and a variety of gluten free/vegan eats at an affordable price. The staff/owners are pure class! Such a great addition to the Lents community.

Great new addition to the neighborhood. Properly-made coffee drinks, fantastic spacing & MidCentury furniture, clean, and chairs with cushions (what a concept!). Keith is a hands-on owner who has created a gem in Lents.

This place is great. Super convenient location, and lots of natural light brings in a nice atmosphere. Coffee was good and the staff was very friendly. They were playing nice oldies when I walked in and the volume was perfect for having a conversation with my friend. This coffee shop is warm and clean. I'll definitely be back.
