Regalo

"‘Regalo’ is Italian for ‘gift’. Chef Tomomi Ogura uses Japanese ingredients such as bamboo shoots, sweetfish and Pacific saury to bring the seasons of Japan to his guests. Combinations of ingredients are to be kept to a minimum; set menus should offer variety . These two principles summarise cucina Ogura, which literally means ‘Ogura’s Kitchen’. A calculated minimalism creates precisely the desired effect." - Michelin Inspector

OCT 2024 Came here for dinner and was seated at one of the four counter seats with a full view of the open kitchen and the chefs at work. The menu was a seven course spread over two hours and before dessert you can also order additional pasta dish. The menu focused on seafood for the first four dishes and started off strong with the deep dried smelt fish, perfectly crisp and tasty with the sauce. Sautéed octopus with artichoke was nicely seasoned, and the soft flaky tilefish with the crispy skin paired with the mushroom sauce was delicious. This was followed by two pasta dishes, both were packed with flavors and the pasta were cooked al dente to my liking (the second pasta looks like buckwheat soba). The main meat dish was a chargrilled wagyu, perfectly cooked with the flavor and juice sealed; it was tender and tasty. For dessert there was a number of choices; I had the grapefruit creme brulee; the cream was less thickened compared to traditional creme brulee but goes well with the small chunks of grapefruit. Overall everything was delicious, especially the tilefish and the unique pasta dishes. Service was good.

My family went there to celebrate my son’s birthday. Food was satisfying and everything was well-cooked. I especially liked the charcoal-grilled beef. It was tender and succulent and was well-seasoned. I could eat 3 more servings of that. :) The service was also great. The chef and staff were really friendly and polite. Now, if only they had served us with amazing desserts, I would have given them a perfect score. But, nevertheless, the dining experience was awesome.

Overall, one of the best Italian meals I've had, including time spent in Italy. Pasta was made fresh in the open kitchen (I sat at the counter), meats were perfectly cooked and all the sauces were delicious. Probably didn't need the truffles for the extra charge, but it is truffle season. Only complaint was the meal took 2.5 hours, similar to eating in Italy. The chefs are working hard and fast, but it's a small kitchen so they can only go so fast. Overall, budget your time and enjoy a great meal.

Like the antipasto the most, usually I could not eat foie gras, but they produced it very well. Pairing drinks are wonderful. And the service is also great. 9,900 for a meal like this is more than satisfied for me.

Food is satisfying and the price as well. Service quality is so so but understandable because they don't charge the service fee. They have to care more about the washing dishes. Cup for water was quite stink so I didn't drink water. It usually cannot happen for Michelin starred restaurant.

For a glass of wine and a set menu, it was ¥10000. Had a terrific dinner a few days ago at Regalo with great food, wonderful service.

Yelp
The food was good but a little overrated I expected more for a Michelin star place. Their wine selection is very limited

Yelp
Best in fine dining near Sangubashi station. Service and food impeccable though communication was at times a little difficult with the servers' limited English.

Yelp
Recently awarded one Michelin Star. Superb experience in a casual setting, no need to overly dress up. Great ambiance with jazz playing in the background, attentive service by all waitstaff, very knowledgeable server and Maitre D' that explained courses and dishes, ingredients, etc and made excellent wine pairing recommendations. We code the 7 course prix-fixe menu, consisting of baked Nagasaki oysters, sea breem carpaccio from that mornings catch in Tsukiji, fresh baked breads, pasta alla arrabiatta, hand made pasta with a beef sauce and mountain vegetables, charcoal seared Ibaraki pork and our choice of dessert (I chose the Lemon Perfection... amazing) and of course coffee or tea. 4 of us dined and drank for about ¥35000, which I consider affordable considering the superior setting, service, quality of the food and attention to detail. Perfect for a date, budget about 3 hours' time for the whole meal. You will NOT be disappointed!
