Best DFW Restaurants According to Reggae Jerk Hut’s Marsha Telfer | Eater Dallas

"Opened in summer 2023 by a husband-and-wife team who wanted to bring their Haitian and Jamaican heritage to their hometown of McKinney, this is the city’s first Haitian-Jamaican restaurant. The menu blends both cuisines with items like deep-fried conch fritters with a creamy dipping sauce, oxtail birria tacos, saucy chicken wings, rasta pasta (penne and bell peppers in a creamy sauce with a proprietary spice mix), curried goat or chicken, a griot snack box, and a macaroni-and-cheese oxtail skillet. For newcomers, the recommended order is the Tour of Jamaica, which samples oxtail, curry goat, and a choice of Haitian-style rice to showcase the restaurant’s fusion approach." - Courtney E. Smith

I was driving by and i saw a Jamaican restaurant, something i have never tried. So i took a gamble and was pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing. I loved it. The portions are generous. I ordered the Callaloo, Ackee and Saltfish with fried green plantains,Jerk Chicken with Jamaican rice and cabbage, and the Jamaican pastry with curry chicken. The staff were very friendly. Food came out quickly. Very little wait time. The tables are always attended to and kept clean.

If nothing else, 5 stars for the phenomenal service from my server, Nicole! She was so positive and welcoming and helpful. I asked her opinion multiple times and she was happy to offer her suggestions. Also, the MOD, Macy, stopped by to make sure I was satisfied and felt very welcome. Atmosphere: I’m a music snob. Usually never happy with music. This place was playing festive grooves, very enjoyable and will get you in a good mood asap. Food: I got the curry chicken. Didn’t leave a drop on my plate. All food was served very hot and fresh. Exquisite. Got the Coco bread on the side to sop up my curry and that really brought it all home. Fresh baked and piping hot. So good!!

Today was my 4th time having food from here. I dined in twice and had takeout twice. I’m very disappointed in the quality of the food today. My rice was hard as if it wasn’t cooked all the way through . I was only given 4 pieces of curry chicken and the food was not hot and did not seem like it was cooked fresh today. I went in at 2pmI’m very dissatisfied because I tried this place in may before I moved here and enjoyed it and to see that the quality has changed within two months is disheartening. The staff is always really nice and welcoming. The environment is always clean as well. It’s just the quality of the food.

Came for brunch and loved it. Shoutout to the bartender Stewart for awesome service. The food was delicious, spiced well and the meat just fell off the bone. Thank you to the owner for allowing the mimosa carafe, we loved it.

Google
When I say this food made me feel as if I was in Jamaica all over again. The flavors were everything. The service was good, food hot and brought out in no time. I tried the jerk chicken with the Haitian black rice and my husband tried the stewed chicken. The chicken fell off the bone and was finger licking good. I will definitely be back again to try other items on the menu.

Taking me back to New Jersey, let me tell you. These guys do it right on the curry. Very well balanced menu. I find the price tag can be a little heavy. For example, a Jamaica 🇯🇲 beef pattie, I personally feel, is high. I won't give out prices as for the person I can be extremely responsible. The wait time can be questioned from visit to visit, let's just say. Overall, would I eat here again? 💯 % I would. I'm here twice a month.

Google
reggae jerk hut is a hidden gem in an unsuspecting area of mckinney on custer road. i have visited this restaurant twice - once on a saturday afternoon (sat @ the bar) and today i came in for brunch. personable service each time. so pleased to finally have a 🇯🇲restaurant this far north that has chicken SOUP, and cornmeal PORRIDGE on the menu. today i had the porridge and the oxtail benedict. the porridge was😋👌🏾😋…delish, creamy and smooth. the oxtails were tender (fell apart) and savory, poached eggs were slightly overdone but still delish - nice take on a classic dish. rum punch 💯. my prior visit i had the conch fritters and they were good, nice sauce to go with it. reggae jerk hut is on my list of places to start to visit more often, for sure! 👌🏾

Google
Overall, not bad. The photo is the Braised Oxtail with Jamaican Rice. The oxtail is on the savory sweet side instead of salt and spicy. The Jamaican Rice on the other hand is awesome if you are into spicy food,l. As for the veggies, it's freshly prepared. The only downside is probably the wait time, which took well over 40 mins before it was served after placing the order. Would I go back? Absolutely!

Yelp
We recently catered food from Reggae Jerk Hut for my daughter's high school graduation party and everything was delicious! We ordered large pans of the stew chicken, jerk chicken, mac and cheese, cabbage, and rice and peas. Every single dish was full of flavor and cooked perfectly! My family flew in from NYC for the party and everyone was asking me where I got the food from! This is hands down the best Caribbean food in the Dallas area and worth the drive to McKinney. Catering tip: If you're picking up a large order, I recommend packing a cardboard box in your trunk or laying something down to prevent the sauce from spilling. Thankfully, I had my yoga mat in the car and didn't have to clean up too much.

Yelp
We came in around 3 PM on a Sunday--place was about half full, and there seemed to be plenty of staff. The food? Absolutely outstanding--easily five stars for flavor, seasoning, and presentation. Every bite was worth the wait... but **wow**, the wait. Unfortunately, the service was painfully slow. It took a full hour for our food to come out after we ordered, and no one acknowledged the delay or checked in to explain what was happening. I will probably try take out next time, but hope they work on the service side. A little communication would go a long way.

Yelp
Highly recommend for good oxtails and jerk chicken! Food was made to order and had an authentic flavor. I wish the chicken was a little spicer though. Friendly service and fun vibe with music. Music can get loud at times if you're trying to have a conversation.

Yelp
Great food great service....every time . Coming from Florida I really appreciate well prepared Caribbean food.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem tucked in McKinney. It's always clean, prompt and polite service, GOODT food ! What more can I say !!!

Yelp
3.75 I think it's a small family run business, so it's not many people working though they manage to put out good food. It took a minute to get seated and flatware. It also took a while for food and drinks. I had the curry goat with rice and peas and cabbage. The goat was so good. And very tender. I do thin the rice and peas are a little bland. My daughter had the Rasta pasta with chicken. She said it was good and a little spicy. My husband got the escovitch which he really enjoyed. We also had curry chicken patties that were really. Everything comes out piping hot hence the wait time.

Yelp
I was craving curry chicken and didn't want to make it. This place popped up close to me. I placed an order for pick up. (You have to pay over the phone). When I got there, there was music playing and a few patrons there. I sat at the bar until my order was ready. The restaurant itself is decorated in Jamaican colors and Bob Marley mural. The curry chicken was excellent. Very flavorful, fell of the bone. I will def order again.

Yelp
Recently went here for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived at 12:30 and were promptly seated. It wasn't crowded but the music was a little loud. The ambiance/decor of the restaurant is nice and our server for the day was very sweet. Now on to food and drinks. We all had the rum punch because let's face it, what's a good Caribbean restaurant if they don't make a good rum punch? Luckily they did not disappoint. I can only speak on my meal and it was delicious. I went with the Mac & Cheese Oxtail Skillet and it was DELICIOUS! Like so good I ordered a second portion to take home for dinner that night. I'm not sure about the other dishes but this dish alone will make me go back. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 was the automatic gratuity our server placed on our ticket without notifying us. Apparently 3 moms and 3 kids (all under 3) count as a part of 6? I get it, technically yes there were six of us but 1 of the kids at the table was a baby and not old enough to eat any of the food there. Just feel this could have been mentioned if it was required. Other than that, definitely worth a try if you want Caribbean food on the north side of town.

Yelp
Food at this restaurant was outstanding, service as well, great location and ambiance!!! It will definitely be my go to location whenever I'm in town again...

Yelp
They have a saying on almost all islands I've ever been to, if you want fast service- you are on the wrong island! Lol I shared jerk chicken plate, plantains and a beef patty with my gf. The plantains were not as ripe and carmelized as I like, but they were still good! The jerk chicken was nicely spiced. The beef patty was delicious and flaky! Will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Checked out brunch and overall it was ok. It's not my favorite here. However, wanted to check out other menu items. BRUNCH Food was good, not great. However still enjoyable. I like dinner and those dishes better. Mimosas were good! Service was ok. I have had better there. Ambiance is always good and chill. Still think they the food is tasty here. I recommend oxtails, curry chicken, cabbage and the PASTA. Brunch was 3.5 for me. Worth checking out for something different.
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
Based on my visit here for three beef patties, kids Mac and cheese, and bread pudding, I give this place 4/5 stars, and that's only because the bread pudding wasn't the greatest (the rum oversaturated the flavor and made it soggy). Although our first trip here didn't involve trying many things, my family and I enjoyed all the "likkle bites" we had. We'll definitely be back and try more menu items. Also, the customer service was good. The young gentleman at the front was very friendly and the staff was pleasant.

Yelp
AMAZING Jamaican- Haitian Cuisine in DFW @reggaejerkhut If you haven't visited @reggaejerkhut, it's time to plan to get here NOW. This is as AUTHENTIC as you can get in DFW. The owners are from Jamaica & Haiti and the chef is from Kingston, Jamaica. Each dish & drink is made with love and care makes you feel like you've been transported right to the island. Everything was soo good! It was hard to choose a favorite dish. The tour of Jamaica is a perfect plate to order when you want to try a little of everything! The Whole Red Snapper is delicous! You can order it Fried, Escovitch, Brown Stew, Steamed w/okra & Jamaican water crackers The Rasta Pasta was out of the world soo good!! The Bob Marley taste amazing you could barely taste the alcohol in it but I sure did feel it lol ‼ You really can't go wrong with ordering anything on this menu! Staff were knowledgable and friendly! Great customer service Awesome atmosphere, great for family & fri This was a 10/10 experience. I can't wait to come back and try their bruncn on Saturdays & Sundays and order more of their Haitian food Yall have to get here, Tell them @foodiesonthemove_ sent you!

Yelp
Whole Red Snapper (Stewed) I can't stop raving about this place! Amazing service, food is 10/10, and the drinks never disappoint!

Yelp
Found a great Jamaica restaurant in Frisco named "Reggae Jerk Hut", the chief has been coming from Jamaica off the board, prepares the food one by one, slow but excellent with authentic flavor. Best Curry Goat I think in the DFW area, 100% real Jamaican style & taste. The Ackee & Salt-fish using the fresh Ackee cooked as ordered, take some time but you will appreciated when you try it!

M C.

Yelp
The oxtails were tough and the serving was skimpy. The atmosphere was nice, very clean.

V M.

Yelp
Avoid this place! The food is mediocre at best. The food tastes like reheated crap from days ago. The curry chicken is just 2 pieces of crazy spicy chopped up drumsticks or thighs. Customer service was indifferent at best, and the vibe of the place didn't make up for the subpar experience. If you're craving real, well-made Caribbean food, do yourself a favor and drive to ROLANDS in Irving -- it's a completely different league. That place delivers rich, thoughtfully prepared meals that respect the roots of the cuisine.

Drew T.

Yelp
Food is decent, not amazing. I ordered the griot and asked for extra pikliz. They said they couldn't give extra. I told them I was willing to pay extra. They agreed. I trusted it would be a reasonable amount but they tacked on $7 to my bill. Pikliz make the dish what it is. Discouraging me from getting some extra side is enough to not make me want to go back. Not very thoughtful of the customer. Way too expensive.

Yelp
If you know, you know!!! I've been looking for a local spot in McKinney to get some stew chicken and jerk, but who knew I'd get a tour of all my favs in one sitting! The festivals was so hot fresh and had just the right amount of sweetness to balance the spice of the food. Get there early or they will be out of beef patties. My husband and I slept so good after this meal. The service was great too. Cool vibe and bar for all the mixed drinks you can handle. I will be bringing my son back so he can get a taste of his culture and fall in love like I did! Check them out yall.

Yelp
The braised oxtail and Haitian rice and plantains were delicious and portions very generous !!

Yelp
Laid back, good music, great atmosphere. If you want to taste authentic Jamaican food this is your place. So excited to find a place around us to get my Jamaican fix for food and drinks. Staff was friendly and helpful to each other to help the customers. Feel like our waitress forgot a few items or took a bit longer on a few things including to end our meal, but overall was relaxing and good! Restrooms were clean. Cost is fair.
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance is great. Decor is beautiful, casual but still quaint on theme decor. Staff was pleasant, welcoming and offered recommendations. Food: I have been dying to try this food and thankful a spot like this exists in McKinney. I am willing to give it another try because I'm optimistic. The food was brought out as the dishes were made. Not a great experience considering we all ordered entrees and we were waiting for everyone to get their food to eat. My food was slightly cold by the time I could eat it. We ended up getting the beef patty, oxtail birria taco, and hubby got jerk chicken. Oxtail birria taco great concept but consume was lacking. Jerk sauce was great, beef patty had a nice hint of spice. Ordered a margarita, tasted it, thought it was off and then I was brought a shot because they said they forgot to put the tequila in it.... Didn't know what to think but appreciated the honesty. I'd go back to give it a try but it is a bit more on the pricier side.
google avatar

Tracey B.

Yelp
The female manager is not very professional when servicing customers, there was 9 people and we had to wait a while for our food but out of 9 people 1 person did not get her and they never came and told her that she would have to wait another 2030 minutes for her meal because they ran out and I don't understand. How can you run out of food when you have a bunch of people in there so when you get halfway through the batch made wouldn't you started another batch in the manager offered her 5% discount that was very disrespectful but in that she lost a whole order because the young way you decided not to even get the food and kept her money. She's hurting her own store as service. Poor communication, poor communication skills.

Yelp
Finally got to check this place out. The food was so good! The service could've been a bit faster but other than that no complaints. I wish there was a location in Dallas so I could go more often.
google avatar

Valerie V.

Yelp
I love the food here! Everything is authentic & portions are pretty big. The Haitian black rice was absolutely delicious & not super spicy. The beet salad was also fire! The vibe is a party & I am thankful they are here in the DFW.
google avatar

Dawn N.

Yelp
This place is REALLY GOOD!! When I first walked in, the ambiance is very cute. Definitely does give that Caribbean vibe, but not a lot of seating. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive. I had the drink called Rasta Rita and it was so refreshing!!! I ordered the Rasta pasta with jerk chicken and let me tell you! THAT PASTA WAS AMAZING!!! Very creamy, flavorful, and spicy but not spicy to the point where you can't enjoy it. And the portion size was definitely worth the price. I definitely will be back at this spot, highly recommend you try it
google avatar

Yelp
It's good The jerk is good The flavors feel authentic The people there feel like family ! Nothing crazy but all good

Yelp
Came today with high hopes, as a Haitian-American new to DFW who is missing her mom's griot and bannan peze! While nothing can compare to mom's cooking, the "Little Haiti" plate came pretty close. Pikliz and salad russe were good, while the diri Jon Jon lacked that extra oomph to my husband and I. But it did the job. Disappointed that they didn't have stewed conch available, and that they served the dish with sweet plantain instead of green. We also ordered curry shrimp with white rice that had an amazing cabbage! Great decor and ambiance, good music and DJ although a little loud for 2 pm LOL. Overall we enjoyed our meal and the service, and we will be back. Mesi anpil!

Yelp
I've heard about this restaurant countless times and decided to come here to clear my mind as today makes a month, since my father passed. My waitress was sweet. However after that the service was slow for a 2:45-3pm on Wednesday, the restaurant was not busy in terms of dine in business. The food was decent and the drinks were good & strong, until a gnat ended up in my drink and they weren't willing to replace the rest of my drink without charging me. My friend and I ordered the plantain cups with jerk shrimp, oxtail tacos, conch fritters, HBBQ jerk wings, and black Haitian rice. Nearly the whole menu outside of entrees. The food took at least 20 minutes and our drinks took about 10 (mind you there was only one other table). The oxtail tacos had several chunks of fat , which I wasn't TOO moved by since it is oxtails which are fatty, there was a mini bone in our plantain shrimp cups but they were the most delicious thing. The conch fritters were filled with too much breading and the sauce was simply spiked miracle whip. We asked for the wings fried extra extra hard and that didn't happen as they were already coming out as we asked for the request (mind you we were already waiting 15+ min and only one other table also). To contrary though, Haitian rice was great. It was two of us and there were 6 fritters we ate one each and I tried to eat another and realized we didn't like them, she didn't offer to replace after we expressed our disdain and we went ahead & ordered more food instead. & was still charged for fritters, but we charged to the game. Lastly as we were finishing up, I had half of my drink left to drink and look inside to see a live gnat flying around in it. I simply asked if I could have the last half replaced as I wanted to finish it and was told I would only able to be given a premade drink and still be charged for it... mind you I've been a server, cocktail server, and bare tender on and off for seven years so I speak from more than enough experience! So casually spending $90-$100 on a Wednesday afternoon we hoped to have amazing service and punctuality.

Yelp
There are no pictures, but don't let that be a distraction for you not to check this spot out. There are no pictures because the food was so good. I ate it all before I can snap the photo but I had jerk, chicken, rice and beans and plantain yummy fresh authentic flavor. Dynamite! I cannot comment on the ambience because I grab my food to go. I ordered my food by phone. It was ready when I got there.

Yelp
I arrived on a Saturday for the official grand opening. It's conveniently located right off the highway with ample parking. For starters, the ambiance made me feel like I was back in Kingston. The decor was very welcoming and we were immediately greeted as we entered the restaurant. I knew I was going to write this review on the newest Jamaican restaurant in McKinney so I sampled a variety of items. My first drink was the coconut martini, made with coconut rum and vodka. The rim was trimmed with coconut and a pineapple slice. My second drink was the Kingston Mule, made with rum, tangy lime, lemon sorbet & ginger beer. Whatever you do, DO NOT order the Pina Colada, it tasted like coconut water. Where da liquor at??????? The best three drinks at our table hands down were the zombie, rum punch and the coconut martini. For an appetizer, my friend had the smoked honey barbecue jerk wings. He said they were flavorful with a nice kick. I had the Jamaican patty, it did not disappoint. For our meals, I had the jerk chicken. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Rasta pasta with jerk chicken was equally amazing. My only complaints were the following, 1) The service was slow; 2) My friend ordered a drink and was told that it was difficult to make, so he was asked to order something else; and 3) Some of the drinks were so watered down, they weren't worth the calories (The Dunn's River Falls, the Pina Colada and the Kingston Mule) Reggae Jerk Hut is definitely a restaurant worth trying. The food deserves 5 stars, hands down!!!!! The drinks are a hit or miss and I would rate the service 4 out of 5 stars. If your a fan of good food, get in your car and check it out for yourself!

Yelp
I will highly recommend this place. The service was good we were seated right away. Our waitress was very attentive. The ambiance was good they had a DJ when we were there so the music was great to listen to while eating. The food was great. Couldn't decide on one thing so had the Tour of Jamaica and my tummy was very happy. Even had enough for leftovers

Yelp
Update: This time I got the regular jerk chicken plate, with dark meat. It was amazing. I also got Mac & Cheese and Callaloo on the side, and a Jamaican Patty. This place is absolutely a new favorite.

Yelp
New to the McKinney area & just opened. When you come in, the ambiance is really nice! The space inside is very nice with a bar area. I ordered over the phone & they told me 15-20 mins and it was indeed ready when I got there, so the service was great. Now the food... The oxtail, rice & peas was pretty good & your standard taste. BUT they deff skimped out on the portion sizes, it was a bunch of mini ones. Especially for $TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS $ I expect the plate to be heavy with meat but it was mainly rice! Deff got cheated out my meat. The oxtail was a strong 6.5/10 From my sister: The fish was really small, barely had any meat, it was very mid, u can get a bigger fish from HEB. Everyone who got the Haitian rice said it was a 10/10. Jerk chicken and the honey bbq wings were pretty good. There were a couple mishaps in the order. The cabbage to rice ratio was very off. I give it a 3 because: pricing was very expensive, portions was off, & it wasn't amazing. Would I go back? Mmm if I wanted oxtail that bad & wanted to spend the money.

Yelp
I had a hankering for Jamaican so of course I referred to yelp to see if we had any in the area and to my surprise Reggae Jerk popped up not to far from my house. I wanted something quick to go so I sat down at the small bar located at the end of the restaurant and ordered. I decided on the oxtail Curry Goat 1/2 lb serving of curry goat slowly cooked in savory RJH curry sauce, they have shrimp and chicken options as well. While I waited I also ordered the rum punch, I couldn't finish it all so I took it to go. I must say this drink had me knocked out with a nap after I ate and I still didn't finish the whole drink! Getting back to my entree I had high hopes however the flavor just wasn't there. I will go back to try some of there other dishes I hear the Jerk chicken is a must.
google avatar

Briana S.

Yelp
Okay, so the food is sooo good and the drinks are too. The service is a bit slow but the food was fresh, hot, and amazingly flavorful. I purchased a rum punch, orange tea shot,, and Mai tai while I waited for my to go order. I ordered the jerk chicken and the jerk shrimp Rasta pasta.

Yelp
My wife and I just enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Reggae Jerk Hut in McKinney today. First of all I must say the service was amazing, the staff was pleasant, and attentive at all times! I ordered a rum punch, cause..... why not I was in a Jamaican restaurant and rum is king in Jamaica! Needless to say it was a good strong drink. We ordered the Conch fritters appetizer, they were good not really that much conch but still good, more like a crab cake with conch flavor. For our mains my wife had the whole fried fish escovitch, and I had the curry goat with cabbage. The whole fried fish was really good, cooked perfectly with the escovitch over the top! My curry goat was cooked perfectly with fresh authentic Jamaican seasoning, it was tender with a creamy sauce! I highly recommend the Reggae jerk hut, if you want a true taste of Jamaican cooking, or just to pull up to the full service bar and have a cocktail then this is the perfect place, enjoy!

Yelp
But still I went through a lot of the businesses and nobody has a $10 almost $11 hike on their food just to order it through delivery that's RIP off you're not doing anything different but except in order through delivery you still make it the same you still give the same amount of food so I still don't understand the big old hike1,2 even 3 dollars but $11 WOW I made my point last time with Popeyes look if something on there is five dollars and you order do delivery is six if it's $13 you order through delivery is 14 I feel y'all just ripping people

Yelp
This is my go to place for a taste of home. While I'm Trinidadian, it's the closest I could get to good Caribbean food - curry goat, fried plantains and stew chicken. The jerk chicken and jerk pork here is the best I've ever had. A bit pricy but when demand is high i understand and they don't cut corners so expect to wait for your food since they actually cook it and not just throw things together. Oh and try the Rum Cake. If you have never tried it, it's an acquired taste, but if you know what I'm talking about, it''s exactly what you expect to get at Christmas time at home!
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoyed my jerk chicken dish. The flavor and heat are delicious! I could use more gravy, but that's all I can complain about here. Good portions too. I'll definitely come back again to try something new.

Yelp
First timer here and in this order they get 5 stars: Service-We were seated as soon as we entered. Food was served in a timely manner. Ambiance-Chill atmosphere, nice mellow reggae music playing, they even have a back drop for pics Food-First time having escovitch chicken wings and they were delicious. Entrees (curry chicken, stew chicken) also very good portion size was on point.

Yelp
The food presentation was nice but eating it was bad. Only thing hot was the rice. We ordered the tour of Jamaica, a variety of meats like oxtails, curry chicken, jerk chicken, rice and cabbage. None of the food was fresh and it took forever for it to come out. I knew better to eat cold spicy food. I even took what was leftover to go and gave it to my daughter and now we have three stomachaches from eating their food. I even told our server about the temperature of the food and she said she would let the kitchen know. This place wasn't that busy when we went, we waited for a server so long I had to stop somebody to take our order. It was like we didn't exist. Our server was very nice and friendly (she did her job) but the kitchen and bar is the reason why we were unhappy with being there. It took the bar 10 minutes to make one drink with only 4 ppl in there. The drink was very sweet and had zero alcohol in it. Like it was premade. (I don't recommend getting specialty drinks) the place is nice and clean just really disappointed about the old food. All three of us have stomachaches. Oh you we had to drink with coffee straws bc they ran out but there's so many stores around. Could've sent someone to pick some up. Just annoying drinking out of tall cups with short straws. Food--- 4.5/10 Drink ::: 0/10 Wait time for service: grade D Very pricey! Total check was $61 before taxes and gratuity. Total check $84

Good food. Good service. Nice ambiance. I wish there was more flexibility with menu items as far as substituting but it was good

Yelp
Walked in and walked out. Supposed to have a Happy Hour but nobody was there. No music playing. Ambiance was just okay. Nobody help us to our seat or came to the door for that matter so we left. Will try another day.

Yelp
This restaurant recently opened next door to Banfield Pet Hospital, which was how I noticed it. There's a sign on the window saying Veteran Owned, so my family jumped at the chance to come here to support the business right away. The reception was great. The foods were amazing. Plates were big, including the kid's portion. My bf ordered the goat curry, but the person who too our order didn't tell us that they were out of goat. So, when he got his plate, it didn't dawn onto him that he was eating chicken until we overheard her tell someone in back of us that they ran out of goat and we asked. It would have been nice to know ahead of time so he can try something else on the menu. My daughter got the child's portion of the chicken curry and was very happy with it. I got the oxtail and was very happy with mine. We received a plate of fried bread which my daughter thought was one of the greatest thing in the world. Overall, we would give this place a 4.5, not 5 because of the slow service by our server. It took a long time for us to get an answer on whether we could get a military discount, to get our check, and to get my bf's credit card back. It seemed like our waitress was doing everything herself even though there were multiple people standing around. Our water glasses sat empty throughout dinner. We'll undoubtedly come back to try other dishes, but hopefully service will be better next time.

Yelp
This place was a great find! Had a taste for some authentic Jamaican food and didn't disappoint. If you want some good drinks, good vibe, and food, check them out!

Yelp
So overall the food was ok. I have definitely had better Jamaican in the dfw. I think I had high expectations after seeing a reviewer on IG. He hyped it up so much I really thought I was going to be mind blown. The biggest disappointment was the Haitian rice. It just did not have any flavor, just tasted like some boiled bland rice. The oxtail sauce helped it a tone. The oxtails were just ok, the sauce was not anything great. I did really like the cabbage. They didn't have any plantains because they weren't ripe. I finished with the rum bread pudding it had a bit too much rum but it was ok. Great service. Good ambiance and vibe.

Yelp
This is an amazing restaurant. If you are looking for good Caribbean/ Haitian food, this is the spot. I love the service and the environment.

Yelp
We are here a couple months ago. Food was delicious. The tour of Jamaica gives you everything you want. The oxtail was very good and tender. The only thing that wasn't top tier was the fried bread. It was a little doughy.
