The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week, September 2021 - Eater NY

"It’d be easy enough to stumble right past Ecuadorian restaurant Reina de la Nube’s tiny storefront on bustling Fourth Avenue in Sunset Park if not for the steady stream of customers passing through its doorway, hauling out heavy takeout bags. On a recent visit, I sat indoors at one of a handful of tables to try out one of their most popular dishes, the banderita criolla ($14)." - Eater Staff

Amazing food, great service, everyone is very kind and answered all our questions. Our first time having Ecuadorian food so I can’t speak to the authenticity but to me it was incredible - so hearty, fresh and good. The best tostones I’ve ever had! Big portions and very reasonably priced. I loved this place.

Great place for Ecuadorian food. They sell homemade Ecuadorian bread which goes great with some warm horchata, Ecuadorian hot chocolate, or chilled oatmeal juice. Breakfast is served all day and prices are great. Definitely give this place a try.

ECUADOR 🇪🇨 Eat the World NYC review: From the outside, with an awning that has long disintegrated away, the poetic and whimsical name of "Queen of the Cloud" might only be familiar to Ecuadorians and a few Peruvians with knowledge of the history. A sticker in the front window honors nuestra señora de la nube, a story that goes back to the 1600's when the Virgin Mary appeared in the sky above a prayer procession on its way from a village to Quito. At the site of this appearance, there is now a festival each year to celebrate the events. Back down here on Earth, this little bakery and restaurant is popular with livery cab drivers and other Ecuadorians inspired by their weekday lunch specials, excellent prices, and quick service allowing them to get back in their cars and back to work. A shrine in the front has dolls to (I'm guessing) represent the Blessed Mother, and some patrons say a prayer and touch her dress on the way out.

If you’re looking for an affordable amazing meal look no further. Only downside is the food can run a bit salty.

Food was great but the workers/waitress weren’t too friendly

Small place but seating is available indoors. There is also a bakery section that sells breads and pastries. I ordered a Bandejita Criolla and Guatita (see picture below) with Tamarindo and Maracuya juice. Everything was great. The food is very tasty and this has been the only place so far that I have found that serves authentic Ecuadorian food unlike the many others. The fried pork was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside unlike most that are hard and dry like a rock. Big portions and reasonably priced. Great overall.

Pretty delicious, large portion sizes for the price. Everything felt fresh and well seasoned. My boyfriend and I shared El Cholito, which had a mixture of meats plus ceviche and maduros. We added the cow feet soup with mote which was delicious but ultimately too much food ha. Overall enjoyed the simple, down to earth atmosphere (which I prefer compared to some more gentrified pan Latin places that typify Brooklyn). The waitress that served us was very nice and gave the right amount of attention.

Buenos. Cute little bakery and restaurant. Authentic and delicious pastries were my goal and this friendly little place helped. Everything tasted great and very fresh and I was very happy. I think my favorite thing was when other customers helped me pick out my order.

Yelp
Really delicious home cooked food. I only spent about $20 here including tax and tip for a very very nice dinner! Also they made the BEST beans I've EVER had.

Yelp
Ordered the Huevos de Perico for takeout. Huge portions. Comes with the Colombian style scrambled eggs, sausages, chorizo, potatoes, and rice. All very good!! Small place with seating, and you order at the counter. Very friendly!!

Yelp
Reyna De La Nube Bakery & Seafood just awesome. They have great selection of items with fair prices for what u get. Always fresh, always yummy. Everything is tasty. Workers are super helpful. They're accommodating, well-mannered and always on their game. Overall Reyna De La Nube Bakery & Seafood is great, with great people, and great vibe.

Yelp
The plate is BIGGER THAN MY FACE! Lunch Prices range from $10- $14. There was Soo much food, (almost every animal on the plate) but don't order the beef. It was very dry beef :( Watch out for new prices- their current menu is outdated, so when we paid the bill, it was slightly more than we expected.

Yelp
This little rundown shack with red, blue & yellow signage has, for my money, some of the best food in Sunset Park. I'm pretty sure the place is Ecuadorian. The meat dishes are a little pricey but if you order before 11 AM they're much cheaper. They make these amazing chicken tamales that have peanut butter in them which I've never seen before but is truly amazing when you taste it. We were addicted to these for probably three months. Again the meat & fish platters are the way to go here as they give you lots of rice, sometimes beans, and also lots of meat. I like their pork chops and veal dishes the best. Their fried plantains are quite good as well. They say they have juices and smoothies on the menu but more often than not they haven't been in stock. It's very easy to miss this place but if you look hard between Sunset Park High School on 35th & 4th Ave and the corner of 34th St. & 4th Ave. you'll see it and you won't regret going in.

Yelp
Delicious food at very modest prices, and welcoming service. No decor to speak of, but you'll be too busy enjoying your meal to notice. Absolutely fantastic homemade salsa.

Yelp
Stumbled on this place by accident- and will come back. I had the bread with the meal- soft and sweet- and a giant plate of meat, rice and plantains. Very good price as well. 15 dollars for one plate shared between two people and we were stuffed.

Yelp
I ordered the camarone algillo with white rice. Excuse the rough spelling. Shrimp in a garlic butter sauce and white rice. Awesome tenderness and flavorful dish. Recommended highly.
