Relaxed spot for Japanese udon noodles, rice bowls & small plates in a cozy space.
"Chef Mike Ransom’s breakout hit noodle bar Ima is an oasis of gluten-free options. The vegan pho, smoked salmon rice bowl, golden curry, and sake steamed clams are among several noteworthy picks from the regular menu." - Eater Staff
"Ima’s original location at 2015 Michigan Avenue is undergoing another evolution in time for warmer months with the opening of Summertown Fresh Bar. In an Instagram post published by the noodle shop chain’s owner chef Mike Ransom on Sunday, the spot will feature fruity smoothies and juices, non-alcoholic beverages, and a limited selection of beers, wines, and sakes. The folks at Ima are accepting applications for a restaurant manager, cooks, baristas, and cashiers, as well as looking for local vendors to stock a small retail section. Ima relocated just west of the original spot in 2022, but has continued to operate the space as a special events venue and pop-up eatery called Now." - Serena Maria Daniels
"Ima’s original Corktown location has just what solo diners need to enjoy its signature Forest udon, pho, and filling rice bowls without worry about making a mess in front of company: plentiful bar seating facing the wall or window, providing intimate space that actually encourages eating alone." - Serena Maria Daniels
"Ima is a casual Japanese noodle shop in Corktown that’s perfect for a quick lunch, weeknight dinner, or after a visit to nearby Batch Brewing Company. They serve traditional bowls of udon, and rice dishes topped with everything from barbecued eel to curry, along with dumplings and jicama shell tacos that we weirdly like. Try the forest udon and if you really want to make a night out of it, opt for a sake tasting." - Sara Barron, Sam Faye
