Where To Eat on a Budget Around NYC - Eater NY

"A diner where you can end your food tour with a piece of pie, such as banana cream or cherry." - Robert Sietsema

The Battle of the Diner Pies at Remedy Diner - Eater NY

"The champion pie purveyor turns out to be the modernist Remedy Diner on the Lower East Side, where the sprawling interior channels a 1960s vibe in every detail, but the traditional menu has been expanded to include goat cheese and beet salad, Baja fish tacos, and a salmon BLT in addition to the usual diner fare. The restaurant serves seven types of pie and I order all of them. My order astonished the waiter, who had to bring the manager over to verify that I was serious. Well, these pies were not the greatest in the world — few can survive long entombment in the refrigerator — but they were edible, and some were definitely more edible than others. Here are the pies, in order of preference. All slices of pie were $5.50. Apple pie: I have found this pie to be the best bet in nearly any diner. The apples survive any abuse and remain firm, whereas other fruits semi-liquify. Also, the bland apples exalt a mediocre crust, which can become almost cakey in texture. Cherry pie: Cherry pie reeks of seasonality, even though the filling is doubtlessly shaken from a can with corn starch a principal ingredient. This makes the filling wobbly in an engaging sort of way, and the cherries retain a tartness, in spite of everything. And, hey, isn’t cherry the prettiest pie? Blueberry pie: This selection retains the color saturation, and the berries are small enough that they could even be huckleberries. The flavor is more subtle than the cherry slice and not so tart. Apple crumble pie: Why is this slice inferior to the plain apple pie? Well the crumb coating, if it had been just out of the oven, would have elevated the pie, but as it was, the topping became sodden in the fridge, and it couldn’t make up for bland apple filling. Banana cream pie: If anything has suffered the most in the decline of the diner pie, it is the icebox variety. Once they stood proud with their white bouffant of what was often Miracle Whip. And it wasn’t unusual for a diner to have banana cream, coconut cream, lemon meringue, chocolate, key lime, peanut butter, and others. Now, the pies are rarely offered, and the actual filling shrunk to almost nothing, though the few slices of banana inside bravely soldier on. Pecan pie: This broken-down slice of pie finds the pecans mushy and receding into the corn syrup filling, and, even worse, the pie tastes slightly of orange rind, which is not what one expects in a slice of pecan pie. Key lime pie: The color was right, but when I bit down into the first bite, it had the texture of cheesecake and no — Key or otherwise — lime flavor." - Robert Sietsema

Four people, Sunday 10:30AM-ish, we beat the brunch crowd. When I asked the hostess for a window seat since we were tourists, she brought us across the restaurant to the corner window, so kind. The food arrived quickly and was very good, prices were not exorbitant. Plenty of breakfast options including eggs Benedict with crab cakes!!! So good! Would definitely go again.

great diner! 24/7. Nothing much to write here —If you know, you know American Diners. 24/7 always open. kind of a rare thing to see now a days. Near by my kitchen! i’ll be back! Good coffee! Will be back for a burger or two!

Quickly sat on a Saturday which was a plus. Extensive menu however the prices are bananas for the food offerings. Some basic eggs, hashbrowns, toast, bacon will run you $14 with an extra $7.50 for 3 gray sausage links. The sausage links taste how they look when you cut into them— gray & weird. The eggs & hashbrowns desperately needed seasoning so best believe you need salt & pepper at your table. The only saving grace was the chicken & waffles which was great but oddly had a strawberry decoration syrup on the plate. You pay at the front, the server won’t tell you that until he’s passed you 1638 times.

Waitress Johanna with the colorful dreads, the fact that you accosted my group of 6 for not ordering more than 4 items is AWFUL. Especially when our party was in at 1 am, and still celebrating our Bride to be’s bachelorette evening- WHICH YOU KNEW FROM THE GET GO. The fact that you even tried to make us feel bad for not ordering more food because “the bus boys need to be paid” is RIDICULOUS. There were tables EMPTY all around us. What happened to kind service? Would never recommend this place to anyone. And Johanna, fix your terrible attitude.

I asked the waiter before my friend and I ordered if they have /serve old fashioned french toast and he quickly said yes. I got excited because I just came from the Kellogg diner in Williamsburg, and they said they don't make old fashioned french toast (which is regular sliced white bread dipped in the batter/mixture)! The waiter comes back after 5mins and said that they don't have what I ordered. I asked what happened and another waiter told me the chef will not make my old fashioned french toast because it's just one order and he won't make more of the batter. He said they have French toast with the challah bread and that it is already pre-soaked!!!! I didn't even get anything else to eat because of that. They brought my friend's food out right after he told me that, so we couldn't even just leave. There was no attempt at compensation for my inconvenience except to ask if I wanted something else, which why would I if the chef can pick and choose what they make. The pic is of my friend's chicken from his chicken and waffle, he didn't he touch it because it was over cooked and hard.

Classic diner with more than decent fare. Lovely staff, lots of choices. Beware, portions are humongous.

Forget about queues, and come to this place! It was recommended to us by a local, and is fantastic! Well priced, great diner decor and excellent food. Well worth the visit!

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday morning it was not too packed but wasn't empty either. We were seated right away and the service was attentive and prompt. The Maryland eggs Benedict was ok. I wish they put more hollandaise sauce but the hot sauce helped too. The cafe mocha double was delicious. I tried my daughter's buttermilk pancakes and they were fluffy and delicious. I would definitely return and recommend those in the area to check them out as well.

Yelp
A TALE OF A DRY PITA AND DRESSING-LESS SALAD "Gyro sandwich served with french fries and a Greek salad." Does that sound appetizing to you? It certainly sounded appetizing to me last night when my friend and I found ourselves in Remedy Diner for some late night drunk food. To my surprise, the waiter brought me out a plate of the below: --A pita with three flat-sausage shaped beef patties and nothing else (no sauce, no tomatoes, no tzatziki - when I told my Greek friend about this, he audibly gasped) --A handful of soggy, undercooked steak fries --And most alarmingly, a Greek salad with ABSOLUTELY NO DRESSING. That salad was drier than the pickup lines I use at 2 AM after a few too many drinks. I was this close to putting ketchup on the pita and salad to wetten things up. I know it's a diner so I have to manage my expectations, but Jesus guys. Would it kill you to put a spoonful of vinaigrette on that son of an onion?

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by just because we were craving dessert, but I wish we had just gone somewhere else. I ordered a tiramisu and he got a pecan pie. I don't know what this was, but it was definitely not a tiramisu. Probably some of the worst desserts I've ever had. The place gets 2 stars just because it was cute inside. I do wonder if the actual food is good though, so take my review with a grain of salt. Just based on these 2 items.

Yelp
Over priced for the taste of the food. The crab cake Benedict was the worst I have ever eaten and I'm a crab cake lover being from Washington D.C. and living in Florida. Hash browns were bland to have so many other ingredients. First and last time here . Over priced with no taste

Yelp
Stopped by Remedy diner after celebrating a friends birthday a few blocks away. My friends raved about how great this diner is so we decided to go. Its gives more like an Italian restaurant than a diner; which i thought was pretty cool. The staff were okay; It was 1 in the morning so their energy was pretty low. We got a seat quickly and within a few minutes someone was over to get our drinks order. The server did forget one of my friends drink so we had to remind them. I ordered the philly cheese steak and that was not the be choice. The beef was tough, dry, thick and no seasoning at all. There was barely any cheese or onions & peppers. It didn't taste anything like I thought. The onion rings were delicious, thick and crispy. My friends ordered a cheese burger and the chicken parm, both said their dish was good. So maybe it was just what I ordered that wasn't good. Overall, Remedy was clean, semi fast service and had a lot of options to choose from on the menu. Just dont choose the philly cheese steak.

Greg C.

Yelp
The only thing worse than the food was the service. The food was barely edible and the waiter was nowhere to be found. Avoid at all costs!

Yelp
I met with friends for breakfast at Remedy diner, early on a Saturday morning. Remedy is a cute diner and at just past 730AM, it was nearly empty. I sat drinking really good cups of coffee while waiting for my friends to arrive. When they arrived we ordered a round of mimosas. The mimosas were full of bubbly and very tasty. They were served with sweet orange slices to decorate the glass but I enjoyed nibbling on them. With very positive intentions for my health, I ordered the protein breakfast. This consisted of fried egg whites, a grilled chicken cutlet, spinach and tomatoes. Everything about this meal was blah, bland, basic. I incorrectly assumed that the protein breakfast was an omelet. It was not. Each food item was just slapped on the plate with no attention to presentation. There weren't any flavors to speak of. I was very annoyed by the grape tomatoes. Several of them cooked whole and just scattered around my plate. Poor food choice on my part. My friends ordered a cheeseburger and fries special which looked really yummy. The portion was big enough to share, which they did. I went to wash my hands and the restrooms are a foul situation. Personal stalls that definitely aren't checked throughout the day. The conditions inside each stall were p*ss*, smudged, funky- filthy! Remedy diner is cool enough though. I would eat there again if I had an event to attend in that area.

Yelp
Came here after we couldn't get into Clinton St. but it was a satisfying alternative. It is a classic diner with decent food and huge portions. We got the pancakes and French onion soup to share and that was more than enough for two people. The pancakes were huge and fluffy. The French onion soup was not too bad for the price. The service wasn't too bad either. Everyone was friendly, but it was a little slow. That was likely because it was busy while we were there. The vibe was very much a classic diner so if that's what you like I definitely recommend.

Yelp
My wife and I were on our way to a restaurant for brunch, which turned out to be "booked and no longer taking reservations!" (How does someone say that with a straight face, while there were about half-dozen or more empty tables behind them) but more importantly, a blessing in disguise, as we turned around and headed to this gem we found on our way to the other location! Let me start by saying this is one of the best diner's in NYC! The ambiance has a classic/retro diners feel, is clean, with staff that promptly engaged us as we walked in! I don't mind making reservations, but when it comes to a hearty breakfast/brunch, I love being told, "How many? Right this way!" Their food was DELICIOUS and HEARTY! Just take a look at the pics! It was cold outside, but so cozy inside we didn't want to leave! And by the way, the servers were so nice! They didn't hound us, but came around at the right times to refill our coffee and/or remove our empty dishes allowing us some time to breathe after such a huge meal for a really, really good price! We'll definitely be back to this beauty! See you soon!

Yelp
Terrible. Really shitty diner food. I wouldn't go back. Huge menu with lots of options, but the food was greased and not tasty. And it's not cheap either.

Yelp
I visited Remedies Diner on 245 east Houston St street this afternoon with my son, and was disappointed with the service. When I noticed that the silverware was dirty, I requested plastic utensils. The waitress asked me to wait while she spoke to her boss. The boss then came out and, in a high-pitched voice, informed us that plastic utensils are only provided for takeout orders. His tone was rude and passive-aggressive, which made me feel embarrassed in front of the other diners. I would not recommend this place due to the poor treatment we received over a simple request for clean utensils. I never heard of this law before can somebody tell me what is going on!

Yelp
Attractive, traditional diner decor in two spacious adjacent dinng rooms: metal edged linoleum tables, lots of chrome. So why so empty at weeknight dinner time? Service spotty. Servers untrained and apparently uneducated. No graciousness, perfunctory. Food OK but appetizers have meager servings. Does not give separate checks -- only wanted two. Does not take two credit cards to split the one check. So one couple has to have enough cash on hand. Meh! Reasons not to eat at this well-located place.

Charlotte S.

Yelp
The food is great, the staff are so nice, and even though it's usually packed I always get seated immediately. I love the waffles but don't love the homefries.

Jocelyn B.

Yelp
Possibly the worst brunch I've ever had. People are nice enough, thus two stars instead of 1. Had the crab benedict--i think the side was hashbrowns. (Pure mush.) Good music selection though. So you know, upsides.
google avatar

Yelp
Came in for an early morning snack (3am). The food is good, if you can get service. There was plenty of staff circulating but we had difficulty getting anyone's attention to take our order. The service made me hesitant so I placed an order for french fries. The fries were actually good. If you can get your bill, you pay at the front.
google avatar

Ashton L.

Yelp
Completely over priced, always late, always a disappointment, will never take responsibility for their errors in orders or time
google avatar

Bruno M.

Yelp
5/10, nothing to write home about Service: for a place so busy the service was actually pretty fantastic and the staff is attentive. Ambience: what diner is like from the movies hat you see. I actually really enjoyed it and felt it had an authentic vibe Food: the lowest scoring section. I ordered a burger and it was just okay the mushrooms could've been sautéed more, it's extra for lettuce and tomato, the fries were okay, not super seasoned. Overall; wouldn't come back. There are better places with better food worth less calories
google avatar

Sandra S.

Yelp
We went to this diner and did not regret it. An outstanding breakfast! We originally wanted to go to Clinton St. Bakery, but it had a two hour wait so we decided to give this place a try. It did not disappoint. The buttermilk pancakes, waffles, and french toast were fluffy and delicious, and the bananas and blueberries were fresh (not compote from a can!). We were seated immediately and after placing our order it arrived fast (as you would expect from a diner!). The ambiance was a classic diner - big booths, great food, good vibes. We highly recommend this hidden gem!
google avatar

Sharon W.

Yelp
I mostly wouldn't come back. First the burger the buns are kinda hard even for the kids so it's hard to bite for the kids. Not sure why they did it that way. Then if you use credit card, there's also a fee for using that and their machine won't let you do custom tip so guess you will be tipping more than you like.

Yelp
It was past midnight and I had just come out of my friend's 40th birthday party at Sour Mouse. I had worked up an appetite from dancing all night and thanks to google, I found this 24-hour diner. When we got there, it was quite packed and people looked like they were enjoying their food in this classic-looking diner. Reminded me of the diner in Archie's comics so that's how I knew that the food was going to be good. The waiter greeted us like it wasn't a late shift for him and provided us with a menu right away. They had a little of everything in the menu...from burgers to lobster bisque and Southern delights. I ended up ordering New Orleans Chicken and Shrimp. The sauce was so good that my sister said that it tasted just like how they make it on New Orleans. I also had a bottle of black cherry, which was made of sugar cane. A meal is not complete until you've had dessert and I made sure to order a slice of lemon merengue pie, which I've been craving for awhile. It was so creamy and yummilicious. By the way, the main dish was so much food that I had to take the rest home...so it was basically my breakfast on a Sunday. So if you find yourself in the neighborhood after a night out of living la vida loca, then make sure you stop by Remedy's Diner.
google avatar

Joann B.

Yelp
My friend and I wanted a super laid back atmosphere and Remedy was a great decision. I had wanted to try the desserts, but didn't have any room after dinner. We ordered the tacos (3), and the tex mex burger w/ fries. The tacos were pretty simple. They were carne asada with some diced onions and cilantro that were served with some lemons. The tacos weren't too small, so if you have a big appetite, you may want to order a side dish. The burger was larger than expected and was more than filling. I opted the deluxe version, which came with lettuce and tomato. With those two items and the avocado, the burger became quite a big bite. There was pepper jack melted on the burger, but half of my bites weren't peppery. The fries were fresh as well and I was happy to get to try their house made ranch dressing. My first taste of the dressing seemed a little sweet, but the more I ate, the more I liked it and could have bought a whole bowl full if you asked. :) The service was good, we weren't rushed out or provided with stares if we stayed too long. Remedy is also a good place to catch up with friends. There's no loud music to cause you to shout to your friends or other crowds to compete with for space.
google avatar

Sacheen V.

Yelp
Was in the neighborhood and the kid was hungry so we stopped here. Service was good. Quiet setting. Not a busy time for them. She ordered a cheese burger and I had the French onion soup. Burger was delicious according to her. In my opinion could've used a little salt. But not bad. Diner burger. Onion soup wasn't the worst I've had. And wasn't the best. Just mediocre. I mean it's a diner in Manhattan on the lower east side. Not too shabby. If you're ever on this side of town and want a quick bite .. stop on in.
google avatar

Eden M.

Yelp
The cake was bad it tasted terrible it looked very pretty but it's very disgusting but the turkey bacon was very good. My dad let me try it. He ordered it and I tried it. I had to get another order because that's how bad it tastes the cake.

Sarah O.

Yelp
Willy and Mama took the best care of my friend and I while we visited. They were so kind and made the entire experience enjoyable. The food was delicious and quick. I would definitely get the chocolate milkshake, popcorn shrimp and mozzarella sticks again!! The mozz sticks were HUGE and so worth it. It was cozy inside and a good escape from the cold!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
They are well staffed and have patience with folks like me. The food always good! I love visiting when in the city. Breakfast always recommended but for a heavy meal the Hot Open Turkey!

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Horrid. The hostess literally THREW the menu on the table and walked off with a whole attitude.. 20 minutes later we ordered and once we got our food (asked for first up first out) we never saw the server again. Had to ask 2 people for the tab. Had to box our own leftovers because everyone was so rude and were just over it by that point. We tipped cash on the table and went to pay the check up front as is their policy... they tried to charge me more than what my check said, and then yelled "DID YOU TIP?!". To which I pointed to the cash I left on the table (which was 30%)... as someone who is in this industry, get it together. I send people there all the time, never again.
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
I like it here. Nuce looking classic diner with high ceilings, large windows, open 24 hours and eith standard diner fare. Not enough diners these days. I wish there were more.

Hassandra T.

Yelp
Food was burnt and server was really rude to me and my friends for no damn reason the lady had orange locks and was disgusting the whole time won't be returning it's sad that your own people will treat you horrible !!!!

Edward F.

Yelp
What an absolute TERRIBLE experience. To begin with they didn't want to seat us at a booth although many booths available. We ordered two orders of Eggs Benedict and one order of toast. They only brought one order out because the waitress only ordered one order. She forgot to place the two orders. The eggs benedict were cold and hard. Since when do eggs benedict get served hard. The butter package provided with toast was open and had been used. That's just disgusting. When we left the cashier asked 'why no tip?'. Seriously? The place is just TERRIBLE

Nikkol C.

Yelp
The food is your average diner food. The chicken pop pie was a little too salty and the chicken was dry. The disco fries were actually pretty fire. It doesn't look the best but don't let that cloud your judgement. The German chocolate cake was waayyyy too sweet and that's coming from someone who loves sweets. The Carrot Cake was amazing, would come back just for it. The service was questionable. They seemed very busy so I don't blame them for forgetting some things. We had to call them over many times to refill the water because the food was either too sweet or salty, but overall they were pretty attentive .

P K.

Yelp
They charge you $4 per topping here for pancakes which is absurd. Ordered chocolate chip banana pancakes and they only put them on top of the pancake. Extremely overpriced and not good.

Adolfo L.

Yelp
Horrible experience, we got sat right away, as there were no empty tables, and we asked to sit near the window. Server told us angrily, you sit where I tell you, not where you want. We decided to leave based on his service alone, but while we were walking out they pushed us out of the way, after a group that was supposedly dining and dashing. They made a big deal about it, just to turn out that they had paid. Please never come here based on the service alone.
google avatar

Annalissa C.

Yelp
Honestly a really solid diner. I was really impressed with the food for the price and the area. My fiancée and I stopped in after we couldn't get a table at Clinton St and were not disappointed. We were seated immediately even though it was pretty busy. Our food came quick and everything was hot. I got 3 pancakes for $13 which is really not bad. We added sausage to share. The pancakes were light and fluffy with a good flavor. The sausage was also really good. It was a little loud inside because it was busy, but otherwise no complaints. Stop here next time you're in the area for some breakfast food!
google avatar

Leah F.

Yelp
Got seated fast on a Sunday around 11:15. The coffee was good but I don't think there was much actual caffeine in it. The omelet and hash browns were also okay. Our server was very nice too. Nice place for a hungover breakfast
google avatar

Cat M.

Yelp
I know the grilled chicken Caesar salad is expensive ... $18.51 - but it's usually worth it ... I'm a local bartender only a block away from the diner .. I order when I work a day shift. I ordered the salad and hot chocolate with whipped cream - it was a 10oz cup not filled , no whipped cream and I was charged $4 for it ... are you kidding me ?? The salad had dead looking lettuce in it ... This nonsense came out to $25 - not including tip
google avatar

Shelly B.

Yelp
After a long travel day and my friends and I were starving and this was one of the places that was open nearby. I ordered the burger with egg and it came with fries and a pickle. Maybe I was starving, but the burger was great and the fries were fresh. Service can be a bit subpar as we tried the flag down our waiter and he was no where to be seen so it took us awhile to get our bill. The place is pretty big as it has booths and tables on both sides of the restaurant, and it's open 24hrs. I think I would come again if it was late night and I wanted a hot meal.
google avatar

Isabella S.

Yelp
Some things are definitely better than others on the menu. Came here super late night and I was glad that they were open 24/7. Started with mozz sticks and chicken quesadillas which were good. Friend ordered the Gemeli Alla Bolognese which I would never order from a diner, but she was hopeful after the apps were good. It was horribleeee..they left huge chunks of onions/peppers in the sauce and it had a weird taste to it. Would definitely never order that again. Sister and I split the penne vodka with chicken which was fine. I would return but would skip ordering pasta dishes lol.

Johnny T.

Yelp
Very bad food very bad drink very bad service. Inattentive. Bloody Mary tasted bad. Undercooked hash browns. Old burnt bread on eggs Benedict.
google avatar

Jazmine G.

Yelp
Good diner on weekends for lunch or breakfast. The portions are big - pancakes are so fluffy and good! Usually can get a table for 2 right away, the menu has alot of options.
google avatar

Vinson V.

Yelp
This average diner has become completely suboptimal now thanks to the owner's new policy of a) NO separate checks, b) only one or two credit cards accepted PER table, no matter how large the group or how busy the diner is ...and 3) charging an extra 4% for us just to even USE our credit cards! I feel bad for the manager who's responsible for implementing these bullshit policies, but he DOES have the flexibility to charge more than two credit cards with a large group but chose NOT to with our large group tonight. So in the end: he gets one star, too! Essentially, if you're a restaurant that doesn't bother extending the courtesy of splitting the tab with as many credit cards as your customers need while charging that bullshit 4% fee to even USE our credit cards, you deserve to go out of business. I urge all readers to avoid this place; the owner is an asshole. The service was fine and our waitress received a good tip. She was lovely. The manager should have shown more flexibility - the restaurant was NOT busy; it was half full. LAME! Overall: ZERO stars and I would NEVER recommend this place. NEVER STEP FOOT into this place, is what I am going to do. Our group dumped over $500 into this owner's pockets and left us all with bad tastes in our mouth (not to mention how average this diner food tastes). Good riddance!
google avatar

Gary N.

Yelp
Can you believe this is $16? Well, it's not. They charged me $21 for this. $16 dollars for eggs and a choice of meat (ham or bacon) is absurd. Even more absurd is that they charged me extra for the bacon, which is included in the meal! Really starting 2024 on the wrong foot, my family and I will never be returning. Really ruined our sons first New Year's Eve breakfast. Thanks a lot.
google avatar

William W.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast. Food is terrible. You can get better potatoes at a gas station. Fruit parfait was disgusting. Omelets also disgusting. I didn't think it was possible to mess up potatoes this bad but it was thr same on both of our plates. Tried talking to the owner about this to see if we could get the food remade, he resourted to gaslighting us and telling us we have never had potatoes before and that it's because we're not from New York (my entire family is from NYC). Do not go here, you will get sick.
google avatar

richard o.

Yelp
Went for a birthday dinner and it was a horrible experience to say the least. Firstly, there was hair in my scrambled eggs. In 2024 how hard is it to wear a hairnet? Secondly, my friend ordered chocolate chip pancakes and they forgot to put the chocolate chips. Lastly, they refused to spilt checks. We had to have one person pay for everything which was very disruptive to our dinner. The manager got into a screaming fight and was disrespectful. Bad food, bad management, and bad standards of cleanliness. A recipe for an awful restaurant and that's exactly what remedy diner is. Please save yourself the money, fighting, and hair, and go somewhere else.
google avatar

Brooke K.

Yelp
Good diner in the LES. I've been here plenty of times, but never wrote a review. Food portions are big, what you would expect from a diner. I've never had a bad meal and they are open late. I'm not sure if 24 hours, but they may be. I'm writing this review about their chocolate cake though. it's so so good. I usually go to little cupcake bake shop bcus it's the only one I can think of when i'm craving chocolate cake, but the chocolate cake here blows that one out of the water, and it's cheaper! I highly recommend the cake when you come! it's moist and flavorful and keeps well if taken home to eat the next day.
google avatar

Ron B.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the ambiance. The food is basic at best. Service is non-existent. For a chicken sandwich, you'd be better at KFC any day. A Buffalo Chicken Wrap - barely any chicken and what was there was over-breaded. If you're so hungover, you can still can find better.

Yelp
Late-night food and a beverage of your desire - pure NYC. It used to be that you went to L'Express, which was better, and French - but aside from the Uber rides, this place is nice - late-night Uber is really expensive.

Yelp
The diner was a perfect spot to meet up with my friend after a workout. It was a casual retro interior and the a friendly staff. The Rueben was so yummy and well portioned. The portion sizes and the prices are so reasonable! These are the cheapest diner food you can get in the city for good quality too. The carrot cake I would skip though. The desserts looked good but mine was a little stale.

Yelp
Worst tuna melt I've ever had. I'm not even going to dignify it by describing where it went wrong. You know what you did

Yelp
Not great experience all around sadly. We came in because the breakfast place we wanted to go to had a long wait and we wanted to go somewhere warm. We were quickly seated as a group of 7, which probably wasn't the best sign given all the other places around had a wait. We ordered drinks and then probably waited 20 minutes before we saw the waiter again. We had to ask the hostess to send the waiter to our table. We finally ordered, food came out quickly which was nice, and it was just lack luster. The French omelette was okay, but had like 1 inch chunks of scallion in it that wasn't pleasing. The hash browns were not very crispy. The best thing that someone ordered was probably the pancakes and French onion soup. All in all not a memorable experience and I wouldn't come back.
