Tampa Bay Bars and Restaurants Serving Astral Tequila | Eater

"Renzo’s is a little slice of Argentina in downtown St. Pete (though you’ll also find locations in Carrollwood and South Tampa, too), where you can sample varieties of South American beef, all butchered in-house. It’s a chance to branch out from your usual steak order and try the parilla, an assortment of specialty charcoal-grilled cuts served with sausages and chimichurri. Before you get lost in the sea of malbecs, start the experience off with a pomegranate margarita, made with Astral Reposado, homemade pomegranate molasses, triple sec, lime, and a pomegranate rim." - Matthew Meltzer

I came to this restaurant with an Argentinian friend. I have to say that the Churrasco was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The roasted potatoes were very very good....i cant give it 5 stars because the service was not the best. First they brought the meat and about 3 4 minutes later they brought the accompaniment The waiter left and didnt offered more drinks. All an all good food not so good service.

Went for a quick happy hour before dinner plans. Great menu and cocktail list. Bartenders were really into their craft and you could tell they enjoyed it! Drinks were DELICIOUS!

Renzo’s made me feel extra special for my birthday. Amazing wine selection and my favorite place to split a steak with my boyfriend. Awesome healthy sides and the dessert menu is absolutely phenomenal.

Google
Excellent food. Steak, shrimp, and veggies cooked perfectly. Waiters were attentive. Seating outside is gorgeous. Highly recommend!

I’ve been coming to Renzos for years and cannot say enough good things about the place. Everyone who works here is friendly and the food has only gotten better. There’s not many places in st. Pete where you get this kind of warmth & international vibe, it’s actually the only place in town I feel comfortable going solo and grabbing a bar seat & having a glass of wine. I love bringing people here who have never been before and showing them this gem. Had the margarita and pork belly just Friday for date night and it was out of this world. Thanks for existing Renzos ❤️ pics are from out the years.

Google
The filet was good. The Churrasco was excellent! The empanadas were bland, the corn side didn’t taste good. Chewy. Not fresh corn. The spinach side was good. And the table water wasn’t filtered. Service was good. I was hoping to rave about this place. Great steak though!

Our first visit was amazing, which is why we decided to return. Unfortunately, our second experience was disappointing. The meat did not taste fresh, was tough, and seemed to have been reheated. It was not the quality we expected, especially from an Argentine restaurant known for its BBQ. Sadly, our group of four left unsatisfied. We truly hope the restaurant can maintain the high standards that made our first visit so great, but based on this experience, we won’t be returning.

The dark-haird gentleman was extremely professional and generous in serving me today. I ordered the New York strip and a small caesar salad. He knows how to treat his guests like a million bucks All best, Clayton.

Yelp
It's been over 5 years since I last reviewed Renzo's in St Pete. I'm delighted to report it's as stylish and delicious as ever. Went in with a buddy on a Wednesday early in the evening. We were the first customers in following the end of their daily happy hour, and we took seats at the bar. There, we enjoyed phenomenal service from our bartender, Rufino, who introduced us to their wonderful selection of Old Fashioneds on their cocktail menu. We tried two of the three, and for my money the Grand Olde Fashioned stood out as the most flavorful and enjoyable, thanks to a surprising ingredient: foie gras. Try it for yourself if you love whiskey cocktails - it will not disappoint. As for food, we enjoyed some croquetas and sausages from the tapas menu before ordering mains. The croquetas, filled with a chicken and béchamel sauce pâté, blended old world flavor with the crunch of croquettes from Latin America. Of the sausages, my favorite was the Chorizo Picante, which has some real kick, but their morcilla was also impressive -- earthy and sweet, which I was not expecting at all. Renzo's makes their sausage in-house, so do not miss an opportunity to try them all. Finally, for mains my friend ordered the Steak Salad, which came with a generous portion of picanha, while I ordered the Milanesa Supreme, an elevated take on a Latin American classic, bistec empanizado. Both were perfectly cooked and artfully presented. Can't go wrong with either if you choose to try them. So once again, Renzo's delivered a memorable experience from start to finish. Happy to recommend them and can't wait for my next visit.

Yelp
We had great service. Our Sunday evening dinner made for a great time to be here with our kids too. The food was delicious. I enjoyed the fish but my fave was the cheese appetizer. It's a nice interior space too.

Yelp
Made our first visit to Renzo's and we were impressed! I tried a dry aged bone-in ribeye and found it to be perfect. Cooked to the ordered temperature, amazing flavor and tenderness. The whipped potatoes and yucca fries were delicious too. Service was great on a quiet Sunday night. Lively design, comfortable seating, outdoor options if desired. All around great experience!

Yelp
Honestly very solid 2.5/3 stars Everything we ordered was a 6/10 It wasn't bad by any means, but everything was just missing... something Octopus needed salt, my steak was a tough, burger was ok. It was just a very "meh" experience. I wouldn't say I regret it, but for $300 for 4 of us I'd probably choose somewhere else for next time

Yelp
The server was very polite and accommodating during our table service. The restaurant is for celebrating special occasions. The grilled octopus was a nice slightly crisp starter that was a decent size which should be shared. The chickpeas went well with it. In order to try Argentinian barbecue, can't go wrong with beef parrilla although I think it came out more medium than the medium rare I ordered. The best side dish for us was the fried yucca as it was nicely salted and crisp. The aoili was very pleasant on the palate. Since all desserts are made in house, going with something not easily available such as coconut bienmesabe is the perfect ending to a wonderful meal with a great friend. And the espresso martini paired well with this sweet coconut dessert.

Yelp
Great location in downtown st. Pete The charcuterie board had a good portion and selection of meats, however the cheese selection was good but portions were surprisingly small. Also it was odd there were no bread or crackers with it. The steak was excellent. I definitely recommend getting something from the steak menu. It was served with chimichanga sauce. We ordered it medium rare it was Cooked perfectly. Also enjoy the mashed potatoes.

Yelp
Came here on valentines with the wifey. As we walked in I could smell the sizzling shrimp they were cooking. The inside is feels smooth. It's decorated very nicely. The staff were very kind but it's maybe the cooks that screwed up a few things. For example they served us a picante Argentine sausage with a piece of hair on it. They ran out of beef empanadas and chicken empanadas too. We got the picante sausage, all beef parilla, a wine and cocktail and for dessert the flan. As I said before we were disappointed with the sausage because of the hair but they did give us a new one which looked just like the old one but without the hair. The all beef parilla was a mixture of different kinds of beef cuts. They were very delicious. The flan was okay. Super tiny. Overall our experience was good. Meat quality was average. I think it was overpriced for what we got. Definitely a great place for meat lovers tho. Giving them a 3.5.

Yelp
Huge fan of Renzo's. And for so many good reasons too. The two times we've visited we were sat at the bar without any wait time and greeted with waters immediately. If you're looking for quality and authentic Argentinian steak and wine, stop scrolling. The service is top notch and it does not go unnoticed. Let me elaborate.. The manager went out of his way to provide contact info for a car service during our Argentina vacation in a few months. He absolutely did not need to do that but he did. Let's talk about the eats. Filet medallions are spot on and a great starter of French fries topped with chunks of filet smothered in a herb butter. So much yes. Both times I've ordered their skirt steak recommended medium and wow wow wow. Cooked to perfection and juicy as ever both times and a must order. Maybe one day I'll try the rest of the menu but until then the above will suffice.

Yelp
This restaurant gets all of the details right! From the vibe to the knowledgeable staff down to the chilled beer glasses. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. The service is excellent; very friendly and thorough. I have only been for happy hour (Monday- Friday 5-7) but that HH menu has great deals. Both the filet and salmon montado were fantastic. Would order both again. The happy hour ceviche was a great portion. Few ceviche dishes include octopus, which was great to try. I didn't necessarily love the octopus because it's better cooked than ceviche style. But that's just my preference. The rest of the ceviche was very good, and the plantain chips were an interesting and welcome addition to try. Can't wait to try here again for a full dinner.

Yelp
I loved how flavorful the burger was omg so freaking good I just wish the patty wasn't so thick but honestly tasted so good! The ambiance and service was good . I wish the menu was lil bigger with some more variety but overall a good experience and the spin on steak frites was good but give people more fries guys!

Kelsey G.

Yelp
Amazing service! Food was excellent, will definitely go back! Rack of lamb cooked to perfection. Best empanadas I have ever had

Yelp
Came here for Valentine's Day with a reservation at 5pm when we got there, it was already busy inside. The inside dining is quite small. This place was okay but I think it could've been better. Has a lot of room for improvement. One thing I'd say that needs to be improved is the outside dining situation. It is literally the side walk, and has a very poor lighting. I don't really recommend eating outside for dinner, unless you go there before 7pm for early dinner. Our service was great, and the staff were nice. I also recommend making a reservation before coming in, because the inside seating goes out fast. The food was good. we ordered the All Beef Parilla. However, even with the 4 small pieces of fired charcoal underneath the tray, our food still got super cold quick.. the Picante sausage was good as well, but it was not as spicy as I expected it to be. The flan was okay, although our server told us it didn't have the "gelatin" texture to it, it definitely had that. It wasn't pure milk and eggs typa flan. Don't expect the nice, silky and smooth creamy texture. Overall, this place is okay.. maybe or maybe not I'll give it another go

Yelp
Very disappointed with the service! I specifically noted that we were celebrating my wife's birthday on my reservation. No mention of it from anyone there! I hope this was the waiters first week because he was awful. We had to send our steaks back because they weren't cooked correctly (raw instead of medium rare) but he never came back to the table. We had to ask another waitress for help. She was fantastic. Someone else brought them back. No one ever mentioned it again! Only time the waiter talked to us was when we asked for the bill.

Yelp
Went to St. Pete this past week and came across Renzo's. I really like Argentinian food, because it really is a lot like Italian food with much better steak. I've been to Buenos Aires 2x and fell in love with the food! The decor was very nice and I was extremely impressed at the level of service, knowledge of the food and of course the food itself. (not common these days) Our server was really knowledgable about the wine selection and boy was she spot on. I had the rib eye and my wife had the stuffed ravioli and WOW. Both were amazing and the wine complimented them perfectly. For desert we had Tiramisu and Chaja (the latter Renzo's signature desert). Man o man was that ever amazing. Anyone visting St. Pete looking for a nice dining experience (great for a date night) I highly reccomend Renzo's. Note: Not a flip flop and shorts place for cheap eats.
google avatar

Rob C.

Yelp
Seriously, what a gem. Claudio puts a lot of passion and thought into the menu, the staff is really nice, and they have such great food. It's not a big, massive steakhouse like Urban, it's not stuffy like Rococo. It's just a great place to have really good cocktails, wine, and seafood or steak. The quality is always top notch. By far the best steakhouse in St. Pete.

Steve G.

Yelp
The food was good. No doubt about that. The service is absolutely horrible. The owner is cutting corners on the staff and it affects the entire experience. We were a large party and there was another large party there as well as regular diners. They had one bartender, one food runner and one lady taking orders. They could not service everyone fast enough. Took them 30 minutes to get us our 2nd round and while we were in the back, the large party up front was consistently getting their drinks served. Hire more staff. You will never succeed when you cheat your customers on service no matter how good your food is.

Yelp
We made a reset for Renzo's and we are glad we stopped in. I actually chose them just by chance as they had advertised in Google Maps. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we got there but it filled up quickly. The check-in process is a bit slower than it needed to be so it resulted in groups of people standing in the way. Renzo's is Argentinian but features a wide variety of food. They serve a lot of items tapas style. Check out their happy hour menu for sure. We had cheese in an iron skillet and it was delicious. We also had a ham and cheese empanada. It was one of the best ones I had in a long time. After appetizers we had Parilla. We went with the first one that featured steak, a pork chop, sausage, and chicken. They say it feeds two but it easily fed the three of us and you could probably do four with it. It was $50 for 32 ounces of meat so a great way to explore their offerings. Next time we would probably try the all-steak option or the wagyu. We had one of their house wines from Argentina. It was flavorful and accompanied the food well. They also have a good cocktail menu and I recommend the Paloma or black walnut Manhattan. There are a lot of different things I want to try on their menu so I look forward to coming back. Definitely check out their happy hour offerings at the bar.

Yelp
The food here is incredible! The octopus melts in your mouth, and it is by far the best I've ever had. They dust paprika all over and place next to a bed of chickpeas. The croquettes were also the best I've ever had. I'm unsure what the sauce was under, but it was perfect. It didn't make them soggy which I was afraid a sauce would do. The fra diavolo had a rich tomato cream sauce. Shrimp was cooked well and paired with lobster. Finally, the house made Caesar dressing was unbelievable. Salty from the anchovies and the croutons provided a crunch. The skirt steak had so much flavor, and they cooked it the perfect medium rare. Overall, this might be my favorite steakhouse in St. Petersburg I've been to. It did take some time for the food to come out but it was well worth the wait. The servers treat you well! Overall, this gets a 4.8/5. One of my highest rated restaurants so far.

Yelp
Made a last-minute reservation at Renzo and I must say, they do make great espresso martinis and perfectly cooked steak! Service was great and for apps, we ordered a charcuterie board and cachapa (really good!). DO NOT order the gnocchi. It was SO watered down and it literally looked like someone just microwaved it and put cheese on it. Maybe Rezno is just known for steak and not pasta dishes in my opinion. I had to send the dish back and they were nice enough to take it off the menu but again, don't recommend their gnocchi. Also, the side spinach wasn't that great either but the mashed potatoes were good. What I ordered: - CHARCUTERIE: Seasonal cheeses, cold cuts and preserves (okay but wouldn't order it again) - CACHAPA: Sweet baby corn pancake folded with melted queso blanco (must get!) - GNOCCHI: Served with grandma's tomato sauce and finished with a mozzarella au gratin (DON'T recommend getting unless you want watery gnocci) - WAGYU SKIRT STEAK $54 12oz. Renzo´s signature cut, char-grilled & smoked (must get and pick two sides!)

Yelp
Not at all impressed with this place. Had a reservation for Saturday night, when we arrived the place was around half full with just 2 people sitting at the bar. We were seated and it took our waitress a while to arrive. Once she did we were ready with our order since we'd had plenty of time to review the menu. We placed an order for 2 entrees, picanha and sea bass, and 2 drinks, a beer and a gin and soda. We waited and waited for drinks, asked our waitress and every server that passed, everyone basically shrugged. The bartender was moving at a glacial pace apparently, because 35 minutes after we ordered our food arrived, and a couple moments later we got the drinks. The beer was 2/3 full and the gin soda was something entirely different. The waitress removed the drink and returned later with a gin martini, not what I ordered but at least it was gin so I didn't mention it. We also had to send the picanha back because it was very rare and had been ordered medium well. Overall the food was mediocre and the overall experience was disappointing.

Yelp
I have never had a bad experience here. Food is excellent as is the service. Great wine list and great cocktails. My wife loved the ceviche and I had great lamb chops at our most recent visit. Large dessert menu as well.
google avatar

Derinda C.

Yelp
Yummmy! I loved everything i ordered. The food was exceptional. Our waiter was very sweet. My only suggestion is that they work on their drink menu. The variety is lacking. I loved the restaurant decor. Very chic. Over all i will return.

Yelp
Huge disappointment this time! The bartender was the best part of this dining experience. There were ample seating but they sat us at the bar because we didn't have a reservation. I don't know why because it never got crowded. The bartender was nice but the service was so so slow. The kitchen was very slow and one of the orders was a medium well steak but it came out medium rare. What are the cooks doing?! The chicken dishes are so basic and I can easily make it at home. The octopus was not what I was expecting. For $18, I got thin strips of octopus bacon like? It looked gross! Never seen octopus like that. It was also very salty and no other flavors. A party of 4 and we waited over an hour to get our food! Food was not good. Not worth it. Huge disappointment. Won't be back.

Yelp
First time here. Amazing place downtown. The steaks are excellent and the service was great. Appetizers were as ordered. Will define you be back

Steve E.

Yelp
Had diner there last night. We ordered the shrimp app, fillet app, burrata and a bottle of wine. The service and food were great. It was also a very busy night due to the boat show going on downtown. I was skeptical due to score of 3.7 stars at the time of this post. They exceeded my expectations thankfully, and I will be going back soon.

Yelp
We were looking for a quick bite prior to catching a show at the Mahaffey theater. So we popped in to Renzo's and took a seat at the bar. The bartender was great and offered me some wines to taste. I really wanted to try steak but opted for a lighter option and got a salad with grilled chicken, I ordered a small but it was still a huge portion. Also had a chance to try the tostones with the chimichurri and I highly recommend it was delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Always great food and service! My friends and I truly enjoy dining here and you will too! Make a reservation!

Yelp
Great place. Really enjoyed our meal Ceviche. Then some steaks and I got Lamb chops which if they are on the menu I order 100%. These were terrific. Perfectly cooked. The waiter had good wine recommendations and was otherwise just plain excellent. Go there. Spend some money. Enjoy yourself

Jason B.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our experience. Steaks were perfect. Had a wonderful smoky flavor. Didn't need additional seasoning. I had the filet. My husband had the Argentine steak. Starts with a c! So delicious. The corn casserole side was amazing! Benjamin was our server. Had great recommendations and was very attentive. I wasn't fan of the decor but it was all about the amazing food. Never vice. Crème brûlée dessert was burnt like it should be. Go. It's worth it. I would say that you want to have reservations. But we didn't and they made every effort to find us a table. We will definitely go back. Oh, the Merlot's delicious and the non alcoholic mixed drink was great as well.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
Awesome service and really good food. The prices are super reasonable for the amount of meat you get. I didn't love the cocktail I got, but they have a really good selection of beer and wine.
google avatar

Caroline C.

Yelp
Definitely check out the happy hour (4-6pm) tapas menu! We really liked everything we tried...we came prepared with a list :) Sitting outside between the buildings at sunset was lovely and the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. We loved the pace that all the dishes were brought out. Here's what we got... Montaditos (on crustini): Prosciutto (& olives) $3 Beef Milanesa $4 Tuna Salad $4 Pan con Tomate $3 Cold Tapas: Charcuterie $10 Hot Tapas: Medallions $10 Mar Y Tierra $10 Frito Misto $10 Asparagus $8 Shishito Peppers $7 All that plus two Stella's and iced tea (very good and refilled without having to ask) for $100 (plus tip). We thought we were done eating and then they brought out the beef milanesa and I forgot to take a photo. One more bite! We will definitely return for dinner soon!

Yelp
I must preface by saying I went with an Argentinian and as her best friend we have a high standard of Argentine food. The restaurant itself is nice inside, we chose to sit outside which I really enjoyed. We got to people watch and the weather was amazing. The whole dinner took about 3 hours, the service was very slow. Our waitress was sweet and was able to answer all of our questions. We started off with a ham and cheese and a beef empanada. The beef was my favorite the ham and cheese needed more cheese. The dipping sauce that came with wasnt the usual chimichurri sauce it was a creamy garlic aioli type of sauce, it was VERY good. We shared a 12 oz Entraña for our main course and got a side of mashed potatoes. I recommend ordering your meat medium if you want a medium rare. We ordered ours medium rare and it was pretty much rare. With that being said the meat quality is very good and as I'm eating my leftovers right now I am very satisfied, even more than when I had it at the restaurant. The mashed potatoes were not good though and I wasnt a big fan of the house salad it came with either. We got the CAIPIRINHA drink and it was not good it tasted like Costco margarita mix. We were able to switch it to A Night in Buenos Aires and it was okay very strong which is good to get our moneys worth since it was $16. We had to ask them to take the original drinks we had a sip of off and they were very accommodating and did. For dessert we got the tiramisu and the Chaja. Tiramisu was very good but we would skip the Chaja next time it was very sweet but at the same time didnt have much going on. Overall I would give this experience a 6/10 and my friend would give it a 5.

Yelp
Walk in without reservation and had no issues. Great service and food. Food was great (meat parilla). Will definitely go back.

Yelp
We went on a Wed night on a whim. Glad we did, it was fantastic. Ambiance: the decor was nicely done with plenty of seating both inside and outside. There are several seats at the nice bar as well. Service: it wasn't busy, so the service was on point. The cocktails was delicious. The watermelon tonic was tasty and refreshing. The Mauricius made with cognac and strawberry wasn't too sweet. Let's just say I had more then one We ordered the pork belly as an appetizer. The texture was similar to a soft beef jerky but that smoked and melbec glaze made you just want to eat more and more. I ordered the short ribs off the grill and not the braised short rib which tends to be super rich. The grilled short ribs was good, but it's not as tasty as some Korean or Mexican flavored short ribs. My friend ordered Corvina. It was fresh cut it was battered and fried. We wanted to try some desserts, but we were so full. We couldn't do it. Definitely worth another visit.
google avatar

Ashleigh M.

Yelp
The food was good, but the service was terrible. Our waiter was unfortunately inattentive, where we ended up refilling our own water glasses because it took so long for us to get checked on. The location didn't appear to be overly busy, and there seemed to be enough wait staff to handle the customers. Shame because the appetizers, meal, and dessert were good.
google avatar

DeAnna H.

Yelp
Ambiance 10/10 Service: my waiter was amazing, Richard and Diego took great care of me. Food was delicious only part that needed improvement was the cooking time on the octopus. But Mr Richard took care of it and Diego gave me dessert on the house. All in all a lovely dinner.
google avatar

Mashenka S.

Yelp
We took wagyu stake for share and cheese with corn bread. Wagyu stake comes with 2 sides, and we selected veggies and yuka fries. 5/5! So delicious! Corn bread with cheese inside was not really good. I don't even understand why would you put it on the menu as appetizer. It's literally smth any kid can make
google avatar

Jonathan W.

Yelp
Great service. Very accommodating to our needs but it was a Tuesday night so the number of diners was low. Empanadas were amazing. Milanesa was a good unique Argentine meal. Steak sales was very tasty.
google avatar

Dawn J.

Yelp
Staff was amazing Service was impeccable.... ambiance was great! Food was not good american red snapper so over cooked it was fishy and could of substituted as jerky. The meat platter chicken over cooked, streak well done... this place needs a new chef. This was a one and done for our group. It sucks cause we were dying to try this place and just not up to par. Oh well.

Yelp
Fabulous experience at the bar with Eric. My first time from relocating from Boston. Started with the recommended beef carpaccio, outstanding! He recommended the skirt steak, again outstanding. Paired the meat with their mashed potato's and mushrooms. A perfect meal. Finished with their signature "Chaja". Please keep this place on your radar! I didn't have the homemade empanadas because it would be too much but I can tell you that those beside me who had it raved!! Say "HI" to Eric when you visit. He truly treated me as family.

Brittany J.

Yelp
Wonderful! My boyfriend and I go all the time. We always sit at the bar, bartenders are always friendly. Great service! The one time there was a slight mix up the manager immediately came over and handled the situation. Steak is always phenomenal. We like to share the all beef parilla. Renzo's has become a date night favorite for us. If you haven't been here, check it out!

Sabrina M.

Yelp
The service was TERRRRIBLE. We were 9 people celebrating two birthdays and unfortunately the service was absolutely terrible. The food was okay, steaks were too salty, most of us couldn't finish it. And they charged us all a 22% automatic gratuity. That explains why the service is bad and why it was empty on a Saturday night. I do not recommend this place at all.

Helmut K.

Yelp
Although it shares the name and owners with the other 2 locations in Tampa, this Renzo in St Pete is run like a bar with hopes of becoming one day a trendy place. The menu is limited, they are calling themselves an Argentinian / Uruguayan restaurant but they don't have potato salad (ensalada rusa) nor tomate and lettuce to go with the meat. The quality of the beef and cuts on the parrilla was subpar compared to the other 2.restaurants in Bruce B Downs or Kennedy Ave. Desserts were like unpacked from the supermarket (Tres leches and chaja) and the offer was very limited. Adding a Wagyu cut on the menu does not make it a steak house. Need to decide whether is a tapas place or a restaurant.

Maria K.

Yelp
Worst steak I've had in a while. I got the dry aged NY strip. It was like trying to saw through wood. Based on this and the fact that there menu is mostly steak-I would not recommend this restaurant. Service and drinks were good, which is the reason for the 2 stars.

Abel O.

Yelp
Lovely place with a refined atmosphere. The food was very tasty with fine portions. The service was understandably strained since we visited during New Year's Eve, but it was still good. Overall, I'd recommend Renzo's.

Can't recommend this place as the waiter dropped extremely hot tea on my hand resulting in 2nd degree burn. They offered me ice and tomatoes. It was sooooo painful!!!

Yelp
Been here twice in 10 days because my first experience was amazing! Delicious food at a reasonable price, and loved sitting at the bar. Paul the bartender is absolutely phenomenal - the service, so friendly and just on top of everything. So, why 1 star? Because an owner threw out a patron sitting at the bar because he had a SERVICE DOG sitting with him while waiting for his takeout at the bar, even though he acknowledged knowing that this was against ADA regulation and was "willing to accept the consequences". I watched the entire situation unfold and was completely disgusted and appalled. I felt partly responsible initially because I wanted to sit all the way in the corner of the bar and kinda had to wiggle around the dog, which I wasn't comfortable doing before talking to the owner. Was in the process of doing this when the owner stormed over, told the guy that he had to leave and could not have the dog in the restaurant. The patron asked if the owner was familiar w/ ADA guidelines re: service animals, to which he said he was very aware. The owner took the dogs water bowl away, and stood a few feet away waiting to escort the patron out. I felt absolutely horrible for this patron for the way he was treated, which in my opinion was like he committed a crime. The owner apologized to me, to which I explained that it wasn't me who needed an apology, it was the disabled person that he just threw out in the most undignified way. He explained that he had received a number of bad reviews because of dogs being in the restaurant and was "willing to accept the consequences" and said "let him sue me" because it seemed more favorable to him than a negative review. The owner also explained that there was a dog in the restaurant that nearly bit someone in the past. While I can appreciate that this was a traumatic experience for the staff (as a server later explained to me), it did not warrant the HARSH AND ILLEGAL treatment of a disabled man. The owner did not offer any options other than to leave or sit outside. The staff seemed surprised as well and heard someone ask, wait so, are we not allowing service dogs now? It seems not! As such, even though I was starving, I decided to finish my wine (which the owner asked the bartender to top off) and order takeout somewhere else. Full transparency, I sure did drink that delicious wine. As delicious as the food was the first time and wonderful the bartender and servers are, I just couldn't bring myself to support an establishment that would treat a disabled person this way. I do hope management learns from this experience and takes a different approach next time. The patron asked me if I would be willing to provide a statement for a lawsuit, to which I replied absolutely, and would do so again.

Yelp
Officially been to all three Renzo's - Carrollwood, South Tampa, & and now this location in Downtown St. Pete. I can easily say this is my favorite of the three locations. It is bright, open, and clean. Our server was very welcoming and very helpful. We wanted some light bites here. We tried the matambre and potato salad for the first time. Definitely something different than we had before. It's a thin steak charcuterie with egg in the middle. It has a peppered beef kind of taste to it. The potato salad also was quite flavorful. Thankful it wasn't mustardy bc I would hate that. We also had the empanadas. The beef is better than the chicken and they are baked. I love that about Argentinian empanadas. I do think they need something more, but still satisfying. We have been to the other locations and had their full on grill where they bring the grill to the table and u get meat galore. If in the mood for that, we would definitely go back to Renzo's in St. Pete! The side walk has several tables and chairs too so that is quite ideal in the winter when you want to enjoy a perfect day in the sun! They also have some salad options and fish options as well. It's not just meat!
