Replay Beer & Bourbon Review - Lakeview - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Much like the Replays in Lincoln Park and Andersonville, this bar has fun video games, like The Simpsons and Cruis'n World, and a list of 26 beers they rotate out weekly. While the Lincoln Park location is bigger and filled with more arcade games, this one is specifically made with the queer community in mind by hiring actually queer bartenders and being a safe place to play games without the fear of harassment from anyone outside of the community. It’s also just a great place to stop by if you want to get mad at a Pac-Man machine while chugging a milk stout." - Abby Keller

Chicago’s Revolution Brewing Releases Humboldt Gator Beer - Eater Chicago

"Longtime local chef Dirk Flanigan is back working in Chicago at an arcade bar. What a fantastic restaurant! The food is both delicious and plentiful. We visited for lunch on St. Patrick's Day and had a wonderful experience. We'd definitely go back. Everything, from the food to the service, was top-notch. We tried their special St. Patrick's Day offerings: green eggs and ham with pesto eggs, and the classic Irish corned beef sandwich – every bite was a delight. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was amazing. A very comfortable and welcoming place where you can hang out and enjoy your time. Thank you, Replay!

1. The food: the burgers were delicious, although the tacos were a bit heavy to eat. 2. The atmosphere was good, very good area. 3. The service was terrible, disastrous, the waiter LUIS attended us and was quite rude, he didn't even want to take our orders, he brought us the drinks after a long time, and he always had a bad disposition to attend us, even so we were forced to leave a charge of 40 dollars to someone who really for the way he attended us did not even deserve them. And seeing that our consumption exceeded $300 dollars. I really liked the place, but because of the attention I wouldn't go back, it will be my first and last time.

Love the appetizers and drinks Try the quesabirria tacos-wish they add a little more meat but overall good spot for food and drinks

Google
10/10 would recommend! Amazing food and good beer list. Everyone I was with loved the cocktails too. And big shout out to Josh our server. We asked for our the alcohol and food to be in seperate checks and unintentionally made it very confusing and he got it sorted for us with a smile on his face. Everyone was very friendly!

I love this place. Where else can you get a full service menu, a bar with great beer and bourbon selections, and for dessert decapitate someone while playing Mortal Kombat? Everything I’ve ever eaten here is great. Brunch, salads, buffalo chicken egg rolls, nachos, cheese curds, pesto chicken wrap, burgers, etc. good portions tastefully presented. The service is quick and efficient as well. They make one of the better old fashioneds in the city - always with a big cube. Love the credit card machines that come to your table instead of the typical dreadfully long wait to pay. There is also a great outside seating area that is very dog friendly. This place is tops in my book. Flawless Victory!

Google
What a nice surprise! We came across this place when traveling didn't expect the gourmet type food we had! Service was great! I had Brussels sprouts for app and the berry burger with ricotta cheese! Fabulous!!

Google
Kitchen just can't seem to get it together. Everything else is great. The cooks seem to need more guidance. Less of leaving the cooks up to their own devices. Other than the food my experience there is great. Staff in the front is totally awesome. Kitchen staff, however , leaves ALot to be desired.

Usually have a decent time here, but just got seated and waited 10 minutes without being acknowledged. Really looking forward to a Cubano sandwich, but I guess they're not really feeling it today. Got seated, walked by a few times by various servers, watched the bartender wipe his bar over and over, and never got greeted or talked to. After around 10 minutes, I figured I'd go somewhere else. As I left, I said "have a good one" to the server who sat me (and then ignored me completely), and he was polite enough to give me a "you too." I guess I should stop by on a busier day, so they'll care. My mistake.

Yelp
Replay in Andersonville has become a staple spot for my friends and me. When you walk in, you're greeted with good, friendly service. One of the things I love most about Replay is the retro games. Whether you're waiting for your food or just feel like splurging on some nostalgic fun, the games add a great vibe to the place. The menu is always evolving, which keeps things fresh. Some of my favorite dishes have to be the Cubano sandwich, which is a different style since it's not pressed but super tasty with its smoky pulled pork. The nachos are a delight too - I usually get the salsa on the side to keep them from getting soggy. And let's not forget the wings! I love getting them naked so I can dip and try all of their tasty sauces. To top it all off, I usually wash everything down with a refreshing Aperol Spritz. It's to aid the digestion :) Will I be back? Absolutely - I've been coming since they opened! Welp! Into the next!

Yelp
I came up to Andersonville for the first time for the craft fair and the day was so lovely that it was only right to find a patio and an Aperol spritz nearby - Replay was the perfect setting! The patio was casual with plenty of tables and a good amount of shade. I was really impressed by the food too! For a pretty well rounded American menu, the food was delicious. I got a chicken Caesar wrap and it was HUGE, perfectly seasoned and the right amount of dressing. The tater tots were also perfect. I kept looking at all the food that was brought out to different tables and it all looked amazing. It was easy to just pop in on a whim for dinner on Saturday which was great compared to other restaurants nearby that had long wait times. I really enjoyed the food and the setting for a casual dinner!

Yelp
Replay is my neighborhood restaurant bar.. I love to support my local restaurants so stop by as often as possible. Service makes ALL the difference in wanting to stop by. Today I came in about 330 in the afternoon for quick bite. Blake was working and he was the epitome of friendly professional service. Not only was he pleasant and efficient with me...but he was like this with everyone he interacted with...from other customers, to the guy who walked in passing out biz cards for window washing or whatever...point being, was consistently friendly and polite to all. It motivated me to leave this review because service is NOT always to this level and he should be acknowledged. It's what makes aville so amazing. I've left replay before after less than stellar service and thought....hmmm no need to return for a bit but after watching Blake be so kind to everyone...ill def come back for mid day lunch. Thank you replay and thx Blake. It makes a difference.

Yelp
A sunny afternoon in Andersonville calls for a late lunch and drinks on the patio. Apparently, I was so hungry I failed to get a photo of the nachos. It was the perfect snack to have before joining friends for dinner. The patio was great and servers were accommodating as we added some chairs to our table so friends could join us for drinks. Great patio, great service and a wonderful spot on a sunny afternoon!

Yelp
Upon arrival we had to wait three minutes to be seated even though there was someone at the bar (who didn't acknowledge me) so that kinda got the night off to a bad start. Three minutes doesn't seem long but time it, it's a while. Anyway, things got better from there. The person who seated us let us pick whatever we wanted outside since there weren't really that many folks there at the time (we were there around 4:30 sine I had my two month old with me). We started with the fried pickles which were yummy as usual, though next time I'd grab the salt to season a bit. I ordered the jalapeño bacon burger and my companion got the curry wurst (September is Oktoberfest--servus!). Both were really good. I had never had currwurst before (neither had he) but tried a bit and it was good. The burger was really tasty, although not as spicy as I thought it might be--it really wasn't spicy at all. But it was good, and perfectly cooked, which sometimes is hard to get because I order burgers well done only. I'm happy to report it was perfectly well done. To finish we ordered the skillet chocolate chip cookie. It was my birthday so we had to get dessert! It was delicious. It came out HOT (I uploaded a video--you can see the edges bubbling!) and diving in too quick resulted in too hot a bite so be patient. And also make sure you have a bit of ice cream in your bite to cool it down. The outside seating was great. It was very comfortable seating and most or all of the tables have umbrellas for when the sun's in the air. For all but the hottest of days, you may want to bring a jacket or something; a few days before fall it was pretty cool, but luckily not so cold that I couldn't enjoy myself, having forgotten to bring a cover-up (a couple degrees cooler and it may have been, though). The patio is dog friendly as well as kid friendly, and they have special "kid-friendly hours" as well. Parking is probably a pain most of the time, but we got lucky and there was a couple spots right across the street from the outdoor seating, on Balmoral. But there may be paid parking along Clark as well and the surrounding streets. It's taken me years to finally make a stop at Replay but hopefully it won't be another few years before we come back.

Yelp
OK! Replay Andersonville is consistent! They consistently deliver on bar style food! I have only been disappointed once with the spicy chicken egg roll. Then only time! Otherwise, keep it up y'all! Drinks are there! Huge beer list. They keep it fun and the workers are busy but they will get to you! They nailed with the outdoor seating when Covid-19 hit and the additional outdoor space during the summer is perfect!

Yelp
Bad vibes and broken games :( This place used to be a gem and one of my favorite spots in Andersonville, but I'd have to be dragged back after how lame this last visit was. Go spend your money at a real arcade (or even just a different bar where the staff might actually make you feel welcome).

Yelp
I was seated fast by the hostess. Outside on a beautiful evening. It took a while before the server showed up but he straight from the beginning said sorry for the wait. The menu is a modern American menu with dinner stable appetizers like wings and fried pickles they offer salads, wraps and burger. The burger can be substituted by an house made turkey patty or an impossible burger. So a lot of choices. I was craving a burger and when I read home made turkey that's so rare I'll had to go for it. Side salad some extra cheese and that's it. As starter I ordered the fried pickkes. The starter came after the mail lol. But that did not matter since they have been nothing special. Nothing to complain about either. But the burger. It felt like the size of three regular paddies. Wet delicious add one like the pickles pepper and crispy bacon. A very good burger! I will come back anytime.

Yelp
Hanging out in Andersonville? Stop by Replay for food, drinks, games, and good vibes! A friend and I were meeting up for drinks with friends to celebrate a birthday, but we wanted to eat first. A quick walk down Clark had us stumble upon Replay. Free retro arcade games? Yes, please! Good bar food? Yummy! The fried pickles were thick and heavily battered (which I rather enjoyed). The buffalo chicken eggrolls were yummy, though the blue cheese dressing was a bit...sweet? Definitely a different taste to it, but still good. Our server was the perfect mix of great conversation, helpful recommendations, and friendly banter. And, what's even better? I had left my cell phone on the table and had to return to get it...which was safe behind the bar for me to retrieve it! Thank goodness!

Yelp
Such an enjoyable spot, they've got great food and matching prices. It's a great spot to watch a game, meet with friend or just enjoy yourself and grab lunch and a drink. Everyone seemed to enjoy helping one another as a team for service which I appreciated. And the host was so sweet and wonderful. Also shout out to Orlando, you kept a smile throughout my entire visit and spoke to every guest it was a pleasure to see such genuine hospitality in the service industry.

Yelp
Unfortunately, my experience at Replay in Andersonville was less than stellar. I cannot speak to the food quality as our experience was cut short before we could even be served. Our first interaction was with the bouncer, who was dismissive and unnecessarily brusque. While I understand that establishments may have policies about bringing in outside beverages, how we were told to step outside with our coffee was off-putting. A simple, polite request would have sufficed and might have even prompted us to purchase a beverage from their menu. Instead, the interaction left a sour taste and led us to cut our visit short. While I hope others have had better experiences, I'm reluctant to return or recommend Replay to friends based on this initial interaction. Service and first impressions matter; unfortunately, they missed the mark during our visit.

Yelp
Pleasant little barcade with a nice patio along the main Andersonville commercial corridor. The game selection was about what you'd expect at any barcade (mostly classics and a few low quality oddities), but everything being freeplay is definitely a plus. Only stopped for a drink and a snack so didn't try the main food, but my tator tots were good.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid drinks and vibes. Used to come here for trivia which was fun. Their frozen fruity drink behind the bar is really good, not too boozy!

Yelp
Had brunch at Replay to celebrate Father's Day. First time at Replay and had an incredible tie. My wife and I enjoyed the Bubbly Happy Hour (champagne with pineapple juice). I had the Smash Burger and I can honestly say that might be in the top 5 best burgers in the city!! Two quarter pound patties, cheese, fried pickles, caramelized onions, and mixed greens. Ridiculously good burger!!!! Service was very friendly and attentive. Always fun to find another great place to go to for brunch. Can't wait to go back!!

Travis B.

Yelp
Yelp has this marked as good for kids, and you'd assume same given arcade games and location but no kids allowed after 2:30pm on weekends...we tried to go here to watch Olympics men's bball final and had to walkout
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely love dining here in the summer at their outdoor area. It's dog friendly which is a huge plus. Great menu, delicious cocktails, terrific service
google avatar

Maddy S.

Yelp
Went here for a quick bite and some drinks, and it was great! The drinks are delicious, the staff is friendly, and the tater tots and chicken fingers are OUT OF THIS WORLD. I've never gone on a super crowded night, but it does get busy! Lots of fun events and activities to do!

Yelp
My husband and I have been here probably 50 times. The main draw is the bar food which is better than most any other bar I've been to. However as others have suggested they lack in other areas. We had a baby and tried to bring him (sleeping in car seat) once around 10-11am on a weekend. Maybe 10 people were there. Walked up to the hostess who with a straight face said there were no tables available for hours. It felt rude and was clearly due to the baby. Fine. Went back again and tried to get a seat around 5pm on a Saturday (no baby this time). Was busier so we went to the bar to get a drink. Left after 15 min of waiting to be acknowledged. It feels like they find customers a nuisance. Sad, as the food is quite good.

Yelp
Food is okay, most recent time I went service was terrible. I have been to replay probably 50 times in my life. We have spent many a summer night on the patio, but this most recent experience was horrible. I came in with a craving for a Burger, Mac and Cheese, and drinks. I ordered a Moscow Mule and it tasted flat. I asked the server Adrian, if the bar could remake it, and he took it as a personal slight. Ignoring me was pretty much my punishment for the rest of the night. He also was giving me dirty looks from across the restaurant near the bar. This mule tasted the same as the other one just topped off with fresh soda. It was not good at all. We had already ordered our food so Adrian made sure to avoid us the rest of our meal. He passed me about 20 times without asking how the food or the drink was. The drink had not been touched and was on the edge of the table. He moved it to bring food but did not ask how it was. Guilty conscience maybe? He also did not ask if we wanted any additional drinks or food the entire meal. I guess no dessert or any other drinks could be ordered. As we are wrapping up our meal and he finally comes to the table and asks if he can take anything off the table. I told him that he could take the drink because it's disgusting and it has not been touched. He said, "oh, it went from being waterdowned and flat to now disgusting." He then started to laugh and grabbed the drink and walked away. Adrian, I'm glad that you found the situation so funny. By avoiding us the entire meal you missed the opportunity to build the sale as we had plans for dessert and more drinks. Customer isn't always right but it would've cost you nothing to be kind and ask how our food and drinks were. It seemed like Adrian didn't want us to be served to begin with. I want to be clear that Adrian never checked in with us once from the time we got our food to the time he asked if he could take something off the table. Guess water refills and no other requests would be honored simply because I gave feedback on a drink. I vote with my dollar and won't spend money where I'm clearly not wanted. Replay is not cheap by any means. So how about treating paying customers with just a bit of respect.

Hope L.

Yelp
Cute place with amazing people. I loved the vibe and it had a great patio! There weren't many other gay women but I felt very safe
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
I was visiting the area and when I was waiting for an appointment in Andersonville, I looked up outdoor lunch spots because I had my dogs with me. It is also raining and some of these places with patios had closed their patios, so I give them props for accomodating during the rain and during the pandemic. They had hard canopies out and also had space heaters. The food was good and the service was pretty responsive. I'm not sure when I might next be in the Chicago area, but I had a good experience here.

John S.

Yelp
I like Replay, but some of the prices are out of control. Roughly $23 (pre-tip) for a Manhattan? Maybe understandable if this was top shelf liquor, but a bottle of Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon is currently $31.99 at Binny's.

Deanna L.

Yelp
The food was great, service friendly but inattentive and overwhelmed. The hostess was so cold and unwelcoming.

Christine M.

Yelp
I ordered a burger to go and received an uncooked burger. Absolutely disgusting. And this was after requesting a different server because my server was hanging out sitting at the bar.
google avatar

Andrew P.

Yelp
Not really sure, but I was expecting a little more from this place. Our server wasn't the most friendliest, and while I kind of like the layout of this place, I realized how much I prefer Replay in Boystown. We asked the server if there were any Sunday night specials or something and all we got was a "no". Just seemed a little sassy. I do like that Replay has juke boxes that allow you to digitally change the music from your phone, but I feel like the music was a bit too low in volume here. Like, come on... you can turn it up a bit louder I feel like! I'd still come back here to try more of the drinks and feel the vibe on a Friday or Saturday night, but my first experience here was a bit disappointing. We'll see for next time!
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Halloween night a friend and I decided to choose Replay for a quick bite to eat before a show. We had a server named Sam who was out of this world. Sam was by far one of the most personable, kind and attentive servers I've had at Replay, and dare I say, one of the best service experiences I've had while dining in Andersonville. Thank you Sam, for making my night one to remember.

Sherry S.

Yelp
Decent bar food. The chicken was good n the different sauces. The cheese curds and French firs were limp and greasy. The rose' cider was good. The service was relaxed by very good. Every we had contact with that worked there were very pleasant. Sports on television for my spouse, old time pinball machines for me. It was great.
google avatar

Jane P.

Yelp
Super underrated spot for brunch. We basically had it all to ourselves. Great drinks, great food, not outrageously priced, and the arcade games are great for keeping kids busy while you're drinking and then playing yourself after drinking.

Stephen M.

Yelp
We LOVE coming here, The food is your typical bar food with some enhanced options. I will be honest they have some of the best wings I've ever had in Chicago. The staff for the most part is amazing everyone is so friendly, welcoming. They really do create an inviting space for all! Yesterday we were having lunch & drinks our waitress was great, she was funny engaging and was so friendly. She was so accommodating, however there was an associate walking around, she was kinda frumpy, very high waisted jeans, a tee shirt tucked in oh and she was wearing a mask! I don't know what she does here, we were even commenting to each other "she walks around d doing nothing". She came to deliver some appetizers and slammed the plates down, I laughed and said "oh OK" before she left, I said I think they forgot the ice in my drink, can I have some Ice when you get a chance, I said it with a smile, as I said she had a mask on but she let out a sigh, rolled her eyes and pulled her jeans up higher then I thought she could pull them. She went to get the ice came back to the table and slammed the glass on the table looked in my face and said ICE and walked away. The absolute worst customer service from a bus girl I'm assuming. People have choices where they want to spend their money, i think if we came back and she was anywhere near my table we'd leave! Also someone does need to speak to her about dressing professionally in a food establishment- every other person that worked there looked professional and played the part! She was an eyesore
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Friendly staff & yummy brunch (potatoes, biscuit, omelette, and French toast was all delicious). Super fun to play old school arcade games (Tetris, pac man, Area 51 Site 4 etc) while we waited. Will be back!
google avatar

Erika G.

Yelp
Just like that, my opinion of this place improved! In these trying pandemic times, we turn to libations. Enter Replay, with their social-distancing "Lemonade Stand" serving frosty beverages of several varieties. Offered up by adorable, dishy bartenders. This is a a fantastic idea to stay in business. You get your drink in front, there's plenty of area to spread out and stay away from everyone. Very little contact necessary to pay. And the drinks are GREAT. Well done, Replay! Thanks for keeping Andersonville healthy and sliiiiiigtly tipsy.
google avatar

Jose A.

Yelp
Video game bar with good beer selection. Lots of good free games. I like their special events.
google avatar

Ixta G.

Yelp
I really loved this place. The food and service was great! I went there for the first time to meet with my sister her family and our parents who were visiting from out of town. Since we had two boys (9 and 10 yo), I looked for a family friendly place and this was PERFECT! The kids played and had lots of fun at the arcade games which are free (the pinball machines cost a dollar and there might be a couple of other games at the same price but for the most part they are free) and the adults also played and drank delicious beer. They have a great beer selection and we just ordered chicken wings and nachos to share. They didn't have the chicken tenders that we ordered for the kids so I got the grilled cheese sandwich for my son which was really good. We had two different waiters and they were both really nice and attentive. I'll be going back soon!
google avatar

Sean O.

Yelp
Absolutely love this location! Used to go to the one in Boystown more in my club days, but they don't have any food at that location. The cheese curds are fabulous, and the staff is always wonderful. The bartenders are attentive and I especially love the waitress I've gotten a few times, Haven. Overall great environment and lovely people! Would recommend to anyone, and will happily continue going back for brunch and dinner.
google avatar

Hailey D.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere! I got the Apple pomegranate salad and fries. Salad was good but the up charge for protein is annoying. The fries are fantastic from here. Our waitress was also very nice and helpful.

Lance H.

Yelp
We love Replay...the patio in the spring/fall is Devine (too hot in this damn sweltering summer).... Always fun, good food and the staff is always attentive! However, TODAY, July 1st...no FROZE!!!! Like going to get my swirl at McDonalds and , yep....once again the ice cream machine is down!!! It's hotter than hell outside and I need my FROZE!!!
google avatar

Marta S.

Yelp
There will surely be a follow up to my review as I am basing it on food and service alone. Drinks will be judged another time:) We went on Saturday evening hungry after all day on the lake. We got a table outside which allowed us to enjoy a beautiful Summer night. Starved, we were glad we could order fast. We had a chicken wrap, steak nachos and birria tacos. I devoured my tacos. They were delicious - crispy tortillas filled with juicy and flavorful beef which you dip in a sauce that is just delish. I almost heard my Taco tell the sauce " You complete me". Needless to say, I had to go back 2 days later and order it again JUST to make sure that it was not a fluke. They were as tasty as I remembered. I am a happy camper.

Tyler R.

Yelp
Anthony was a wonderful bartender and so hilarious, totally recommend. Great service and wonderful food.
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
I'm going to give it four stars although I feel like we didn't stay long enough to really be able to judge. I'll say this, Chicago still has pretty strict Covid policies, in terms of going out and clubbing. And in comparison to Wisconsin/Milwaukee. There's really no point in going out right now in chicago other than to help keep businesses going. The place seemed clean and although temperature checks are no longer a thing, they seemed to follow COVID guidelines. The whole point of the bar is to play old school video games but playing the video games is still not an option. I found the music not to be the vibes we were looking for. It was more alternative. My biggest qualm was that both the bathrooms are gender neutral. Meaning men can go in the bathroom with women and while women are in there. I don't like that. I'm not comfortable with it; gay, straight, yellow, black, blue or handicapped. I'm all for inclusion but I just did not like the bathroom situation. I guess if there was an option for gender neutral but also a place for someone who is not comfortable with that, I'd feel differently. Other than that, Our server was really friendly!

Yelp
Me boyfriend and our friend was there for brunch this morning. Of course wee were the 1st group there. The service was good and server was wonderful. The food was amazing. Me, my boyfriend, and our friend's orders were correct. We will come back for sure.
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised by this location! After frequenting Replay Lincoln Park, we didn't have hugely high expectations for the food from an arcade bar. We were very wrong! We got the steak sandwich and a build your own turkey burger, both of which were large, filling, and very delicious! The space itself is clean and nicely distanced and they have options for both indoor and outdoor seating right now. Keep in mind that they don't have any games available to play right now, but the drinks and food make up for that!
google avatar

Kaitlyn S.

Yelp
Two thumbs up--I got the tacos and wow they were amazing. Service was quick, food was FANTASTIC and I would go back 100% for the food and drinks! They have brunch, lunch and dinner options.

Julia G.

Yelp
Great sports bar. Their Cuban sandwich reminds me of having one in Miami. Great place to watch games and have drinks

Akalis C.

Yelp
Went for the first time with a friend and one of the bartenders was immediately rude and unpleasant so we won't be coming back. It really ruined our time when we expected to just have a fun night, and our plans to go back with the rest of our friend group. The other replay also has a bigger variety of games and a better vibe too so I guess I could just go to that one even though this one is within walking distance of me.

Yelp
Excellent beer selection, nice selection of video game classics (free play), great service, and tasty food. Might I suggest the Double Smash Burger? Delicious. Highly recommended

Lisa R.

Yelp
Excellent burger with bacon added from the build your own burger menu the burger bun was nice, with a kind of sweetness to it. . Upgraded to Brussels sprouts for a side, which were well cooked. Dog was welcome on the patio.

Came here for the first time for a solo date and I've never felt more comfortable or taken care of. Birria quesadilla was delicious!! Smoked peach Paloma is a new fave !! And my waitress Aman was so sweet and attentive.

Yelp
I thought I posted a review a few weeks back, turns out I can't find it. I arrived with my family on a sunny Saturday afternoon (3pm) and was told kids aren't seated past 2pm. Meanwhile at least 50% of outdoor seating was vacant. We, as a family, have been here several times before recently (with good experiences) and were never told this rule. Reading some other posts of similar vain (kids not being seated past x time), it seems the rule shifts and bends given the day or time or host. It would serve the establishment better by posting this discrimination somewhere publicly so folks don't waste their time.
