The Best Steakhouses in Buenos Aires

"With a youthful vibe and a Bib Gourmand for value, this grill led by Executive Chef Patricio Pescio delivers quality chargrilled meats with thoughtful sides: I loved sausages with aromatic chimichurri and Provoleta paired with smoked red pepper jam, while sweetbreads arrive with cabutia purée, passion fruit, and peanut praline and the cauliflower cream is enriched with crispy chorizo crumbs. The grill highlights include the Flag Rib—sliced thin and flash-cooked over high flames—and the popular Skirt Steak with Creole sauce; they also offer a thick Vacío braised then finished on the grill, and sides like Smoked Butter Mashed Potatoes with garlic and rosemary or a fresh salad with avocado, onion, fennel, and orange. Save room for the mixed flan with bufalo dulce de leche and whipped cream." - The MICHELIN Guide

"If you’re an inveterate meat-eater, you’ll want to head to the República de Fuego, a restaurant with a young and informal vibe occupying an old restored house in the city’s Recoleta district. In this setting, which has retained the homely feel of the original building and which has preserved several “vintage” features such as the original and delightful flooring, everything revolves around the traditional Argentinian grill. Dishes have a contemporary twist in their presentation and are always based around premium cuts of meat that chef Patricio Pessio prepares with the greatest of care. Highlights on the menu include “knife-cut” meat empanadas, stracciatella with grilled edamame, a delicious skirt steak with a Creole sauce, ribeye with a fresh herb butter, and grilled pears with a mascarpone mousse and crumble – all presented with impeccable service and with the option of an impressive choice of cocktails." - Michelin Inspector

A chic-looking restaurant where we could arrive at 7 p.m. without a reservation. We started with a small dish from the house, the restaurant has several vegetable options, but above all, a very tasty piece of ojo de bife. And don’t forget the panqueques with dulce de leche!

We visited this restaurant and selected starters and meat .. frankly we were a bit disappointed and to some extend did not understand the mention by the Michelin guide? According to which criteria ? The starters (ie chorizo) was ok but nothing special .. then we took the most expensive meat pieces proposed in the menu and nothing. Waouu… the team is nice but no need to rush to this place .. plenty of other meat places / nice restaurants.. as good or better and less expensive (even if it was not so expensive) A small note to the “hostess” Sue who made our evening a bit better

I found this restaurant in the Michelin Guide (Bib Gourmand) and thought it looked like a nice, casual spot to celebrate a special occasion. We made a reservation and were seated in a narrow hallway area that felt like an afterthought to add more seating. Unfortunately, it lacked good airflow and was uncomfortably warm, which took away from the dining experience. We started with the sausage and spinach fritters. The portions were large, but the fritters lacked complexity and became tiresome to eat after a few bites. The sausage itself was huge and served with a couple of tasty sauces. It was probably my favorite thing we had. For the main course, we tried the Milanese with pasta, which unfortunately lacked flavor and felt underwhelming. We also ordered the polenta with beef. While the flavor of the beef was nice, the ratio of meat and toppings to polenta was way off, leaving us with a pile of plain polenta at the end. Overall, this wasn’t one of our favorite dining experiences, so we skipped dessert and headed straight to Rapanui to try and salvage the evening. That said, the value is good if you're looking for generous portions. It might be better suited for a larger group sharing several dishes rather than a special night out.

Our evening at República del Fuego was unforgettable from start to finish. Arriving early, we started with drinks at the bar, where the espresso martini and French 75 were crafted to perfection—each sip was a delight. For appetizers, we tried the empanadas and chorizo, both packed with flavor and a great introduction to what was to come. For our main course, we ordered the entraña with béchamel kale and squash, and the meat was cooked perfectly, tender and bursting with flavor. The accompaniments added a unique twist that made the dish feel both comforting and innovative. We also found the prices very reasonable for the quality and ambiance. To finish, the pears with mascarpone provided the ideal ending—a delicate balance of sweetness and creaminess that left us fully satisfied. República del Fuego offers a fantastic experience, from the cocktails to the expertly prepared dishes. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable meal in Buenos Aires!

Great experience! We came here for lunch and had a wonderful time. The creamy polenta was amazing and they were very knowledgeable of dietary restrictions (I’m celiac/gluten free). Everything was very reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend!

We had an amazing dinner here. We aren't big beef eaters so no steak for us but the pork was an absolute stand out. The provoleta was also top notch as were the spinach bunuelas. The stuffed pasta was a little undercooked for our taste but that was the only complaint

Great restaurant, great food, good service! We came (twice) because of the Michelin recommendation and we were not disappointed

Google
We had a fantastic experience at Republica del Fuego. The steaks were just delicious, as expected, but the sides were all home runs. The wine was delicious and the wait staff so friendly and helpful. We will be back!!
