A laid-back spot beneath the NYU canopy, Reservoir serves up delicious buffalo wings, burgers, and a side of sports on numerous TVs, perfect for night owls.
"Electing to go to a bar near NYU during the “school year” is always a gamble, but when it has wings, burgers, and waffle fries this good, it’s worth the risk. Reservoir is close to Union Square, and given the generally casual atmosphere, it’s a perfect meeting spot when it’s time for an afternoon/evening of game-watching, boozing, and crushing some classic bar food." - katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg
"Good bar food is not such an easy find in Manhattan. Generally speaking, the wings in NYC are a joke, and you usually wind up spending way more money than you actually should on them, and they’re rarely even good. Not at Reservoir. Looking for a good place to post up for a night of grubbing, game watching, and beer drinking? This is your spot. Reservoir has some of the best buffalo style wings in the city. They also have solid burgers, reubens, make tremendous waffle fries, AND even have a pool table. When was the last time you played pool? In terms of no frills bar food, Reservoir ranks among our favorites Yes, the crowd is very NYU heavy, so prepare for that. It’s a NY bar always, but during football season, Reservoir transforms into a Steelers bar. Prepare accordingly. Oh, and two tips: If you’re getting a burger, make sure you order a ‘Buffalo Burger’ - it’s better than their normal burger and not on the menu. Also, Sunday night is wing night - thirty cents apiece. You’re going to want to pay attention to that. Food Rundown photo credit: Ryan Muir Basket Of Wings They can be hit or miss, but a good batch of Reservoir wings can be among the best in NYC. If it’s a miss though, well, it’s a miss. They have a ton of different sauce options, but we suggest sticking straight buffalo. We always convince ourselves to do some honey-garlic, only to wish we got more buffalo later. FYI the hot are seriously hot, and the medium even leave your mouth burning a little. Go easy. photo credit: Ryan Muir Buffalo Burger & Waffle Fries A very solid pub burger: plump, juicy, and oozing with goodness. Also, CHEAP by today’s standards at $8.50 Mozzarella Sticks Because this is the kind of place you order mozz sticks. Reservoir House Salad Sleeper salad. A nice helping of greens, cucumbers, and tomatoes served with a great dijon vinaigrette. Cajun Chicken Wrap It’s on the menu as a club but it’s even better as a wrap. All of their chicken sandwiches are good. photo credit: Ryan Muir Reuben A warm meat sandwich of sliced corned beef with sauerkraut and melted swiss on grilled rye with thousand island dressing. You win." - Andrew Steinthal
"Reservoir is in the middle of NYU, it stays open until 2am every day, and it attracts plenty of students. But it feels like less of an undergrad bar than other places showing sports in Greenwich Village. That’s partly because there are no beer pong tables, but it’s also because the focus here is on sports. (That’s especially true during Steelers games.) Most people use the long, dark space as a spot to get wings and beers while watching games rather than a place to go out." - Bryan Kim, Kenny Yang, Matt Tervooren
"Sometimes, the sandwich board outside Reservoir will boldly claim that this bar has the best wings in the city. Once you try a batch, you might just let them take the title. There are a ton of different sauce options, but we suggest sticking with straight Buffalo. FYI the hot wings are seriously hot, and the medium even leave your mouth burning a little. Go easy." - Neha Talreja, Kenny Yang
"This place isn’t pretty or fancy, but these guys do have two things going for them: sports and wings. There are plenty of TVs on which to watch whatever big games are going down, and they do some above-average buffalo wings. And if you like waffle fries, you’re in luck. This bar has waffle fries. Fun fact: if you don’t like waffle fries, you’re technically a monster and we don’t understand you. Although you should still subscribe to our newsletter." - bryan kim
