Residenza del Lago

I booked the hotel based on reviews of the restaurant. Happily they were all surpassed. We were welcomed by the owner on arrival and made to feel very welcome despite our lack of Italian. Our room was great, sitting area downstairs and a mezzanine bedroom above but so large it felt like a room in its own right. It was lovely and warm- a must for a stay in February. The restaurant was amazing - the first night we chose the 32 euro tasting menu and asked Federico to suggest wines to match each dish. His knowledge was great and he was happy to discuss the dishes and wines in detail with us. Our second night was Valentines's day with a special set menu. We weren't disappointed then either and had another wonderful meal despite being a couple of generations older than the majority' of diners! Splendid choice at breakfast too. Frederico's wife is the chef so it's a real family business and a very friendly and welcoming one. We were made to feel so welcome and we certainly want to return. Janet H

Once I found the hotel I was greeted warmly by the host, and made very welcome. The room was excellent, with access to a large shared balcony area, with plenty of seating. Had an excellent dinner, aided by the very helpful waiter interpreting the bits of Italian that I didn't know from the menu, and suggesting and serving a very nice bottle of wine. Excellent breakfast spread too - could have enjoyed a week here!

We enjoyed our stay at Residenza del Lago. The staff was very friendly and helpful in our search for my wife's family. We also had a wonderful dinner at the hotel. The wait staff was extremely helpful in our selection of dinner and wine. The chef prepared an amazing grilled squid dish and her husband was our waiter and was able to explain how it was prepared. He also was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with our wine choices. A very quiet town with a delightful community.

We stayed here a couple of years ago, but I have only just found the hotel on the internet as we did not book online, just showed up on their doorstep. The owners gave us the best room, stunning exposed brick ceiling. ||||We had dinner in the restaurant, which packed out and was very popular with the locals. The food was all local and delicious. Breakfast was lovely as well. ||||The setting and service was imaculate and we couldn't fault it. Now that I have found it I will be recommending it to friends travelling in the area.

hidden in a small town north of Torino, an amazing family welcomes you in a very nice hotel. we had huge room with a fireplace all the way upstairs (no elevators), and had the best dinner ever. They are wine experts and will recommend you which is the best with your food.||We highly recommend this place !

I stayed with my mother for two nights as part of a trip to the Torino area to research family history in Candia Canavese. We stumbled upon Residenza almost by accident -- I wasn't sure what accommodation would be available in such a small village, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time!||||Federico was a fantastic and knowledgeable host and went above and beyond assisting us with genealogy research and visiting local sites where my family was from. His wife (as the primary chef) -- prepared hearty and delicious meals each day. Be sure to try the truffle risotto if it's on the menu while you are visiting.||||The hotel is located right basically in the heart of town (it's a small village) and our room had beautiful domed brick ceilings, a patio out front, tons of space with a large washroom, fireplace, desk and even a couch. Plenty comfortable for the two of us and you could easily have 3 or 4 people in the room.||||If you are exploring this region of Italy, Residenza Del Lago (of the lake) is an excellent choice!

When visiting the Turin area, we always stay at least one night at the Rezidenza del Lago. If my memory do not betray me, the first time I stayed must have been sometime between 1985 and 1990. I was lodged in with them during a business stay with a company in Turin, and I never forgot it! Even though they have increased their room capacity over the years they have managed to retain the same interior style, as well as providing a very helpful and friendly service at all times.||The restaurant has always had an exquisite menu as well as a fabulous wine cellar to go with it. With Federico's knowledge of wines added, this has made every meal an experience. Candia Canavese is a very small quiet town, but perfect if you want to take a stroll along the Lago di Candia, or just sit in the sun with a good novel in the hotel's small "courtyard". We'll be back!

Nice & quiet getaway. Family owned & run establishment who took care of our every need! Restaurant is a must. We enjoyed excellent meals from the set menu. Had to dine each night so we could try everything!

This hotel is very cheap for what you get, which is a spacious, comfortable room with good facilities and an excellent restaurant on-site where they cook fresh bread daily, make their own pasta and have a selection of 400 wines and an in-house sommellier to recommend which wine to drink with your meal... People come from all over the surrounding area just for the restaurant, but if you happen to be passing through the area, you can do a lot worse than to stay here as well.
