The 28 Best Restaurants in Prague, Czech Republic | Eater

"The absolutely huge multilevel dining room at Červený Jelen (Red Stag) might just have the highest ceiling in the city, but the large open kitchen steals the show, a focal point with grills ever aflame. At the modern steakhouse, you can order everything from brisket to tenderloin, as well as a long list of sides (whipped potatoes et al.), so it’s nearly impossible to leave anything less than stuffed." - Dan Clapson

This was the best discovery this trip. Bustling dining room and very friendly waiting staff. We ordered the appetiser platter because the table next to us had it and it looked really good. We were not disappointed. I had the venison loin, which was really outstanding. Never had such succulent venison before. This is definitely worth a return visit next time I'm here.

Restaurace Červený Jelen is a gorgeous place to dine while in Prague - definitely a little more upmarket, so I’d recommend booking ahead, but it’s absolutely worth it for a special night out. We enjoyed starters, mains, and desserts, and everything was faultless. The dark beer chocolate cake was a real highlight - rich, indulgent, and beautifully presented. It is on the pricier side, but the quality, atmosphere, and service make it worth every penny. They also have a great drinks selection, including their own Pilsner Urquell and a lovely range of wines. If you’re looking to treat yourselves while in Prague, this spot is a must-visit!

We’ve eaten a lot of beef brisket in our time and this was definitely the best we’ve ever had. The tenderness & juiciness was unbelievable, with such rich flavor. The Czech deer loin & sides were all excellent too and everything paired really well with Pilsner Urquell. We had Vetrnik for dessert which was delicious. The service was great, Pavel provided strong recommendations, and the prices were fair. I’d absolutely recommend having dinner here! Highlights: beef brisket, Vetrnik Date visited: 9/25/25

I spent thousands and thousands of Australian Dollararydoos coming to Europe. I wasn't going to muck around and not go to a very nice steak restaurant. Cerveny Jelen is in an old bank vault. They have vaulted ceilings, multiple floors and a bank vault door in the basement. It's hectic. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see all that until I used the loo because I went by myself. The advantages of going somewhere alone are understated. Yes I'll have more beer thanks. Yes I'll have heaps of steak thanks. Yes I'll talk to myself, cheers. I had cured meats to start, they were salty and delicious. It's hard to have authentic food from the place you're on holiday at. Sometimes I think it may be better to have one, killer, dynamite meal that is really authentic and then maccas the rest of the time. I was served by Pavel, and I'm gonna call him out specifically for being very questioning of my ability to eat a "Czechia" board intended for 3-4 people by myself. His European derision turned first to visible alarm and then (I'm almost certain) quiet respect as I finished the whole thing by myself. The meat was tender, cooked to perfection and delicious. The sauces were incredible as were the beers which flowed faster than I could keep up with (while I filled my belly full of steak). I would recommend this restaurant to almost everyone, eeeexcept my wife, who doesnt eat meat and who didn't come with me to dinner. God forbid she ever find out how much I spent cause this place is nice but yeah it isn't the $2 menu.

This is a great place for group gatherings! The outdoor seating in the courtyard has a great vibe and it’s perfect for a long evening with friends or colleagues. I’m pregnant so I’m unable to drink alcohol, so I really appreciate a good non-alcoholic option that still feels special, and the lemonades were fantastic. Don’t skip dessert!

I tried the Angus beef cheeseburger – it was tasty and juicy, but the patty felt a bit grainy and slightly tough for my taste. On the other hand, the salad with melted parmesan was absolutely fantastic – definitely the highlight of the meal! I also had the traditional Bohemian “Větrník” for dessert – rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with caramel, a must-try if you visit. The service was excellent – our waiter was really cool and attentive. The atmosphere is stylish, spacious, and has a very cool vibe overall.

One of the must goes in Prague. Posh but not pretentious. Food and drink and service just first class :-) Pavel was so amazing as were all the staff - thank you for making us so welcome

Google
Unexpected Gem! Discovered this huge place thanks to a Czech colleague, and it was such a great find. We started with the Sporck platter—a generous mix of Czech starters that was really nice. For the main, I had the beef breaded schnitzel, and it was absolutely delicious. A fantastic experience overall!

Yelp
We arrived a bit late in Prague so wasn't too sure what would be open, much less good, and was pleasantly surprised to find this amazing restaurant just around the corner from where we were staying for dinner. They were able to seat us right away, and even moved us to a bigger table once it freed up because we were in a tiny little side table. The space is GORGEOUS. Clearly fits a lot of large groups, but either way really enjoyed the ambiance. Great wine list and the menu is extensive. Being so, everything that came out was great. We opted for land animals so got some steak & shared a bunch of dishes/appetizers all of which were pretty good. The best part was their super value whiskey flights. Definitely will stop by here again in the future!

Yelp
3.5 rounded up to 4 for friendly service. Solid place, but not memorable. Split the meat plate for 2 to start which came with pastrami, mini chorizo with garlic, and smoked beef. All were good, but nothing amazing. Followed this with their brisket which was tender enough to cut with a fork, but once again, I won't be dreaming about it later. For dessert, we had an egg yolk/caramel pastry that was tasty and not overly sweet. In a town full of awesome food, I probably wouldn't return.

Yelp
Came here with a large group for a private party and had a great time! The space is really cool and service was great. Our food was buffet-style and it was really good. Best bites I had were the mashed potatoes, mixed seasonable vegetables, beef tartare and some sort of very rich chocolate ball for dessert. Also got to try some of their housemade apple brandy (I opted for the honey pear one) which was amazing! 4.5 stars.

Yelp
Such a great evening with friends here! Our server, Klara, made sure we were well attended. Our entrees ranged from the duck thigh dumpling to the mushroom medley . Ambience is humming without being overwhelming. The best is the friendly sommelier, who championed Czech wines and turned us from skeptics to fans with his insightful recommendations.

Yelp
Overall, the food was great, our favorites were the duck pate and the beef tartare from the starters. The mushroom soup had pretty good flavor. And the bread was nicely toasted. The only thing we weren't happy with was the steak was a bit overcooked, we preferred it medium rare and it was closer to medium well/well done. The price is decent, would go back to try other cuts though.

Yelp
Ambiance. This is a very inspiring place that was converted from a previous Art Deco Bank. Coming from the US, this type of structure is not common. The architectural experience alone is a site to see - plus being so close to Marriott Prague Center - this is definitely a must visit when you visit Prague. Service. I got lucky, we just arrived from our Viking trip and wanted to see what Prague has to offer. We did not have a reservation (highly recommended next time) but the staff was able to accommodate us four and sat us. I have been to many establishments and this is my first eaperience in Prague. Service was excellent and our wait staff was very helpful in explaining most of the German dishes. But for steak lovers - this is self explanatory. If your hungry, this is the place. Food. Taste of Czech, German, Slovakia, all were good. My wife had the deer leg and I had the Rump Steak. And started with the Onion Soup. All meals were delicious. I highly recommend first time Prague Visitors to come here - but learn from me, don't take chances and get a reservation.

Yelp
What a way to close out the most memorable trip to Prague. We chose to dine at Cerveny Jelen for our last night in Prague and went in for a very early dinner since we had to awake so early the next morning for our departing flight. We started out with the creamy white asparagus soup. I chose the Burger with Wagyu & Foie Gras and the Confited Portobello mushroom with asparagus salad and herbs. My husband chose the Tenderloin from Argentina with Chimichurri sauce. We both ordered pilsners and dark beers and both were delicious. We were both extremely impressed with the creamy asparagus soup and the presentation, starting with the vegetables, the soft boiled quail eggs topped with salmon roe; and then the luscious broth poured over the top. Beautiful presentation and the creamy texture and flavor were out of this world. I am glad that the burger came with such a light and delightful salad to counteract the rich meatiness of the burger patty and foie gras. The burger was the perfect size and even as an American, I did not miss the french fries! The portobello salad with shaved asparagus and herbs was very fresh and delicious and complemented all of the meats. My husband enjoyed his tenderloin (and he let me have a bite). The sides of the potatoes, radishes and asparagus were perfectly prepared and delicious as well. I believe we had asparagus all of the ways and we have zero regrets about enjoying an abundance of such fresh and in season vegetables. The chimichurri sauce was a perfect enhancement for the steak. The atmosphere is really neat since it is in an old bank building. The decor is quirky and inviting. Above all, what stood out the most was the service. Everyone who waited on us was very friendly and truly interested in our journey of Prague and history. I saw some other reviews that indicated that the restaurant was crowded and noisy. We went for dinner around 4:30pm and it was a good time to go because it was not crowded at all and the noise level was low. I would love to revisit and try "The Vault" menu next time.

Yelp
We attended a party held in their private downstairs room. A beautiful restaurant with multiple levels. The service and food were excellent.

Yelp
My husband had local fish over risotto and I had the lobster and we shared the octopus carpaccio. Food here is outstanding and it appears each plate is delicately curated. The service is perfect with the right amount of attention to detail! The views of the bridge and river are amazing!

Yelp
This is a meat focused restaurant with steaks, brisket and more in a cool ambiance with a fun vibe. Really good for the tourists and lots of English here. I found it only ok in flavor, but I am not a big steak eater. This was fun and the service good, but not in my repeat list.

Yelp
This is a bank turned restaurant and the setting is fun. You can see the vaults from the bank days still being there. The food and the service were excellent and the desserts were decent too.

Yelp
Amazing food, great ambiance, one of the best meals while in Prague. Highly recommend !

Yelp
Wow! Amazing! It may just be because I don't visit Europe that often, but the food here is great! On my visit it was during an event, so my experience certainly doesn't represent a normal encounter with the staff, so my review is solely on the space and food. Everything tasted great, the stand-outs for me were the rare duck and duck mousse on toast points. I look forward to trying to place some time in the future for a normal meal and I hope that the service matches the impression of the food!

Yelp
Service was impeccable and food just as wonderful . A five star in my book! Steak prepared to perfection! I was so lovely to eat outside

Yelp
Feasted here base on recommendation from our tour guide...was not disappointed. Wide open seating area. Several local and imported adult beverages with a few house specials. Food is indescribably delish!! I would describe the several dishes we tried, but honestly I couldn't spell or say them.

Yelp
Phenomenal experience e! Gorgeous design, open kitchen serving loads of traditional food, especially meat! The his is a multi-level restaurant with a mezzanine looking to the lower levels. Apparently it's an old bank! Get the beer. Get the meat. Enjoy the energy.

Yelp
Great food with the best Czech beer. We ve visited this place several times. It is great for a lunch, even hang out with business partners but also for corporate events. They have a great selection of private lounges and related catering services. Definitely worth the try and visit!

Brodie Z.

Yelp
perfect for beer lovers; atmosphere is really good inside since they created the way for table share. Really good idea to accommodate those who are not familiar with where to go or for those who are not interested to do lots of homework. Food was good taste and large portions to make Ike main dish is enough for one person. Forgot to tell that it was recommended by hotel reception which is so nice of them

Yelp
Really big, meat-oriented place in middle of Prague. Noisy and crowded, the steak is often very good here. Great for groups, easy for foreigners as English is spoken and cards accepted.

Amicia G.

Yelp
Loved this open space and great service and food and drinks amazing . Loved the decor and vibe

Yelp
Amazing Czech food (you must like meat!), great beer, fun vibe, friendly (fast) service. Nothing not to like. We had Tafelspitz and wild boar salsiccia. So delish! Pilsner Urquell fresh on tap and decadent Czech desserts. We stumbled on this place and will recommend to any friends visiting Praha!!!!

Yelp
I do not really know what to think about this place. It has become rather popular and there is a big vibe around it since it has been new, but for me there is nothing that special. The service is kind of chaotic, food just ok and the interior is fine but still don't see the wow....

Yelp
This former bank is wonderfully built out into a spacious beer hall with tasty bites. The experience was wonderful overall, with great service and a wonderful selection of foods. However, you need to come hungry because the food is so deliciously heavy.

Alexandra K.

Yelp
Amazing food- the vegetarian seasonal options were all absolutely fantastic- best gin & tonic I had all summer too. Our water was so lovely and attentive. Outside seating was gorgeous.

Michael S.

Yelp
Currently sitting here waiting to get our food. It's been an hour and a half and we're sitting here starving. Also, apparently a double on an alcoholic drink means putting in less alcohol. My friend is sitting next to me, completely sober. Unbelievable.

Yelp
If you search for a touch of a Czech culture, this is the place. It's hard to find a good quality place which is quite traditional with its food and beer culture and yet modern and not old-fashioned. This is the perfect place, where you can discover amazing food and even better beer. Just try it out!
