108 | Bon Appétit

"GO HERE: for Team Noma’s first spin-off, meant to be looser and more accessible, but alumnus Kristian Baumann’s concise menu of intensely thoughtful, precisely plated food wouldn't be out of place at the mothership. ORDER: whatever appeals to you that day, or splurge on the eight-course menu with wine pairings. The day’s eight dishes depend on what’s growing in Denmark right that second, which could mean carrots and roses with a chilled shrimp sauce or potatoes with smoked egg yolk and caviar. If you’re on a budget or can’t get a table, the attached coffee bar-wine-bar-mini-restaurant, The Corner at 108, is a marvel of culinary and coffee-geek excellence. Here, you’ll find coffee kombucha–brushed pastries; small plates of lamb tartare with smoked egg sauce; grilled lamb belly with asparagus; and stellar wine and beer, not to mention coffee beans from superstar Tim Wendelboe. THE VIBE IS: Noma 1.5. The light, airy space feels fresh and relaxed, despite the attention that has gone into every detail. In summer, sit on the patio and toast the late sunset with a glass of natural wine. PRACTICAL STUFF: Open for dinner every day, from 5 p.m. to midnight. You still need to book about a week in advance: The locals love this place too! Check the posters on the wall for upcoming winemaker and farmer dinners, as well as the weekly wine tasting and the beer happy hour every day. —Christine Muhlke" - Condé Nast

We expected more and were not impressed with any dish; the flavors were OK but nothing more. The monkfish to share was great, but the cucumber as mandatory side dish was not. The two single dishes we had, mushrooms and pork with summer truffle, were both a bit dull. The desserts we had were way too sour. The music was much too loud, but the atmosphere, location, and very friendly staff lifts our rating to 3 stars.

I had their winter tasting menu. Great food, and very welcoming, friendly, cozy service. Staffs there are very humble, constantly asking you how you think and feel about the dish. I had huge expectation and they didn’t let me down. Fantastic experience, and had the honor to go visit the kitchen. Did not take any pictures of the kitchen due to the respect of their privacy.

Food was creative but not very tasty. Only Love the quail with 24 spices recipe for July menu. Should not try the lamp tartare. Service was quite slow. Somehow our order was messed up, and our meal was super long like more than 3 hours. We waited for so long for all the desserts to come out. It really killed all the dining experience. The manager was nice to give us discount. Hopefully they get better next time.

We had a fantastic experience at 108. The ambience and service were on spot. We order some plates from their à la carte menu, every dish was beautiful and the flavors were an exploration of goodness. The sommelier gave some great recommendations and we had a very memorable dinner. I’m looking forward to come back again next time in Copenhagen.

My partner and I had a good time at the restaurant, the vibe was good, and you can see that they have a strong sustainability concept. However, the tasting menu was like a hit-and-miss experience for us. Certain dishes were outstanding, we loved the bread, courgette, the lobster tail and the koji ice cream. But there were other dishes that were rather bland. Albeit beautiful, the edible flowers unfortunately don't seem to add much flavours to the dishes. We had pretty high expectations, and felt that it was met partially.

We were looking to have a nice gastronomic experience in Copenhagen and when I found this place, I thought that it was perfect because it still was a pretty stylish place with a prefix menu but it was also much more affordable. I had the 3 course menu which was 450 DKK and my friend ordered 3 items from the ala carte menu because she is vegetarian. Both of our selections were pretty good. Be prepared for some unusual tastes. The presentation of the food was definitely a work of art. And I know its a weird detail but the bread was AMAZING! Staff was super friendly and attentive. Service was fast and very nicely paced. The space itself is really nice, decoration wise as well it has a hipsterish industrial atmosphere. Its a very big place and even though it was full, the noise level was very low. Great experience!

Google
The overall experience was good. The food was good, service was good, most of the tastes were first heavy and / or oil infused therefore everything in between were quite tart. I'm not sure if it's worth the 1500DKK each person with wine we paid, but quite interesting. The only thing I liked was the environment, quite relaxing and near the harbour. The menu is mainly leaning towards fish, only other protein was quail. They were giving kitchen tours, although it seemed like a random thing rather than everyone. It's a good 10-15 minute walk from the Christianhavn Metro. Would I go back? No. But definitely a good start on the michellin restaurants.

Google
Defined as modern fine dining Nordic cuisine, 108 lives up to its billing. The atmosphere is stylish and modern and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We tried a few starters, the first a simple artichoke dish was a little bland although the presentation was quite nice. The next starter was an Asian inspired dumpling which was tasty although quite delicate. The most interesting dish was the tempura style mushrooms with an egg yolk sauce which were crispy and delicious. The waiters were very well briefed and gave a detailed description of every dish. Although the starters were interesting they were a little forgettable to be honest, apart from the mushrooms. The main course was a honey glazed pork shoulder which was large and meaty. It came with a side of beetroot salad and a few slices of seaweed style crisps with a dip. Although the flavours were quite rich the tastes became a little repetitive after a while as they were a little over powering. Having said that the portions were very generous and for a fine dining meal, it left us very full. The experience was enjoyable on the whole, but the over elaborate style of cooking and presentation made us question whether Nordic fine dining was our cup of tea.

Yelp
If you (or someone in your group) are not emotionally (or financially) ready for Noma, then 108 is a fantastic alternative with more approachable (and lower cost) dishes. We had a reservation for a Friday night around 8pm, and the restaurant was actually surprisingly not crowded at all. Every bite was perfect and complemented with their 108 lager beer. Also, they probably have the best bread I've ever had. The staff were really great, kind, and friendly. Highly recommended for an unforgettable Copenhagen experience! Some background: There's no escaping Noma's influence on the local dining scene, where nearly every top chef has logged time with René Redzepi. But no restaurant is as closely tied as 108, the first Noma spinoff that opened in a spacious stone building in 2016. The chef and co-owner Kristian Baumann (formerly of both Noma and Relae) adheres to the foraging-pickling-fermenting culinary philosophy, serving blue mussels with salted gooseberries and roasted yeast oil, peas with a dollop of caviar encircled by edible petals, and an astoundingly beautiful bouquet of zucchini flowers and summer greens. What distinguishes 108 is its accessibility: There's an à la carte menu, prices are comparatively modest (most dishes are under 200 kroner), and there are seats for walk-ins in the lively, laid-back dining room. Yelp
I had such high hopes for this Michelin rated restaurant: but all I could say I enjoyed was the service, beer, and maybe 1/2 of one of the tasting menu dishes (out of maybe 6 dishes?) Cool location (right on the water), great service - but overall, the food is not worth the price. In my untrained food loving opinion: they tried too many flavors in each dish, and they all clashed. On paper, they sounded great - but did nobody test out the end results of the items?? Either way, maybe I'm too novice for Michelin restaurants, but I don't think I really enjoyed a single dish and it was overpriced.

Yelp
Eating at 108 was one of those sublime dining experiences that you'll never forget. I was very lucky to be treated to this meal! The six of us shared 3 bottles of delicious natural wine (huuuuge fan of the natural wine trend, and glad it carried through from noma!!). 100% get an orange one. It's unlike conventional wines in every aspect, and is very enjoyable. We got two of the orange one. Our waitress didn't seem to know a lot about the extensive wine menu, which was disappointing but understandable. We also ordered the 8-course tasting menu. 9 courses if you count the bread as a course...and you should. We were obsessed with the bread and whipped butter/cream. All 8-courses provide a little something for everyone. Our dinner conversation consisted of ranking the courses and all of our orders were different. That said, we all agreed that none of the courses fell short. We also all agreed that the first of two desserts was the best. It was an unforgettable meal.

Yelp
I made my reservation for 108 weeks in advance out of eager anticipation. That level of excitement made the fall from grace even worse. We arrived promptly for our reservation time and we were hungry. We decided to order everything off of the small plates menu and then to decide if we wanted more. Without further ado, here's what we got. FRESH HAZELNUTS & BELGIAN CAVIAR: Exactly what it sounds like. Shredded hazelnuts, caviar in the middle. That's it. BUTTERNUT SQUASH IN ALMOND OIL: I started eating this and started feeling itchy (*I do not have food allergies). This was shortly after eating the hazelnut dish. This was not delicious anyway, so I decided to stop eating it (despite it costing nearly $25 for a few slivers of squash). My friend started feeling the same way, and then her entire top lip blew up over the ensuing minutes. Despite her very obvious ailment and the fact that we left most of this course on the plate, server never asked what happened. Good times. BLUE LOBSTER IN GREEN TOMATO BROTH: So now my friend's face is swollen (but throat is fine, just itchy) and since neither of us have any food allergies, we weren't quite sure what to do, so we kept eating. This dish is the highlight of the night (aside from the fact that my first two bites resulted in finding two small shells). Fairly plain but picturesque and well put together. I didn't eat the flowers on top; I feel like that might've just been asking for it. BLEAK ROE IN ROSEHIP OIL: NO. NO NO NO NO NO. Second bite into this: got whatever is in the picture I'm posting along with this review. It looks like a plastic fake nail adhesive and felt like one, too. When we **finally** were able to flag down a server to show them, they whisked it away. When they came back, they told me it was a fish gill... they comped this off the bill but like. Really? Reminder: By this point, I've nearly consumed three bites of inedible items and my friend's face is blown up and you hardly can give us the time of day to check on us periodically? Mmk. BROWN BEECH MUSHROOMS IN EGG YOLK SAUCE: At this point, we're ravenously hungry and, despite allergic reactions and plasticky materials in the food, we have no choice but to soldier through. These mushrooms were OK at best. Too hard of a consistency for me, but it's a mushroom so I ate it. It also appeared to be the item least likely to harm us further. BRAISED PORK WITH AUTUMN TRUFFLE: A cool little dish, kind of like savory munchkins. This was good. After the above was consumed, we spoke about if we would get dessert here. Her face was still swollen and I was still boiling mad, but we had concerns about where else we could go to get food. So. We decide to order dessert. Conversation goes like this. ME: My friend and I seem to have had some sort of reaction to something earlier tonight. It could have been nuts or flowers. Does the corn dessert have either of these things? SERVER: No. ME: Are you sure? No nuts and no flowers or flower essence or anything? SERVER: Right, no. CORN DESSERT: Comes out with flower petals all over the top of it. I used to be a server so I try to be extra polite to waitstaff, but I thought I was actually going to start screaming in the middle of this restaurant. I'm telling you about something that is giving someone an allergic reaction and you aren't taking it seriously? The only saving graces of this evening were two male servers who checked on us a couple of times in our regular server's near-constant absence (including the poor guy that had to take the fish gill away from me). Paying this bill was physically painful for me to do. SKIP.

Yelp
3.5 stars: Came here with 2 friends and we left unimpressed. Pros: - Absolutely beautiful space. Tasteful and elegant finishes, furniture, colors, and dishware - Excellent service, our waiters were attentive and friendly - Great homemade bread and butter- we devoured it Cons: - Unfortunately, we found the food OK. Nothing really stood out or wowed us. We ordered a la carte: Green Peas with Lovage And Frozen Elderflower, Soft Leeks With Salted Plums And Aged Cheese, White Asparagus With Smoked Osietra Sturgeon, Lobster Claw With Raspberries, Monkfish With Green Asparagus And Pine, and A Whole Lacquered Quail. Everything was beautifully presented, but again, nothing stood out on flavor. I've had similar roasted BBQ quail in our NYC Chinatown. The food didn't justify the steep prices. We were glad we didn't pay $180 USD pp for the tasting menu. - We really didn't like that they charged 3.13% charge on non-EU credit cards. I mean- even supermarkets and metro doesn't even charge a fee for non-EU cards, what archaic system is 108 using for them to justify a fee, when they already charge sooooo much for everything else? - Also, they will charge 6.09 USD pp for filtered water. Barf.

Yelp
Our table wasn't ready yet when we arrived so they let us sit outside on the patio with full glasses of welcome wine. We were seated shortly after in front of a huge window looking out to christianshavn. The three of us ordered one of each thing off the ala carte (except we got 2 of the white asparagus since I never get it in North America and it's in season). There wasn't anything high end except the lobster dish. No uni, caviar, foie gras- everything was local and in season. They took such simple ingredients to combine them to make dishes that tastes amazing. The service wasn't quite impressive for a Michelin restaurant but that also might be a cultural difference. We chose this sister restaurant since NOMA was closed- but I definitely need to try NOMA after having experienced this cuisine.

Yelp
108 is truly a wonderful experience. The dining room is rather casual, but it's comfortable and open. You can see the kitchen staff. The wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I got the tasting menu. My favorites were the braised pork with autumn truffle and brown beech mushroom. The braised pork was juicy and did the truffle gave it a nice punch to the dish. The mushroom was crunchy and yolk sauce gave it a great balance. The desserts were wonderful, even though I am not much into desserts.

Yelp
Items Selected: Sourdough, Danish Salt, Whipped 'Cream' Raw Lamb, Last Year's Pickles Brown Beech Mushrooms, Kelp, Smoked Egg Yolk Sauce Braised Pork, Cream, Spring Truffle Sorbet of Wild Black Currants, Preserved Pine, Hazelnut Milk Never particularly wowed by photos from others at noma, though I have no doubt of Rene Redzepi's passion or skill, it was with mild curiosity that a table was booked at 108 on Monday evening, the menu small enough that a few plates could be tasted without filling up before dinner at Kiin Kiin at 19h30. Not claiming, pretending or attempting to be noma in any way, the idea instead an a la carte means for the Chefs to show off seasonal and preserved produce collected throughout the region by way simple plates that change day to day, 108 is named for its address on Strandgade across from the newly launched Barr that replaced the former "World's #1 Restaurant," the dining room opening each day at 17h00 though 'The Corner' next door is opened morning and afternoon with a smaller menu including Pastries, Sandwiches, Wine and Coffee. Toqued by Kristian Baumann and situated in big room of blonde wood, concrete and oversized lightbulbs with an American Classic Rock Soundtrack, the service almost a bit *too* casual at times as waiters were plainly seen strolling around checking their cellular phones in the dining room, it was immediately as the restaurant opened that several guests checked in at the hostess' stand, a two-top looking across the space proving comfortable enough and found adorned with enough silverware to last three courses. Offering just a dozen items nightly, at least two of them large format dishes intended to be shared, it was after declining wine that three savories and a Dessert were requested, the water sold at a surcharge much like elsewhere and the total bill nearly $100USD for what was not only underwhelming food, but not a whole lot of it. Starting off with Sourdough Bread and a spread described as "Whipped Cream," the culturing process stopped early to allow for a lighter texture and robust sourness that went well with the surprisingly dense loaf, course one was on the table no more than five minutes after the order was placed, a finely ground round of Raw Lamb served atop Pickles pleasant in terms of texture but almost completely devoid of taste, a total lack of seasoning leaving the whole presentation sort of one note and the Protein itself lacking Lamb's characteristic depth. Only describing plates by ingredients, no real indication of preparation entailed, the next two savories could probably best be described as Bar Snacks at the cost of 50DKK per bite, the Tempura Brown Beech Mushrooms dusted in Kelp with Smoked Egg Yolk Sauce not close to as interesting as the unfried version at Geist that afternoon while the Braised Pork was dry and packed into oily Fritters topped with Cream and modestly flavored Spring Truffles. Not particularly wowed by any of the Dessert descriptions, but willing to look for some reprieve in the one that sounded the least contrived, "Sorbet of Wild Black Currants, Preserved Pine and Hazelnut Milk" once again showed 108 offering mostly one-note flavors, the little frozen discs not particularly pleasant as they were quite acidic and icy while the Milk was served entirely unsweetened with the Pine coming through as a faint mint flavor at the end.

Yelp
This review is about my visit in Sep 2019. I would say being close the Noma's original location and owner's training under the Danish star Chef Rene Redzepi, earns them some brownie points but the tasting menu definitely did not leave a great impression. Some of the dishes were really good. Some others were completely destroyed!! I asked for a table by the kitchen, so I saw what was going on in the kitchen. The chef who was doing the final touches probably was in no mood to put any effort. There was a dish made with collard green or something and then on top of that there was handful of marigold petals!! No dressing and it felt like chewing into dry flower! That too a mouthful! Same with the dessert course. 5 kilos or herbs were thrown on the ice-cream, which made it taste completely bizarre!! Someone please teach the chef that over-doing these destroys the effort of all the cooking staff put in preparing the meal!

Yelp
My husband and I were excited to dine at Restaurant 108 on a recent visit to Copenhagen. It is referred to as Noma's sister restaurant and the chef-owner is a Noma alum. Seasonal and creative, we anticipated the epitome of Danish modern cuisine. In the end, the experience was mixed. We opted for the eight serving summer menu. The first dish was white asparagus with Royal Belgian Caviar and beechnuts. The presentation was beautiful. The asparagus was cut into perfectly equal matchsticks. The flavor was pure and fresh. We cannot get nor prepare white asparagus like this at home! The mood was set for dish two: Green peas with pine and elderflower. The dish was covered in tiny edible flowers and was also pure and delicious. The kitchen handles fresh produce very well. (Unforeseen downside: consuming the pine later triggered my husband's allergies.) Dish three was lobster claw with raspberries. It was okay, but not as special as the first two dishes. Dish four was crispy potato with hip berry and wild roses. We were back on track as this vegetable-emphasis dish was, again, superb. From here, it went downhill. Dish five was steamed greens with broth of whole roasted chickens. It was okay, but I found the greens to be very bitter. I was willing to chalk this up to personal taste. Dish six was raw grilled lobster tail with strawberries and spices. I was not sure how something could be both raw and grilled, but whatever. Again, the lobster dish was okay, but not great. I was also surprised to see lobster featured twice on the menu. Dish seven was a dessert of herbs and flowers. Eh. Dish eight was smoked barley ice cream. Disgusting. It was like licking a camp fire. Way too over the top on the smoke. Even my husband couldn't eat this dish and he usually finishes everything, even if it isn't wonderful. Service at 108 was attentive, but the pace of dining was bizarre. As soon as we finished one dish the plate was whisked away and the next dish was immediately presented. There was no time to pause in between dishes to savor, talk, or digest. The setting and decor of this restaurant was pleasant and some of the dishes were fantastic, but some dishes were bland and others were outright awful. We had more cohesive experiences at other lesser-publicized restaurants.

Yelp
Four stars is accurate for this place. The Asian hostess was a little bit off. Maybe she wasn't happy we weren't drinking alcohol that night. It's funny when staff makes you feel pressured to order drinks at a nice restaurant. Plenty of ppl never drink and it should be totally fine. It was also funny that they added a separate fee to use a credit card, a 25 percent fee!? Then an additional tip. Weird. We were at studio the night before and we checked that wasn't the case. The food at 108 was good but not like blow your mind good. It was fancy but not intimidatingly so. Everything was fresh and tasty and the portions were generous. We left more than full. We got three small plates and then 2 large plates to share amongst three girls. The pork was so huge that there was no way we could eat the remaining 1/3. If you like hazelnuts, definitely get the caviar hazelnuts--they are super generous and it's really good. The green strawberry with lobster was also delightfully refreshing and yummy. I'd come back again.

Yelp
I visited this cafe after thanking e boat tour along the Nyhavn canals. All you have to do is cross he big walking rainbow bridge and it is just in the other end. The coffee and pastry were to die for! Although the space is small the staff is super friendly and you will feel right at home squishing in between customers. Also while my phone was out of juice he barista had no problem helping me charge my phone. For sure I would recommend this coffee bar. It will give you a good taste for Copenhagen.

Yelp
I read a ton about the "cool Nordic style" before i arrived but was still surprised by the bare concrete and industrial feel of the place but the atmosphere was young, vibrant, and exiting matching the food. Being a solo traveler I was quickly seated at this hotspot just off the Christianshavns Canal and the wait staff encourages you to choose three medium plates per person after making sure you are settled with a drink. A friendly neighbor commented that if I was a fan of bread (and who isn't?) that two plates and bread was enough and I thanked her for the tip. I started with a glass of pinto Gris followed by the very interestingly played white asparagus. Then I finished with the braised pork with Spring truffle which was incredible, although a bit on the small side (I guess that's why it was a medium size dish). The waiter made sure to inform me that it was supposed to look like nature and I nodded in agreement, yup, it looked a little bit like it was from the Forrest. I ate slowly and put my phone away to just take it all in - quite an experience but I am only giving it three stars as two dishes and a glass of wine set me back a pretty penny and I was still hungry.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate American Thanksgiving and we picked a great spot. Food was almost all phenomenal and also had a great wine pairing. I found that some of the flavors were a little overpowering and drowned out other aspects of the dish. This place would deserve 5 stars except my expectations were higher than at other restaurants because of the hype. We did ask for part of our lamb shoulder (which was so delicious) to go as the portion sizes are generious, and it ended up getting lost in the kitchen. To apologize we got free shots, and free coffee and a pastry at the cafe the next day, but I really wish we could have eaten that lamb shoulder. It was so good. It still hurts when I think about it going to waste.

Yelp
I loved our experience at 108. We did the tasting menu with wine pairing. I would say the food was a solid 4 stars, service and atmosphere 5 stars. Food: I think we were a bit unlucky with the mains because we lived in New England for years and two of the dishes were lobster. I found the lobster tail good, but not super impressive. I was also a little disappointed in the zucchini, though the egg yolk sauce was incredible, the mushrooms that were on the a la carte menu with the same dipping sauce looked much better. The highlights were one of the lobster dishes with white currants. The entire bite exploded with complimentary flavors in my mouth, which is, after all, the experience you are looking for when you step foot in a Michelin starred restaurant. I was also a huge fan of the peas, which is a testament to the culinary skill at this place (I mean, who thought I would rank a dish of peas so highly.) I also rather enjoyed the pigeon leg, though it was quite a lot of not so dignified work to get to the meat. The deserts were standout, particularly the sorbet with caviar. All wines were solid. Natural wines are not my favorite, but again, I enjoyed the pairings. I could barely keep up with the pace of drinking with the food, the pours were relatively generous. Also, the bread. The bread and butter was insane. Nordics tend to do the most simple of things to perfection, and this bread and butter was certainly the example of that. Atmosphere: We came early in the evening, so it was pretty quiet but then filled up. It didn't get loud, but kept a nice hum throughout dinner. We were positioned quite close to the table next to us, a couple who were also on a romantic weekend holiday, so we had a delightful conversation throughout the evening. In prime summer holiday season, the guests were 100% tourists. Service: Spectacular service from the moment we stepped foot in the door through to the end. Attentive, informational and conversational server (Italian, but I forget his name!) A delight and not a distraction from the meal. We left full, satisfied, and a little tipsy from our wonderful tasting menu experience. I definitely recommend 108 if you are visiting Copenhagen.

Yelp
Why is the restaurant called 108? Well, maybe because there are at least that many better restaurant options in Copenhagen. I had two courses - while they were tasty, each was the size of my palm! Those, and a glass of their least expensive sparkling wine, set me back $75 USD - what a ripoff, and I'm probably going to have to go out again tonight to pick up some food because I'm bound to be hungry again in an hour. And I'm a small person... I wish I'd taken at face value the reviews that mentioned how tiny the courses are for the price - lesson learned. But don't make the same mistake I did - SKIP IT. If you want a great higher-end dining experience that isn't Noma, go to Amass intead - WAY better value.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've had! Food, service and great energy in the room. Also great eclectic wine by the glass list that paired excellently with the cuisine. Paulina was incredibly well informed and extremely helpful with the wine pairings. Cured squid, celeriac, veal hearts and raw Norwegian scallops were all amazing as was the house made sourdough. For a Michelin started restaurant it is priced quite reasonably and the ambience is casual with good energy.

Yelp
You have likely already seen the professional reviews and you are here to know - are they true? You want me to be pithy since I have experienced it. To wit I am here to suggest to you to first go slow if you need my review to convince you by finding a table outside, order a libation to pair with a nibble and tell me that it's not something that Ernest Hemingway would have written about both incredulously and excessively complimentary.

Yelp
Terrible service and even worse food. I have been to several Michelin restaurants and get the need for unique dishes but there is no way to make pureed fish heads appetizing. Was by far worst thing I have ever eaten. Gag reflex was in full effect. Then they followed that course with puréed quail liver and lung- what are they thinking?!? Wine pairings were off and service was terrible. Not sure how this place ever got a two star Michelin rating. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Do yourself a favor and don't go here!

Yelp
3.5 for the food. We rounded down to 3 because of value. We decided to skip the share sized portions as we are lighter eaters and went with 6 small dishes. Garden flower salad, young peas with caviar and a garnish of corn flowers, braised pork with fermented mushrooms and truffle, crayfish with a garnish of flower petals, and baby courgettes, and fried brown beech mushrooms with a smoked egg yolk dip. Let's start with the good: Wine selection was limited but well curated. Our waiter was able to describe in detail the champagne and picked the perfect bottle which we were able to have a taste of before opening the bottle. The peas and caviar was very good with nice presentation. The braised pork balls with truffle was also a great dish, but how could you go wrong with truffle? The fried mushrooms were fantastic. They are long slender mushrooms which were deep fried in a light batter, then dusted with mushroom powder, and dipped in a smoky egg yolk emulsion. It was a fun inventive dish, the best pared flavour of the night. The bad: The wait staff was very rude when we first arrived, lots of eye rolling when we simply asked for the empty table 2 feet away which was not cramped so we didn't have to sit on top of another couple. The two top tables around the restaurant are basically a four top with a minute amount of space between them. Unless you enjoy eating with strangers the seating here is sub optimal. The ugly: Crayfish was unexpectedly bland from a dish which usually has a very distinctive taste. The courgettes had zero taste, not just subdued, actually zero. We ate them simply because they are good for your cells. When the bill came we were not surprised it was as expensive as it was (280 USD including the wine, And no tip), however we felt it was a lot considering the lack of inspiration and poorly composed taste in their dishes, An overall disappointing meal we wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Okay....bottom line--it just wasn't very good. The concepts behind the food were interesting and creative, but the execution and flavors that resulted were just...so-so. I got the tasting menu, and the mushroom dish was my favorite (the rabbit was also quite good, but in general, I'm not a fan of rabbit). Maybe I'm missing something, but I've had Nordic food before, and enjoyed it. Also have had experimental food and enjoyed it, so I don't think I'm off on my assessment. The bread was very good, and the service was outstanding. Was offered a tour of the kitchen and met the sous-chef. All nice, but I don't believe this menu was worth the price. Not wowed.

Yelp
Favorite place to start my mornings. 108 both have the "restaurant" and "Hjørnet" at Hjørnet you can get the most fresh pastry, coffee and others goodies to start the perfect morning. The prices are more than affordable compered to other spots serving the same things. I will highly recommend you to order a bun with cheese, you get them served totally fresh with homemade whipped butter and cheese. Talking about the interior is so classy and the music is giving the place a hipped touch of coolness :))

Yelp
DISCLAIMER: Hands down a 5-star restaurant by global standards, but perhaps in the Michelin world there's some room for improvement. Also, I've not had the opportunity to dine at Noma. Service was top notch. Cocktails were simple and on point. Menu was relatively simple and unassuming. Overall, the meal would be 5/5 if every bite was a perfect bite. However, in a number of dishes, I found that it was up to the diner to construct the perfect bite, the bite that distinguishes a great dish from a perfect dish. Courgette Flowers and Summer Greens: Probably the most beautiful salad I've ever had the good fortune to tear into. Coated with a very light, clean dressing that helped to transfer the meal from the garden onto your plate. Raw Lamb: I found that the lamb had a slightly gummy texture. The meat itself was expertly prepared and well-seasoned but I found myself wishing for more capers in the dish. Brown Beech Mushrooms: Great vegetarian plate, could eat this all night. Interesting pairing of the tempura-style mushroom presentation (with a cornstarch-heavy batter--?--to give an extra crunch) with a smoked cheese dipping sauce. Pork Belly (main course): An amazing preparation of pork. Distinct dark meat, white meat, and braised fatty layers. Perfect pairing with a red-currant sauce and herbs. Rolled up with minted apples... heaven. Desserts: Turns out I like more traditional desserts, rather than the creative and playfully tart options here (note to self).

Yelp
Ambience, presentation, service and wine were 5 stars. Flavor was forgettable. Minimalist seasoning, almost water. Maximalist presentation and price. The bread was above average. Wine pairing was excellent. I had about 6 dishes, and only the mushrooms were something I would get again. Overall, great place to take a date early on in courtship, you won't leave dinner having over eaten, and the waterfront location is romantic.

Yelp
Well deserved one star. Food is very nice. Simple. Minimalistic. With refined taste. Staff very friendly and nice. Too noisy. Some customers that speak too loud. Laugh too loud and even Whistle should be asked to keep it quiet. Maybe is just 'cause of Young crowd in their 30's.

Yelp
I'd start by saying this was such an amazing culinary experience!! Like most others who visit Copenhagen, I wanted to eat at Noma and got my name on a wait list around 5 weeks prior but my name never cleared. When I walked into Noma they recommended I visit 108 instead. I walked over to this restaurant at lunchtime (a min walk) and made a reservation for dinner on a Friday. Boy I'm glad I decided to come here. The owner Kristian Baumann trained under Rene Redzepi of Noma and his food is (what I imagine) as good as the best! I started with the romaine stem salad with marigold petals and turbot roe. Gorgeous presentation and tasted like summer on a plate. Next up was the braised oxtail with truffles. YUMMMMMMY! One of the best dishes I've ever had! Generous amount of shaved white truffle and a party in my mouth. I could eat 12 plates of this thing. I used my hands (as recommended) and popped these babies in my mouth! The last plate I received was the caramelized milk skin with pork belly and spicy greens. My server said if I prefer I could roll it up and eat with my hands. So yet again, I got in there and ate every last molecule. Very satisfying! Dessert was raspberries filled with a rose cream topped with rose granita and a rose crisp. This was totally unexpected! I wasn't sure what to expect with so much rose but it was such a great balance of floral and fruity. And it smelled nothing less than a French perfume! I also got an audience with the chef and the kitchen staff. Such humble folks! I will definitely be back when I'm in Copenhagen again. Can't wait! Overall A+

Yelp
My husband and I came here to dine for an early dinner at 108. Overall, we thought the food was delicious. Our favorites were the caramelized milk skin with pork belly, grilled courgette and sourdough cone. Although we did enjoy the vegetables in the mixed vegetable dish, we felt the presentation and variety lacking. The restaurant scene was happening and did feel very casual yet modern. Why I ended up giving this place a 3 star was the service and perhaps it was just our waitress who was serving us. We were not informed of the special of the day, which we later heard her explain to the couple who were seated next to us. The only time she came by was to check on us was to see if we wanted more drinks and when we didn't, she did not come back again. When we asked for the check, she gave it to us but did not pick it up for a long time. Another waiter noticed that we were waiting and came by with the machine. What surprised me the most, was when we were asked how much we would like to tip. We were definitely put on the spot and felt like we had to tip even though my understanding is that you don't have to necessarily add additional tip to the meal. Perhaps it was an off experience in service but I would still recommend this restaurant to others as we thought the food was delicious and other patrons seemed well taken care of.

Yelp
Man, this place was disappointing. I've been lucky to eat at 3 Michelin Star restaurants, and this place was nowhere close. The service was very nice, generally, so for that I give one star. Honestly though, you couldn't get me out of this place fast enough. We got the 8-course meal paired with wine and only 2 of the courses was ones I actually wanted to finish. It seemed to me that they value presentation and overall "uniqueness" of the dishes to them actually tasting decent. Our first course was a beautiful pea dish in a cream sauce. This was my favorite of them all, but still pretty flavorless and average. They served two lobster courses, while a bit repetitive, were actually pretty good. It was also kind of raw in the middle, which made me nervous and I didn't eat the inner parts. I'm actually feeling a bit nauseous and hoping I don't get sick. The next course was basically a raw zucchini with some dill on top. I love undercooked, crispy vegetables, but I actually couldn't believe they served it to us it was so raw and flavorless. Who would actually enjoy that? Another course was quail, which was served cooked on the outside but completely raw and pink and chewy on the inside. I couldn't eat it. Even if you think eating raw poultry is okay, who enjoys that texture? It was difficult to cut and I couldn't get myself to eat it. Our final dessert was a kelp ice cream with caviar on top. To me, it ruined delicious caviar to eat it with sweet and overpowering ice cream. Again, it seemed they valued weirdness of the dish rather than actual flavor. The worst part of the experience was the check.

Yelp
We were really excited for dinner at 108. It was my girlfriend's birthday, and we were ready to spend a little bit extra and go all out. While the wine and service were both lovely, the food was incredibly disappointing. It's the kind of restaurant that relies quite heavily on their prestige (and quite honestly their relationship to Noma) to lure customers, and not on the quality of the food itself. They seems very focused on appearances of ingenuity and creativity rather than on the flavour. The best dish we had was the bread we were served at the start of the meal, alongside a salted cream. The bread was perfectly fresh and flavourful. Every other dish was tiny, and frankly not good. One dish we ate was a fish ice cream served with caviar, and tasted exactly as unpleasant as it sounds. Another was rabbit loin served with mushrooms, a large component of which tasted like dog food. On top of the disappointing food, the bill for two of us came out to over €400, before any tip. We left regretting having walked in the door.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place! From the quality of food to service, you will not be disappointed. If you are used to high quality of food (e.g., fresh/organic) in San Francisco, you should definitely give it a try. The atmosphere was relaxing and soothing. We ordered 6 entries, 2 desserts, and a number of beers :) the staff were very friendly. You can tell that every staff enjoys working here! We will definitely come back!

Yelp
Arrived: Sunday at 21:45 hrs (June 25, 2017) 2 person walk-in Seated Immediately Service Excellent Dropped my knife: immediately picked-up. A new set silverware was put down as if by magic. Asked about wine and the sommelier arrived in under a minute. Food was good however needs a balance between experimentation, ambition and solid threads of consistency. It can get a little too ambitious. Especially with textures. Presentation was topnotch. Colors: rich, saturated and expressive. Server (and menu) recommend 4 appetizer plates per person. Leading one to think the plates are of tiny portions. I found this to be way to much food. One or two apps per person is plenty. My Ratings: Service: 9 out of 10 Food: 7.5 out of 10 Ambiance: 7.5 out of 10

Yelp
Tried their coffee pastry, lovely! It's crispy outside and warm inside. Perfect for a relaxed time. Seems kids love this place just as much

Yelp
By far the worst dining experience I had. Don't waste your time or money. You will be very disappointed. Food sucked big time.

Yelp
We obviously couldn't get a reservation to Noma, but we lucked out by snagging a reservation at 108 on our first night in Copenhagen. From start to finish, this was a great experience. The interior decor was comfortably modern: lightly painted walls, light wood accents, potted plants, high ceilings. I ordered the grilled zucchini, the oxtail special, and the carmelized milk skin and I have to say that I enjoyed the grilled zucchini immensely. While the carmelized milk skin was definitely creative and something I am glad I ordered it, it was hard to eat (impossible to eat the way they suggested it). I have always hated sourdough bread - why in the world does bread need to taste sour - but the complimentary sour dough was the best I have ever had. The crust was crispy, but the insides were airy and flavorful without being overly sour. I would eat there again just for the bread and that's saying a lot since I traditionally dislike sourdough. For dessert, I ordered the raspberry sorbet and it was interesting ... I wouldn't say it was the best dessert in the world, but it was tasty and the crispy thing on top was delicious. Overall, a great experience - if you can get a reservation, go!

Yelp
Very good. Pricey. Entrees are generous portions to share so don't over do on appetizer. Lamb shoulder was phenomenal. This place hopes to overtake Noma. For the time being it takes less planningbto get a reservation. Trendy. Tasty. In with the In Crowd.

Yelp
This is a sister restaurant to Noma which most foodies have heard of. We made this restaurant a destination on our Baltic Sea vacation. The environment is beautiful and location has a cool vibe in a young active neighborhood in Copenhagen. The food presentation is spectacular. The flavors are very unique. Given how expensive this restaurant is, we did a very small sampling of dishes. Loved the homemade bread. Tried the quail, peas, pork belly and mushrooms. The mushrooms were everyone's favorite. They had a freeze dried type of consistency and crunch with an egg yolk dipping sauce - so full of flavor. The dessert of the blackberry current gelato was everyone's favorite. As you tasted it the flavors seemed to change for sweet to savory to sour and had a hazelnut milk sauce surrounding it - very complex and a sensory experience! We also had the black trumpet dessert which sounds odd but was creamy and great as well. The reason I didn't rate this a 5 is that while the quality and flavors are great, price of these for what you get are way out of line. We got one small plate each (4 total ) and 3 dessert small plates and our bill (no drinks other than water which they charged $20 for)) was around $180. They recommend 5 small plates per person for a meal which would have been over $700. In addition, they added someone's else's desserts to our bill (4 of them) which initially we didn't catch but after paying realized and had to have then refund this. An experience to do if you are in the area, just be prepared for the bill and to leave a little hungry otherwise.

Yelp
Excellent customer service, the staff was gracious and kind. The menu is seasonal so it is always changing, my two favorite dishes was a lobster soup with some raspberry influences to it -- i know, not normal -- but it was so good. Then, something i've never had anything like before -- a green salad with a frozen component in the middle -- hard to explain and unusual but entirely amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant!! The food is different and adventurous but everything is great.

Yelp
Walked in on a Monday night with four work colleagues and without a reservation. Had a short wait but nothing major. The food, presentation and service were all outstanding. We couldn't decide on the small plates so ordered them all and also got the monkfish and slow roasted lamb shoulder mains to split.

Yelp
We didn't get to enjoy our dinner but our lunch was spectacular. Every single bit was delicious

Yelp
Lousy - they are living off past laurels. So lazy and pretentious they do the same lame presentation for both the pork belly and monkfish. They plate both dishes in the middle of some tasteless acidic sauces so they're rendered soggy - Great selection of wines by glass and bottle - have the oxtail at the adjacent coffee bar they run and a glass of wine or coffee. Than go eat at another place cause these guys are packed and just simply don't care about how bad they've food is.

Yelp
The service here is UNMATCHED. We had a 14 course tasting menu with wine pairing and I have never, in all my years, enjoyed a restaurant so thoroughly. The food was impeccable. The wine pairings were amazing. The employees were fantastic. I can't recommend this place enough.

Yelp
I'm a little disappointed in the review I'm about to write. We visited 108 extremely excited. Celebrating a birthday and looking forward to a high level experience. Frankly it's a mixed bag. Location and facility. Very cool spot. Minimal warehouse conversion decor but really cool. Fun playlist of 80's music. Christianshavn is great! Menu. Ala carte and main dish. Just kind of weird. Not the Michelin hopefully unique kind of weird, just weird. Doesn't really seem to be a theme. Just a bunch of misconnected starters. Unless I just didn't get it. Quality of food. Bottom line. Some very very good. Some just not. Pork belly fantastic. Monk fish not. Overall presentations were at a very high level. Very pretty. Very artistic. What does it mean though if the presentation is great but there's no flavor. Service. Just a bit pretentious. I this was a low point. Not bad service exactly but lacking a connection. Checking the boxes. Sorry to say. It was okay. It was expensive but if it was half the price it would still be just okay. I wish them luck. I have no doubt that it can be dialed in and be great.

Yelp
I was expecting a lot more than we received for this Michelin star restaurant. To start with when I called to confirm my online booking (i couldn't find the email 5 days in advance), they didn't have our booking in the system, but had all my contact information saved. Apparently the booking system stuffs up all the time. This should have been an immediate red flag. I work in hospitality so firstly am very aware of wait staff and have a patience with beginners, but also understand that human error occurs. However I'm also very aware the quality of service expected when dining a place like this and the countless mistakes and sloppy service did not seem appropriate in the slightest. Clearly we had a new and inexperienced waitress, which is fine, I understand not having confidence. But pouring red wine into a white wine glass after placing down new ones as well is unacceptable, spilling it on all 3 pours of the table, is unacceptable. Also we were served chilled syrah, I understand 108 has a motto in serving chilled reds so they las longer, but this totally ruined the taste of the bottle. I could notice a considerable difference after warming my glass up in my hands. I appreciate the relaxed vibes in this fine dining establishment, but the music was horrendous, I want to be able to talk and not notice what is playing. But it constantly interrupted our conversation. There were other small things that took away from the whole experience at this restaurant. The food was fantastic, however when paying this much I expected a way better service. To top this off, their way of apologising was giving us 4 free coffee cards.... as travellers who don't live here what use is this. I have worked in restaurants where items should be taken off the bill, or dessert given complimentary. Sorry to have a rant, but I was really looking forward to this and was utterly disappointed. I would never recommend to friends, and would never return.

Yelp
This review was written for the September menu. My girlfriend and I were visiting Copenhagen for a couple of days and I was looking for a unique restaurant with good food in Copenhagen's sea of fine dining restaurants. I chose 108 since I had heard that the owner of the late but world renown Noma opened this new restaurant. Service 5/5 The service staff which seemed to be a mix of the kitchen staff and wait staff were excellent. The service staff was detailed, fast and friendly. Food 3/5 The bread provided at the start of the meal was excellent. It was so fresh out of the oven, you could still smell the slight char on the bottom of the loaf. The crust was crispy while the inside was soft like a pillow. The butter was also perfect in both flavor and in temperature so it was easy to spread like cream cheese. What we ordered: Beech Mushrooms: The dish was served with a clump of fried mushrooms and served with a savory egg sauce. This dish was unlike anything I had before and I found it to be surprisingly delicious. It was almost as if I was eating mushroom tempura and the egg yolk sauce paired really well. Braised pork: The dish was composed of a ball dough filled with shredded pork and topped with a mushroom sauce and truffles. This dish was also excellent. It was like eating a dumpling covered in mushroom sauce and truffles. Very delicious and was my favorite closely tied with the the mushrooms. Pork belly: Here is where things get really weird. The pork belly is served as a massive square of pork belly with a rhubarb apple crepe cake, a sweet red sauce and a plate of leaves and a random assortment of flowers. We were provided with a knife to split the pork belly but I'm a bit OCD so cutting the pork belly into slices was extremely stressful for me. The waitress explained that the pork belly was meant to be eaten by drizzling the sauce on the pork belly and then picking the petals off the flowers and eating the petals with the pork belly. She explained the flowers all have different flavors and could be sweet, bitter or spicy. Frankly I was skeptical so I tried each flower individually and found that the flowers didn't really have much flavor. Nevertheless I followed the waitresses instructions. I found that the flowers altered the flavor of the dish only marginally. All in all the pork belly was delicious but the extra steps was way too much work for little payoff. On top of that the apple crepe was extremely tart. I personally am not crazy about tart food which leads right into our final course. The menu had only 3 desserts: raspberry sorbet, rhubarb and sweet corn. We ordered the latter 2 desserts. I personally had never had rhubarb before but I found it to be very tart and felt that it was too much for me especially after eating a stack of apples. My girlfriend loves tart foods so she found it to be delightful. Finally the sweet corn was bad on so many levels. The corn sorbet was a bit weak in flavor and was much less aromatic than expected. It seemed like the oil the sorbet was sitting was there to compensate for this fact. The little chips on top of the sorbet were disgusting. The flavor was strange and the chips stuck to your teeth when you try to bite them. All in all I felt the dessert choices were very weak With 2 of them being extremely tart which didn't work very well with the extremely tart apple crepes served with the pork belly. Just pass on the sweet corn dessert. It was unique but seriously flopped.

Yelp
"As we finished a cycling trip in Sweden and Denmark, we had a couple of days in Copenhagen last week. Everyone of course talks about NOMA, and we heard many references to the NOMA "little sister" 108. We were able to get reservations from the hotel concierge. Upon entering, this is a beautiful, stylish place, with stylish wait staff. I started with the salad described as "greens with roasted seaweed". it was apparently the freshest greens from their garden. on presentation, it was truly beautiful. There was a crawling little bug in my salad, and the server explained : "see how organic it is". But with a new and equally beautiful salad, there was no taste. Also at the table we tried lamb tartare, which was fine but it was wrapped in a flavorless leaf of some sort. Later I had quail in beet sauce. undercooked and just not tasty. The wine list is only organic wines, with the least expensive at about $100, most over $200. The sommelier was very knowledgeable about the wines, but ours were not very good, at any price. A local later described this restaurant as a "performance" rather than a restaurant, I would agree. I was thinking afterward that the chef should come to my home town and eat at Commander's Palace and see how tasty quail can be!

Yelp
Our first time in Copenhagen, and this was the 3rd Michelin guide restaurant in 4 nights. We tried a Bib Gourmand, a Plate, and 108 was our 1 star (saving the best for last?). Booking from Canada for our table for 8 was easy with their online system, but it does require you to give a credit card and they will charge you if you cancel under 24 hrs. I was only able to secure a early 5pm booking time for our large table, and we pre-ordered a set 4 course menu in advance. When we arrived, our table was right at the front of the restaurant and the side door to their outdoor patio was open. It was a rather cool outside, and since I had my 2 elderly parents (both over age 80) with us, I asked politely if it was possible they could move us to another table because of the cold breeze. The front of restaurant asian girl working there replied in a very abrupt and rude manner that they would close the door and that there were no other tables available. I kept a mental note of that comment, and by the time we left the restaurant (about 7pm), there were still plenty of other 4 person tables that could be put together to accomodate 8. There was also another couple who came in and asked to change tables 2 different times, and the same waitress didn't bat an eye and accommodated them immediately. Luckily our main waitress was very nice, as she recognized us from another Michelin dinner 2 nights ago where she also worked. Food wise, everything was a bit underwhelming in flavours. A lot of ingredients were from their own farm, which I always appreciate. The baby corn with smoked Sturgeon was beautifully presented. The grilled yellow corgettes were bland, even with the smoked egg yolk sauce and salt. Grilled quail was too skinny and lacked depth in it's flavor. Rhubarb parfait desssert was just ok. Pretty decent beer and cocktail (I was offered to taste the beer before ordering it, which is always a plus). Overall the meal was just ok, but a bit of a let down given the 1 star rating (I've been to a lot of 1 star and a few 2 star places all around the world).

Yelp
Our waiter forgot to ask for a drink order to go with our food, and was in general inattentive. Our main, the monkfish was terribly undercooked and watery. We sent it back, and refused to accept a new one as we felt really nauseous after the first one. The dessert was really good, ice cream. This was a couple of weeks after Michelin so we expected better service. But the energy in the place is fun and the menu very well composed.
