"While you won’t eat anything remarkable for lunch at Restaurant 917, you will get front-row seats to a thrilling car show. This daytime spot is located on the second floor of the Porsche Experience Center in Carson, the official driving school of the luxury car company. As you eat dishes like crab spaghetti or a wagyu beef burger in the casual dining room, sports cars will whizz by at 110 mph on the track down below. Most people come here to drift a Porsche 911 with a birthday crew, but the restaurant is still a fun place to sip a martini and have a light bite even if you don’t plan on getting behind the wheel. 15 Places To Have A Unique Dining Experience In LA

"Chances are, your lunch routine is more predictable than a Hallmark holiday movie. So every once in a while, it’s natural to crave a thrill. Like, say, drifting a Porsche 911 Turbo and eating a power lunch at Restaurant 917. The posh, light-filled spot is on the second floor of the Porsche Experience Center in Carson, the official driving school of the sports car company. If you’re looking for the kind of memorable daytime meal where you can feel sensations from more than just the food, drop by this place for an upscale lunch. Once you’re seated in the handsomely decorated dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, the first thing you’ll notice is the racetrack. The restaurant overlooks a smooth speedway dotted with dirt mounds and water-lined straightaways, designed for thrill-seekers to test the limits of German engineering. Booking a driving experience here costs anywhere from $500-$2500 depending on the package you choose, but the restaurant itself is open to the public (and slightly less expensive). photo credit: Porsche Experience Center Los Angeles While you probably won’t eat anything remarkable during your lunch at Restaurant 917, you'll be served a solid meal while sports cars whiz by at 110 mph on the track below. The short menu includes a selection of starters and entrees, like hamachi crudo and crab spaghetti with pesto, as well as heartier choices like a wagyu burger and a 10 oz bone-in pork chop. It’s all basically “international food at a fancy hotel,” but it’s also your best bet for a full-service fine dining lunch in the area. Whatever you do, don’t skip the creative dessert menu. The highlight of our meal was the blueberry and toasted corn paris-brest—a light, ring-shaped pastry with a flaky outer shell and creamy corn custard filling. A meal at Restaurant 917 is almost like a lunch and show matinee, and there isn’t much else like it in LA. It might not be the absolute best food in the city—but that’s not the point. You come here to watch sports car racing from the comfort of your seat, eat Porsche-shaped butter, and enjoy service that skews north of impeccable. Even if you don’t plan on getting behind the wheel, this is a fun place to bring a car-loving friend on their birthday or just sip a craft cocktail and order a small plate or two on your day off. Food Rundown photo credit: Porsche Experience Center Los Angeles Bread & Butter The butter at Restaurant 917 is no ordinary butter. Shaped like a Porsche 911 Turbo, it’s got the smooth finish of an ancient sculpture that’s been carved out a marble block. This very special butter is dusted with sea salt and served with a side of warm table bread. Hamachi Crudo The hamachi is fresh and light, but the heavy toppings totally overpower this crudo. There’s wasabi tobiko, smoked ginger, and a hibiscus ponzu with the sweetness of maple syrup. Skip this and try one of the other raw appetizers instead. photo credit: Porsche Experience Center Los Angeles 917 Burger Blazened with the “917” logo, this wagyu bacon cheeseburger with caramelized onions is equal parts squishy and toasty. It’s officially the best burger you can get at a racetrack. Dungeness Crab Spaghetti The best part of eating this gooey pasta dish is hunting for the tender bits of crab. The basil pesto cream is great too, but the gummy and slightly overcooked spaghetti gets a little tiresome after the first couple of bites. photo credit: Nikko Duren Toasted Corn Paris-Brest Much like riding in a Porsche or drinking fine vintage wine, luxuries like eating this flaky cream-filled pastry don’t come along very often. So we suggest you savor it." - Nikko Duren

"Restaurant 917 has been a secret haven for polished cooking for over five years. Anyone driving down the 405 near the 110 intersection might see a curious sight on the southern side. A building with the large name of Porsche and an array of driving tracks sits just next to the busy freeway looking like a fancy car dealership with a testing ground attached. But the Porsche Experience Center, one of just two in the United States, is a special place to drive fast cars without fear of getting a speeding ticket, and also one of the most underrated places to get lunch in Los Angeles. Restaurant 917 opened five years ago featuring Porsche 911-shaped pats of butter and seasonal fare. With years of operation under its belt and an enthusiastic kitchen team that has stayed the course, 917 has rounded into a consistent, reliable South Bay gem. There’s even an impressive pastry program pushing fine dining-level desserts in this part of town." - Matthew Kang

This is a really cool experience. I have reservations prior to coming, but I didn’t know that you needed to book or make reservations to drive the cars around the track so that’s one thing we didn’t get a chance to do, but we got a chance to look at all of the vintage Porsches that they had in the showroom. We went upstairs and was seated. We got lunch, which was OK. The burger was pretty good. Put you in the mind of In-N-Out we got a seat next to the window so we were able to enjoy our meal and watch the cars go around the track. They have a outside patio area connected to the restaurant where you can go outside and look over at the track and you can also go outside towards the track from the downstairs area. Overall, this was an amazing experience and I definitely would recommend

I’ve been wanting to go here with my hubby for more than a year now, and finally got the chance to go. The food was good. We came as a walk in on a Saturday (June 28) @12pm, and were seated within 10 minutes at a table (we told the front desk we were willing to wait until a table became available since we didn’t want to sit at the bar). Unfortunately we didn’t get window seats, but those definitely seem to be the best seats; if you plan on going in advance(with reservation), I recommend asking them for window seating… but even if you don’t get window seating, there’s a balcony you can go to after you’re done eating; it was really entertaining seeing the Porsches drive around the track, and some drivers even being confident enough to drift or do donuts lol. Our server was amazing. My hubby and I both got the Wagyu burger, and got the truffle topping on our fries, and he got a sweet tea— the total before the tip came out to be $125. Good food, and good atmosphere, I’ll be coming back for Valentine’s Day.🫶🏼

An amazing experience to say the least! I had the burger and my only complaint is the bread. Not it. It falls apart pretty easy. Everything else was great! Coffee was great!

This place is so fun! From the nice views of the cars racing around the racetrack to walking around and seeing all kinds of models, it’s the perfect spot for a car fanatic! Their burger is amazing and their pretzel bread is so good and soft - their butter is so cute shaped like a car. Their bone marrow is also really good and they change it up a bit depending on the season. Their pasta had so much flavor and the serving size was just right. They have private rooms for any private meetings or even events!

Restaurant 917 at PECLA is a total win! The food is amazing, the drinks are awesome, and the staff is super friendly. I love that there’s a track where you can watch different Porsches being driven… it adds such a fun, unique vibe to the experience. Highly recommended! Next time, I might even have the courage to take a spin on the track myself. 😅

This was my second visit to the restaurant, conveniently situated on the second floor, offering the unique experience of dining in elegance while watching Porsche test drives. The staff at the restaurant are exceptionally courteous, kind, and refined. The cuisine served here pairs wonderfully with alcohol, featuring richly flavored dishes. They also offer non-alcoholic cocktails for drivers, ensuring everyone's needs are catered to. Given the exceptional setting and service, the prices are surprisingly reasonable.

Delicious dishes. Delightful service. Enjoyable ambiance. Exceeded expectations. Though we booked driving experiences months ahead of time, we were surprised to hear the restaurant was booked even farther back and, therefore, unable to make reservations on the same day as our driving. The awesome host—Jesus—suggested we arrive as early as possible and he would try his best to get us a seat. Fortunately, he was able to deliver, granting us a table right when the restaurant opened! His kindness, quality service, and attentive care not only made our dining experience more memorable but also positively added to our overall experience at PEC!
