Betong

"‘Betong’ translates as ‘concrete’ in English, which explains the bare walls at this buzzy, simply decorated restaurant. Dishes like the Chef's signature ‘Cold Curry’ (available as an added extra to the tasting menu) showcase his creative heart, but the kitchen's classical technique shines through in highlight dishes like butter-poached skrei cod with pak choi. Dining here is a fun experience, in a space bursting with energy and filled with pumping music; but it might not be the best spot for an intimate romantic date." - Michelin Inspector

Børealis Restaurant Review - London Bridge - London - The Infatuation

"Borealis is an all-day Nordic spot in Borough, and it’s a good bet for some modern Scandi interiors and a serious dose of lingonberries when you don’t have the time to high-tail it to Oslo. It’s the kind of restaurant that can cover a whole host of situations. This place will work as well for a swift business breakfast involving Swedish potato pancakes, as it will for a sit-down, or takeaway, Smorrebrod lunch. But if you’re coming here for a proper dinner over some riesling and moody lighting, be sure to get the frikadeller with pickled cucumber, mashed potato, gravy, and, of course, lingonberries." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Had a wonderful evening here and enjoyed the 8 course meal. Snacks were solid, tomato dish was refreshing, sauce in the squid dish was umami, in fact all the sauces were piquant! Each dish was well balanced and hit the spot. Also order the cold curry and it got the taste buds going, many flavors and textures. But have to say I did think the fried shallots were a little bit overpowering, and would've preferred crispy fried holy basil leaf instead. Overall, this place is highly recommend if you want an evening filled with delectable bites, attentive yet casual service and good vibes.

Out of the 5 course meal we had I really enjoyed 4 of the dishes . Overall the dishes are creative and tasteful. The curry soup as add on is a must try. I only thought the meat was not soft enough and would try to improve this. As a note, on the day I was there, there was a lot of smoke in the restaurant coming from the grill (not sure if they had an issue with the exhaust fan or it is always like this). The staff was friendly.

Really enjoyed our visit to Betong. Our servers were so lovely and attentive and were great at accommodating my allergies. Nearly every dish of the 8 course meal was tasty, just one beetroot dish was a bit bland. The turbot, steak and dessert dishes were particularly stand out! Will definitely make a return visit.

Definitely the best food experience I have ever had in Norway! The food was delicious with superb taste combinations, the staff super friendly and professional. The portions might not be big but they compensate with everything else. Greats value for money as well, which is a big plus in otherwise expensive Norway. Definitely worth a visit. Already listed in the Michelin guide, so go there before they get a star and it will get more difficult to book a table. PS. a tip, book a bar seating for an enhanced experience. And you might also get a bigger portion 😄

This is an incredible, superbly good value for money gem in Oslo. I dined solo and had the 5 course menu. Everything was excellent, delicious and innovative dishes also showcasing Norwegian ingredients. Staff are friendly and there’s a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We had a super 5-course dinner, with the pina colada and caramel dessert as a clear stand out. We chose to have the “world famous curry” as an add on although I’m not sure why it was so world famous, as it was simply a cold curry. Nice atmosphere and service. One thing I would comment on is why put comments on your booking, such as allergies, when you have to remind staff before the food is served. Would be 5 star service if she recognized this when she seated us. Can recommend based on the food though 😊

The service and the food were impeccable. The set menu was perfectly built, my company and I had different favorites along the journey, and the wine by the glass selection is a decent variety. Laidback, unpretentious staff, making it a relaxing atmosphere to just focus on the food experience and your company. Recommend pairing the current dessert with the plum sake. That was a great flavor combo! (Nb, if you have allergies or dietary restrictions, you should let them know in advance. I have seen other comments complaining about that they have a fixed menu and not much wiggle room on the spot, but you should also do your part of the effort and let them know up front if there are any peculiar needs.)

We had the most beautiful veggie and non-veggie 5 course meal here a few days ago. So many flavours all very well matched. Will come to Oslo again just for this food experience!
