A commanding view high above the Tower of London sets the tone - High by Gordon Ramsay isn’t trying to shock or dazzle me with theatrics; instead, it leans into precision and polish, delivering a menu that’s been designed to please without obvious pandering. There’s a sense of restraint here, but not hesitation - each choice feels intentional, considered, and just playful enough to keep it from being too well-behaved.
The 50/50 pairing of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks was a particular pleasure. Each glass met its match with ease - thoughtful and refreshingly unshowy.
Service, too, was with great thought - measured, present, never overstepping. They seem to still be getting a little used to each other, or maybe it was to me. But it was still genuinely satisfying to witness them in their craft.
No massive whip cracks or the challenges that I do tend to love - but make no mistake, you’ll feel the firm hand of intention guiding every bite.
