Restaurant Landhaus Liebefeld

We arrived with high expectations and then left with mixed feelings. Nothing was bad, not at all, but it didn't really knock our socks off either. The room is wonderful, incredibly cosy. We had game and came here especially because you could read that there is still a real connection between chef and hunter and somehow you could feel it. The meat was delicious, tender and flavoursome. The pumpkin soup didn't have much flavour, but the whole pieces spiced it up again. The savoury was rather sparse... and unfortunately overcooked. We had to wait a long time and so with the vegetables, which are always a highlight of the game cuisine, we got the feeling that the leftovers were still being scraped out of the pot. Hmm... but the presentation and the basic game were somehow good. As I said, our feelings were somehow mixed.

When in Bern I would recommend you go here as they serve traditional Swiss food from the season accompanied with a lovely wine. The atmosphere is very warm and the service very friendly. I really enjoyed the evening.

Delicious lunch in rustic setting with attentive personel. Five stars also for lunch menu value: CHF19.50 for a perfect meal. I also tried from the desert tray which was a stand alone highlight. Thank you

I was initially disappointed to see the hotel was still very much in the city, but the ambiance inside is even lovelier than I expected. Returning in the evening for dinner even more lovely, as the restaurant is lit in a most beautiful way, a welcome sight after a day of sightseeing in the city. The decor and lighting are tasteful and cozy. The food was simply delicious! I ordered entrecot that you finish at your table in a delicious herbed butter. Dinner was preceded by excellent bread and olives, then a refreshing sort of gazpacho with a sprinkling of greens. The quality of everything, from these starters to the beef to the fresh, crisp vegetables and fried potatoes, the presentation, was excellent. The evening was rounded out by impeccable service from the attentive and professional staff. From start to finish, a wonderful evening, and a wonderful stay at the hotel. I hope to return.

I visited this location as part of a large group that had an organized dinner, so this review is somewhat impacted by that. First of all, this location is absolutely amazing. Somewhat far from the center (at least on foot), this restaurant is an institution in Bern, and for a good reason. The internal decoration is absolutely gorgeous - especially if you are sitting on the top floor, with the fire pit open and burning. For us it was - moreover, the meat for the main dish was cooked right there, in front of it. Even putting it aside, the appetizer, desert and wine selection were extremely good; and all - including the main dish - came with a vegetarian option. The service was fast and courteous - basically the best that can be expected at this level in my experience. Overall, great location, great service, and great food.
