The 17 Best Restaurants in Dakar, Senegal | Eater

"This atmospheric spot buzzes with a relatively young crowd, partly thanks to the stunning views. The sunset calls for inventive cocktails like the sweet-and-sour Maad, a crowd-pleaser made with a local favorite fruit of the same name (also known as saba Senegalensis). Expect a mix of Senegalese and European cuisines, including slow-cooked lamb shank and mango curry prawns." - Yasmine Fofana

Google
The food here were absolutely amazing. The lamb melts in your mouth and the waygu burger was tender and full of flavour. Spicy shrimp salad, fish and chips and the duck confit pasta were all amazingly cooked! Service was really great, attentive and really friendly server!

This restaurant is in a great location—just a short walk from the convention center and nearby hotels. The ambience is lovely, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I appreciated the server’s honest recommendation of a seafood dish that was a bit more unique and not something you’d typically find at other restaurants. The prawns were absolutely delicious! I just wish the dish had more prawns and fewer noodles. Overall, I had a great experience.

We visited on a week day for lunch. I’m glad we waited until close to one as the place is very crowded with people on lunch break and it is not very large. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Drink service was prompt. I ordered Tuna Tartare and my companion ordered Cod fish and chips. Both were delightful. The sauce on the tuna was a perfect complement along with the arugula salad on the side. The Cod was fried to perfection with a very light flaky batter. Both included fries which were salted with just the right amount. We lingered and ordered desert. Our server recommended the Maple Crunch squares, which was a great suggestion. It was just the right balance of savory and sweet.

Party of 12 for dinner. Fantastic food, presentation and service. Couple of vegetarian options. Everyone had great things to say about the taste. Ambience was outstanding too. Highly recommend. For the food and experience the process was very good.

We had an amazing experience celebrating our daughter’s birthday! It was our first time at the restaurant, and we couldn’t be happier. The waiters were incredibly kind and attentive, making the occasion even more special. Thank you for such a memorable evening—we’ll definitely be back!

A sumptuous meal can make people happy physically and mentally. Because its ever-changing flavors always give people a sense of freshness. This taste experience can bring people endless imagination, which is also the endless charm of the Carré.

I was in town for a conference and chose Le Carré for a nice dinner because it was nearby. I walked in the door and James sat me at the bar and proceeded to take the best care of me for the rest of the evening. I was torn between 3 mains that all looked good, and James talked me into ordering the lamb shoulder. He said it was the best dish they served, and still it exceeded my expectations. I asked him for a wine to go with it, and he recommended a full bodied red that paired very well. For dessert he recommended the crispy maple squares, despite the fact I was considering 3 other options. At this point I felt I had no choice but to listen to James, and again he did not disappoint. This was easily the nicest meal I have had in years. Thank you very much James and the staff behind the scenes at Le Carré. I wish I lived closer so that I could visit again soon.

Excellent choice of wines! Very tasty appetizers, risotto was a bit overcooked. Good location.

Yelp
We've been here a couple times and haven't had a bad experience yet. It's a cozy little restaurant that is both bright and inviting. They have a menu with quite a bit of variety, premium offerings like wagyu burgers and octopus, as well as a host of delicious cocktails and wine options. My colleagues and I have enjoyed every meal we have, with every plate always cleared. The biggest thing that stands out for me is the consistency of staff; my visits have been a couple years apart and one of the lead staff is the same. There's clear pride here. Yes, if you're there during business lunch hour or immediately after work, it's busy, but they advise you in advance. They schedule seating and stay on top of it. Can you feel rushed? Yes, but that's a decision you make taking the reservations available and I think they handle it politely. Doesn't impact your experience.

Yelp
This place was great. Aside from a mess up with the card payment situation which was someone strange. The food was great, the space was beautiful looking right out onto the road, and the food was incredible. Complimentary bread was delicious and fresh. Calamari was very crispy and crispy cod melted in my mouth. Overall a great experience just experienced one mishap with their payment system.

Yelp
Phenomenal meal! Service was top notch and the food was outrageous! Small, & intimate setting right in the heart of town. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
What a little gem! The wagyu carpaccio was our favorite, so fresh and tasty. The duck confit pasta is on the heavier side, but so delicious, perfect to share! Charming ambiance, great service.

Yelp
Cosy and chic place for a little girls' night out. When the place is almost full, it does get quite noisy though. Dishes are lovely and service is friendly. There's the hotel lobby attached to the restaurant. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
We LOVED our experience at Le Carré- the service was spectacular and the food was equally amazing. Although it is attached to the hotel next door, it feels much nicer than a "hotel restaurant" and the selection is great. It's dimly lit and intimate- there are only about 10 tables in the restaurant which was clearly a benefit with the attentive service we received. We started off with the Espresso Martini which was incredible (chocolatey and very espresso focused) and the Old Fashioned (perfectly balanced and not too sweet- I think the best I've ever tried). I couldn't recommend either more. For food we had the Tuna Tartar as an appetizer which was delicious with the perfect amount of kick from the jalapeños. For our entrees we had the duck confit pasta and the gnocchi- both were ideal portions and extremely delicious. I've already recommended the restaurant to my friends in the area and plan on returning the next time I'm in Montreal!

Yelp
Had the Salmon al orange, glass of red blend, and crème brûlée. Shared various appetizers with others. Although the quality of the food was good and the plating was attractive, it lacked depth of flavor. For the price point I expect a bit more. Also, crème brûlée was loose. Service was excellent and that is the reason for 3 stars instead of 2. Chic decor, but not intended for big groups.

Yelp
My wife and I had lunch there on a Friday and the environment is really nice. Food is great and the price is reasonable.

Yelp
We lived this small lovely restaurant on the bottom floor of Les Phillips Square Hotel. We got the grilled Caesar with shrimp, the shrimp were large and well seasoned. The salad was lovely and delicious. We also ordered the hangar steak. It was seasoned well and well cooked. Looked a little different than expected but was very good. The vegetables it came with were also good. We could have done without the fries, but they also were delicious. The child ordered the wagyu cheeseburger, it was huge but he ate the whole thing. It's hard to get a good critique from a kid, but he said it was really good. Great dinner to end the trip!

Yelp
Nice environment, but a bit loud at lunchtime due to the presence of a lot of business people. Appetizers were amazing (tomatoes with mozzarella, and and the best arancini I ever had), but main courses were just fine, not memorable (gnocchi and sashimi bouillabaisse). Desserts were good.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. Wonderful service and very stylish. Delicious food. I had the beef tartare appetizer and grilled octopus main. Enjoyed both. Bread with whipped and slightly sour butter was yum too. Tasty Old Fashioned drink too. All my friends raved about their food too. Definitely worth revisiting!

Yelp
Three of us sat at the bar on Saturday night. The place was packed but the service was fantastic! Unfortunately I don't remember everyone's name but one of the brothers was our bartender and served us perfect cocktails with a brand new logo ice cube while giving us great suggestions for dinner. We started with the Barata appetizer and for dinner we shared the lamb dish as well as two servings of duck confit pasta. Everything was top notch! Service was overseen by the father who quietly stood by providing careful guidance while not being intrusive. All in all this place is top notch and we can't wait to go back! Bravo guys and thank you for a wonderful evening!

Yelp
This restaurant was extremely average and not worth it for the prices. It is attached to a hotel (which we did not realize until our arrival) and the menu is VERY limited. I had the vegetarian pasta which was ok but the pasta was undercooked. The fish and chips were a sad representation of fish and chips, 3 small pieces of fish and French fries that tasted like McDonald's. The duck confit pasta was pretty good though. Overall would not visit again.
