The Best Restaurants and Bars in Little Italy and ‘Mile Ex’ | Eater Montreal

"“We don’t offer ketchup or mayonnaise,” says the menu at Diolo, “We make special sauces for each dish. Be curious!” From mafé, a traditional peanut stew with smoked fish, to yassa, a Senegalese stew with onions, lemon, and habanero pepper, restaurant Diolo features West African cuisine for vegetarians and omnivores alike. Check out chef Edmond’s lamb brochette or whole grilled fish, in addition to their chicken dishes; finish up with thiakry, a sweetened millet pudding for dessert. Spend the afternoon skating at nearby Jarry Park and pick up at the restaurant." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

The best place to eat dishes that taste like my grandmother's recipes. The owner is welcoming and makes you travel in his discussions.a place to get away from it all while eating exotic in Mtl.

Liked the dish, not sure if it was fresh as the chef was absent that day. I had the tiebou diene. The sauce was too salty but it was ok. Enjoyed the ginger juice. Manny things weren't available that day. If I go again I'll edit this review. The place was calm. The waiter was kind.

Authentic thieboudjienne with Senegalese hot sauce. Friendly staff and good food in a nice environment. If you want real Senegalese food, you should definitely check this place out and if you like spicy foods, be sure to ask for the pepper sauce.

Friend got a dibi and I got a tiebou yapp, the dibi was really good! I like the ambiance of the restaurant, it was nicely decorated with a light mood, the plates and all were well combined together, and the food was excellent! Tiebou yapp was a really soft and well marinated lamb leg, and dibi was harder well spiced and smoked grilled lamb chunks. I really wanted to try this restaurant out based on the good reviews saying how tasteful & authentic it was, and only got a chance after a few weeks of anticipating: and I was not let down for sure!

Nice experience. Authentic food and nice service. Try the most popular dish in Senegal the rice with fish, new spices and new experience. The dishes are well presented.

My friend and I were looking for a West African restaurant tonight, and decided to go to Diolo Traiteur for indoor dining. I ordered the Jarret and she ordered the Tiebou Dieune, and they were both absolutely delicious. I thought lamb was especially tender and super flavorful, and with the hot peppers everything went so well together. The owner was also super friendly! We would love to come back again sometime.

Magnifique! Diolo Traiteur is a gem in the neighborhood close to Marche Jean-Talon. This is a family-run small Senegalese restaurant that puts a lot of care and love into their food. The flavors are clean and perfect. It really is delicious food, light, clean and filling at the same time. This is the Yassa Vegetarien. While I am not vegetarian, this dish simply highlights how fresh and flavorful their vegetables and rice is. You will not be disappointed.

Great food, great service, good portions. Will go again to try other items on the menu. Cozy place. Street parking not to hard to find. Thank you for the meal.
