Ina Garten’s Paris: Where to Eat, Drink, and Shop Like the Barefoot Contessa

"It may have been hyperbole, but Ina called this the “best lunch in Paris” after dining here during the Olympics. An Italian-influenced brasserie dating back to 1978, the restaurant distinguishes itself with a menu of fresh pasta, olive focaccia made in-house, special imported mozzarella, and Saturday Milanese specials. The menu changes daily and seasonally, but you can’t go wrong with the fish of the day and a homemade dessert." - Melissa Kravitz Hoeffner

Keith McNally’s Cherche Midi Has Closed | Eater NY

"On the corner of Bowery and Houston, Keith McNally’s meaty and critically acclaimed Lower East Side bistro closed after four years on Bowery; the team said an expiration of its lease prompted the shutdown and a New York State Department of Labor notice recorded layoffs of 46 staffers. Reborn in 2014 (the space had housed Pulino’s in 2008), it opened to immediate acclaim: Pete Wells awarded two stars, Hugh Merwin called it the “perfect bistro,” and I gave it two stars as well, praising McNally’s knack for creating venues that feel like perpetually exclusive after-parties for pretty people while still welcoming walk-ins. The menu included showstoppers such as dry-aged prime rib with ethereal pommes souflees." - Ryan Sutton

Tribeca Sushi Hot Spot Nobu Bans Donald Trump | Eater NY

"The Keith McNally-helmed French bistro at 282 Bowery will close on June 10; the four-year-old Lower East Side brasserie features many McNally signatures — antique mirrors, leather banquettes, a vibe that’s simultaneously warm and hip — and a consistent crowd of downtowners." - Stefanie Tuder

Keith McNally’s Cherche Midi Is Closing This Summer | Eater NY

"Closing this summer after four years on the Bowery, Cherche Midi — Keith McNally’s meaty Nolita/LES French bistro — is laying off its 46 employees in June as the lease expires (a state filing cited economic reasons while the team tells Eater the lease is ending). It opened in June 2014 in the 282 Bowery space that briefly housed Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria and sports many of McNally’s signatures: antique mirrors, leather banquettes, a vibe that’s simultaneously warm and hip, and a consistent crowd of downtowners. The kitchen excelled particularly at meat — known for a big prime rib and other classic bistro fare — and the restaurant received two stars from Eater’s Ryan Sutton and two stars from the Times, often praised more for its reliability as a McNally restaurant than for culinary cartwheels. This is the restaurateur’s second recent closure, after Schiller’s Liquor Bar shut last August, and plans to reopen Pastis have been quiet." - Serena Dai

Google
I loved my lunch at Le Cherche Midi. Bonus was that we were seated outside on a sunny paris weekend in the 6th. As a starter, we ordered the “Burrata et coulis de tomates fraiches” (7/10) Exceptionally for the main dishes, we didn’t order any pasta and tried the “Carpaccio de boeuf olio e limone” and “Escaloppe de veau au beurre et sauge”. Both were fresh and very tasty (10/10). For deserts, we had delicious strawberries and a raspberry sorbet. Of course we couldn’t but order 2 rounds of coffees as we enjoyed the terrasse. I will definitely come again and try more dishes. I like how the menus varies depending on the day and availabilities. This showcases the products’ freshness.

Google
A beautiful Italian restaurant. The lamb chops were perfect! The fresh greens were really nice to eat on a summer evening. The panna cotta was quite good. The interiors are very warm and beautiful. The staff was very friendly even when busy.

Google
Very good authentic Italian food. Cosy ambience is very chich and the service is fantastic. Carlos was great and took care of us. The place has a lot of repeating customers. One the best Italian in Paris and a must visit. Venue changed often.

Google
Italian food in Paris to perfection! What a cute little place, perfect for lunch. Dive into Italy with meals created to perfection! The carpaccio was simple and therefore exquisite, made with only the freshest ingredients. The pasta, wow—homemade with truffle, an absolute delight! I would come back every week!

Google
Stopped in on a Sunday night on my own without a reservation and was kindly greeted . Friendly staff who were happy to explain elements of the menu. Menu included today’s date and looking at previous reviews on Google it seems to change regularly depending on fresh ingredients. I ordered a lamb ragu pasta and the food was hot, pasta was homemade and delicious and sauce was hugely flavourful. Service was also very quick and the servers were helpful and welcoming. Prices very reasonable considering the quality of the food. Lovely location down quiet street, with terrace and indoor tables. Lots of people seem to make reservations especially for the terrace so probably best to book in advance if wanting to sit on the terrace. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice spot to eat! Thank you for your hospitality, I will definitely be back with friends!

Google
Simply the best Italian restaurant in Paris: exquisite cuisine, impeccable service and unique ambiance. The only place where you can have dinner between a famous French actor and an American tourist, while feeling totally at home.

Yelp
What more can you shout than "Murderers!" when you make a Bacon Colonnata suffer as they do in this establishment? And yet, the College Culinaire de France label could make believe that here they respect such a beautiful product. The photo tickles your brain? Oh yes ! Not only is there a lemon, but the bacon is bathed in this juice. No sooner it has passed the door of the kitchen than it begins to cook. Time to ask for some bread, olive oil ... it's dead. At 16 euros the plate, we cry. Then the dish. Spaghetti alla chitarra alla buttarga are spaghetti peculiar to the square shape. Take a look at Wikipedia, it's very informative. Increase the size of my photo as much as you want. Unless our bosses solve the quadrature of the circle, not an angle on the horizon. Especially that spaghetti alla chitarra, which benefit from the name "Traditional food product", must not be at the same price. When we begin to pip on the shape of the pasta, how do you want to be credible on the rest of your menu? As for the Boutargue, it is cut into huge pieces. WTF ?!! The mandolin was broken? !! A maximum of 15 grams fights between pasta. I know it's expensive but the plate is sold 22 euros! Tiramisu teeny-tiny and banal. The setting is nice. The service plays "friendly", Italian and is overall nice. But we feel a House that has existed for a long time, is not picky about cooking, probably because "it's okay", "they will not see the difference", "the times are hard, you have to save money", etc. In the deep of the jungle, we won't complain. 22, rue du Cherche Midi, with the pretension and the tariffs posted, we grumble. Addition of 54 euros for 1. The rating is not disastrous thanks to the quality of basic elements of food, despite everything.

Yelp
Very good Italian food! Lovely ambiance sitting outdoors on a beautiful evening- no smoking allowed, hurray! The veggie antipasto was delicious and I very much enjoyed my homemade fettuccini with truffles. My husband liked his lamb shanks, with cane with a generous portion of greens. Close quarters and slow service, but a cozy, friendly vibe.

Yelp
The food was spectacular! We stopped early in the day to secure a dinner reservation and were greeted with kindness our dinner experience was the opposite Incredible food but horrible service Rafael was our dismissive rude server he rushed us through ordering and frankly was impressed with himself and not his job sadly we will not return

Yelp
We stopped at this Italian restaurant in the 6th (Saint-Germain) right at 3 p.m. as they were closing the kitchen. Begged them to serve us, but all they could offer were cold dishes. Our service was prompt by Paris standards Had fresh mozzarella with halved cherry tomatoes. The bread they served was the most memorable part of the meal - incredible Also had a salad of interesting greens. And an antipasto plate.Even by Paris standards expensive for three cold plates.

Yelp
Very enjoyable and memorable experience in so many ways. The restaurant is tiny, immediately familiar, and incredibly social. The staff treats everybody like family and is multi-multi-multilingual. Tables are set in a way that guarantees you will leave having made new friends and celebrated at least two birthdays - in Italian (clearly, I have a weakness for this stuff). First, bread. The focaccia and its crunchy salt crystals will constantly compete for attention with the rest of your dinner. For antipasti, don't go for the rather bland mixed plate, take the cold cuts instead. Main courses are super simple, elegant, and not too heavy: the ravioli, the veal dishes. For dessert you can opt for panna cotta, which is flawless. Of course a real Italian evening is not complete without incredible-tasting ice cream. I had the pistachio, raspberry, and dark chocolate kinds. Truth to be told, if Le Cherche Midi only served ice cream, I would still love it.

Yelp
This is a great little Italian restaurant in the 6th (Saint-Germain). Here are some quick thoughts: - Expect a really tight squeeze from a seating standpoint - The service was terrible - even by Paris standards - I was introduced to stracciatella. It's similar to burrata, but somehow more memorable. This was served with halved cherry tomatoes. When combined with the bread they served, it was easily the most memorable part of the meal - incredible - Ravioli Pomodoro - good, but not great - Spaghetti Scampi - ok, but it had tiny bits of shrimp - not recommended In reality, this could easily be a 4 star experience if you get a better server and order some different entrees (I'm assuming we may have misordered). You have to order the stracciatella.

Yelp
I promise you, if you have the hankering for REAL Italian food in Paris, get yourself over here. You will sit shoulder to shoulder with strangers and eat the freshest pasta you can imagine. The cheese ravioli with marinara was so simple, so clean, light pillows of fluff. Damn...so good!

Yelp
Great location Small bistro vibe Fresh ingredients Le Cherche Midi is just down the street from where I am staying. I enjoyed my meal, but I wouldn't say that it is the best Italian food that I have had. I had the lamb chops which were very fresh and seasoned to maintain the integrity of the lamb's flavor. My sister had the veal milanese, and I would say the same regarding the freshness and seasoning. Worth a visit if you are nearby, but I wouldn't trek across the city for it. I would like to give it another try later on during my visit because the service is very friendly, and apparently, someone has seen Ina Garten here! I want to see her, too!!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! New menu each day offering a nice selection of fresh, home-made pasta specials. Very cute atmosphere and very nice staff. I would definitely recommend coming here. Get there when it opens as it certainly fills up, but not to the point where it is impossible to sit.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! What a great find. We were in the mood for Italian and our concierge recommended this small place. It is authentic Italian in a lovely neighborhood. We enjoyed our dinner or burrata and tomatoes, melon and Parma and our shared pasta with langoustine. The tiramisu and get fresh peaches for dessert were the perfect finish. We would definitely come here again. Tres bon! Grazie!

Yelp
Great little Italian place in Paris near Montparnasse. They don't speak a lot of English, but they more than make up for it with their friendly service and great food.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best italian in Paris. In fact one of the best Italians I ve been anywhere. I come back every time I am in town. All things considered, I would honestly come here instead of some fancy Michilin star restaurant. Only place I know that serves/sell truffled mortadella. Homemade pastas are a must. Time and meals spent here is definitely more than worthwhile. Seriously.

Yelp
OK well the chocolate cake put this one at five stars... Honestly the servers were nice but kept spilling things on our table (glad I caught the chianti and the glass was empty of water!) and it is unbelievably crowded but that is probably due to the excellent food! The ravioli was fantastic, excellent tomato-basil sauce and very light, the house Chianti was perfect and wow the flourless chocolate cake with ganache frosting... I am so very glad my daughter ordered that and needed help finishing it! yum!

Yelp
Stumbled in here solo after my family fell ill. Had a great meal in a quaint setting and even saw the Barefoot Contessa and her family.

Yelp
The worst meal I've had in Paris! Who would think you could actually have bad pasta in Paris. How this place was packed defies all logic. I've literally had better out of a can (ie Chef Boyardee)

Joe L.

Yelp
I have lunch here almost every time I'm in Paris. It's in a perfect location whether you are sight seeing or shopping (then again I suppose most of Paris would qualify for that), but this place is quite special. It is very small so reservations are recommended and it can seem cramped if you are at all claustrophobic. There are a few separate tables and the row of tables along the banquette are packed in so tight it really becomes a communal table - you get very friendly with everyone sitting near you. Another option is to sit outside if the weather is nice or if you prefer a little quieter atmosphere. It's mostly locals but it does get some tourists (at least at lunch). The food is very good, simple, basic and delicious. The service is always good - friendly and professional. I have never been disappointed.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon lunch at this cafe. Given the restaurants in Paris are "hit and miss" we had the charcuterie plate (cured hams, etc), buffalo mozzarella and the ravioli with ricotta cheese. All superb. Service was solid. We sat outside and it was packed full of locals. Highly recommend.
