The 17 Best Mallorca Restaurants | Eater

"Full of warmth and flair, Nama is a go-to for Southeast Asian cuisines. Half-Sri Lankan, half-German owner Namali Schleberger runs the restaurant alongside chef Bonnie “Bon Bon” Han, who was born in Singapore and raised in Australia, and Han’s Valencian partner, Arantxa. Together, the trio have created a geographically expansive menu ranging from laksa to teppanyaki beef and in the process have turned Nama into one of the most sought-after culinary destinations on the island. Using local, organic ingredients, chef Han’s standouts include the tender massaman beef curry with roti and her spectacular organic chicken and shrimp wontons in chile vinaigrette. This place is a must stop. It has the best food we have tried so far in Mallorca. Not many restaurants put as much effort as this one. It has a very intimate personal vibe, and the service goes above and beyond, no matter what language you speak. The price to portion ratio is very good, and the views speak for themselves.

Nama – Deià, Spain Nama in Deià offers a beautiful dining experience, blending Asian flavors with Mediterranean influences in a setting that’s both stylish and relaxing. Most of the dishes we tried were delicious—well-presented and thoughtfully balanced. The only disappointment was the flavor of the meat, which didn’t quite meet the standard of the rest of the meal. We mentioned it to the staff, and they responded with genuine care. To make up for it, the restaurant kindly offered us two complimentary desserts. It was a thoughtful gesture that showed their commitment to customer satisfaction. Overall, despite that one minor hiccup, the experience was very enjoyable. Nama stands out for its creative cuisine and excellent service. We’d definitely return.

The salad & chicken satay were good (appetizers) but the pad Thai & mi goreng did not taste as expected. The taste was off, the pad Thai tasted like it had laoganma in it. Namamisu was good though (pistachio & dark chocolate). Parking is extremely difficult to find. Also the view was ok, it wasn’t that nice.

Nama was a refreshing change of pace after several days of Spanish cuisine and tapas. We ordered the Pad Thai, which was spicy, vibrant, and packed with flavor in every bite. The chicken green curry was also delicious—rich and aromatic. It came with a portion of rice, though I found myself wishing for a bit more to soak up all that flavorful curry. The service was standard for Spain—nothing exceptional, but certainly not bad. The only real downside was the price, which felt steep. That said, the quality and taste of the food made it worth it. We visited in early May and it was already packed, so I’d highly recommend making a reservation, especially if you’re visiting during high season.

Before booking we were really excited from looking at the menu and the views from their photos/instagram. When we arrived at our booking time it felt very awkward as there was no one waiting to greet us or show us to our table. Leaving us standing there for a couple minutes awkwardly. Eventually we were seated and from there the service was great. Food felt a little overpriced initially but definitely felt compensated for the overall serving sizes, mains are definitely to be shared. The dishes themselves felt very unique despite sharing the name of your typical Asian dishes. Personally I feel the names of kung pao and pad Thai lead me to have a very different expectation of the dish than what was served. It may be better for them to rename them to accurately represent the unique changes they make to each dish as they are definitely not your standard Asian dishes. The terrace definitely felt a little cramped with tables as well.

We had read the mixed reviews about Nama, but decided to give it a try anyway. Unfortunately, we should have listened. While we expected higher prices due to the location, we hoped the food and view would make up for it. Spoiler: they didn’t. The food was well below average. For the price point, we expected something memorable or at least satisfying, but it was underwhelming across the board. The view, which is often mentioned as the redeeming factor, didn’t deliver either. And while we imagined a charming Mediterranean scene with white curtains blowing in the breeze, in reality, the curtains were tied in knots. No ambiance, no magic. To be fair, the staff were friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated. But even that didn’t make up for the missteps. We love dogs and appreciated that they seemed to as well. However, we were uncomfortable watching them pet the restaurant’s dog and then serve without washing their hands. One of our glasses even had dog hair on it. We didn’t want to make a scene, but that was definitely off-putting. Gladly the drink had a straw. If you’re considering Nama for the view, the food, or the atmosphere — don’t. Save your time and money. There are probably far better options in Deià that won’t leave you disappointed.

Beautiful view, sure, but that’s about where the praise ends. Nama feels like a textbook tourist trap tightly packed tables, mediocre “Thai-inspired” food that’s neither authentic nor flavorful, and slow, forgettable service. Everything is wildly overpriced for what you actually get. The real kicker? I got sick about 30 minutes after eating. TikTok definitely did them a favor, the aesthetics might photograph well, but the experience falls flat. Save your money and your stomach.
