"This restaurant’s Cal-Italian menu is beloved by locals who favor the precision and freshness of kampachi crudo with finger lime and micro cilantro or hand-line caught ahi tuna with fresh wasabi and sticky rice cakes. Order the risotto when you sit down — it is a must — and sort out the veggie-protein balance after a gander at the day’s offerings. Feathery gnocchi with Perigord truffle butter is house-made, just like everything else, and makes a fair partner with little gem salad gussied up with tahini and za’atar-draped roasted cauliflower." - Christina Mueller

"Picco is Italian for “summit,” and this charming Larkspur hilltop home has long been a beacon among Marin County diners. Chef/owner Bruce Hill is a true local-food devotee: his Italian-influenced fare heaps on Marin ingredients like the fresh turnips that dot his silky-smooth duck tortelli, or the Meyer lemon yogurt and beets that sit atop a nourishing kale salad. The “Marin Mondays” menu is a particular steal. The precise staff moves ably through the busy dining room, carrying bowls of creamy risotto made on the half-hour. With a high ceiling and exposed brick walls, the vibe is graceful but never fussy, making this the perfect setting for couples and groups of friends who congregate here. Also check out Pizzeria Picco next door." - Michelin Inspector

Excellent service, absolutely stunning atmosphere, and incredible tasting food! The gnocchi & Risotto were especially delicious! Their pizza is also the best in the West, and I highly recommend it as well!

Thomas Sorensen

Google
Excellent food and outstanding service! We had the wood-fired son of yeti pizza which was delicious and the gnocchi which sets a standard for how gnocchi with sausage should be served. Our server, Marcus was on point. His recommendations were spot on and he made us feel right at home. Thanks for a great evening Marcus and the whole staff at Picco!

Google
Wonderful ambiance and very tasty food. The service was pleasant but not top notch as I would expect (pacing was a bit off and a few other minor things). My favorite were the Brussels sprouts, and the chicken sliders. The tuna was also delicious. I would skip the risotto. Fries and calamari were standard fair but I would order them again. Great place for a nice date dinner.

Google
The food was fine, but nothing else, unfortunately. They couldn't find our reservation, even though we had a confirmation, so an outside table wasn't available. Pizza is served only to outside tables. Huh? Basically, only small plates/appetizers are vegetarian. Our orders came one plate at a time over about ten minutes, indifferently set down wherever was convenient, wordlessly. Again: huh?

Google
overall A+: Lovely local place, food amazing, service amazing given the busy dog and child-filled scene, sat outside on a sunny Friday evening: halibut ceviche, filet mignon carpaccio, snap peas, kona pineapple jalapeno onion pizza, bourbon and gin cocktails. Daily specials are fantastic; highly recommend.

Google
Excellent food, very relaxing chilling atmosphere. Been here twice, and have not been disappointed. The Filet carpaccio is a must. It is absolutely fantastic. They are also known for their Brick Oven pizzas. 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻

Google
Like others said, the servers were kind and attentive. They offered a kid size pasta (penne or spaghetti) with butter/parm or marinara, which wasn’t on the menu. If you like, it can come before the adults meal. It came promptly which was really appreciated. Pork chops is a cozy, tasty dish with good sauce. The chicken sliders were spicy but not too much with a great crunchy batter. The gem salad is bright and refreshing. Loved it accompanying the rest of the meals! The Double 8 soft serve is creamy, but light and so good! Everything was delicious and it was a great experience.

Google
Fantastic Italian restaurant at the end of town in Larkspur. Rustic contemporary vibe with lots of exposed brick, very active bar, and bustling dining room. Many small plates and really tempting small plates, pasta dishes, risotto and entrees on the menu. The risotto and pastas as well as veggie sides were delicious and the dessert was out of this world. Although it looks like they make good cocktails here and have a nice wine list, they will also open bottles that you bring in for a corkage fee which they were gracious enough to do for us. The service was great and not overbearing. Parking on street so you might have to drive around a little but otherwise fairly plentiful.

Renee S.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for dinner in Marin. Always great food, good service and I love the ambiance.

Yelp
We dined here on 9/24 at 7 pm with a party of 4. Food was amazing. Ambiance too dark. Could barely see each other. Service the worst I've had in a long time. The older woman who works there really shouldn't work in a service industry. She splashed water on me without apologizing when first pouring us water. I thought something dropped on me from the ceiling and she cheerfully said "oh I must have splashed you".....and throughout the meal, she almost knocked stuff over multiple times. Later she spilled beer and wine all over my partner's father and barely apologized. His clothes were soaked and his phone and car key got wet. Despite all these mishaps, not a single thing was comped even though they spilled all over the poor man and the table. It was also my partner's stepmom's birthday and again no free dessert, nothing. I've never eaten somewhere where there is such a huge mishap and nothing is comped. You should at least offer to cover dry cleaning!!! More on the awful waitress: she talked my partner's mom into not getting the risotto because it would take too long to come out. Then it took forever for them to bring out any entrees and she could have gotten it after all. I repeat: this woman really needs to not work in service. She also never repeated back any orders after we placed them. Her attitude sucked too. Maybe she had a bad day but holy hell. At these prices, service needs to be better. It's a shame that a place like this doesn't have better service because it ruins the experience...

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner here with my in-laws. Our server was very nice and attentive. The food was delicious. Really loved the avocado bruschetta. I had the Sole which was cooked very well. My mother in-law had the risotto and raved about it. We all got dessert, their soft serve is excellent. I got the chocolate with hot fudge while my husband got the vanilla with dark caramel. Both were fantastic.

Gabrielle L.

Yelp
Food and ambiance was fantastic. The avocado bruscetta was both beautiful and delicious, especially the chorizo side topping.

Adam D.

Yelp
This was an outstanding meal! The service was great, as usual. It's always really cute inside, albeit a little loud. Filet mignon carpaccio, crispy rice with tuna, melon and burrata, gnocchi with sausage, and pumpkin curry.

I F.

Yelp
While some dishes where good others less but for 5 starters to end up paying $200 for us equals unreasonably expensive. Would advise to think certainly if you want to go and over pay for good food at a AMAZING food prices.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
This is one of my husband and my favorite restaurants - the inside is so nice and cozy during the winter and in the summer, their outdoor dining is wonderful! You can only get pizza outside - our top choice is the Kona with tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, jalapeño, scallion, red onion, pineapple, house coppa (yes, pineapple goes on pizza!) On their indoor menu, they usually have amazing daily specials to choose from like a savory duck pasta (see photo) or a filet mignon with creamy mashed potatoes. My husband always gets the sausage and mushroom gnocchi - it's one of his all-time favorite dishes. For dessert they have delicious seasonal cannolis that we highly recommend.

Victoria L.

Yelp
One of our favorite casual dinner spots as a family w/ the dog or with friends. The seasonal menus are well-rounded and do a great job showcasing in-season produce. The salads, pizza, starters are all inventive and I haven't had a dish that I haven't liked! They don't take reservations so there can be a wait when the weather is nice.

Linda C.

Yelp
Amazing food and ambience fully recommend. The service is excellent, they are always really attentive to everything.

Tifenn D.

Yelp
We usually enjoy this place but got really disappointed when they served us morels. At first chew our mouth was filled with grit and sand. We tried again and it was the same. They immediately offered an alternative but when the check came we realized they still made us pay for the dish we returned despite the feedback. They claimed that "morels are very hard to clean". It may be true but it shouldn't be the customer's issue. We have been regulars , we live in the neighborhood, and were disappointed by their approach to customer service.

Susan K.

Yelp
Used to be our amazing place but as you can see from my review many years ago- not so much! It hadn't changed! A bit dingy and same food. I believe the pizza may be awesome but went for a dining experience and was very disappointed! If you can get a reservation. there is a reason!

Christina H.

Yelp
Wild Mushroom is the Best!!! Great outdoor seating. Great . Highly recommend the salads too

Stacy T.

Yelp
Fantastic- service, food and ambiance. Wine and cocktail selection doesn't disappoint either. Favorites were tuna tartare, seared tuna crudo and the half chicken. Don't miss the soft serve with olive oil and sea salt. A perfect dessert to cap a wonderful meal.

Trina H.

Yelp
This restaurant is always a winner with super friendly service, insanely delicious food , and a great atmosphere for all occasions

Yelp
I haven't eaten here in years. I used to eat here at least once a week when I lived in Larkspur. I had dinner here last night and the food is still excellent. I didn't ask our servers name, but the check indicates her name is PM Pizze and she was very good. She offered to let me taste a few wines before making my selection and she even asked the manager for assistance in making a wine choice. I ended up getting The Councelor, Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon based on Ryan's suggestion and it was exactly what I was looking for. My friend and I shared the Ahi Tartar and it was perfect. I love the sticky, crunchy rice cake that the Ahi sits on. Next we had the fall salad, which was perfectly balanced. The grapes were sweet and everything including the dressing worked on this dish. Lastly we had the Gnocchi. I've always loved this dish and it did not disappoint. Potato pillows light as air. Thank you Picco for another wonderful experience.

Mario R.

Yelp
I tried the chocolate and vanilla swirl ice cream in a cup with chunks of chocolate cookies on top when I first tried it it was one of the best ice cream cup I've ever had and the service is good they are very nice and friendly here it was so quite in here and would definitely come back again to this restaurant it is definitely worth to come here

Kathy T.

Yelp
Brought my parents here and we really loved the food. Who would have thought avocado bruschetta, a different take on avocado toast, could be that tasty and simple. The tuna bites were my fave--the crunchy rice cake under the tuna tartare was just magnificent. Although you can get soft serve for about $1 at McDonald's, here it was $6, then extra for chocolate hard shell and then extra for the Marcona almonds--but so so so good!

John A.

Yelp
Still the best! I saw some bad reviews and was amazed. I go here at least once a month since they opened. I mostly go for pizza but also splurge a little for the other entrees every couple of months. I'm very particular about Italian food and have eaten it all over the world. This is by far one of the top three restaurants in Marin. For pizza and pasta and other Italian specialties it is the best I've tasted in Marin. Still true now as it was at the beginning.

Alexa S.

Yelp
I have been coming here for over 15+ years and tonight had my first not so great experience. The caramel ice cream is usually my favorite! But tonight it was melted and when I asked for more since there was nothing on it, they told me no it's just "hot". I asked for a side and it was a literal soup. Very disappointed, and no one was nice about it either! Customer service should do better!

ken k.

Yelp
Decided to order to go... pappardelle pasta with mushrooms bland and cold, pick up instructions confusing and workers not engaging. The workers just sitting there and waited a couple minutes before they realized I was waiting for some attention. Customer lost.

Debbie B.

Yelp
I recently enjoyed EVERYTHING at Picco. We arrived early and got a cozy booth. The avocado bruschetta is worth the hype - and they made it sesame free for me! We shared broccolini, halibut and french fries. Our waiter was attentive without rushing us. The highlight of the night was the "half glass" of wine we each ordered - I just love it when they accommodate "just a bit" more. It's the ultimate neighborhood community place.

Christopher R.

Yelp
Two big thumbs down for your switching your soft serve ice cream from Strauss Family Creamery, the first certified organic dairy farm in California, to Double 8. Anyone who has tasted anything Strauss makes knows it all tastes different and undeniably better. Double 8 is completely unremarkable in its flavors. The chocolate is mediocre at best. Too much sugar and not enough chocolate. Appealing to the sugar-addicted mass market. How sad.

Belen S.

Yelp
Loved this place! Location is great right in downtown Larkspur. Service was good as well. The food was really delicious although wine and pastas were a little overpriced.

Josephine F.

Yelp
Pricey! We got there on a Saturday night around 7, prime dinner time, and we had to wait for a bit without having a reservations. We had to sit outside (but they have heat lamps) to get seated sooner. The service was good, waitress was super friendly. We ordered the margherita pizza and the whole branzino which came with bok choy and tempura sweet potato. The branzino was around $50! Both entrees were good. The pizza came out SUPER fast, but we had to wait for the branzino for over an hour. However, the waitress did apologize for the long wait and offered to give us a free dessert or frozen pizza, which was really nice/thoughtful.

Teresa C.

Yelp
The food was good, but not worth the money. C'mon: $20 for a half-order of risotto? The waiter was almost rude and rushed us through our meal. I'd been here many years before and was not impressed. Will not return.

Andree C.

Yelp
Excellent! We throughly enjoyed our meal. The cauliflower with tahini was perfection. The blackened Brussel sprouts delish. The salmon with orzo was small in size but overflowing with flavor. We also loved the ricotta tortellini. Friendly service. Would definitely return. We were ordering take out but the ambiance looked warm and lovely.

Randy D.

Yelp
We had a reservation for a Sunday night. It was busy but not full. The outdoor space is pretty small. Tables inside were a bit crowded. Nice decor. Service was well-paced and attentive. Our server was friendly as expected at this more upscale location. Some of our food dishes were great, but the linguini pasta was a bit chewy and gooey. It was not done right. So we skipped it and just ate the other parts of the dish. Snap peas were the bomb - slightly spicy. They had a very extensive wine list, including "by the glass".

Tony W.

Yelp
Definitely a good spot for a pizza, some wine, and people watching. We ordered a bottle of wine (out of stock of the Rhone) instead got a nebbiolo, the Nero squid ink sea urchin bucatini pasta and the special pizza (sausage pepperoni mozz) Pasta came first, nice and hot, lots of ingredients. Terrific. Pizza, nice but toppings could have been more.. Uniform. We were enticed to get a dessert after, but unfortunately nothing on the dessert menu interested us this night. Perhaps if there was tiramisu, we would have had one

Angela F. W.

Yelp
Wow! I'm so impressed by Restaurant Picco! Made a suggestion coming to this place for dinner to friends and none of us had dined here before. We came on a Saturday evening and were able to get a table inside. We ordered sliders, grilled octopus, and avocado bruschetta to share as our appetizers. Every single dish was outstanding! The sliders were among the best I've ever had and I'm not even a huge fan of sliders. These sliders are so unique with very complex flavors hitting all your taste buds! It even had cucumber kimchi in it. 10 out of 10!! The grilled octopus and avocado bruschetta were equally remarkable!! I'm drooling thinking about them. By this point I was even more excited about my entree which was the sausage gnocchi. When I took the first bite, I was literally smiling in foodie heaven! I absolutely loved this dish, so meaty and satisfying! I got to try my friend's risotto which was timed to cook every 30 minutes. That was impressive and tasted super yummy. But my gnocchi was better of course, haha!! I'm so glad that I finally tried this awesome restaurant and can't wait to return for many more visits in the near future!

Tom C.

Yelp
Pricy, but worth it. It's popular, so plan on arriving early or getting a reservation. The tuna tartare is spectacular, and I also really like the street corn, kennebec fries, risotto, and the grilled chicken. The bar makes excellent drinks, and the wine list is great also. Ambiance is a bit noisy, as the tables are generally all full and there isn't a lot to dampen the sound. But the service is excellent, and the food is really the star of the show.

Deepa R.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place! Our favorite things to order here are the wok tossed broccoli, roasted asparagus, avocado bruschetta, usually a pizza of some sort and my hubby loves the hot chicken sliders! Everything here is so fresh and delicious! I don't think you can really go wrong with this menu! If you haven't been, definitely go! I am sure that it will become a family favorite!

Stacey Jo H.

Yelp
Yummy food on the inside and yummy food on the outside. Good family fun on the outside seating and romantic if you are seated inside!

Tim W.

Yelp
Been here twice now with my wife, as I work in nearby Kentfield. Wonderful atmosphere, everything we've eaten here has been great. We'll be back!

Jeannie T.

Yelp
I crave the gnocchi here and I don't even like gnocchi. My kids were mad when they had their fries and said now all other fries are ruined for them. Their Crudo is proportion is tiny but delicious. Had the most Marin kind of pizza - the kale with roasted garlic and it was delish. I could go on...but I need a nap now...

Sarah J.

Yelp
Overall great food, service and atmosphere. All the food was with fresh ingredients and good well. We enjoyed and cleared all our plates. we ended up getting two appetizers and two pasta dishes, the only thing I wish was different was the gnocchi dish, which had just a little too much of the truffle oil. We also ordered two desserts, but one would've been plenty. Their desserts are big enough to share.

Kegger R.

Yelp
I have never left a subpar review on yelp, but I feel I need to in this case, because I have always really enjoyed this restaurant. We dined here last night with friends, and I have to say that almost everything was very mediocre. The gnocchi was heavy and salty, my salmon was overcooked, cauliflower appetizer was uninspiring, and the cannoli for dessert felt like it had been sitting in the refrigerator for hours. The octopus was quite tasty but otherwise I was very disappointed especially because I've had such great experiences here in the past.

Kim M.

Yelp
Don't forget to make reservations! This place was packed on a Friday evening this month, so having a table for our party of 5 was nice. The appetizers and entrees were delicious- as were the cocktails. Family friendly and beautiful setting.

Paul C.

Yelp
This was once one the best restaurants in Marin, no more. The Crudo barely had any fish in it, the tuna tartare was a soggy fried blob of something with very little tuna on top. The veggie burger was mushy. Really disappointing, the pizzeria next-door is still fantastic but the conversation we had at my table was never again at the restaurant.

Julie D.

Yelp
We ordered quite a few items and shared! So glad we did. The presentation was beautiful and everything tasted delicious. I'm visiting from Arizona and we don't have anything that compares in my opinion. Our server Michael Todd very good care of us. I hope to come again someday. Wonderful meal, wonderful time!

Paulina C.

Yelp
Menu changes. Try the Bourbon slush on a hot day. The cannondale pizza, the grilled octopus w/ butter beans, and any crudo they put on the menu. You won't be sorry. If you are lucky enough to have James as your server, your experience will be elevated. One of the biggest gems at Picco is Aaron. He is one of the most attentive and knowledgeable mixologists I have come across. He is innovative and takes care with his craft. Give him a flavor profile and he will surprise you in the best way.

Nicholas B.

Yelp
We came in without reservations and were seated at a table outside where the atmosphere is just fantastic, so no complaints there. We ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer which was absolutely incredible, perfection! We got a pepperoni pizza for the kids which they loved, and it looked really good. My wife and I both ordered the NY strip which isn't my favorite cut but we wanted steak and that was what they had. It was flavorful but pretty fatty, to the point where maybe 1/4 of it was left in the place. For $53 each I would expect better, but again I'm not really a fan of the cut so I won't hold it against them. Service was friendly and attentive, and as I mentioned the entire energy of the atmosphere was just pleasant. Would definitely return.

Dennis K.

Yelp
We had a 5pm reservation for 3 on a Wednesday night. We arrived on time and with no wait we received a nice window seat. The restaurant started getting very crowed around 5:45 and by the time we left inside was fully occupied including the bar. Service was great although he didn't provide his name. We started with wine by the glass from an extensive menu. I did not recognize a majority of the vineyards which surprised me a bit as I thought Ca. local wines would be there. We started by sharing their signature Kennebec Fries and the Brussels sprouts. Delicious! We decided to share three entrees Pumpkin Ravioli, Gnocchi stuffed with sausage & a half chicken. Everything was served hot & tasty, especially the ravioli which was our favorite. The chicken was small and a tad salty but we left nothing. Dessert room was left so we shared a bread pudding. Again the service was excellent & food delicious. It a bit on the expensive side so if you are going for the full experience expect to leave lots of coin but we really enjoyed the evening.

Natalie M.

Yelp
When it comes to their pizzas, Picco has truly mastered the art. Freshly baked or available as frozen options, their pizzas are the best. However, it's not just the pizzas that steal the show at Picco. Their cocktails deserve equal praise. From the moment you take the first sip, you can tell that the mixologists at Picco are masters of their craft.

Ellen H.

Yelp
Very disappointing meal.I had the chicken. It clearly had been cooked previously and then reheated. It was very dry and there was hardly any meat on the leg/thigh. My husband had the steak which was okay but fatty. We shared the crispy rice tuna and again the crispy rice was very over cooked. The drinks were great and so was the service. The decor is tacky but I could easily overlook it if the chef cared more about the food. I used to love this place. I live right around the corner but I'll walk a little further in the future and dine at the Left Bank. Come on Picco get your act together.

Victoria L.

Yelp
I have eaten at Picco countless times over the years and thought it was one of Marin's best restaurants during Bruce Hill's tenure. It had a great vibe and delicious and innovative food. Over the last couple of years however, the food, the service and the ambiance have become uninspired and mediocre. And...it is very expensive. I sincerely hope that the management use this feedback to focus on bringing back some of the magic and quality ingredients that Picco had, once upon a time.

Lara G.

Yelp
Sad to say disappointing all around. High expectations based on reviews and recommendations. Service was non existent and food was not worth the price. I expected a larger portion and more of a plate for how the salmon was described and at $38. We also had the pappardelle which had absolutely no taste. The server never checked on us...salt or more cheese could have helped. All in all, we won't be coming back and would recommend others to skip this restaurant.

Danny M.

Yelp
I've been living in Marin for years and finally came here to eat last night with my wife for our anniversary. Service was top notch, and the food was delicious. We had a few dishes to share! Salad, Brussels sprouts, risotto, steak, and fries. Didn't have room for dessert but the menu looked good. Nothing much else to say other than to do yourself a favor and get here.

Marie B.

Yelp
Wow, impressed, big time! We had amazing cocktails, fried chicken sliders, and risotto at the bar. Our bartender did a great job with everything. Coming back soon for more good food and drink!
