From the beginning to the end, I was totally satisfied. I especially love the halibut perfectly went well with Thai green curry sauce. The Cotswold beef was absolutely amazing as well. I enjoyed every bit of the dish. In the end, I was too full to finish my dessert. But it was also amazing, crème brûlée with shortbread. I also would like to thank Geza, he took great care of every guest. He was a very passionate storyteller. I enjoyed talking with him a lot. He made such a great cocktail as well, Yuzu Gin Tonic. Keep up the good work! 💚

What an absolute treat at Roots Restaurant in Southbourne last night! 🌿 We went for their midweek tasting menu, and from start to finish it was exceptional. Every course was beautifully presented, full of flavour and imagination, you can really tell how much passion and precision goes into each dish. The ingredients were fresh, seasonal and perfectly balanced, showcasing the team’s incredible attention to detail. The service was just as impressive, friendly, knowledgeable and perfectly timed, making the whole evening relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming, with just the right mix of fine dining and comfort. A huge thank you to the Roots team for such a memorable experience. If you haven’t tried their tasting menu yet, I can’t recommend it enough, an absolute gem right here in Southbourne.

A very intimate dining experience but plenty of atmosphere given how well the team operate. Everything is effortless, well coordinated and the staff are all entertaining and make a huge effort to create a memorable experience. The restaurant is also quite casual, which makes for a more comfortable evening whilst you’re there to enjoy delicious food! We went as a group of 4 to celebrate 2 birthdays and had every course and the wine flight. The optional cheese course is a must! Extremely enjoyable evening and super impressive food!

We couldn't have had a better dining experience at Roots. The service was brilliant, we were talked through all of our courses and given options for wine to compliment the food on the menu. We chose the signature menu which was 14 courses of outstanding plates of food that combined and array of tastes and textures that left us very satisfied customers. I'd recommend an evening experience at Roots to anyone who enjoy really great food.

From arriving we were very well taken care of. Everything was explained, how the menu worked, the options available eg. Vegetarian, The Wine Flight Option (recommend,by the way), any allergies etc. We were very entertained by our waiter with stories and history of the creation of Roots and thoroughly enjoyed but above all recommend the experience as it is an experience, not just a meal!!! Had the tasting menu on a Sunday evening and it had by far been the best food experience my wife and I have ever had. The waiter was attentive, lovely and had great humour making the experience even better. The food was some of the best food we have ever had with such complex and diverse flavours. The chef came out to us at the end and ended up having great conversation. Overall 10/10 experience, locals need to make sure they come here and enjoy the quality that’s on offer.

One of the best wellington I had- the beef is tender outside but also pinky and juicy at the inside! Great effort from the chief. Roasted potatoes are done with perfection. The roasted mooli was also surprisingly delicious! Ham hock & duck liver tastes good on its own, however, the purée did not go well with them - the mixed flavour was too confusing for me. Anyway, still one of the spots in Bournemouth not to miss!!!

We went to this restaurant for our 10y anniversary and it was absolutely delicious. The food was stunning and service fantastic. It was course after course of amazing food and the drink suggestions to go with the courses were spot on. Any foodies in the surrounding area, go here, check it out, and have a lovely relaxing evening with food you won’t forget! We even had a little goodie bag with a copy of the menu to take back with us too. 100% will come back.
