Greeted by totems of history and a real wood burning fireplace, the wild game meats served were the best cuts and flavours I have experienced so far within Canada. First Nations cuisines at its finest. A cultural culinary experience everyone must try. Options for young diners and those who appreciate quality game from elk, venison, bison and more. You can find it all here. Every dish is presented with exquisite visual appeal and the flavours to follow are such a pleasure for the pallet. We ordered the Gallows of the Three Plumes and were able to order and share both appetizers; Sagamité soup and warm duck salad. The maple pie was unexpectedly not too sweet and the perfect texture of a slightly crunchy crust with a custard like body. Can't wait to come back to old Quebec City and try the rest of the menu.

Incredibly flavorful food; unique indigenous menu; prices reflect the quality and craft of the food. We went here on a whim and were thrilled with our meal. I recommend trying the Sagamite soup as an appetizer. The meats of our main dishes were phenomenal and well paired with sauces and veggies. Highly recommend going here.

We enjoyed our dinner at Sagamité Québec. The ambiance was lovely, and the service was warm and attentive. The food was good overall, the wapiti was my favourite, and the experience made for a nice evening.

Can’t fault service. First meal 7/10 Second meal 6/10 Third meal 9/10 Fourth meal 8/10 For me as someone who loves to experience different cultures food. From a country that does not have bison, elk or deer regularly served. This was a very enjoyable meal for me. Trying the different meats and comparing the texture or flavours. It was an expensive meal 100$ +. For me it was worth it, even if some meals were good tasty but not amazing. It depends on what ur there for, I’d say if ur there for the taste of the food and that being the main reason ur there other restaurants will do you fine. If your there to experience a different cultures food and what it could of been like, mushroom sauces, bison, maize, kidney beans. Then you are in the right place.

Highly recommend this restaurant for an authentic taste of local cuisine. Everything was above and beyond! The Sagamite soup was absolutely delicious. There aren’t many places I’d go back to, but this is definitely one of them.

What an experience! The perfect meal for National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. It is a celebration of the local foods of the First Nation. Every single dish was scrumptious!

The dining experience here was enjoyable, but perhaps a bit expensive. We did the three meat combo, and while much of the meat was delicious, one of the pieces was mostly tendon and wasn't edible. It would have been better to have nicer cuts of meat. The maple pie was delicious! Overall, a unique dining experience, but we weren't impressed by the food.

Y'all know that I am a foodie and I know my way around flavors. But my skill pales in comparison with the chefs of this restaurant, who combined flavors with a skill that nearly brought tears to my eyes. I'm not a big "hunk of meat" entree person so I ended up ordering a combination of n appetizers that caught my eye and I felt like would give me a survey of the French-first nations food this restaurant offered. I ordered - the cold smoked trout (in the lox style, not the canned style) that paired beautifully with garlicky yogurt, stewed wild blueberries, and some sort of lightly sweet crumble. I would have never thought to pair garlic, fish, and blueberries together but it was so good! - the foie gras, which I had to try for the first time. The menu description mentioned pairing it with sweet sounding things which I was dubious of but the fatty meat was rounded out by sweet applesauce and golden bannock bread. - the sagamite soup, which paired the traditional three sisters (corn, beans, squash) with elk, bison, and venison. A simple but hearty and nutritious finisher. Logistics: - indoor seating only - limited street parking nearby

Let me start off by saying, please save your money and go somewhere else. I went here bc I saw tomahawk steak on the menu, once we got there I was completely thrown off by the vibes. The prices on the menu did not reflect the quality or the vibe of the place. We got bamboozled into getting their special, the Yatista...which started at a whopping $170!!! We got started with some "native bread". That appeared to be coming straight of Walmart bag. Then we got served the Vincent puff pastry which was comfort food at the best. Then we got this duck salad that was really not great. I didn't taste any duck. After that, we decided to just ask them if we can pay for what we ate and leave. I felt pretty bad because the waiter was nice and thankfully they accommodated our request. We ended up going across the street to Le Continental to eat. Needless to say, won't be going back here. I'm giving them 2 stars purely for the wait staff.

I stopped by this restaurant because it features the food of the Premier Nations and the menu looked interesting. I walked in to an empty restaurant, and I asked if they were serving lunch. The server said they were, and I was promptly seated near the window. The menu has a nice selection of items that would most likely accommodate most diets. I decided to try the duck salad and bison/beef tartare sampler. I asked if they had unsweetened iced tea and the server said he could make me some; which was above and beyond, in my opinion. The salad arrived first, and it was delicious. The dressing was creamy and tangy. The duck wasn't dry and there was a healthy portion. I liked the salad so much, I ordered another one to take with me for my flight the next day. The beef and bison tartare was plated beautifully, served with toast and some greens with the same dressing as the duck salad. I've had beef tartare before, and this was close to most I've eaten. I have never had raw bison; the meat was significantly darker in color. There was a slight aftertaste that didn't sit well with me, it was tolerable but not something I'd order again. I would definitely order the beef tartare again. I don't know why this restaurant is attracting more customers, because the good is exceptionally delicious. The server was very friendly and was able to explain the menu items well and in English.

It was an amazing fine dining experience; great atmosphere, very friendly staff and fresh, great quality and splendid taste. We came here as a group and tried many of the menu items, but most of us ordered "Yatista" which includes Venison Puff Pastry, Sagamité Soup or Warm Duck Salad, Maple Pie, tea or coffee. For your meat, you have the option between shrimp, filet mignon, deer & elk or deer & elk & chef's choice (which was bison at that time). I strongly recommend Yatista as it's a very unique experience where they cook the meat to medium rare, and serve it on a hot stone; once they put it on fire, you can adjust it to your liking. Everything was very delicious; soup, duck salad and of course the pie. My favorite meat was bison and then elk.

DISAPPOINTING DINNER We went to Sagamite looking forward to First Nation inspired cuisine but dinner was a disappointment with poor service. Housed in a historic stone building, Sagamite's décor includes some understated and beautiful First Nation art that gets lost in the noisy and crowded space. Our harried waitress pointed us to a table and then dropped off menus with no explanation - the menu was dirty laminated pages bound between torn and faded vinyl hard covers. Sagamite's menu is cluttered with pastas and pizzas that overshadow its First Nation inspired dishes. We ordered the Soup of the Day ($9), the Sagamite Soup ($16), the Pan Fried Foie Gras appetizer ($29), the Deer and Elk Medallions ($57) and for dessert, cheesecake and maple sugar pie. The highlight of the meal was the pan fried foie gras (large enough for a light dinner) - it was perfectly seared and dusted with crunchy fleur de sel but the bannock was a soggy base for the foie gras. The deer and elk medallions were served rare and were tender and not gamey tasting but the bland sauce covering the medallions added nothing to the dish. We wish the waitstaff had provided a story behind the First Nation offerings such as its Sagamite Soup. For us, it was a thin bland grey colored soup with tough pieces of ground meat - maybe a version with just the delicious Three Sisters blend of corn, beans and squash could be offered. Skip the dishes that have nothing to do with First Nation cuisine - the Soup of the Day was a cream of tomato soup perfect for a diner and the two grocery store quality desserts were not good. For Quebec newbies - note that your bill will reflect two fees - TVQ (Quebec provincial sales tax) and TPS (federal goods and services tax) that will add almost 15% to your total bill. These fees are not in lieu of your tip that is calculated on the food total only.

The service and food was exceptional. We started with the creamy tomato soup which was perfect. Not overly creamy. The Walleye fish was excellent. My wife had the filet mignon cooked medium. She said it was one of the best filet mignon she ever had. The service was super friendly and the prices were appropriate and even a value if you convert it to USD. The next night we went to another highly rated restaurant and the taste couldn't compare to Sagamite.

We had a wonderful meal at this First Nation restaurant. The walleye was perfectly prepared with a side of beet, carrot, asparagus and sweet potato. Someone else in our party had the seafood pasta which they enjoyed. They seem a bit short staffed but it didn't bother us- we had a leisurely lunch and we weren't in a hurry. I would for sure go here again!

It was a really wonderful experience to try the food of the First Nations peoples when I was in QC for the day. I've always been curious about what cooking with native North American ingredients would be like and this place delivers it in a gourmet experience. Well, almost. The one star off was for the appetizer I got, - elk terrine and confit duck rilletes - which felt haphazardly plated and came with bread I could only describe as very basic. Luckily, my main course, the deer short rib, blew it out of the water. Tender and flavorful, but without the intense gaminess you'd usually associate with venison. Service was very lovely and attentive, and t hey gave me tips for what craft breweries to try out in the area. If only I had a little more time to spend there! This place seems to be known for their bbq meat entrées, though because they seem to be more group-based, I suppose I'll have to wait until I get a chance to bring more people to try it out. I will definitely come back to try it out.

Excellent service and excellent food. Our waiter made terrific food/drink recommendations and we were not sorry that we followed his advice. We especially enjoyed the ceviche starter they had on the daily menu.

I had dinner here in late April 2024. I did not have a reservation and was fortunate they had room, as they were expecting a large party later in the evening. I've mentioned this in a previous review, but as a single diner I'm often given the least desirable table, which was certainly the case, as I got the darkest table on the upper level - not an easy feat, considering the entire level was pretty darned dark. (I brightened up the photos as I didn't use a flash.) You always wonder if a place is dark because the food is bad...fortunately, that was not the case. The menu had meats such as venison and bison, but the Canadian walleye over rice caught my eye, and I'm glad it did. It was sumptuous. The sauce on it enhanced the fish instead of overpowering it. My one complaint about the food was that it seemed odd to put a single carrot and single asparagus stem on the plate. They looked awkward next to the generously sized fish. There was also a tiny smear of squash puree on the plate, and I'd have happily eaten a bowl of it. The staff were adequate to their tasks. I enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant with its indigenous decor and the beautiful mural on one wall. I would happily come back to try more of their food.

We did the yatista three meat combo. The soup in my opinion was better than the duck salad. The meat and puffy pastry was flavorful. The yatista would cook meat to much in some spots and not enough in others. Maple pie was to die for. Over a super fun experience and service was so kind. Ambiance was cool and cozy. Did enjoy

The service was impressive. The food was delicious. The ambiance was cozy. My venison and elk medallions were tasty, especially with the blueberry glaze. The potatoes were yummy. I love those potatoes.

The sacrifice game meat was cold, the ravioli was excellent, service was ok. Don't get the pizza it's not good also. Ambience was Native American, was nice a little too dark.

Mediocre food and the staff treated me with what was almost like disdain. It is a tourist destination and they treat you like a "tourist".

My wife and I visited Vieux-Québec for the first time and wanted to experience the terroir with a truly local Québécois meal. I could not imagine a better way to do that than to enjoy a meal at Restaurant Sagamité. The restaurant was created by members of the Huron-Wendat Nation and provides a taste of indigenous Canadian (First Nations) culture. The restaurant space and decor, the front of house service, and the food and drinks are all impeccable. Our meal was hosted by a very knowledgeable local Québécois who provided interesting information about the restaurant, the food, the wines and Québec itself. As tourists, we enjoy nothing more than experiencing the terroir of the places we visit. He really made that happen. Merci, Monsieur! We enjoyed the full Yatista meal, which included venison puff pastry, the eponymous Sagamité soup, the potence of three antlers (deer, elk and bison flambé) and maple pie. I'll post photos of our meal, which was educational, delicious and fun.

Excellent food and excellent service. Accommodated gluten allergy. Had the wallleye which was great. Date had the stew. Finished with maple crème brûlée. Highly recommended.

First I went solo during off hours, I didn't get the memo so management said that was not an option. So plan in advance or make a reservation. I was not going to return, but it was my fault for not checking the menu schedule. So I did return the next day for breakfast. I made a same day reservation reservation and got my parking details as well. The food was yummy. The atmosphere was pleasant. I wanted hot tea, and the management couldn't cind the kettle for it lol, so slow brewed the water for me. The wild turkey on the menu was not not available to accompany the pouched egg; the management offered braised duck. He aimed to please and did not fail. It was so tasty. Jesus, I will return if he wills it.

Great food, Impeccable service, wonderful atmosphere. My wife & I had a wonderful lunch here. Great, modern interpretation of First Nations cuisine. We had been on a private walking tour of Old Quebec the day before & our guide suggested Sagamite as a unique, Quebec dining experience. She was right. As we walked by, we stopped in the make a lunch reservation for the next day. One of the best meals we had in Quebec.

"Wow" doesn't sufficiently describe my meal at this restaurant... I had the Bison Short Ribs and consider it one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Absolutely perfect. My wife had the Elk Ravioli, with Bison, which was excellent but could not surpass the Short Ribs. The mushroom sauce on the Bison was perfect and It never crossed my mind to season the dish with anything, not even a pinch of salt. Reservations are a good idea, but walk-ins are often able to be seated. Really an outstanding dining experience.

Truly a singular dining experience. They squeezed me in on a very full night and I'm so glad they did. I started with the venison puff pastry which was served with three savory compotes - each of which wonderfully, but uniquely complimented the dish. I then had the wapiti (elk) steak served with pomes frites and roasted vegetables. The alchemy though, was in the creamy butternut squash under it all. A dab on each bit of the steak, made it seem foolish to ever eat either, without the other. Amazing. Finished up with the maple creme brûlée and a cappuccino. All in all, a splendid meal at a good price for the quality. Highly recommended!

This unique restaurant is run by a local Indigenous couple and provides excellent food you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. The atmosphere is cozy. The cuisine is a fusion of French and culinary traditions of the local Indigenous Huron people. There is an emphasis on game (venison, duck, elk and bison - a house specialty features a flaming tower of game meat for two), with local flavorings. There are plentiful other options (fish and beef), all prepared in the French style. The elk bourginon that I had was perfect comfort food for the blustery evening. My partners smoked trout appetizer featured a light maple glaze that perfectly complemented the salt of the trout. The wine list is extensive, the service very responsive.

Different atmosphere but clean and pleasant. The service was good. The food was more traditional breakfast food of eggs, potatoes, etc. not bad.

Loved trying First Nation cuisine- was a very tasty and unique experience. We loved the use of native meats, foods and flavors. Our server was friendly and made great recommemdations.

There's a reason everyone leaves 5-star ratings. I had the three-fruit crepes (actually 2-fruit, no bananas for me) and it was just perfect. Rue Saint-Louis is full of good restaurants but Sagamite is well worth the stop.

We dined here after the restaurant was given to us as a recommendation. If you want to truly experience Quebec, I highly recommend this restaurant. Everything about this restaurant is truly a FIVE start experience. The interior design is very unique, with Native American decoration. We decided to dine in on a weekday evening, we had made a reservation beforehand for a party of 4 but upon arrival the restaurant was empty. Our waiter was fantastic, he was very helpful with the menu, carefully describing the menu items to us. For the full experience we decided to have their Yatista, with the potence of the three antlers that had all three meats. We had never tried deer or elk before, so this was a great experience for us! These are usually made for 2 people and you cook the meat to your liking. We had their soup of the day that day, which was delicious. We also had their duck confit salad and cold-smoked trout salad, they were both equally delicious. Hence, overall, our experience here was fantastic, the food was delicious from the meats, the soups and the salads. Everything was impeccable. Service was great, our waiter was so attentive and helpful with the menu. We had never had Native American food and this restaurant set the bar really high! Thus, if you want a true Quebec experience, I highly recommend this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

It advertised itself as a restaurant specializing in First Nations cuisine, but really, it's a theme restaurant with a Native American theme. The food was OK but there are likely better places.

Indigenous Canadian food. For an appetizer my wife got the onion soup, which had the cheese on a slice of toasted bread, not gratine as is typical, but the flavor of the soup was amazing (very beefy), I got the garden salad which was unusual, but delicious. For entrees we had the 3 wild meat tenderloins (elk, deer and buffalo) which came with mash potatoes and a blue berry sauce. Very delicious and tasty. Dessert was the maple pie- very sweet but delicious.

This review is for the Wendake location. I wanted so badly for this place to be good, but try as I might I cannot recommend it. The service was excellent but the food was very underwhelming, maybe the Vieux-Quebec location has their actual chefs? The venison puff pastry was the best item but even then the cranberry sauce was too sweet and the puff pastry tasted like it was fried not baked. Rice needed herbs, venison sausage not very fresh or flavorful tasting but the sauce pulled it all together in the end. Green salad was not fresh and did not have apple cider vinegar as advertised but instead a mayo-based bland dressing. Truly felt like a diner salad, I was picking out soggy cucumber and wilted lettuce. Smoked salmon was only slightly better than what you can buy at grocery store - I have had very good smoked salmon and this is not it. Salmon was also served with some kind of mayo and essentially bacon bits, not the caramelized squash listed on the menu, wish I hadn't ordered it. Overall I felt the kitchen staff were totally phoning it in. Though I stood waiting to be seated for quite some time when I arrived, after I was seated the wait staff were excellent. Menus are falling apart, this place just feels neglected.

Yes to the venison puff pastry and no to everything else. This restaurant is over priced & serves some of the worst fries out there. I wish they had a staple venison burger for dinner for adults but they do not. The service was good, the server was friendly. For a fancy restaurant that charges so much i can't believe they offer paper napkins and no bread or anything for the table! Although we noticed other customers did get stuff we did not. Maybe because we did not appear high class enough. Like i said, get four orders of the puff pastry and call it a day!

When visiting Quebec City, you must visit Sagamité for a once in a lifetime dining experience! We had the four course meal with venison in puffed pastry, duck confit salad, cubes of grilled deer and elk served hanging off a hot cylinder after being set ablaze at our table) that cooks while you eat, and maple pie for dessert. It was all delicious and superbly presented. A true gastronomical feast!

I came here really excited to try the indigenous inspired foods. The meats were perfect, but everything else, from the butter served in plastic diner packs to the limp, overcooked veggies, and excessive mayonnaise on everything, was completely underwhelming. We had the signature Yatista meal "experience". This place has a great concept but the execution has missed the mark, particularly given the price point. Our server Eliot was charming and the best part of the experience. Sadly, I can't recommend the place.

I don't write many reviews. But I really wanted to pick up my plate and clean all the sauce off the plate before it was taken away. The service was great - a wonderful wine pairing with my meal was suggested by staff. And the birch bark canoes and other art make you appreciate the histories of the First Nation. What a top notch meal and ambiance!

What a FANTASTIC brunch spot!! We were nervous because the place was pretty empty during prime brunch time, while La Buche had a 2hr wait. We were starving though and gave it a try. And dang. Their omelettes are incredible, definitely try one with their specialty meats, our friends loved it. The pancakes are also awesome and coffee is 5stars! If we visit Quebec again, this place is on the list to go back to.

Such a lovely concept here but it misses the mark for me with a few things for a restaurant at this price point. The service is just good not great. Very kind wait staff but she needed more help to be truly attentive. The table set up is very inexpensive and a let down for the claim to be a "dining experience". The food is a 7 at the very best. Braised ribs were very good but everything else was just okay including the French onion soup. Overall not what we were expecting unfortunately.

Food was excellent. The menus is a nice assortment of different meats, fantastic pastas and a lovely selection of fish. We went for lunch and it was not crowded, but the service was excellent.
