Tour the Camino de Santiago with The MICHELIN Guide

A Tafona

"There are personal goals in life that develop with knowledge, travel experience and lots of effort, and this is the perspective from which we should assess the career of Lucía Freitas, a chef with an acute awareness for food intolerances and who is indefatigable in her quest for a healthier style of cooking that uses as many vegetables from her own garden as possible. This welcoming restaurant, with an interior design that combines a contemporary aesthetic, open stonework and a large skylight, is the perfect setting in which to savour modern, regionally inspired cuisine that showcases Galicia’s rich bounty (fish, in particular) in dishes that are delicious, colourful and feature strong technique and a feminine touch. Choose between two interesting tasting menus: Sosiego and Algarabía." - Michelin Inspector

"In Santiago de Compostela, I note that Lucia Freitas’s restaurant, A Tafona Casa de Xantar, remains one of Galicia’s most notable." - Robert Sietsema

Amazing resturant! The interior design and decorations are stunning. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, and creative. And the service is excellent; the servers and the kitchen were very accommodating and incredibly thoughtful. If you visit Santiago de Compostela, you should 100% dine at this restaurant!

Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The chef was accommodating to requests for vegetarian friendly menu for someone in our party. Presentation was on point, beautiful, and artistic. Lucia even came out to present/talk about a couple of the dishes. Very fun experience. My favorite foods were the appetizers and pink dessert.

Absolutely brilliant. Top service and ambiance. The food was served with care and you could really see the passion of Lucia in the design and elaboration of the dishes. Lots of amazing local vegetables, seafood, fish and meat. Top experience and highly recommend a visit! Best food experience in Santiago!

Amazing lunch celebrating 2 special birthdays, our first Michelin star restaurant experience in Spain did not disappoint. We chose The Algarabia tasting menu, translated to a Noisy Situation full of happiness and joy. It was a joy, to all our senses from the beginning to the end. The wine flight is highly recommended too!

From appetiters to the main dishes, everything was very nice. The layers of the food were obvious and interesting. However they could do better because the taste of the leaves was too strong for the food. Except the dessert and sweets were quite disappointing especially the green ice thing was awful. The staffs were quite nice though.

6 out of 5 stars! Absolutely incredible meal. Every dish was incredible and so different. I had the anniversary menu which was 6 snacks, 12 dishes and 3 desserts. All amazing. The mushroom dish might have been my favorite although it’s hard to pick!

A small 5 table restaurant next to a hotel. The design of ears of corn carried through all from walls to decorations and appetizers snacks. The cook had made small surprises, twists and challenges to every dish. Tuna served with beetroot and cherry sauce for instance. Or the small cakes at the end. Where one had a texture that crumbled surprisingly. Or another combining white chocolate with basil. We took the wine pairing with the market menu. It was many wines I would never have chosen by myself es. But each carried it's right in it's own again due to twists, surprises or combinations. We had this on a Michelin trip. But the chef surpassed many of the other stops. While having a humble, down to earth attitude. All in all a fantastic afternoon I can recommend from the bottom of my heart.

Delicious tasting menus to explore Galician and exotic ingredients combined, from Lucía's own garden. Excellent service by Martín and Raquel; let them guide you with the wine pairing. Beautiful light at lunch time. Michelin star experience, take your time to enjoy it.

Yelp
Extraordinary experience. Chef seriously has created an innovative menu. I was amazed by the flavor and her "out of the box thinking" masterpiece creations. Seafood tacking to another level. I would strongly recommend pairing with wines recommended by sommelier. He was fabulous.

Yelp
I ate at this restaurant two years ago, I decided to finish my review. I went for lunch and chose the long menu. This place was definitely worth it, only 70 euros for a nice Michelin star 10 course menu, I added the wine pairing which made the meal memorable. I really have such good memories of this place that I will return. The chef that owns this place is really creative and she is well known and highly regarded in the area by the hospitality community.
