Culinary Guide to Getaria, Basque Country’s Must-Visit Coastal Village | Eater

"A newer asador on Markobe Beach that evolved from a beach bar into a glass‑wrapped, wood‑balcony restaurant with striking sea views; it serves daily-caught colorful fish (sardines, mackerel, bonito, sea bream, red mullet) as well as seasonal mushrooms, octopus and kokotxas, pairs dishes with a broad selection of txakoli labels, and is noted for friendly, professional service." - Rafael Tonon

We did not have a reservation and greatly appreciated that the owner was able to accommodate us for lunch. The fish is so fresh and expertly grilled. Friendly, family owned restaurant with amazing food. Hidden gem and highly recommend if you are in Getaria

Very cute local place with fresh sea food sourced locally. The service and the vibe is great, the food is good but nothing special. I feel like it can be a bit less oily and the grilled fish was a bit overcooked

Delicious grilled monkfish, great fresh fish, and friendly staff. Chilled atmosphere in a bar right on the beach

This very popular and lively restaurant sits overlooking the beach with inside seating with big windows to enjoy the views or outside seating (covered in less pleasant weather). We had gone in to book our table 3 days in advance and were made to feel really welcome by the staff. We booked a table to eat at lunchtime on Sunday. They could only offer us seating under cover outside for a late lunch. So definitely book well in advance. We arrived for our meal and received a warm welcomed a shown to our table, the weather was not good but the covered area was dry and free of wind. We had Anchoas en aceite de oliva o con pimiento roj, Croquetas, Gambas a la plancha and Colas de Cigalas Rebozadas (battered Crayfish) with Ensalada de Tomate and fries. Service was exceptional friendly and food was plentiful and well cooked. Definitely worth a visit.

We got a fresh Bonito (a sort of Tuna) that was to tender, tasted like meat! The grilled Sardines were good also. The small clams in oil and garlic was OK but we could have skipped those.

Definitely book ahead of time. We went on a Tuesday in August and we did good booking in advance. Everything was delicious. We started with cold starters, a tomato salad and anchovies with pimientos del piquillo. The tomato was sweet and well seasoned and the anchovies, although were not large were mildly salty and meaty. Very recommended. As warm starter we took almejas a la marinera, who h was out of the menu, they were big and very tasty. We dip a lot of bread everywhere! We took Raya for fish. They were very knowledgeable about all fish and how to best enjoy them the Raya was soft and perfectly cooked. We enjoyed every last bit of it. For dessert the cheesecake was from another world, done with true cheese not only cream cheese. The natillas and flan were also very good. Overall it was of course on the pricey side, about 55 euros per person, but for the amounts we ate and the quality and service, the relationship between quality and price was very good. We got this place recommended by friends and I can only say, it is definitely worth it.

Great food and friendly staff. The restaurant is right in the port. We came here several times while staying in Getaria and tried the fresh shrimps and different grilled fishes (turbot, the seasonal stingray and bream), all tasty. They have a large list of Spanish wine, including Getarian Txakoli.
