"This restaurant, overlooking the luxury yachts in the Muelle Uno dock, stands out for its contemporary dining space that is both elegant and informal. Here, cutting-edge trends and industrial design combine with exquisite vertical gardens and a chillout zone in a space that still remains completely in tune with the style and bright feel of the Mediterranean. Chef José Carlos García, a native of this delightful city, does not offer an à la carte option, instead focusing exclusively on two extensive tasting menus (one features three more courses than the other) that are constantly evolving. Demonstrating impressive technical skill, they feature dishes that champion locally sourced ingredients (around 70%) and showcase time-honoured “malagueño” flavours." - Michelin Inspector

Malaga: Where to Eat on Holiday

"In front of the port, specifically overlooking the luxurious yachts of Pier One, is the eponymous restaurant of Chef José Carlos García . A native of Malaga and in love with his land, García has managed to combine the essence of this province's gastronomy with an interior characterized by light, the vegetation of its vertical garden and industrial design. His cooking is available from two tasting menus where local produce is the center of attention, while the flavors of Malaga guide his imagination." - The MICHELIN Guide

In Málaga, the Past—and Picasso—Shape Its Culturally-Rich Present

"Málaga’s other Michelin-starred chef, José Carlos García, grew up in Rincón de la Victoria, the fishing village to the east of El Palo, and made his name at Café de Paris, a café turned restaurant opened by his dad in La Malagueta, just behind the beach."

Dining at José Carlos García Restaurant in Málaga was nothing short of extraordinary. Located in the charming Muelle Uno, this Michelin-starred and Repsol two-Soles gem delivered an evening of refined creativity, exquisite flavors, and impeccable hospitality. From the moment we arrived, the staff demonstrated thoughtfulness and attention to detail, especially in adapting the tasting menu to accommodate my crustacean allergy, without compromising on taste or presentation. Each dish was a miniature work of art, as visually stunning as it was delicious. The progression of flavors throughout the menu was masterfully curated, with local ingredients presented in innovative and elegant forms. The textures, balance, and seasoning were all pitch-perfect, and the use of unexpected elements felt exciting rather than gimmicky. We also opted for the wine pairing, which was an inspired decision. Each glass was beautifully matched to the course, showcasing both Spanish wines and expert pairing finesse. The sommelier’s knowledge added another layer to the experience. Overall, this was not just a dinner, it was a celebration of contemporary Andalusian cuisine at its finest. Highly recommended for food lovers seeking a truly special dining experience.

I would like to thank Jose Carlos and his incredible team Lourdes, Dario and Salva to make this an unforgettable dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable—attentive an every single detail was just perfect. Every course was a work of art, both visually and in flavor. The tasting menu struck a perfect balance between creativity and comfort, every dish melted in the mouth. The wine pairing was thoughtful and elevated each dish to new heights. It’s clear why they’ve earned a Michelin star—attention to detail, atmosphere, innovation, and hospitality are all top-tier. Highly recommended for a special occasion or if you just appreciate extraordinary food.

2.5 I had high expectations given the reputation, but unfortunately the overall experience was underwhelming. The food felt uninspired—technically fine, but lacking soul or any real highlights. The wine list was surprisingly uninteresting for a restaurant of this level, and the service, while correct, came across as robotic and detached. It felt more like going through the motions than enjoying a memorable dining experience. Disappointing, especially considering the price.

We have been visiting quite a few michelin restaurants and we were not disapointed. We chose the green menu and it was perfect. We also added the cheese platter. Normally I get to full before the desserts but this time the amount of dishes and food was just enough to feel full but still enjoying all the dishes. A favorite was the sunflower “thing” as one of the starters. The texture and salty taste was so delicious. The ravioli with mushrooms and the cauliflower soup was also very tasty! The service and atmosphere was also a 5 star experience. I really recommend this restaurant!

The food is quite good and interesting, but i was not impressed with the service. Everything was 'by a book', but it was really hard to spot a smile on people's faces, and I would not rank my experience as unique enough. I think customer service still has some work to do. The atmosphere and the ambience is pretty nice.

Three-course-menu at Jose Carlos Garcia / 1 Michelin star today: We have bern several times at the restaurant before and although we enjoyed the normal/ large menu, we felt always really stuffed in the end. So we were quite happy as we saw the new possibility for a small lunch. We get four different appetizers, a starter and a main (you can both choose from four different suggestions). In the end, you can have cheese or a desert. And we got four sweets each with the coffee. It was such a great expirience and absolutely worth the money.
