On the Grid : Nueve

"Feeling like drinking Rye and wandering into a speakeasy kind of bar? Nueve is your place. They have everything to charm you with, from classic cocktails to house specials, and they are probably the geekiest ones preparing alcoholic beverages. Right in the same place you'll find the restaurant, which serves great mediterranean food. Let the bartender guide you, the man knows exactly where to take you drink-wise, you'll surely enjoy feeling somewhere in between 1940's manhattan and contemporary Bogotá." - El Monocromo

The 33 Best Restaurants in Bogotá, Colombia | Eater

"Chef Pedro Escobar’s cuisine draws inspiration from his travels, especially from Spain in his tapas and small plates, but the flavor of Colombia is present in every dish. Try the bravas criollas potatoes stuffed with txistorra (Basque sausage), the yucca milhojas with siete cueros cheese and eryngii mushrooms, or the butifarra sausage tempura with lemon mayonnaise. Diners can also order a glass of anything from the robust wine list, which is unique for Bogotá." - Liliana López Sorzano

Nueve is my husband and my favourite restaurant in Bogotá. We’ve had a wonderful experience every time we’ve gone there. We even got to meet the chef once who was very kind and friendly. The food is exquisite and the presentation absolutely beautiful. Our favourite tapa is the milhojas de yuca which I was told has been on their menu since they opened (not sure if that’s true but I’ve seen lots of people order it so it’s popular). I love the perfect fusion of local ingredients and flavours with typical Spanish and other European dishes. I also like that they change some items on the menu from time to time so we get to try more dishes every time we go, and they have a pretty good wine list. I also love the storytelling through the menu, art and text on the walls. It brings some authenticity to the experience at Nueve. While I love the food and decor, I’ve noticed that none of their servers are women. I wonder why that is 🤔

Very nice environment and friendly stuff, very careful and patient . We had 6 dishes in total, the food is amazing, you really can tell the creativity of the food. They also limited the booking amount , so make sure you have the best experience.

If you are a wine lover, this is the place to go. They have an ample selection of very nice wines to try by the glass. You can pair the wine with delicious tapas that combine local flavors with Spanish cuisine. The server was incredible knowledge about the wines and his food recommendations was on point.

Google
This turned out to be a very pleasant surprise; what the menu lists as ‘tapas’ are actually gastronomical pieces of art. Good service.

Tucked away off the main street this is an absolute gem of a place! Tapas and small plates that have their roots in Colombia and a wine list that could have kept us busy for days! However, what really made it for us was having Alejandro as our waiter who was so patient and helpful recommending dishes for us to try. Every one of them was outstanding!! Needless to say the wine was excellent as well. Add to that the final bill was incredibly reasonable. If you aren't sure what to try, trust the serving staff to guide you and you won't go wrong!!

Nueve is definitely a must -try experience in Bogota, you can't miss it. Loved the tapas, it offers a variety to try from different dishes in small portions. It has a mix of Colombian and Spanish flavours. Service was very good, our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. Lovely atmosphere. The wine and cocktail selection is very ample, they really know what they're doing. Loved the napkin menu as well. Also, in order to get in you ring the bell in the house, adorable. Highly recommend this place!

Excellent concept. Small very original plates that bring a new and innovative approach to Colombian cuisine. Some really really good original taste. Great products, great food, great innovation. I would suggest you reserve your table ahead. I would recommend you go there 4-5 guests to taste more stuff. More than 5+ does not make sense.

Restaurante Nueve was exceptional. It's menu features Spanish Tapas and share plates. I greatly appreciated that they deliver the plates one at a time, truly allowing us to enjoy each preparation before moving to the next. We started with a unique approach to squid... It was smoked squid blended with puree of potatoes and baked in banana leaves. Absolutely delicious! The highlight of the evening was the Black Pepper Crusted Pirarucu, a Columbian white fish. The long, individual filet strips were first in fresh cracked black pepper then dipped in a very light crispy soda batter. The strips for incredibly flavorful light and flaky, and wonderfully crunchy all at the same time! Every plate served had a unique, fresh, approach to a traditional plate. All in all an incredibly well balanced well-paced, and delicious experience.
