NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation
"Christina’s, a Polish restaurant that was around for 30 years, has reopened under one of the owners of Karczma. Now under the name Retro Polish Restaurant & Wine Bar, they’re focusing on some zhuzhed-up takes on classic Polish food, like mini zucchini pancakes with smoked salmon, and pierogi stuffed with fried duck. But you can also still get classic borscht and pierogi here." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim
"A reopened Polish restaurant under new owner Slawek Letowski (also behind Karczma), offering items like bite-sized zucchini pancakes with smoked salmon, fried duck pierogi, hefty breakfast plates, weekday happy hour specials, and live jazz on Sundays." - Emma Orlow

Loved every bite. This restaurant offers truly authentic Polish meals. Whatever you try you will not be disappointed. I opted for pickle soup and chicken liver and it tasted exactly like in Poland. Every bite was delicious.
Staff speaks Polish and English. You can hear some Polish spoken among the customers.
It is also, very conveniently located across Polish grocery and book store.
Definitely worth the trip.

This is our second time here and had such a lovely time with great comfort Polish food! The first time was in the summer and we planned to come again which did for our holiday GreenPoint visit last night. Did not disappoint! Food is delicious, reasonable prices and service is welcoming and on point! Love the neighborhood vibe.

Started with some Pierogi Ruskie (Potato & Cheese) and they were divine. Got them pan fried and the crust on them was so good, plus the lightly sweetened sour cream. Yum!
For the main I got the Kotlet Schabowy (Pork Schnitzel) which was actually perfect. Super thin and very crispy, the potatoes were fresh and the egg on top was a nice touch. On the side was some Mizeria (cucumber salad) which was delish.

Absolutely loved this restaurant. It has a very cool atmosphere inside and the food was delicious. My wife got the Breakfast plate while I opted for the Serniczki. They were both priced at about 12 or 13 dollars, and were hearty and satisfying. We went on a Sunday morning and it wasn't crowded inside at all.

The atmosphere is perfect for solo diners at the bar. The service is always so personable, and the food is amazing every single time. It honestly reminds me of my grandma’s Polish cooking.

Been meaning to try this place for a while, it did not disappoint! Food was absolutely delicious. Ordered the Sample Platter, Beet Salad and Chicken Schnitzel. Hard to pick a favorite, everything fresh and made from scratch. Prices were very low, and portions were big, major value. There was some live music too, classic NYC vibes.

This place is great for some super fresh polish food. The fried duck pierogi is amazing - highly recommend that and the fresh Zucchini potatoe pancakes. Love the booth seating and the calm, relaxed vibe of this place. I’ve been here a few times and service and quality has always been consistent.

What happened to this place?
This was really disappointing experience! I ordered the food and picked it up.once home I found a piece of plastic in my food (meat pierogi) which is unacceptable and unsafe. And just plain disgusting. Thank God I was chewing slowly or other wise I would have been at the hospital with stitches in my mouth!
Food safety should be the bare minimum. I hope the restaurant takes this serious and improves their food safety practices.

Yelp
As a polish american who grew up before greenpoint was taken over by the hipsters, I missed this kind of cuisine. It is so authentic to what I grew up eating and I'm so happy this restaurant is here!!! The food is delicious. I had the chicken soup, Hungarian goulash, pasta, the mushroom sauce is delicious too!!!, pierogi. All of it was tasty. My favorite was the Hungarian goulash with the potato pancakes and the chicken schnitzel (kotlet) with mushroom sauce.
I ordered takeout and the food arrived piping hot. Although delivery usually is on uber eats so any issues with delivery isn't usually a restaurant issue. Couldn't take a pic because I devoured the food! The place looks super cute can't wait to go there in person!

Yelp
Killing food. They are also a Japanese-style "vinyl record bar". They also serve breakfast. They are open for lunch w a bar and 150+ year old E European pils on tap. There is everything to like here. It's super clean & the staff is super nice. They "get it". Other places could learn ALOT from them

Yelp
The food here is awesome and the people who work here are super nice. A Yelp review pointed me toward this good restaurant. The team creates welcoming interactions. Every dish shows careful preparation and fine ingredients. You should try the food here.

Yelp
I have orders the sautéd cod with leak sauce! I received what looked like a fish in batter with veggies and NO leak sauce! No sauce at all of any kind! If you did get a new chef shouldn't he know or be trained to make same items as advertised on the menu. I'm not even sure it's the same kind of fish honestly ......

Yelp
I love this restaurant, a very special food, polish but in modern way. A special kind of the pierogi with a duck and mushrooms sos!!!! Very yummy!!!

Yelp
Finally a wine bar serving great bottles of wine with only a 2x markup! This is now the new perfect place to grab a few glasses of wine and have some great bites. The food slants Eastern European but far more modern than all the other places in Greenpoint.
They also love to play old school records later at night, great vibes all around. Definitely a new go to in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Great meals complemented by staff who know their job. The staff shows exceptional kindness and adjusts to requests. The cooking is consistently excellent and the servers maintain standards. The vibe is excellent, the staff treats you well, and it resembles a hidden sanctuary in the city. Completely won over by this place.
