Old school at its finest, down to the display cases and yellow trays, everything is so homemade and delicious. Super kind and attentive service, and the space just exudes classic in every way. Decades of love have been put into this space, with lots of memories made.

I went here for the first time in years and it did not disappoint. A great old school bakery that is not easy to find. The chocolate chip coffee cake did not disappoin.

Used them for my wedding this past October 2023. I specially order a heart shaped cake, I think it was a 10 inch heart with red velvet and cream cheese filling! Best I had and I plan to order for thanksgiving for my family who didn't get a chance to try it.

I have been going to Reuters Bakery for over 30 years. This was on of the best bakeries on the North West side of Chicago. The cakes and Strudels have become abysmal.. it has got a distinct East European flair. I am saddened that I will not be going back to my favorite Bakery again. Hopefully things will get better in the near future.

Great cakes and customer service is awesome. Went in last minute for a birthday cake, didn't know what to get as it was too late to pre-order. The lady suggested a cake that was already made. It had everything, it was yellow and chocolate with strawberries and banana. Also had sliced almonds around the outside. Everyone loved it and asked where I bought it I will always get my cakes here from now on..

Five dollar minimum charge on the debit card. Omg, the chocolate donuts are amazing! Nice coffee cakes too. I tried the long johns but they were too chewy for me. I have gotten some nice cakes here.

This was the first time I have been to Reuter's and I can't say enough great things about it. Alexis was very patient and understanding as I tried to figure out what I wanted. My daughter specifically wanted a black heart shaped cake (mourning the loss of her 20's) and Reuter's did not disappoint! Everyone at the party loved the look of the cake and it was utterly delicious. I can't wait to get my next cake there and to try their other products! Thanks again Reuters! Cathy M.

Very disappointed in the service that I received recently. I have been ordering cakes from the bakery for years. I had my grandparents 70th Wedding Anniversary coming up and decided to order the cake with Reuter's. Before calling the bakery and placing my order, I always email beforehand with either an image of a cake or colors of a specific theme to incorporate. Well, I emailed asking for a very simple all white buttercream cake. I said that the cake could have pipping around the top/bottom of the cake to match the color of the decorations that I had emailed. I specifically stated a "simple all white buttercream cake." When I went to pick the cake up, it was a terrible looking cake with multiple colors all on it. To be honest, I'm not even sure how they got a "simple all white buttercream cake" wrong. It looked like they tossed a cake together last minute. Well, here's the problem. They allow their bakers to leave once the cakes are done which means not a single baker is on staff while customers are picking up cakes. I was offered a refund OR told to pick a cake from their freezer that looked like they had been sitting. I was told that a baker could come in after 4 which did me no good at that point. Later, I called and spoke to a manager who clearly had a problem with taking accountability, and stated that maybe the baker was confused and thought I wanted a white cake inside. Make no mistake that my email clearly stated a yellow cake with fresh strawberries and an all white round buttercream cake. When running a business I would think you'd have a baker on staff until all orders are picked up. The manager stated that this has happened before, and that they just give refunds. When I pointed out how they haven't learned from prior incidents she attempted to backtrack on her statement. A 70th Wedding Anniversary doesn't happen often, and I feel like the day was ruined as we had no actual cake, and had to buy cupcakes because we had no better alternative or time. If I could give zero stars I would!

i wrote about Reuter's in 2014, so this is an update. I was moved to write because I was given a large heart cookie with sprinkles on Valentine's Day. To be truthful, I thought to myself..."It's a plain sugar cookie, don't expect much". Well, was i wrong! i took a piece, then another piece...and well, only meaning to eat half, I finish it in no time flat. Where was the cookie from? Reuter's! I commented on how good the cookie was to my adult daughter. She also had one of these heart cookies, but hadn't yet tried it. The next day, she said the same thing...that it looked ordinary, but it was extra yummy. Because of the Covid pandemic, i had not been in Reuters for two years. It was a very happy day when I was back. If only i had known how good that large sugar cookie tasted beforehand, I would have bought some. However, I was able to get fresh strawberry donuts, chocolate covered donuts, custard donuts, fancy cookies.....you get the idea. Bakery heaven! Keep up the good work! :)

Ordered a cake for my Son's Bday on Super Bowl Sunday this cake was delicious moist a beautiful. As always our Family will always return

I adore this bakery. The theme was Toy Story for my girls' birthday party. This cake was breath taking. But, I dont expect any less from here! (The top part looks like that bc the hubby already started cutting it when I remembered we hadnt taken a picture!) Mind blowing cakes We started ordering here from my first pregnancy for our baby shower cake. Now, two kids later, my eldest is 3, and they will always have our patronage THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!

Went to a wedding and asked where the cake was from. I know the bride. This place ruined her wedding cake. She asked for some marbled effect. And it looked as if someone took that cake home and tried to practice fondant with it and that's the cake that was presented to her . What a embarrassment for this establishment. We used to only go to rosers on north ave. We stop going there years ago because we found Reuters was closer and the cake inside was delicious. But not no more. We will go back to rosers and even try out other bakeries. They are definitely a swing and a miss at this place. Take your chances. But three hundred dollars for a cake you let someone practice on and presented to a customer for what was a beautiful magical day. I would NEVER AGAIN waste money here at Reuters

Reuter's can do no wrong. As far as bakeries go, they have the absolute best cookies EVER. Their cakes are nice, but the cookies are where it's at. The staff is a little cold but the product is great.

So I gave this place one more chance today, and I will say I am glad I did, and it was because of one employee. Her name is PAT! What a breath of fresh air this lady is to the staff! Pat was welcoming, and was genuinely happy to help me, unlike the other employees working there today. Hey Reuter's Boss....YOU NEED TO GET RID OF THE OLD HAGS THAT HAVE BEEN THERE FOR 20 YEARS AND GET MORE, A LOT MORE PEOPLE WORKING THERE LIKE PAT. Thank you Pat! You are the saving grace at Reuter's!

Reuter's is a great local bakery where I can get a delicious cake on a whim. Our favorite is the eclair cake, a delicious, cream puff adorned, strawberry filled masterpiece. This place is so amazing and the prices reflect their desire to make beautiful food accessible to folks. Everything we've had from Reuter's was delicious, well made and flavor balanced.

I've always loved this bakery but after what they did for my daughter's Bridal shower cake, they are now my favorite & I will not go anywhere else. I wanted a specific design for her shower and I walked in with 2 pictures on my phone telling them what I wanted. The girl that helped me said it wouldn't be a problem and even had some suggestions. The work that they did on the cake was BETTER than I could have asked for & expected. It was the hit of the shower & just made everything so beautiful. Not only was it beautiful but it was so delicious and fresh! Everyone oohhhed and ahhhed over it. Thank you Reuter's for adding that beautiful touch to my daughter's Bridal shower.

They made a beautiful cake for my baby shower last year ! We had so many compliments! Now my daughter is turning one and we plan on having them doing another for us!

Birthday right before Christmas weekend no worries.....I went in and the owner offered to write Happy Birthday on the Santa Choo Choo it was the sweetest gesture. Can I say I love Reuters Bakery??? I do my granddaughters gonna love it!

I'm so happy that this place is still open during the quarantine/shut down . My little sister turned 16 and her orginal birthday plans were canceled but I figured we could still get her a cake. I ordered her favorite, a yellow cake with chocolate butter cream and OH MY GOD it was AMAZING!!! I love this bakery! I will continue to order cakes from here because they are professional and their cakes NEVER disappoint! Thank you so much for making my sisters 16th birthday a little more sweet, especially during these times.

This spot is a staple in my neighborhood for over 30 + years and has been frequented by my family, friends, and parents. Today I was in with my wife to get an almond cake and butterscotch pecan cake which I have bought with no issues or complaints, ever. My biggest issue was watching an older white gentleman who I found out to be the owner of Reuters, rearranging the bread rolls with...his...bare...hands... I work in the food service industry and am certified by the state of Illinois to do so. I don't care if his hands were cleaned 60 seconds before, it is a health and food code violation. I was appalled by it I walked out. I am contemplating calling the city of Chicago about this. Such a shame, he couldn't just put on a pair of gloves? Or use wax paper?

Very upset for the money that I paid for my sons 14th Birthday cake under quarantine came out to be horrible. All bread and not enough cannoli filling and the picture design was semi blurry. We have been trying to support small businesses during this horrible time and this was a slap in the face.

My work bought boxes of mini cannoli and they were amazing. I haven't had a good cannoli since I was in the North End in Boston. They were the perfect size and I would definitely order them for any event.

My husband picked up some cakes we needed for a birthday party and there was quit the selection to pick from . So happy we were able to get the last carrot cake they had , it was so good . Everyone loved the mini eclair cake too . Both cakes were a hit .

BEWEAR IF YOUR ORDERING MORE THEN ONE ITEM FROM HERE!!!! I placed an order for 2 cakes and 2 orders of 24 count cookies to be picked on November 19,2022. I paid over 400 dollars ahead of time way before picked up date. I had a cousin that lives in Elmwood Park to pick up my orders since I leave over an hour away. When she picked up my order, the lady brought out one cake and my cousin told her their another cake and cookies as well and the lady comes back out with the other cake and still no cookies so my cousin reminds her again about the cookies and she brings out the cookie box meanwhile this lady never opens the boxes of cakes or cookies to show her and everything is taped up and stapled like crazy. Well when my cousin finally makes it to my house after the hour drive, I open everything and notice they only gave me one order of 24 cookies not the other order of 24. But at this time the bakery is already closed for Saturday and when I tried calling on Sunday the phone was off the hook and the calls were not going through. Then I contacted them through online telling them the issue that happen and tried calling again finally a lady picked up and was like yes we have your cookies here...when are you going to pick them up? And I'm like well they didn't even make it to my daughters party and I love an hour away. She never said sorry and said well whoever picked up the order didn't make sure she had the whole order. So now it's Tuesday November 22 and I pick up the cookies from the same rude polish lady that answer the phone on Sunday and I told her do I least get a discount for my next order for your staff mistake and she NO YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE WHOLE/CORRECT ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!!! And again she never says sorry and then said these cookies been seating here for a couple days. Like I'm sorry I leave an hour away and still give you my business and that your closed on Monday!!! And on all my cake boxes receipts they write order is with cookies to basically remind their employees that the cake order has cookies with it as well but meanwhile it's still the customers fault. This is like me going to McDonald's/ Burger King and they forgetting to give me my burger or fries and say well u didn't look and make sure our employees did their job and pack your whole order and it's correct!!!

Best tasting cakes! We always get all of our cakes from Reuters. They are always delicious. I get a Halloween cake every year and they never disappoint! The ladies are always so nice and have been so good to my kids. Great neighborhood bakery with great looking and great tasting cakes. They have so much to choose from. They will make just about anything.

I have ordered multiple cakes from here with different fillings all the time. Not only are they fresh, tasty, but absolutely beautiful. They work with your budget and they have always exceeded my vision that I was going with..havent been disappointed

My daughter ordered her wedding cake from Reuter's Bakery. This is our neighborhood bakery and we love their sweet rolls and cookies. Ordering the cake was easy. We picked up the cake and it was just as ordered. The cake was delicious. The price was very reasonable, and prices for everything else related to weddings have been so high in the Chicagoland area. Two future brides will be visiting Reuter's that attended our wedding.

Ordered my sons birthday cake and I loved how they did it and it tasted great! The service was amazing lady was very helpful as well!

Reuter's Bakery has so much potential, but they seem to be so stuck in their old ways that they're falling behind on ensuring that they're delivering great customer service. Perhaps it's because they rely on the fact that their baked goods are tasty and the bread is tasty, but my family has been a customer for 10+ years and I'm afraid we won't be back. 2 weeks ago we put in an order over email for a law school graduation cake. When we came in to pick up the cake, Reuters claimed no order had been placed because it "had to be confirmed in person." The emails showed otherwise. Lately the customer service/management at Reuters has been falling apart and for that reason alone I would no longer recommend this bakery.

I would be in absolute trouble if I lived near this place. Everything is as delicious as it looks. Such a great variety of breads, pastries, cakes, cookies and many more sweet treats. The cakes custom or premade never disappoint! The cookies are light a fluffy, and I love the ganache they use on their smiley face cookies. Homemade breads, my favorite is rye is always a so tender and soft. This time around we got a cake, I didn't get the name, but it's got a napoleon crust base, white cake, whipped cream and fresh strawberries and topped with mini eclairs! It was perfect

One of the most dependable places to be found for good donuts, sweet rolls and especially coffee cakes. Love the chocolate chip coffee cakes as they don't douse the pastry in chocolate - they kind of let the chips "do the talking" flavorwise. Staff there has always been helpful as well - solid four star place.

I usually order from here for my birthday cakes for over 16yrs but I will be looking for another bakery. I walked in to order 2 cakes. The first was cake shaped in the number 16 with happy birthday written around. When I got there it was a sheet cake with big 16 on it. They were able to make the cake over before my party. The other cake was a round cake with sprinkles and fondant bow with 16 on top. The cake looked awesome until we cut it and it was only yellow cake. I ordered chocolate and yellow cake. While I was there another lady was crying Bcz they messed up the colors on her grad cake. Not going back after 16yrs

I needed a last minute cake for a celebration and they were able to take my order with only 2 days notice where other bakeries turned me away. I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious the cake was. Everyone loved the fresh fruit and custard and how the frosting was not overly sweet where you feel like you're going to get a cavity. The staff was pleasant. We also picked up 2 Boston cream pazcki that just melted in your mouth. I will definitely be returning to order my cakes from here.

I came in to Reuter's two weeks before my husband's surprise party, and told them I was wanting a disc golf cake. The lady helping me had me send a picture I had pinned on Pinterest to their email address. They completely nailed it!! We got so many compliments on the cake (look and taste!) The price was also super reasonable for being a custom cake!! They have my business for any other cakes I will be needing from now on!

I have been going there for years and I think their big goods are exceptional. But lately I am very disappointed in some of the service. Some of the new people that are working there are not friendly and frankly are a turn off. I called an order in for something specific that I always call Lynn and the girl told me that they don't have it that way and I said yes you do because I always order it and so she reluctantly took the order. I went in the next day to pick it up and there was no record of my order and I was very upset. So I asked where my order was and the girl behind the counter who is Polish was a little bit snippy with me and was talking to the other Polish person working there and I know they were talking about me in Polish which I think is very very rude. These girls need to be talked to. In a service business you do not speak a foreign language in front of the customers because they feel that they are being talked about. And she had a very bad attitude with me more than one time when I came in there. As much as I love this business I'm seriously considering not going back and telling my friends about this situation that they should not go in. I feel bad about this because you do great things in a bakery like yours is a dying breed and they can't afford to ill treat their customers with an attitude when they come in. I hope management sees this and does some thing about those Polish waitstaff.

Reuter's is worth the trip for hot cross buns alone! And they make them year round if you call ahead to special order. Their boxes of fancy cookies are pricey but well worth it for the perfect hostess gift. Coffee cakes, fresh baked loaves of white bread and donuts also amazing. I am not a fan of the giant frosted cookies but there are enough other options that we always leave with way too much anyway. Great prices. Rarely more than a minute or two wait. Easy street parking.

I've ordered Reuter's cakes here for years. Birthdays, Anniversary, Holidays, always delicious! I had moved from Elmwood Park and still came to Reuter's for all my party sweets. Years later, I've moved back to EP and they're still just as great, if not greater! This place is a monument

Love this bakery for its breakfast baked goods - danishes, etc. Too many difficult choices to make on a weekend morning before I have had my coffee. Only wish that they could label their offerings so that I didn't have to ask their staff what they had and what everything was.

So - after a ban of 7 plus years, I headed back in thinking, new year, new attitude, let's give this another try. On a Sunday just after lunch, the place was cleared-out of offerings. Literally under 10 individual donuts on the shelf and none were yeast. They had two Swedish flops, but would not cut them - because yes, someone is going to come in and buy two full sheets on a Sunday afternoon. I suspect those will be the Monday/Tuesday slice offerings. No bueno. I got a box of the very expensive cookies and a pack of the homemade twinkies. The cookies were meh - nothing special to justify the $14.50 cost. The twinkies were odd - you need to leave them out to harden to really get the texture you expect, but then you have to eat them pretty quickly or they will be stale. Oh well, can't say I didn't try.

Reuter's is the BEST bakery, outstanding customer service. There cakes and cookies and pastries are wonderful!! Everything is Fresh , reasonable,and extremely clean.

Always loved the turtle cookies but they have now cut back on quality. Smaller pieces of pecan and less chocolate, unfortunate that they are no longer worth buying. The taste is just not the same. RAISE PRICES RATHER THAN CUT QUALITY! Many other items still worth buying such as packzi and zeppole amongst other daily items(hence the 3 stars). Just a bit perturbed by the unfortunate cut back on quality in regards to the cookies.
