Last weekend I went on a Mom-and-Daughters staycation to San Francisco. We stayed at a cute, no frills motel in the Marina, an area of the city we hadn't ever been to, and I used Yelp to scope out some places to have breakfast in walking distance. Having had a big, sit down breakfast on Saturday, Sunday needed to be coffee and something simpler, probably a pastry since none of us keen on hipster toasts.
The pastries were fantastic. I had the sticky bun. My favorite part of any pastry is the soft center and the bun was perfectly soft, complemented by the gooey sauce and crunchy nuts. My mom had the muffin and my sister had a croissant and scone. All reports back were that they were delicious. My Americano started tasty but did get a bit bitter at the end, I would try a different drink if I visit again. I have to agree with the other reviewer about the leaking lid. I took the lid off to cool my coffee, and when I put it back on, I had coffee on my jeans with the first sip. My mom's tea came with piping hot water.
It wasn't too crowded earlyish Sunday morning, but still had plenty of people and dogs to have some good people watching. My mom pointed out how out of place we looked not in the seemingly requisite sweatshirts, baseball hats, leggings and bike shorts. We were in our regular clothes so it was wild to feel like we were from a different world instead of a city 30 miles away.
Overall, it hit the needs of the morning with their delicious pastries to fill our tummies.
